Hearing uncensored James is exactly the refresher I needed. And id know, my name is James. Pumphrey you and science garage was what I nourished on for after school entertainment in 2016 and beyond. I’m going to keep following your adventure and I hope someday I can be at a point in my life where I can impart smiles and knowledge with you no matter the UA-cam channel. And currently have a dream to incorporate music and cars into the yin and yang of my everyday short attention span successfully. I have at least one good creative idea that fits this idea perfectly and all it seems like I’d need is a team that believes in me the way I’ve believed in my creativity since I was born. This comment can get lost in space and it will never take away how much I’ve learned and laughed from you and the early donut team. Thank you so much and you have another subscriber

James saying “oh… I love you” feels like a warm hug with so much genuine emotion
Best video ever!! Science garage brought me to donut in early 2017 maybe even late 2016. Immediately fell in love with the up2speed series and that's what kept me coming back. To me, donut started falling off once it hit around 4 million subs. But I so miss the days of my life and the people that were in it before donut hit 1 million subs.
I've been there since almost the beginning. I remember you tearing up when donut hit 1 million subs. Donut isn't going to be the same without you.
Thank you for the video! It was fantastic!!
This is so nuts. Am I the only one who thought James was , like the CEO of Donut? He had that energy in every video he was in!
Shi I thought he was the owner 😂 Didn’t know he was just an employee
Same here
Me too
I absolutely spent more than a year believing he was the owner until he said in a video that he was not

It felt so awesome getting up to Speeed on everything Donut and all the rad people that made it what it is! We have nothing but sheer excitement for what's to come!
I think we’re going to hit a golden age in UA-cam between speeed, Cboys TV, big time and throttle house!
y’all are 4 days late😭
Oh yeah, Big Time! ;)
Maybe now we can finally get an "Up to Speeed" on James' dad.
What’s up boys!? Huge fan! You guys are killing it right now!
"I'm what you call an OG guy" 😢
DONUT media introduced the 17 year- old me to the car culture, and I'll be forever grateful.
Bro, it did the same to me, but I've failed driving an suv now :(
me too bro coming home from high school and watching the money pit miata videos was the best time
Yeah man science garage and old B2B were so fun to watch
Bart, Nolan, and James taught me everything I know about cars since I was 11.
@@MrDaftJusticeyou didn't fail bro, as car enthusiasts we appreciate all cars, big or small, boring or not, and an SUV is just another type of car with its own purpose and advantages. You didn't fail, you are just driving something that the haters like to hate. Enjoy your SUV because it is just as fun as any other car if you really do like the experience of driving
Donut videos taught me a lot and helped during the lonely COVID times when a lot sucked. Keep up the hard work guys! Stoked you guys started this channel *Subscribed*

Breaks my heart to see the original group break apart 😢😢
If you actually watched this video, you'd know the "original group" hasn't really been a thing for nearly a decade. People are always coming and going, you're just focusing on the tiny sliver you watched out of that decade of content, ignorant to constance of change.
They aren't broken apart at all, they're going to be connected like the my have ever been before.
Reminds me of the breakup of Funhaus
But the video makes it pretty clear what we think of as the original was actually an evolution. It continues to evolve, and hopefully we all benefit.
It’s cause the company probably isn’t paying him enough, I thought this man was the owner of donut
This wasn’t a video. This was a love letter. I’m grateful I got to see it. Thank you James. I’m here for you man!

4 days 750k+ subs says so much. The community has spoken.
That's right
Definitely. I didn’t watch Donut because the executives at Recurrent Ventures are awesome. I watch because James, Nolan and the rest are awesome. Hopefully Nolan and Justin can follow suit and become their own super stars also.
First I heard of this, so I subbed just today.
who else looked at the 46minutes and thought there not going to watch all of this then ended up watching the whole thing
Looking forward to the next video
yo i didn't realize it was 46 mins until i read this comment! Just shows how good James is at this *hit
LEGIT. But not surprised…
Same here lol
Man, when someone can tell a story being genuinely appreciative and reflective, it's hard to turn it off. The spite and pettiness is what makes me stop videos. But this wholesome stuff? Watching to the end for sure.
yep LUL
What if all the donut homies prosper and grow their own channels and collab all the time. That’s the world I wanna live in.
Yeah buddy, some collaboration between speeed amd bigtime would be great.
@@benjaminwelch607

A multiverse perhaps.

Yea bud, i would get blown if the plot twist that donut has dividing their sub category into some channel and donut still being channel parents to them, much like real company and it was just like what their did in covid time 😂
Brooooo why did this vid make me almost cry like 5 times?!?
I haven’t been an active watcher of Donut for quite some time now… and now it’s making more sense.
As someone who is super into cars BUT is also super into a lot of other shit, I’m so stoked for you and what you’ve built already.
I saw a couple of your other vids before coming to this one, loved them all.
As an artist who runs their own business as well, I feel like the best results are when you arnt being held back and I see that with speeed.
This channel is already huge, so you might not see my comment, but super stoked that you stopped before the ultimate burnout and was able to move your creativity and passion forward to something you can call your own! 💜

James getting a donut tattoo out of solidarity for all the fans who also got donut tattoos is a great example of why we love James. He's a real one.

What if James, Zach and Jerry "left" by Venture Capitalist direction with a script/playbook to make new channels still tied to Donut Media for profit growth?

Not gonna lie, even on my own terms it’s king of intense, lol.
Better, I've never enjoyed Top Gear
“Phase 2” absolutely was Donut’s golden era. I can’t express the depth of emotions I felt just now hearing James say “This is everything you need to know to get up to speed… on Donut!” 🤩
Samesies. I didn't leave after Science Garage ended, not leaving now. This is just more good for everyone of us.
@@brandonwalker3056 there probably won't be anything left to leave before much longer, a lot of times once this starts happening between new owners and employees the channel/business only lasts a couple more years as the new owners piss off the employees more and more and begin having to cycle through them since the new owners always think they know best despite the employees being the ones who actually do
I didn't realize how much I missed hearing him say that until he did and it turned into fighting back tears immediately

I love how James looks at Nolan like his little brother. He’s so incredibly proud of him and wants to brag about him whenever he can.
You misspelled son
Same, I hope Nolan is successful, I'm worried he's the last "main" host at Donut. I love Nolan and don't want to see him fail on a sinking ship. Hopefully with all the traction on these new channels and the subscriber loss, Donut can pivot back to what made people like it, and Nolan can be successful there if he stays

Imagine buying a company that was pre-established with millions of subscribers only to disagree with the creative people that built it from nothing in the first place. Unreal....
Exactly. As soon as I read that Donut was acquired, I was like it is only going to be a matter of time before the corporate greed and non-sensical decisions take hold and change the channel for the worse.
@@gamersmudngrubshow6119 Watching all this go on with Donut and Hoon I'm hoping these folks don't sell in the future.
Yup, and probably not one of those Jack holes would know the difference between a spark plug and pinion gear.
Private equity does this to literally any business in America, every day.
The means by which they profit is just much more visible with a UA-cam channel. They are extracting value, not building a business.
@@gamersmudngrubshow6119 It's honestly impressive how long it took for that to happen to RT. But man, when it hit the fan there it happened FAST. But once they huge layoffs of 2019 it spiraled, it took 6 years but something awful (Ryan)/wacky was going on every few months there from then on.
Sounds like I'm about to get my history degree from professor James at the University of speeed. Super excited to see what you do, Mr Pumphrey!
