I grew up in the 70s and I wasn't a huge Bee Gees fan, but now I can appreciate how great they were. Thanks for this reaction!
I was born in the 70's.i too am just appreciating them
Their father was a drummer and their mother was a singer. There were four of them, their younger brother Andy Gibb was a solo artist as well.
All 4 brothers could sing....looking back I have a greater appreciation for thier talent
I just joined your group man !
I grew up with the BeeGees
They are best known for their music in John Travolta’s Saturday Night Fever
But you were asking about their family
They have been singing as a trio since they were young
If you look up their bio they sang in the sixties
A lot of black & white photos
They were very young
They perfected their craft over time
A truly amazing family of music
They had a brother named Andy Gibb who also sang but died years ago
He was very popular and hosted Solid Gold for a time with Deonne Warwick
He also had several #1 hits
The BeeGees are probably the greatest white soul singers of all time
They are unbelievable
A funny quick story man -
When my black family members or friends would say white People cant sing soul music like Luther or Al or even Marvin
I would always say with all due respect, you must not have heard of The Bee Gees !!!!
God bless you man
You have one of the best reaction channels
Thank you for this music especially during these times
Music brings all of us together
Keep up the righteous work
Music keeps us from losing hope
God bless you brother Thank you 🙏🏼
They were great.
Thank you
Bee Gees are yet to be beat for songcraft! How wonderful they were! TY!
As a kid growing up in the 70s listening to bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd and so forth, I had to hide my appreciation and admiration for the Bee Gees because I did not want to be goofed on. Obviously now I could give two shits! I love these guys!
Above The Influence .. You and all the other great Podcasters are keeping my spirits up in these strange times.
Means the world to hear that. I appreciate the kind words and thank you so much for watching!
You're right. Men used to sing love songs to us because there was a time that we were taught to honor and respect men for everything they went through to keep us happy and healthy.
It was give and take... Not just take.
Deanna Crownover sounds like a truly amazing time to be alive ❤️🙏🏾
@@abovetheinfluence9361 That time still exists to a degree (along with the tradition) in small pockets around the Midwest and moreso in the South.
My husband and I have raised 15 foster children.
Every single one of our girls decided to become houswives.
All got married after a long engagement and will stay that way come hell or high water.
They learned how to honor men, how to cook, how to take care of children, how to treat colds, how to keep a house clean, how to sew, how to sit like a lady and how to read men's body language so they could tell what mood the man was in before they decided how to approach them.
( I know it sounds bizarre today but, we are very traditional people... We go to church three times a week, women and men complete one another as opposed to competing with one another and we fry our potatoes and pork chops in bacon grease, we know the difference between cornbread and corn cake and the only cans you're going to find in our houses are mason jars that we put up ourselves!)
@@abovetheinfluence9361 It might seem amazing now, but I was our normal. I wish that I could share what it was like to be a teenager in the 70's.
Keith Dittmar would love to bring those days back again 🙏🏾
No doubt feminism had its place and women needed a voice but I think we achieved a good natural balance a long time ago where there was no such thing as a "gender role," men were men and women were women and came together and complimented each other naturally.
Now feminism is nothing more than relentless man bashing and victimhood status, attempting to drive a wedge between the sexes and social engineer us into a society of weak minded submission.
It has done a great deal of harm with much fewer marriages and far more divorces with the single parent child being the only real victim.
There was a 4th brother, Andy. He was the youngest and a solo act although he did sing with them on occasion. They wrote several of his hits. He died in the 80s.
My first slow dance with a boy was to this song. The year was 1977 & this album had been out for a few months. There was an after school dance held inside the cafeteria when I was in 5th grade. The boy (a 6th grader) was actually the son of my mom's friend, so we were family friends. He didn't ask me to dance because he liked me "as a girlfriend". He knew I had the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack album & loved this song. I'm 53 yrs old now & it still continues to be one of my all time favorite love songs (and it always will, until my last breath).
The Brothers Gibb later known as The Bee Gees started as a trio of young singers in 1958. Barry (tall one with beard & thick hair) is the oldest. Maurice (with beard) & Robin were fraternal twins. They also had a younger brother, Andy, who was a popular solo artist & had several chart topping songs of his own. Andy would often join his 3 older brothers on stage. Sadly, Andy died at a very young age (30) back in 1988. Maurice was the next one to pass away in 2003. His twin, Robin, would follow in 2012. Barry is the last one still alive & performing...
