My grumpy old man neighbor (whom I adore) jovially complained about my garage door needing greasing to quiet it down. I'm so glad I watched this video instead of letting him show me. I laughed on multiple occasions. It's nice to see some personality in this video. Thank you, Precision!

May 21, 2020. Watched your video, purchased a can of white lithium grease and greased my rollers, chain and cable. It completely worked as you instructed. Garage door opens easily where before it hung up and it’s quieter than I ever remember. Saving money doing it myself ain’t to shabby either. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

@@peterokpara4451 We just moved and all my shop supplies are still packed away, but I can tell you that it was a spray can with a straw on the nozzle and it was easy as pie to apply the white foamy lithium grease into the rollers and it was also easy to wipe up the excess. It probably came from a store like NAPA.

Unsurprisingly, genuine garage door pros manage to make the most informative video on the topic. I doubt that anyone is keeping an eye on this 8-year-old video, but here's a question: Of course light oil sprays like WD-40 evaporate too quickly to be of much use as long-term lubricants, but would it make sense to use them to clean the equipment before applying the lithium grease? What about using brake cleaner spray or "carb and choke" cleaner spray?

Let me tell you, I just watched this while standing in Home Depot because I was stumped as to why I couldn't find what I thought I needed (a brush-on oil-based product) to lubricate the track. I have no real problems with this video, but... You can go to three web sites and get three different answers as what to use. Use oil rather than grease as grease attracts debris? Don't use oil, use grease? Use or don't use silicone spray? Don't lubricate door track or lubricate door track. It all depends on which web site you take your advice from!
I think either the lithium grease *spray* (as they recommend here) or silicone spray as I recently used both work well. The ss was easy to apply (a step ladder would have helped) and quieted things down nicely. Yes, lubricate the tracks as well or the squeaking and grinding will probably continue--a bad sign. Oh...I'll do a better job come spring.

Just watch 4 videos on lubricating a garage door and this was by far the best. It explained well the right type of lubricants to use and how and where to use them. The added humor is well placed to accentuate the places mistakes can be made or to emphasize doing it right. Thanks for taking the time to make a well done instructional video.

    Thanks very much.
I've made all the rookie mistakes over the years, and a persistent sticking brought me here. I had the right lube (after trying WD-40 :-) but was putting on the wrong side of the rail.
Thanks very much, now I can turn down the door closing force from maximum to something a little safer :-)

Ha! Nice work dude! I know this video is 10 yrs old, but was refreshing and informative! You should teach (assuming you are still around) presentation skills. Anyone looking to solve this problem should start and end right here!

I just had my garage door replaced by Precision and am really happy with the door install that they did. I had one of their own garage door openers in addition to the door. It is really an Linear P800 product but Precisions name is on it. The opener is a belt drive unit and I can hardly hear the door opening and closing now. What a difference from my old worm drive Genie! I highly recommend this company and the products that they sell.

Thanks ! I bought a spray can of the white lithium you recommended ( about $ 7 at the Big Box store) and sprayed it on the bearings and other moving parts of the door following your instructions and the pictures in the video ( which were very good). Elapsed time to do it, about 15 minutes and yes the terrible screetching sound is gone. Thank you !

Your introduction was a tad slow but your information was great as was your dry sense of humor. Thank you for NOT wasting my time.
