    No matter how big this channel gets, PLEASE don’t ever forget this format. Big budgets and fancy shops don’t make a channel… it’s the people and the projects. Hunting for a tools in a buddy’s garage and making multiple Harbor Freight runs is something we can actually relate to.

    Great to see some proper DIY content. Love it. And was kinda happy to see that you had the same oil pickup issues as we went through. We got an RB25 NEO same as yours. They're from the WC34 "Stagea" AWD wagon thing in Japan. Funny how Nissan used the same block across models, so you have two sets of holes drilled for the sump - one set fits the RWD style sump, the other set use bigger bolts and fit the cast AWD sump with the diff in it. With slightly different oil pickups - which is where the pain is. Nothing a grinder and some welding can't fix.
    Good luck with that turbo though - it'll be horrible. Promise. Pretty exciting above 5000 though. Just go G30-660 and you'll be happy. They're lovely and responsive on the NEO engines. And make an easy 500hp+

    Around 18:00 and 20:00 you guys mentioned the clearance numbers- being a machinist I had to say something. You read them as 18,19,20 thousandths which would be .018”. I’m sure it was actually .0018 which is one thousandth and 8 tenthousandths read as “one and eight tenths”. 18thou would be a lot of main bearing clearance haha. A good rule of thumb is one thou (.001”) for every inch of journal diameter. For aluminum blocks you want them a little tighter.

      As a non Machinest that occasionally uses micrometers my Machinest friends have told me you should never hold the calipers by the C, only the spindle. • @thomascarver1327
      @thomascarver1327 3 місяці тому

      @@currentliveoccupant Theres nothing wrong with holding the body of a mic. Heat will effect size; all the specs from manufactures are at “room temperature” little over 70°F. That means when measuring for inspection the part should also be at 70° to be most accurate. Your hand won’t heat up the mic enough to make a difference though.
      You don’t want to clamp real hard in a vise because you can effect the reading or damage the mic. These guys had some soft jaws in their vise which helps. They do make special mic specific stands for setting a bore gauge.

    @22:34 I love it when you show how parts work. I'm not in a financial place to be buying and moving all these parts so learning what they are, how they work, and how some are better for certain tasks than others based on certain criteria, that's why i like you guys and what you're doing now. please keep showing me that anyone can learn to work on an engine. BRING IT TO THE MASSES!
    Plz

    This is a backyard field very refreshing to watch. I wish they had a clock that was counting up the time. They have spent to get to that point. A lot of people do understand how hard it is to get the right parts. The right tools, especially when working in a new space.

    I'm SO glad to have you guys back, and especially this old form of chill, technical, back-to-basics content. I do wanna mention something. Maybe I'm getting old, but I really dislike high-energy, highly edited content. I get that it has to be this way at least during the intro for viewer retention, but please don't overuse jump-cuts, sound effects, on-screen text, etc. I get it's also a stylistic choice, but you can let the content speak for itself. I don't think there is a need to over-hype the video before we got very far into it. But the rest of the video is flawless and makes me super stoked to have this content back!

    Love donut, you two made a big impact there. So many car related channels are breaking down at the moment and it's all for the better. Feel the content degrades when decent channels have been bought out by a much larger company. They may have good intentions but looking at other channels that have had similar things happen you have 100% made the right move. I subscribed as soon as I saw you pop up on UA-cam home. In regards to decreasing your tips were good but do you have anyone that ice blasts near you that you could collaborate with ? Works an absolute dream, and that's for engine and all underbody.
    Much respect. Excited to see your ideas come to fruition. 👌

    Cool trick for getting 60 degree turn quickly is to mark one flat on your 6 point bolt head and rotate to the next flat, as each flat would be considered 60 degrees. Sick vidyas boys, keep it up!!