Please check out more from The Bee Gees (just google "Bee Gees songs"), as well as Andy's big hits - Shadow Dancing, I just want to be your everything, An everlasting love, & Thicker than water.
Trivia fact - When the Bee Gees first started out, they sang in a much lower vocal tone. You can search for video clips of their early days. They had some success, but it wasn't until they changed their sound all together by singing in high falsetto tones that their popularity really took off & launched them into the stratosphere, especially during the disco era. The Bee Gees were prolific songwriters & music producers. They've compose & produced countless hit songs for many other recording artists who went on to have great success...
The 70’s when music was music. Hard to go wrong with anything in that era. React to more 70’s please. Try the group Little River Band - Cool change.
Little River Band was awesome
Their we're we're 4. Gibb brothers Robin, Maurice, Barry who we're featured in this song and their was a younger brother Andy who passed away very young, who was a very accomplished Singer in his own right, so I recommend checking him out at some stage. The Gibb boy's are originally from Manchester, England, they moved to Australia in the fifties where in 1958 they formed the Bee Gee's, they then went back to England in 1967 to pursue their musical aspirations, but they really took of around the world after the release of the movie Saturday night fever, starring John Travolta, so anyways my man,new subscriber, loving you're work, looking forward to more, All the Best. From 🇦🇺😉
Oh wow! I thought they were an American band this entire time! Appreciate the amazing insight and info Damo!
@@abovetheinfluence9361 They did eventually move to the US in the 70's and I think all had houses in Miami. Barry is still based in Miami.
And now sadly, Barry, the oldest, is the only brother still with us.
michlkwitz but he got his “sir” title from Prince Charles of England, last week.
They weren't born in England but on the Isle of Man. Their parents were English. The IoM is not part of England or UK but it's a British Crown Dependency so technically they are British and certainly not Australian, as many claim.
I love the Bee Gee's so much. I was a young girl in the 70's ( born in 1969), but my mom and aunts were always playing the Bee Gee's. Then when I became a teen I started listening to everything by them. They have a younger brother than was quite younger than the others. His name is Andy. He was my teen heartthrob. He was a great singer as well. Sadly, he passed away in 1988 at the age of 30. They're phenomonal!
Thank you for your lovely and genuine reaction.
Good job brother !!!! Bee gee fan until I die
This tune started off 6 #1's in a row. The Bee Gees owned the late 70's.
Completely. Completely COMPLETELY! lol
“we belong to you and me.” SO romantic!
I was in high school when this song came out. Memories of 1977
I was in Jr. High
Their harmonies are on point because they been singing with each other since they was children
Love the Bee Gees , beautiful voices, only Barry left sadly, so many songs to choose from, thank you from England, stay safe
Can you turn up the volume on the music? Your reaction and openness is lovely! You’re going to LOVE “ Too Much Heaven” by the BeeGee’s . It’s sublime. HDIYL was in Saturday Night Fever- as was Staying Alive.
The Bee Gees wrote MANY songs for other artists like Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Samantha Sang, Frankie Valli, Yvonne Elliman to name a few. Their lyrics are emotive and catchy at the same time. I think what makes Barrys falsetto so perfect is that he also has a wonderful vibrato so otherwise his high notes would just be screeching lol! Please keep reacting to these guys, they never disappoint.
Thanks for the reaction. The Bee Gees are phenomenal and have amazing vocals. There’s a whole bunch of songs of theirs you’ll need to react to now that you’ve opened the flood gates. Next, try “Too Much Heaven”.
john rogan thank you so much for watching John! If you go to my videos section I have “Too Much Heaven” loaded up and ready to go! 😁
Above The Influence cool! I’ll be waiting to see your reaction.
Brothers from England ,the best in 70s and on and on❤️😘
Too much heaven is a great song by the bee gees!!
Was the featured dance number in the very successful disco film "Saturday Night Fever" around 1977. Was a fantastic film for that era.
