Cameroonian English is much more close to the ENGLISH Language than Nigerian pidgin.
The different regions have got their own version of Cameroon pidgin. Cameroon pidgin has more or English and some influence from the languages spoken in the NorthWest region, and from the South West regions. Meanwhile Former British southern Cameroonians who live in the Former French East Cameroons have influence of the French language in the way they speak pidgin English.
Its 80% easier for someone who has never heard pidgin english to pickup some words from Cameroon pidgin unlike Nigerian pidgin.
reme...mother, repe, father...,rese...sister, are french pidgin english influences

Nigerian here, visited Sierra leone many years ago and based on my observations it's very similar to Camerounian version. It is my opinion that Nigerian Pidgin is quite watered down and relies on a much heavier influence of English making it easier to understand. The Cameroonian and Sierra leonian version to me seem more comprehensive and creole like. I feel they have a more authentic version. The Naija version is just too light.

    • @africanchild2618

All of you be saying "warri this, warri that" I've watch battabox series in warri and I understood what they were saying. Just noticed they have an accent which is very different and more pleasant to the ears. In Cameroon we would describe that as a "talkette" or "watizer". Warri people just seem to watize when they speak with a bit more expressions.

i had a nigerian friend who always came to our home and asked me "you dey eat?". i always died of laughter when he asked that. seriously, Nigerian Pidgin english sounds funny and innocent. cameroonian pidgin on the other hand sounds very serious and powerful. it can easily be used to signify toughness and confidence or "wiseness" as we call it. in words like "wuside you di go", that 'wuside' will likely be a combination of 2 words like "Who's side"; since we like playing with words alot.
Cameroon pidgin has graduated from that Level and is now a creole (mboko). Nigerians, There Is Nothing To Compare. Wuside Wuna Di Go?

Hi owner of this channel🙋🏽🙋🏽 In Cameroon our pidgin is a mix of French, English, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, German and native words, not a broken English.
Drose=pants is a german derived word which (hose is the right German form)
Pikin=child is a spanish/Portuguese derived word (pequeño or pequeno). It's pronounced pikino it those languages (it means little in both languages)
Pay=country is a french derived word
    Shidong=sit down is english
    And so many more
So cherry stop assuming pidgin has to be bangah english cuz in Cameroon pidgin is no way near sounding like English in Cameroon.

This video does not do Cameroonian pidgin justice. Cameroonian pidgin is mixed with local languages and some French words that have been thwarted. "Ndiba" which means water, comes from duala. A local language.
Even our expressions are so funny in their context. For example, if a boy sleeps with a girl, he will say "I Don broke da nga e calé". Calé comes from the French word " caleçon", which means "Pant" . As in underwear. So literally it translates as " I have broken that girl's Pant." Nga = girl.
Another one is "Da tif man don enter coffee." Which means "the thief has disappeared." The story behind this expression is that, the coffee plant is low. And so, if someone runs into a coffee farm, it would be hard to see them because of their low plant and their low leaves.
Man! I could go on forever. And the funniest thing is that people from the south west region of Cameroon speak pidgin a little differently from people of the North-west region. I can tell, by the expression someone uses, where they come from. It's crazy

That’s the definition of pidgin. It is a mixture of different languages with English being the primary one. So when you use wahala in your pidgin, is it pidgin Yoruba? Cameroon has different types of pidgins, the one spoken in Benin which the old guys understand, the Coded street one called Mboko, and the other one mix with French

well i think the Cameroonian pidgin is the best pidgin so far because a Cameroonian who speaks pidgin can get evry pidgin word spoken by a Ghanaian and Nigerian.. And also the word (wuside) is like the broken form of the word (which side) so to make it easy and quick for pronounciation they say wuside. so the sentence will be wuside u di go, which for someone who has the patience to pronounce would take the time to say which side u di go.. very easy.. i loved ur article....
