    Excellent video. Thanks for not attempting to shoot video in one hand, and install in the other. Hate those videos. This however, is a good one and very helpful.

    Nice video, however, the banner at the bottom on during the entire video really obstructs what can be seen. It's fine to put it up every so often. You can also use annotations to supplement info.

    I installed a Sommer on March 1, 2016 ( looked back at the dates on my computer) and I forgot to say Thank you so much you gave a lot of help last March. Sorry I said this so late, iit is so dam quiet. 2 weeks ago I was coming in the house and there is a room straight above and the opener woke no one up.

      Thanks for taking the time to let us know how you like it. Sommer does make some amazing openers insanely quiet.

    Hey Boris, all Sommer models have been switched over to rolling code receivers and remote transmitters. I will have to get the length of the rails for you when I get to the warehouse. I will let you know. Thanks for the interest

    correct, we sell the synoris which is the dealer grade model. The retail grade model is called the direct drive. On the synoris the one real works for a 7 ft and 8 ft tall door. The two main rails measure 5 feet and 4.5 inches each so it will be 10 feet 9 inches once assembled. other rails are available for taller for. Sommer really makes top quality openers so you really can't go wrong. Let us know if we can help in any way.

    what are the two brown wires that you connected to the motor? I know there are two sensors on each side and the out that you plugged into the outlet.

    Thank you for the video. I'm interested in this model. Few questions:
    1) the model in your video has red controller cover and red remotes which means it doesn't user rolling codes. Are you still stocking fixed code models or have the latest rolling codes which I believe are using blue cover and remotes?
    2) what is the total length of all c-rails without the control unit? Do you ship different rail sizes for different garage door heights?
    Thank you

    My Sommer 550 won't shut all the way. I have about a two inch gap. Is this an easy fix?

    What does it mean if the garage doesn't open back up if there is a 2x4 or anything else obstructing the garage from closing? Also when opening, and you obstruct the photo eye, the door closes? Something is messed up.. can't figure it out.. Please HELP!

    sommers 550 change rail connettion is there a video

  • @mbdint
    @mbdint 10 років тому

    Sommer lists 3 different models depending on garage door height: 7', 8', 10'. I checked your website it currently lists only one model (doesn't say which) - what height is it for?
    I'm assuming you are selling installer grade opener (not the retail grade which ships in one box), correct?

    When I watch the video at the time 25:00/38.25, I see two beige color wires connecting the white wires (which will connect to terminal 3 & 4). What are the two beige color wires? Are they the power wires? What is the purpose to connect to the two beige color wires?

    I have a Sommer Synoris wired 3-button wall station come with the box. How can I connect to terminal number. Your video seems not showing this. Thanking in advance for your assistance.

      Your limit setting is off most likely. Honestly throw that in the trash go get Chamberlain product...(liftmaster....craftsman) all chamberlain

    Good video, but as noted, the large, constant banner hides some critical details

    btw when he says 550lb door he means a door thats 550lb deadweight that is balanced properly with the proper spring for that weight dont try and use any garage door opener to lift a door thats not balanced properly or you will wreck the machine specially the rails for these machines, lift master solid t rails can probably handle it but even those machines have built in force settings that will not allow it to open for example if you had a broken spring

    That thing looks like a pile of crap. Marantec or liftmaster is the standard for pro grade product... this thing has a segmented rail which is garbage

    • @diygaragedoorparts8206
      @diygaragedoorparts8206 6 років тому

      vick moore sure it is a 2 piece rail but twice as thick of steel is use compared to Marantec. I see Marantec rail bent all the time (probably once every other month doing service work) never seen a Sommer one bent.

      DIY Garage Door Parts I'll tell you what, let's see if who's right on this... I know your trying to push this bottom end operator. I'm on a job right know, 9' high one piece DOORS in Beverly hills... I'm installing a marantec after I replace the hinge arms. I'll post the video when I'm all done. Guaranteed that Chinese operator you are pushing won't work like this!!

      vick moore sorry bud but it is German made. One 2 of the largest openers used in Europe for over 30 years.

    • @Meypsta
      @Meypsta 6 років тому

      DIY Garage Door Parts so what's the mm rating of the rail since you say a segmented rail is twice as thick

    • @diygaragedoorparts8206
      @diygaragedoorparts8206 6 років тому

      vick moore I don't have the specs in front of me but I have have seen and worked on hundreds of both brand and know it is heavier than the Marantec. Plus less photo eye and board problems. Compared to Liftmaster you don't have crappy plastic gears to strip. You are free to use what ever you want bro.
