My favorite part of the album is Climbing Up The Walls transitioning into No Surprises, a devastating one , two, punch if I ever heard one. The totally frightening tone of CUTW is negated by the beautiful sound of NS, until you read the lyrics and realize the madness didn't stop it just took a different form.
As far as the overrated bs Radiohead is probably the most critically acclaimed band since the Beatles, and for good reason. One of the things to do if you want to see if a band writes good music is to see who covers them. If you look at the insane amount of talented people covering Radiohead it's astounding. There are a huge amount of Jazz musicians who cover them (aside from having Jazz elements already they leave a lot of space for them to improvise) then there are the Classical musicians in which there are professional accomplished ones all the way to the huge amount of music schools and college music depts that are adapting their songs to Classical. The Jazz pianist Brad Mehldau does a good amount of Radiohwad songs.
The next track is a fan favorite album track and I loved the atmosphere right from the first time I heard it. Just so you know they can play every single song on this album (and all their albums it's a big deal to them) live, without any taped bullshit, flawlessly. They're amazing live and they always change the songs around a bit and sometimes more than a bit.
"The songs inspiration came from a night in Los Angeles where Thom Yorke visited a bar where he felt as he was sorrounded by » demons from another planet«. He elaborated: "Everyone was trying to get something out of me. I felt like my own self was collapsing in the presence of it, but I also felt completely, utterly part of it, like it was all going to come crashing down any minute." That night was also the inspiration for the whole OK Computer album, as it was filled with claustrophobia, paranoia and anxiety."
You should have more subs than you do, I love your honesty and you are knowledgeable about music as well. I guess you don't sit there and make happy faces enough and glaze all over everything you hear. I can't wait for the album that follows OK Computer called Kid A they shocked the shit out of everyone and lost a lot of strictly rock fans. I didn't like it at first it's only years later when I came back to it after being amazed at something else by them that I came to appreciate it, then love it.
thanks James. unfortunately, the YT algo doesn't push me as much as I would like to. Channel grows with 1 sub per day in average. I'll check more Radiohead for sure!
@@deepdivemusicreactions I'm letting some Radiohead fanatics I know about your channel, it's a pretty large and loyal community and once they know about it they will tune in for every reaction you do for Radiohead. I have noticed the YT algo isn't very kind to you for some reason, I remember when you were doing Deja Vu and it was difficult to find you even after I listened to a couple of songs already. I don't know how there bias works but it seems like they promote every African American's channel to the hilt especially couples who often don't know much about music and sit and make faces and love everything they listen to. If I search most recent Radiohead reactions I always get older videos of couples (always African American) that aren't recent at all right at the top.
Geddy Lee from Rush and Rick Wakeman from Yes both poked fun at Radiohead for being a prog band even though they denied it in pretty strong terms. I wouldn't call Radiohead a straight-up prog band along the lines of Yes for instance, but they have always been very progressive in the actual literal sense.
Jigsaw falling into place from the album in rainbows. Is the greatest song ive ever listened to.
That's one of my favorites as well.
This album is a 10/10
So much fun to listen to even 25 years later. Every song different and exciting
Great song/experiment. Can't wait to 'Lucky', my favorite!
Mine too
