Slightly Biased Kobe Bryant Fan I've seen Jordan do that in dozens of games. Didn't you hear the commentators referring to Kobe's performance as Jordan-esque?? Better do your homework kid learn where Kobe stole all those moves from.
This was maybe my favorite Kobe game. He just ripped the Suns' hearts out, with every 4rth quarter basket! Afterwards, he tapped Alvin Gentry as if to say "nice try coach" and then soared to the bench. The deflated look on the Suns fans' faces! All of that, was a snapshot, of Kobe Bean Bryant's AMAZING LEGACY!
@@percivalquartero1405 Him doing it against Phoenix was very storybook too. Redemption/payback for them knocking him out so early in the playoffs, back in 06 and 07.

The only player i know to get a applause in another teams arena in the playoffs. Pheonix fans even though theyre cheering for their Suns of course, they still know greatness and let Kobe have his moment too.
I honestly can't recall an announcer (I think this was Doug Collins) being more enamored with a player's performance in any sport than here. And rightfully so. I remember watching this live and feeling like I'd never seen anything like that before. Even watched it with a Suns fan who didn't even get too upset because he felt like there was nothing that could be done to stop it. Sublime moment. May never see a player on this level ever again.
I think it was actually Steve Kerr but he may have been working with Phoenix at the time. Or Collins was back to coaching philly I don’t really remember but he definitely came 5 times in the 4th
Kobe may not be the official GOAT, but he was MY GOAT...Kobe wasn't as "naturally" gifted as Jordan or Lebron, but he did the MOST with what he had; in the gym first everyday, constantly working on his game, driving and working to be as great as he could be. Nobody worked harder or was more driven. Kobe was ironman...broken shooting finger? He'd wrap it like a mummy and shoot through the pain. Torn shoulder on his shooting arm? Dude learned to shoot left handed. Ruptured achilles? Hobbles to the free throw line and drills 2 clutch free throws. Kobe was passion and determination incarnate. He poured himself into his passions and strived to be great at whatever he did. This is why he was so beloved by so many, and this is why there will never be another player like Kobe Bryant.
Thats how I felt after watching that game. 20+ Years of doubtin dude, even after the championships, but after that performance and carrying the entire team for the remainder of the career. he earned that title for me.
This is exactly why you cannot see this style of play right now from anyone. The right basketball decision is to hit the open man when you are double or triple and the logic is simple, they will make more shots. Kobe is the exception of this rule. ISO plays are the easiest play to run in basketball. It requires almost no passing but just spacing. It has almost no room for mistakes because there are no ball movements. This is the ultimate trump card offensively because you cannot guard those shots. Yet kobe shoots 45% in his 20 year career taking those shots. A lot of people still cannot understand the insanity behind this shooting percentage taking those shots.
When Kobe was feeling it, might as well go home.. nothing you do is gonna stop him and this series proved that. Arguably one of his best playoff series of his career.
This is the most underrated playoff series from an all time great ever. It's never mentioned as one of the GOAT playoff performances but it truly was one of the greatest series I've seen from an individual player ever.
Grant hill was all over him on that shot. Man these was good days. I’ll never forget 1997-2016. I started watching in 1997. Been a Kobe fan all of them years and after retirement I was a fan of what he did off the court. Kobe May you Rest In Peace. Made me strive for what I wanted and never let no one tell me I couldn’t play basketball I ignored that. It made be the best I could be in high school and elementary school 5-8 and high school 9-12.
My favorite part is the Crowd Reaction, Every shot Kobe made, all the people moved in disbelief, They really couldn't believe what kind of shots he is taking.
How can people not say kobe is the greatest look at the KIND of shots he was making consistently...not dunks or 3s over 1 defender...he out here using his pivot pump fakes posting up doing floaters in between defenders like bruh!!!
It's crazy to know how much hate and complete disrespect Kobe has gotten over the last few years. I mean, in my personal, biased opinion, he's right there at the top with Michael. Those are the two greatest individual players we've ever seen. You wanna say one is better than the other, then that's fine, but the overall difference isn't large. But now, basically since his Achilles injury, analysts and whoever has a platform give him so little credit and praise for the kind of player he was. If he's not in your top ten, then you just don't like him.
I think this was kobes best playoff performance he was really focused and kept hitting countless difficult shots! this is why he is the best their is today
the difficulty on these shots is ridiculous. a defender, who is even taller, draped all over him while sometimes a 2nd defender running at him to contest and still drills the shot in front of an away crowd. it's things like these that stats won't be able to show you. def the best tough shot maker in NBA history.

You can tell by Dudley's and Fry's body language after that tough floater (53 seconds in) that they were so tired of Kobe giving it to them that night. lol
