    I started low carb, high protein, high fat diet three weeks ago. The first change I saw was the weight loss, then my sleep improved tremendously. For years, I had been unable to get a goo night sleep. I was eating healthy but would never feel rested. Finally, I decided to give up most fruits and vegetables, and like a miracle, I started feeling much, much better. My brain actually feel pleasure in doing things again.

    I recently had elevated liver enzymes show up on a routine blood test, then got an ultrasound and diagnosed with fatty liver. Was referred for a fibroscan to check for liver scarring but was not told there was anything I could do to reverse it. Did some reading in the meantime and started keto immediately. Four weeks later I had my fibroscan and they asked me if I had an ultrasound because the numbers were so low they weren’t even sure I had fatty liver. Their only recommended treatment was exercise and Mediterranean diet, but I will keep doing my current ketovore diet and will get retested in a few months.

    I've been having pain in the shoulder and the liver area this past week; I've been a full carnivore for 3 weeks with no carbs at all. I'm watching this and hoping I can change the damage. I was keto/carnivore for around 7 months but had a really bad fall off the wagon, but I still never went over 30g carbs. The pain was so great that it put me straight onto Carnivore and cut all the carbs. Trying to see a doctor is like pulling teeth. I hope that sticking with the no carbs, bacon, butter, and eggs shifts this away. Before I end up in the afterlife. I've gone from size 22 to UK 14 so far. This information might save my life. Thank you!

      I am careful not to take anything that will naturally lower my BP.
      I have to take "FLOMAX" for my prostate but I have to wait until at least noontime because it will lower my BP, also.
      I can't take fenugreek any more because it lowered my BP. (I don't need it anymore!)
      I believe the PHARMACEUTICALS did and will continue to WITHOLD any information that will lower their profits.

    My friend, Penny, would be alive today if she had this information. For anyone reading, here is her story.
    Penny did everything "right" to stay healthy. She never drank or smoked. She cooked all home-made food, and bought organic in a time when few people did (80s/90s). She never dyed her hair, because of the cancer risk. Lived in nature, and took long walks with her dogs every day. BUT, she didn't know about carbs. She was always heavy, but not obese, as are many people who believe the things we were taught.
    In 1999, at age 52, Penny was taken ill and died from pancreatitis. In a matter of days. She was my mentor, my older sister by choice, and spread love, laughter and light everywhere she went. I never knew anyone that disliked her. If Penny had known about ancestral diet, she would still be with us today.
    Save yourself, while you still can. We HAVE the knowledge - apply it. Penny would have wanted this, for every single person on the planet. Love & light to all, from Canada.

The body converts some of these sugars to a *saturated type fat* for storing.

    In the Trim Healthy Mama way of eating -- you don't eat carbs & fat together, and when you eat either one of those you eat protein. This makes it possible to keep eating carbs, but of course not crazy amounts. They do suggest using non-carb natural sweeteners, a low-carb flour alternative mix (or sourdough), and stay light on known super high-carb foods, like potatoes, and rice. And rational balance on occasion is fine, too. Anyway, it's a great way to look into, really does work to reduce weight and help bodily health. :)

    I was told I had non-alcoholic fatty-liver by the doctor who removed my gallbladder and was told to exercise a lot but I'm now wheelchair bond. Considering this, would using extra-virgin olive oil be better for me than butter?

    • @kerim.peardon5551

      I am also minus a gall bladder. I got off sweets (but not carbs) in January and just got my blood work back. All my cholesterol levels were normal--including my triglycerides, which have been high for some time.
      Olive oil contains fat like butter does, so you're not avoiding fat by making the switch. I haven't noticed that butter bothers me, but I'm not eating a stick of it every day, either; I only use it for cooking, when called for. But different things trigger different people. Caffeine is a trigger for my guts, which seems to be fairly rare. For my mother, pizza (high fat) is most likely to give her dumping syndrome (and is a common trigger among people with bad or no gall bladders). So if you notice that you have issues after eating something high in butter, like shrimp scampi, then you may not be able to eat as much as a carnivore diet calls for.
      Also, if you suffer from dumping syndrome frequently (i.e. eating and then needing to immediately rush to the toilet) and/or have regular bile diarrhea, then ask a GI about Welcol. It is a cholesterol medicine, but it works by binding (sequestering) bile and it will stop the dumping syndrome caused by too much bile hitting your digestive tract at the wrong time. I've been on it for years and it's a game changer. I take it and I'm normal. I don't take it, and I'm spending a couple of hours in and out of the toilet after meals.

    According to Prof Roy Taylor at Newcastle University, if you lose weight the first place to lose fat is the liver, which happens remarkably quickly. The pancreas and other organs take longer, and the fat cells are last because they can store fat safely so there is no urgency. He has shown this with MRI scans. See his videos on UA-cam.

    ICD 10 code is the diagnosis like "diabetes" or "insulin resistance" in other words, the condition or disease that supports the reason for the test. CPT codes identify the actual test i.e. blood count, hepatitis test, strep test, fasting sugar, indulin level. These codes are needed to show which test and why is it medically necessary. Every medical treatment has a cpt code and every medical condition has an icd code. They are used by the medical system for billing and planning and they are standardized.

    With respect to Dr Berry, I have been told I have a fatty liver but my GP has told me to reduce the fat in my diet. You are saying the oposite. I love a cup of coffee first thing made from whole milk and double cream. do I have to stop this.
    There are so many contradictory messages.
    This is what is on the NHS website here in the UK.
    "eat a healthy diet - try to have a balanced diet high in fruits, vegetables, protein and carbohydrates, but low in fat, sugar and salt; eating smaller portions of food can help, too"

    • @w1975b
      @w1975b 29 днів тому

      Dr. Berry is also a GP. Most GPs also think it's just fine to be pill pushers, because that's what they learn. The NHS info is essentially the same as what is touted in the US. It is wrong info. It's ultimately your decision who you want to listen to. Very likely you'll have pushback from your GP if you go low carb, high fat, cut out plants, because that's against what he or she has learned. Just know there's a lot of info and support for/from the carnivore community.

    • @KB-jz2zn
      @KB-jz2zn 29 днів тому +17

      NHS food advice is hopeless, still based on old outdated ideas from the lipid heart hypothesis that we now know is false. Also, your GP has zero nutrition science training. They still think keeping cholesterol low is the prime goal. Wrong. The right goal is to keep INSULIN low. So yes it is confusing and frustrating. Do Cut out highly processed seed oils, like sunflower oil, and plant sterol spreads, those are the bad fats. Whole milk and cream and butter are good natural fats. The fat that comes with meat is stable, we need fat for our brains and our hormones. You got fatty liver from eating carbs/sugar, not good fats. Low-fat leads to diabetes and dementia. See the excellent film Fat Fiction for all the hard facts, it is on UA-cam. The website DietDoctor/low-carb/guides has loads of free info on Low Carb eating to reverse fatty liver and insulin resistance. Good luck to you.
