OK this is a pretty good advanced tutorial to watch and learn about vray workflow using vraylightselect. If you follow the tutorial using the file though you'll find that the render elements will NOT reproduce the original beauty pass because of some quirks. ;) 1. Make sure to save as 32 bit exr in the settings rollout. 2. If you inspect the scene file, the vraylightselect named"AllOtherLights" does not include the light "WarmHighlight" which is the one that produces the visible orange reflection on the teapot body. This made me scratch my head a bit until i figured it out and added it to the list. 3. DON'T turn on the color corrections in the frame buffer when saving the passes, as this will permanently burn in the effects to your passes. instead save them as LUT like shown in the video and add it in PS afterwards. If you want to just follow the tutorial, render instead on low res and not 4K. For me with 2x gtx 1070, 8 mins rendering for 800px height is enough. Hope that helps someone! thanks to chaos group for the tutorial:D
clicked on. Very detailed and to the point, thank you so much for tNice tutorials! I subscribed and I look forward to watcNice tutorialng and learning more about
Hello! I did try to make a render like that with cpu and gpu but the imagine is not clear and I don’t see any settings to adjust the image to be much clear, as I can do it if I only use the basic information and using only gpu... can anyone help me please? Maybe posting a screen shot from where to adjust the setting too look clear ?
I have set my Production Rendering to Vray RT....& Choose Engine Type as CUDA....but my Frame Renders only for 1 second...but Renders fine when Engine Type set to CPU....Awaiting Reply....
Hi Misam - if you're experiencing a technical issue or have questions, please contact our support team using the form: www.chaosgroup.com/support/contact
well how do you get materials for Vray? For MR you get a substantial library of high quality materials for most uses but nothing similar in Vray. It seems the only option is either to spend alot of time and efford making your own textures or download them from vray-materials.de and the problem with that site is that for many material types the quality is only sufficient for games and the like - not near photo realism.
Hi there, does vray 3.3+ support ptex files rendered with vray RT cuda? ? I'm having problems with ptex files not being able to be rendered. Is this a common issue?
I'm rendering your scene with low gpu thread priority , 2987x4000 pixels resolution with two quadro K5000 and after 4 hours , it's still more noisy than your video. What cards are you using and what is your render time?
Guys any good tutorial on VRAY GPU SETTINGS and its equivalent CPU SETTINGS? Sample CPU settings: Max Subdivs: 40 Noise thresh: .005 IR: HIGH LC: 1500 -what is the exact equivalent of this to GPU settings? Thanks
excellent ! Thanks for providing the scene flie. Can this method be used to bake Lighting & textures as well. Please do some videos on V-Ray and baking / Game related workflows. Thanks b
Yes. You have to set some options for certain render elements and the frame buffer needs to be active IIRC. Depending on the frame range of your animation you also want to check you have enough harddrive space. =D
No.The process of combining passes is more complicated than just adding them all. If you are using raw passes might have to multiply then through the diffuse filter before adding them (google it). I never really managed to get the exact final pass vray spits out, tho.. it's always a tiny bit off..
Thadeu Luz Thadeu!!! Long time no see! Truth be told you don't play with VRay in a long, long time AFAIK (since VRay 2 I guess?). You should come back to Max and start playing more with VRay and MCG in Max (Google it) - it's an amazing node based compiled program language in Max. You'll love it!
Hi, can vray work with this kind of specs, for beginner user? ryzen 5 1600 (6 cores, 12 threads) gtx 1050 ti 4gb ddr5 8 gb ram ddr4 2400 mhz strix b350f TIA
light cache or brute force? what are the settings? how about color mapping and noise thresholds? how many render nodes are being used since the DR box is checked? what was the render time for this? How would this compare to doing it with vray adv in terms of render time? Assuming linear workflow? great image! just wish there was a little more info on the set up with regards to RT and how or why it's better than doing this same shot in the regular / old way with vray adv.
Modelling is easy. As you can see the scene in grey those are the models they created for this demonstration. Setting up your materials and texturing what makes this scene fantastic and of course let's not forget about lighning.
It seems I've an issue: On small resolution, I can see the render progress green bar but in A3 (I know it's crazy but I wanted to have fun ^^) after 12h+ the render par progress is still white. Is because the render progress and calculation time is not working well in max or it's because a 1080 is not enough (I know in this case professionnal use decent graphic card for such a project like this, at least Titan X) ? After 8h (was rendering while I was sleeping) I can see on the different pass, my picture is almost clean with a very small amount of noise. It's annoying cause I fellt forced to cancel the rendering. Maybe it was amlmost done but with no indications I couldn't wait for more. Any some decent plugins to efficiently control and plane the time even an approximative one, so that we can know if the things are going well or not. Some things I modify before rendering: It was the occasion for me to have a ready-to-render scene to test the complex fresnel. By doing this I got better reflection and refraction than the basics ones in the vray.mlt. I also modificate some value in Vray RT section like the trace depth / ray bundle size / gi depth. I read the documention before and did some small render test aswell. Trace depth 12 GI depth 3 Ray Bundle 256 Ray per pixel 64 Max noise 0,03 GPU Texture: full size GPU Text Size 512 In conclusion, some can tell me if with a 1080 on A3 resolution (I know with this card it's gonna take a lot of time) is normal to spend 8-12hours ? EDIT: Nota Bene: Never configure a render engine when you're tired ^^. My primary and secondary engine were on "Brute Force" FML !!!
thanks for the tutorial, but my gpu ( gtx 650) cant run the live rendering properly. if possible, can you please let me know how that sugar/powder on top and around the cubes in the scene ? I am really curious about it and tried several ways but cant get it to look realistic... thanks. :)
Aynen Hocam Benimde Aklıma Gelmişti. Ayrıca Burada Bi Türk Kardeşimi Görmek Beni Mutlu Etti Gerçekten. Ama videoda detay yok nasıl yapacağımızı göstermiyorlar yani sadece görseller var. Ben bişey anlamadım Sen anladınmı ? Nasıl bu sonucu Elde edeceğimi bi ayar felan gösterselerdi iyi olurdu.
I tried rendering in vray rt 3.4 in high resolution but the computer becomes so sluggish and I can see that the frame buffer update is very slow. My IT guy setup a 3 GTX 1070 with 32 GB ram hoping I can take advantage of RT instead. What am I missing here? I hope someone can help me answer this question. Thanks for this tutorial.
So guys from chaos group would you be so kind to post some tutorial or to explain what are blending modes for ''BACK TO BEAUTY'' AND ''ADVANCED BACK TO BEAUTY'' BUT NOT WITH 32 BIT EXR because 2/3 of photoshop functions are disabled!!! IN 32 BIT IT'S easy > linear dodge/add and good to go, BUT WHEN IN 8, OR 16 BIT THAT'S NOT THE CASE... so > so can anyone write/or has detail tut.about every single render pass for those two methods of post production meaning what are EXACT BLENDING MODES IN PS. AND CAN ANYONE, ANYONE FROM CHAOS GROUP BE SO KIND TO RECREATE ''ADVANCED BACK TO BEAUTY'' WORKING IN 8 OR 16 BIT? is that even possible??? and one more thing > would chaos group be so kind to just ''write'' blending modes for those two workflows but not linear as they showed in their's ''formula scheme'' on manual... thnks