With only Barry left, it's so great to have these recordings. I go way back with them to New York Mining Disaster 1941 to To Love Somebody. I loved their music then. I love it even more now in 2020.
Bee Gees are one of my all time favorites. Some of there older stuff like Massachusetts, New York Mining Disaster. Great songs. They are the only one to have a #1 hit in 5 different decades. Amazing.
Close Another Door... is amazing. Robin is singing lead. My absolute favorite Bee Gees song. Their dad was in a band and their mom sang some. Their mom wanted to sing more. But, their dad said. No, one good singer in the family is enough. 4 out of 5 kids set records in the music business.
Adding "Close Another Door" to the list! I wish I could hear their parents and see where the origins of such an amazing group comes from! Thanks for the info and truly appreciate you watching!
Thank you ❣️🎶❣️
@@abovetheinfluence9361 Their father had a 1940's band which he was the drummer. Their mother sometime was a band singer. Their harmony was so good because they were brothers; however, their father was a big Mills Brothers fan and they learned a lot from listening to The Mills Brothers. They started incredibly Young the Twins were six and Barry was nine when Barry got his first guitar. Their parents heard them singing and thought it was the radio. Incredible Talent.
Their father wasn't that good of a provider, at a young age they were supporting the family.
Like you indicated they always respected women never talked at them but talk to them in their songs. They're all family men and they hold family in a very high regard.
Good review. Anything of the Bee Gees would be a song that would have interesting harmonies and music arrangement in them. Once again great talent.
Love to see your reaction, music is a language we can all understand.
There was a fourth Brother Gibb named Andy Gibb, who had several No. 1 and Top 10 hits in the U.S. as a solo singer: "Shadow Dancing," "Love Is Thicker Than Water," "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away." Sadly, younger brother Andy died at age 30, in 1988, of heart disease after many years of cocaine abuse.
You got it right. Bring back the love song where the lover is respected.
80s kid but listened to 70s-early 00s music growing up. 70s music is amazing. Would love to hear you react to more 70s music.
It's so gratifying to see a younger generation of people that appreciate great music; REAL music. Since you enjoy the music of the Bee Gee's, perhaps you'd be willing to check out "Immortality," a song they performed with Celine Dione. (It's about 20 years after they did this one, so they definitely look older.) It's live, and just breathtaking. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/bZolfKgW5Is/v-deo.html Thanks for your reaction to this one.
Above The Influence, great channel. If you haven't reacted to "Nights on Broadway" by the Bee Gees yet, I think you'd enjoy that one. It's got a hell of a groove, and one of the more powerful displays of their vocals.
Have a listen to the Bee Gees song How can you mend a broken heart either the original or the Al Greene cover both equally beautiful Cheers
Try the "1941 New York Mining Disaster" song by the Bee Gees. All harmony and haunting. They were riffing in the acoustics of a stairwell, and this was the result. One of the hits in their first rise to stardom, of which there were several. Every time they fell out of favor, they'd come back again with a new sound. Try it. Even as a teen I found it wierdly fantastic.
I always think at London when I listen this song
My favorite song!
I remember when this song came out and the girl I loved.
I remember these guys. They did earlier stuff too that wasn't so heavy on the falsetto voice. "I started a joke" was one of there earlier hits. They were around for a long time. This is fun keep it up! It's spring in the arctic and the sun is up all night. I got some time on my hands...
Your smile says it all...
One older sister (deceased) one younger brother Andy (deceased), Barry eldest, Twins Maurice & Robin (both now deceased), their dad was a drummer and band leader. Barry when he was 16 was asked to write some songs, he wrote 6 hits in an afternoon. Geniuses!
Thanks for this, ATI - you are patient and appreciative of this stuff that I know from my teenage years - it's good to hear your reactions - I look forward to more... not just Bee Gees, but maybe some other melodic stuff from the 70's? I also loved your reaction to "Black water" by Doobies -Love to see more "Queen" reactions --
Can't go wrong chili out with the BeeGee's. When I was a teenager, they were huge! Their music was always playing in the discotheques.
Yes, they are brothers as in Bee Gees (Brothers Gibb). The older brother (taller, Berry) and the twins Robin and Maurice. There also was a younger brother that made it in the music industry, Andy Gibb.
