The Bee Gees a family band. All brothers....Barry, Maurice and Robin, who were fraternal twins, and Andy. Barry is the only one left. Such great music!
Beautiful Bee Gees, the first time i did listened it was on the radio introducing to the ranking two days after go up at the first place, after that it was for so many long time at the place of Number one.
North London 1978 - Ten years old, radio on full blast, dancing with my cousins in our grandparents' back garden. My 17 year old cousin had bunked off school to go and see Night Fever (18!) and came back loving the sound track. The well dressed men in a rough area in the video fits well with the Night Fever film theme.
Ffrom Wikipedia: The music video for the song is of an entirely different concept from Saturday Night Fever. It was filmed on MGM Studios's backlot #2 in Culver City, California. The group was filming the movie, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on the lot at the same time. The video featured Quality Street-a set that was used for such films as The Three Musketeers and Young Frankenstein-as well as the Grand Central Station set used in the films The Band Wagon and the opening of That's Entertainment! with Fred Astaire.[10] As the group walks past one of the railway cars in the video, the words "New York Central" can be seen printed on the side of the train above a passenger window. The MGM art directors added this bit of authenticity because the actual New York Central Railroad operated several lines from Grand Central Terminal in New York City during the 20th century until 1969
I just watched their 2020 documentary on HBO and the brothers said this song was about survival during the Son of Sam serial killer days in NYC. People mistake it for a dance song because of the beat but it's literally about trying to stay alive! :) I could be getting my info mixed up but seriously if you are becoming a Bee Gees fan, you should check out that doc, it's called BEE GEES: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart.
I grew up on this. Mom & Dad throwing Parties. Studio 54 was big at that time. Though I'm a hard Rock Mealhead. I have my reasons of loving the Bee Gees. GREAT MUSIC 🎶😋😊
Been kicked around since I was born... Going nowhere... Inner city breaking... Somebody help me... Staying alive. The setting portrayed that very well.
I grew up listening to the Bee Gees, & you have no idea how happy it makes me, to see the younger generation discover the music we fell in love with !!! Barry Gibb, in my opinion, has the best falsetto voice ever, & what makes it so incredible, is that in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare! Thank you so much for this, they were brothers, & Barry is the last one, but please review more of their music, you will not be disappointed, & they span over years, & crossed many genres 😍 I also believe, that if there is music in Heaven, it would sound like the Bee Gee's ❤️❤️❤️
I don’t know if it’s there biggest song per say but It is definitely one of their most recognizable with their group. They’ve had numerous number ones and I think I read somewhere that outside of the Beatles they are one of if not the biggest selling groups of all time in the World.
The follow up movie named "Stayin alive" some years later had a great Bee Gees ballad in the soundtrack. "Someone belonging to someone" almost up there with "How deep is your love" and "To much heaven"
Not many people know but the bee gees were born on the Isle of Man , before they moved to Manchester England then Australia. The Isle of Man is a small island population approximately 80,000 in the middle of the Irish Sea. My place of birth. Happy holidays x
Singing in harmony is a skill and an has adds so much but so often those truly magical harmonies come within family bands. These guys are a great example.
The oldest and biggest music festival in the UK is Glastonbury. Every 3 day festival features, in a mid afternoon on Sunday slot, a set from a "Legend". A couple of years ago they had Barry, the only BeeGee still alive. The crowd was massive and so, so into it, the man was truly moved. It was a lovely thing to see. I'm not sure if it's available online but it's worth searching for, because it was a great set and it was gorgeous seeing how moved Barry was by the appreciation of the crowd. It was properly wholesome!
Wrong. The oldest music festival is Reading Festival which was originally called National Jazz and Blues Festival and which started in the 60's. Glastonbury didn't start until the first one in 1970. It is the biggest though you so are half right.
Outra vez, nunca mais ouviremos vozes tão perfeitas, divinas, maravilhosas e harmônicas como essas! Amo, amo, amo demais desde a minha infância! Bee Gees, The Best! From Paquetá Island - Rio de Janeiro - RJ - Brazil! ✨✨✨✨💖💖💖💖🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Any time you hear (birth) brothers singing, the harmonies are perfect. (Think Every brothers.) Not to get gross, but their larynx’s, nasal cavities, pronunciations, etc. are all in unison! 👏👏👏
Born 1954 and knew them since 1967, as they were on German TV, Beat-Club, singing 'To Love Somebody'. Was like thunder and lightning to me, got me totally. When I first heard 'You Should Be Dancing' in the radio, it was familiar to me, but didn't exactly know why, but suddenly I felt that must be them. And so it was!
That's right, I remember that from the wee course I did. I thought I might get carried away though and forget about the mouth to mouth part and simply destroy someone's chest by mistake 😄
When this song was released back in 1977 I was in the Air Force stationed in Okinawa. I was blown away by this song when I first heard it on my little radio while on the flight-line because it reminded me of my day’s growing up in Brooklyn, NYC. I still play it today, how could I not. The Bee Gee’s were great back then and into the 80’s, and for sure they’ll go down in history as one of the best groups ever. Thank you so much for your reaction to this great song. Keep up the good work.
My Dad retired after 30 years in the Air Force and we were at Naha 1966-68. Nice to see Okinawa mentioned! Thanks for your service, I have a good idea what military life entails and appreciate your efforts to support our country. Hope you had a good time on Okinawa; we were in junior high at the time and have pretty incredible memories of the experience. And I agree, the Bee Gees are incredible and it's so great to see the reactors loving them too!
Bee Gees is one of those groups where when I grew up I knew all of the lyrics because my parents had their records playing in the house when I was 6 and up. I assume they saw Saturday Night Fever in 77 and like many bought the soundtrack, which has a lot of the Bee Gees greats on there. I know a lot of songs from the 70s greats for the same reason...my parents spinning records and dancing throughout the house (Abba, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, etc.) Great review. I love your enthusiasm for music and the insights you offer to music production.
I just love your voice and personality...I can tell you are a genuinely cool dude and I really enjoy your commentary. Subscribed. I was in 6th/7th grade when this came out during the height of the disco era. Loved the big bell bottoms, long hair, and funky music at the time. This is famous from the movie Saturday Night Fever featuring a young John Travolta, who breaks out some of the iconic disco dance moves. Its a good movie. Also, check out The Jazz Singer, which is a true story about how Neil Diamond went from cantor to rock star. His voice is like a deep, smooth cup of hot chocolate.

