    The Chevrolet Impala (/ɪmˈpælə, -ˈpɑːlə/) is a full-size car that was built by Chevrolet for model years 1958 to 1985, 1994 to 1996, and 2000 to 2020. The Impala was Chevrolet's popular flagship passenger car and was among the better-selling American-made automobiles in the United States.[7][8]
    For its debut in 1958, the Impala was distinguished from other models by its symmetrical triple taillights. The Chevrolet Caprice was introduced as a top-line Impala Sport Sedan for model year 1965, later becoming a separate series positioned above the Impala in 1966, which, in turn, remained above the Chevrolet Bel Air and the Chevrolet Biscayne. The Impala continued as Chevrolet's most popular full-sized model through the mid-1980s. Between 1994 and 1996, the Impala was revised as a 5.7-liter V8-powered version of the Chevrolet Caprice Classic sedan.
    In 2000, the Impala was reintroduced again as a mainstream front-wheel drive car.[9] In February 2014, the 2014 Impala ranked No. 1 among Affordable Large Cars in U.S. News & World Report's rankings.[10] When the 10th generation of the Impala was introduced for the 2014 model year, the 9th generation was rebadged as the Impala Limited and sold only to fleet customers through 2016. During that time, both versions were sold in the United States and Canada. The 10th-generation Impala was also sold in the Middle East and South Korea.
    For 1964, the Impala was restyled to a more rounded, softer look. The signature taillight assembly had an "upside-down U" shaped aluminum trim strip above the taillights, but the individual lights were surrounded by a body-colored panel. The 409 cu in (6.7 L) V8 engine returned as the big-block option, as well as the Carter AFB 2X4-barrel carburetors setup for the 425 bhp (431 PS; 317 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 425 lb⋅ft (576 N⋅m) at 4,200 rpm of torque engines.[24] SS models continued to feature the engine-turned aluminum trim. Rooflines were carried over from 1963 unchanged. Back-up lights were standard.[25]
    All full-size 1964 Chevrolet station wagons received small rectangular taillight lenses mounted vertically, one for each side of the car.
    The Impala Super Sport became its own series this year instead of an option package.
    The 1964 model year is a staple of lowrider culture, and it is commonly mentioned in West Coast hip hop lyrics.
    The Super Sport was known as Regular Production Option (RPO) Z03, from 1962 to 1963, and again in 1968. From 1964 through 1967, the Super Sport was a separate model, with its own VIN prefix (for example in 1965-67 cars, 164 was the prefix for a regular Impala with a V8 engine, 166 or 168 were used in 1966-68 for a V8-equipped Impala SS). Super Sports from 1962 to 1964 came with engine-turned aluminum trim, which was replaced by a "blackout" trim strip in 1965 which ran under the taillights.

    The person who thought of the 'paint scheme' deserves a 'medal'!! I've never thought about 'blacking out' that 'mid section' on the '64 Impala, (or coloring it). It looks great!! 🥇 👍

    Man, that turned out nice.
    The window trim really stands out against the black on the roof.
    That's nice detail.
    Good job. 👍

    WOW and WOW again - this beauty looks like its ready to drive out of my monitor and on to the streets! Details make the build. In 1964 a pal who was one year my junior was given a NEW 1964 Impala 327 - my last year in school. I had a 1957 Pontiac 348 with Crane cam, high compression pistons and a B&M Hydro stick with M&H "Street Slicks". I smoked his NEW Chevy. After working and saving for years I paid for my "Poncho" and built it myself while his car was a gift. He HATED losing EVERY RACE to me...

      Definitely a 409, not a 427.

    I'm happy to see this kit back. I have one of the mid-late '90s issues of this kit and it's just such a wonderful model I decided to hold onto it although I thought of scrapping it about 17 years ago. This new reissue looks even more interesting and I might just have to get hold of it. Again a great job, and the decals Round 2 is putting into these kits are just so nice you can't just leave them on the sheet - you've got to find some way to use them even if you build the car totally stock.

    Fantastic build as always!!! This is a much better model than the earlier Revell '57!!
    Can't wait to get SEVERAL of there. Im a big fan of AMT kits anyways. See me definitely building a gasser, AFX style drag car, a SuperStock, and of corse a few street versions. I love custom building my favorite kits so... these kits will get opening doors, and trunk. Also I have several Atlantis '57 steerable front ends . All but the gassers will be fitted with those. The true gasser will get one of Icemans gasser chassis, and I will build all the interior and trunk detail myself.
    Great preview, and build!!! I look forward to all your videos! As always if a kit isn't up to my expectations I'm gonna call it as I see it!!
    This one surpasses all I could ever ask!!!
    Can't wait for the next video!!
    Oh
    QUESTON!!!
    What do you do with all these cars you build?
    If you display them WE all would love a video of all you finished builds!!!

    You mentioned before you didn't know why they chromed up the fan itself and or painted it a bright color the reason was to prevent mechanics from getting hurt and sticking there hands 🤲 down there when the engine was running while it was being worked on just a fyi for the day. Also a question ❓ please is how come you don't usually paint the door 🚪 knobs and window 🪟 cranks on the door panels it would be nice to be able to see 👀 them more often? Thank you for your videos .

  • @sborg9563
    @sborg9563 8 місяців тому +2

    Chris i think you were right the engine would be a 409 even though there was 427 version it was a special order in 63 impala sport coupe what I understand is this engine was intended for nascar and drag racing purposes
    Not likely obtainable for the average Joe to put in his 64 streeter
    I wonder if you found some info on an older version of this kit if it lists the engine as a 409

  • @blizzy6392
    @blizzy6392 7 місяців тому

    The big engine for the 1964 Chevy was the 409. To call the engine in this kit a “427” would be to suggest that it’s a ‘63 Z-11 race option 427 which was a high-compression, bored-out drag-racing and NASCAR version of the 409.

    Body appears ok, but looks like a lot of flash or less than crisp/straight edges on small parts elsewhere, needing sanding off. That doesn't impress me much, Round2.
    Moebius would not release something like this. As popular as '64 Impalas are, the AMT tool should be made sharper.
    Great choice of background music, Chris. The final build looks excellent.

    Cool buddy! But, that is not a 427 , I don't know why they put that on the box, it's a 409 looks to me like, with those teardrop heads or whatever anyone else calls them. I've got a old built up 64 Chevy, the Eliminator, and it said 409 on the box and everything, and it has the 409 decals, looks like the same kit to me, other than a few extra parts in there now. Anyhow, doesn't matter i guess, just figured you might want to know, ain't no biggie, unless rivet counters pay attention to that, you know? Anyways, Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and yours bud 🤙🤘✌️

    Not sure what AMT was thinking but that is a 409, not a 427. And Chevy engine with the curved heads and headlights are either a 409 or a 348. The factory hotrod 409 came with a listed 425 hp but in reality it was closer to 500 HP. That 409 was a hoss

    HEY-DAR 👊😎👍: I said this before and will most likely say it again, you do the best kit reviews. Others who try should take notes. If ever I see a kit on YT that I'm interested in I'll always check to see if you built it and check it out before I buy. It's also a plus that your a fellow Cheddar-head. I got an old Count Down Series from the 70's it's a 2 in 1 but share the exact same trees, yours has much better decals & tires. That engine is a 409 as long as you put the dip-stick on the passenger side. Watch You Later, (MODEL CAR😎MAN CAVE)