Just found your channel and have watched a couple of videos. I enjoy your commentary and your appreciation for good music.
Jive Talkin (Bee Gees). Not covered enough, but my favorite. I love the groove on that. So far you've covered some amazing ballads, but you gots to get the groove on!!
Grew up with this group love them
Love songs during my days! Songs when it meant a lot to.those in love
This is a fantastic 70s song for the women
Hey my friend. Here's a great one. How can you mend a broken heart, Bee Gees. I will not let you down.
From the soundtrack of the movie "Saturday Night Fever". Taking me back to 1978!
Yes, they are brothers...The Brothers Gibb or, more commonly...The Bee Gees. There was a fourth brother, Andy, who had a solo career. They came out of Australia I believe.
You should really check out " Staying Alive , , Nights on Broadway , Fanny be Tender with my Love and For Whom the Bell Tolls ! Which is probably in my top 3 songs if theirs ! They have so many over oh probably 3or 4 decades . And yes their Parents were performers and started their boys off at a very young age !
Don't overlook 60s Bee Gees. "To Love Somebody" was written for Otis Redding before his passing. Great song.
Love these reactions!
Do "RUN TO ME" by the Bee Gee's....their harmony was never better
Enjoyed watching you enjoy this beautiful song and hearing your impressions! Not only did they write their own songs but also wrote for many other artists.
I love your channel. You have great energy❤️
Thank you so much LeAnn! I greatly appreciate you. 🙏🏾
Master Piece.
Maybe give their little brother Andy a listen. My favorite is Shadow Dancing, but I Just Want to be Your Everything is a close 2nd.
There was a ypounger brother named Andy, who was also a great singer and had a solo career.
SupaSoul Productions I wonder if they ever thought of adding him to the group... 🤔 Gonna go check some of his music out! Thanks for watching!
@@abovetheinfluence9361 He was too young when they started the group. But Barry did help him with his first solo record that had 2 big hits, Love Is Thicker Than Water and I Just Want To Be Your Everything.
@@abovetheinfluence9361 I remember in one interview I saw where Barry said that he thought if they had added Andy to the group that Andy wouldn't have died so young. He had a fatal heart attack at 33 brought on by years of cocaine abuse.
Andy was due to become the 4th BeeGee on the "One" album, I believe, but he died before that happened. There is a YT video of all 4 [including Andy] performing "You Should Be Dancing" at a Houston concert. Just FYI: their sister/Leslie once filled in for Robin; so, yes, all 5 children were talented singers.
Crosby stills nash "Helplessly Hoping"....Coldest harmonies as well. I believe CSN and the BeeGees were the best harmonizing groups of all. Time.
Nice ballad. Check out "Too Much Heaven" and Stop (Think Again), the latter is classic relationship song and it's a gem, but unfortunately got little to no air play. Give us your reaction. Thanks.
Yes! Too Much Heaven (official video)
He did that 3 weeks ago
Check out one of the nieces, Samantha Gibb. She's terrific as well.
There were 4 brothers. Andy Gibb was a super popular solo artist who died way too young. They all sang incredibly well.
Such a good song
Awesome reaction, great song. Check out their song Nights On Broadway. Another group I know you would like is Pablo Cruise. Check out their songs love Will Find a Way and Whatcha Gonna Do.👍
Brentl Howell adding Nights On Broadway to the list! 😊 “Pablo Cruise” is such a cool name for a group lol gonna check them out as well. Thank you so much for watching! 🙌🏾
You won't regret it, and thanks for checking out my music suggestions. Peace Out!
There was another brother Andy was a singer and teen heart-throb in the 1970's.
Another group from the 70's with great harmonies is Loggins & Messina. They were one of the biggest selling duo's of the Era.
I would suggest "Angry Eyes" for the great harmonies and even better instrumentation.
Yes keep going britt music good in 60, 70, 80. Try dark side of moon pink floyd, and more queen.
You should listen to "Nights on Broadway " it is funky compared to their other songs.