soft is rather complex.. sotNice tutorialngs more than they should be. But you've made a great job explaining it!
i set the the frame of the picture 4k but the resolution is so poor what could be the reason ?
now we have light mix so we don't need light select right
What do I do when the channel rack becos too cluttered? If I can, how do I clear it?
What GPU are you using? Does anybody else know?

Great choice of scene. Simply stunning.

hes probably using render farm resources
You use only GPU rednering ??
When will GPU rendering with V-Ray support displacement?
never stop study !thank u bro!
Every time i try to render using GPU, the render window is always black. Any ideas why?
What a great video. Super well explained, thanks! Any video in your channel on how to record yourself with soft soft? I'm under the

How long does it take to render this view?
24hrs?
is it possible to open this file in Max 2014 ?
Awesome stuff. Any chance to put out a 2016 version? I don't have 2017 yet. Thanks.
Thank you for the suggestion. Scene has been saved for 3DS Max version 2016 and up now.

Coud you make a After Effect version??
Tea doesn't have bubbles but that shit still looks amazing
The bubbles are a result of the pour, they disappear after a minute or two.
MiRaje8086, you are too late. so bubbles are gone.
it's not tea. It's sherbet :)
thank you for the tutorial very nice rendering
Which graphics card for this post?
awesome rendering, great work
i like realistic rendering , i really like to know your system spec or your render machine
So I just have to set all the render elements to add?

Do you maybe have this scene for Maya?
downloading the maya bonus tools will allow you to open max files
You mean 3ds import into Maya? You would need a .vrscene file to bring the scene data over to Maya.