I’ve been listening to The Bee Gees since the 60’s. This song is off the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack which was the second most sold in history. They’re sound is iconic. Sadly only lead singer Barry is still alive. Try You Should Be Dancing. Thx
As for as I know it is the biggest selling sound-track in the world. "Saturday Night Fever" is the soundtrack album from the 1977 film of the same name and has since gone on to sell more than 40 million copies worldwide. In the U.S., the album was certified 16 x platinum and stayed at the top of the album charts for 24 weeks, and the billboard charts for 120 weeks. And, in the UK, the album spent 18 weeks at number 1.
The lyrics follow the story of the struggling lead character (John Travolta) in "Saturday Night Fever" (the movie). He is a tough kid growing up in Brooklyn - working in a dead end job - and trying to become someone special by improving his dance club moves. The first time I heard this song I was 11 years old dancing at a school sock hop. The teacher came and separated me and my girlfriend because we were dancing in a lewd way
There voices blend so well I think because they are Brothers, so they have similar voices, but Barry's was a bit stronger. It's said they got their name for The Brothers Gibb...The Bee Gees. They also had a 4th younger Brother who did his own solo thing, his name was Andy Gibb. He performed with them a few times. 1st time I heard this song...I was 10yrs old watching John Travolta strutting to it in the beginning of the Movie "Saturday Night Fever" at the movie theater 😀

I will give you the honest answer! I had to think about it for a while but, the first time I heard this song, the entire (teenage) neighborhood had gotten a hold of some shrooms (because there's lots of cows where we live, anyway,) we were all wasted out on a floating dock on a lake called Lake Aurora
I was around 10 years old when I first heard this, in the back of the family station wagon. My older sister was instantly in love; my mother was sure it was a sign of the End Times...
What's funny about the 'clean cut guys' comment is the fact the Bee Gees were very handy guys...always in fights, from rough areas and had plenty of scrapes with the law when younger....they could handle themselves..lol
I loved the early Bee Gees. When I first heard this song I thought they had sold out and gone disco. I hated disco in the 70s. I may have to reevaluate them,
Watch their documentary o, HBO MAX. I had no idea, but they didn't sell out, these songs (5) were pretty much completed when they received a called for a soundtrack. LOL, who knew!! Awesome and awesome documentary!!

Written for the sound track of "Saturday Night Fever" - John Travolta's first movie
Travolta made his movie debut in horror flick "The Devil's rain" in 1975 followed by "Carrie" in 1976.
Welcome back. Thought your pics looked familiar. Then saw my thumbs up on 7 month old videos.
Merry Christmas! TWO new reactions from Jay on Christmas day? That's a Yes please from me! Greetings from Ireland.
Disco had a lot longer legs than people predicted.
What's funny about the 'clean cut guys' comment is the fact the Bee Gees were very handy guys...always in fights, from rough areas and had plenty of scrapes with the law when younger....they could handle themselves..lol
LOVE your reactions! I would love to meet you, brother!
BTW, I heard this song probably before you were born lol.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year 🎉
The town is like a ruined life...JUST TRYING TO SURVIVE
prime disco era
I loved the early Bee Gees. When I first heard this song I thought they had sold out and gone disco. I hated disco in the 70s. I may have to reevaluate them,
Watch their documentary o, HBO MAX. I had no idea, but they didn't sell out, these songs (5) were pretty much completed when they received a called for a soundtrack. LOL, who knew!! Awesome and awesome documentary!!
Watch "Saturday night fever " to really get this song
Listen to Too Much Heaven by the Bee Geesand How Deep is Your Love by the Bee Gees. That song is a panty dropper.