They had a younger brother Andy Gibb who died in the 80s. He had a solo career. He sang "Shadow Dancing ". It is great too
Smooth song... Smooth reaction... 😎🤘
Jay- Check out Jay and the Americans- their song: “Cara Mia “ the lead singer, Jay, has a wonderful baritone/tenor voice that he uses wonderfully in this song. The very beginning he is solo so make sure to catch it! Very enjoyable! All their songs are great!
kishka7winecountry with a name like “Jay” he sounds like a pretty cool guy lol 😎 Shall check it out right now! Thank you so much for the recommendation! 😊

Music from 70s and 80s are the best to react to, have you ever thought about setting up a patreon account? It's a website where your community can support you and have votes on which songs/bands to react to next.
You should react to Marcelito Pomoy singing "The Prayer" live on the 107.5 FM Wishbus. Also,
Morissette Amon singing
"Akin La Na Lang" live on the 107.5 FM Wishbus.
I promise you will be blown away.
You should just go ahead and watch the movie Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta. It features a lot of classic Bee Gees songs and it's an amazing time capsule from the disco era. Two other great Bee Gees songs you'd really enjoy are Nights On Broadway and Tragedy.
Love the Bee Gees, never get tired of hearing them. Great reaction 👊 So many songs to pick from but the one that came to me right now is Soul sacrifice from Santana, live version from Woodstock.
I'm sure people have said this before, but you should watch Saturday Night Fever. It is a great depiction of that era. Great soundtrack!!
When I was a little girl, I thought he was singing ♪♫ And you come to me on a submarine...& so, that's the way I sang it as well... =)
That's hilarious! Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, they changed their style and voices when disco hit so you need to do pre and post falsetto...I think they all did it. All brothers, so they all had a perfect blend. Younger brother Andy was a solo gig, he was younger in age than when they started performing, but the Bee Gees were world famous and then some.
Havnt heard from you in awhile. I hope it's because your uploading Pablo Cruise!😌😉
I agree with your 100%. I can't think there is a group that can meet or exceed the Brothers Gibb. So sad to hear that only Barry is the last of them 😔... what a tragedy to lose Andy the youngest at only 30 years old.
Yep they are 3 brothers here but they also have another brother Andy Gibb who did solo and he sounds like his older brothers. You might be interested to listen to his songs and you can start with I Just Want to be Your Everything.
Love the bee gees I always thought there high pitch was because of the tight ass pants they wore when I was a kid😂
I don't think this is something you would want to react to, but Robin Gibb did an EXCELLENT version of "Oh Darling" by the Beatles in the movie Sgt. Pepper - worth seeing.
These guys are amazing try Guilty by Barbara Streisand and Barry Gibb he wrote the song and sang it with her
Great insight bro.. Well done. Since your down the Bee Gees rabbit hole check out (Love you inside out) Then their brother Andy Gibb , Shadow Dancing and Don't Throw it all away
They were magical and composed so many songs!
Note: Never let it be said that we were homophobic, racists, ignorant or really cared about what people were wearing...as long as you had some great hair and some musical genius!
Queen, Bowie, Elton John...Hendrix, Journey, Iron Maiden, Prince, grunge and SO much more, c'mon now!
Reminds me of riding in the Rv in the summer on vacation. State campgrounds, Yellowstone.. I just wanted to ride my bike, fish and meet pretty girls! I remember being sad leaving one place after meeting a girl I’d never see again.. lol. This song came on as we left. Goofy I know.. think I was 11.
Saturday Night Fever ✌
For whom the bell tolls..you’ll really hear the mid-range
Barry Gibb has an amazing voice (they all do). There was another brother, Andy Gibb, also a singer. Barry is the only one left, sadly.
Stayin alive -is another Bee gees song.also "more then a woman"
Love the Bee Gees amazing vocals and amazing music! For a new group try Dire Straits "Sultans of Swing" think you'll like it a lot!
Dave O'Farrell thanks for the recommendation Dave! Adding it to the list now!!! 🙏🏾
BTW, they had another younger brother, Andy, that had a successful solo career. He had drug issues and died in 1988.
They also had a brother Andy Gibb who was just as talented. He died very young at 30. Listen to Shadow Dancing and I just want to be your everything by Andy Gibb.
Check out the song I'd Really Love to See You Tonight by England Dan & John Ford Coley. Thanks.
Great insight.
Brother........ Bee Gees “Love You Inside and Out” from their Spirits Having Flown Album......check it
