thank you for this video I've been trying to find the right measurements for diameter of string and for number of knots but few videos seem to give direct and clear instructions. please could you help by making a short video of for example of each of the different lengths including 33, 50, 100 knots and how long the length of string needed depending of mm eg; 1.5mm or 2 mm for each of the lengths . for example I would really like to make a 100 knot prayer rope and a 33 knot and I have a 1.5 mm chord and I have no idea how long the rope should be ...

I have found a method that works well for me when attaching a Cross, or Crucifix to a knotted Prayer Rope, it is thus:
1: Tie a fairly loose four strand diamond knot.
2: Proceed to pass the four strands through the eye typically found on Crosses, preferably in opposite directions.
3: Thread the aforementioned strands back through the center of the knot.
4: The whole arrangement may be secured by using the strands that are now coming out the top of the knot to tie another four strand diamond knot above the original. However, one may use alternate knots that may be preferable.
I hope the above was helpful, and not explained too badly.
Post Scriptum: I would recommend having a fid, or marlin-spike to help with the tying, adjusting, and tightening of the knots.

    • @sophiasoliman8662

If you choose not to do a cross, you can do the same method of using all the strings to create one knot at the end. You can also cut off the excess and super glue that edge closed, and super glue both ends together. I hope this helps!

prayer rope is not for fashion or for calming your hands . It's for counting . For example you ought to pray 120 times Áve, María, grátia pléna;- so you must count not to prononce less . Most of the rope has 30 or 40 beads

And it is worth ordering from the priest in the church to read the akathist for your name of St. Cyprian and St. Justine and of St. Archangel Michael against magic and all enemies visible and unvisible. This is if you are baptized Orthodox. There always were sorcerers even after Jesus said it is from devil they remaind in every country and on every second or third family something is put from a sorcerer. And when you intend to go to command the akathist in the church, such thoughts may appear: "Maybe tomorrow, or next week", "Maybe I'm such a freak and no one is watching me (girls or boys, if you can not anyways find a pair, or you can for some reason speak only with one girl or boy.)", "The life is this way with good times and bad times", " I am so (if you have impotence)". etc. These thoughts come from demons from sorcery spells because only the prayer of the priest can 100% protect from magic and enemies visible and invisible. Jesus Christ told the apostles(which are the first priests) "I give you the right to untie everything that is tied in heaven and on earth.". Faith and creed is opinion, is how somebody thinks with his head. Repent is changing and not auto-humiliation as many think. May be enherited soul ilnessses like despresia, schizofrenia, Tourette sindrom, insomnia, bifurcation of personality etc. as they are from soul illnesses. Firstly everyone must to eradicate schizofrenia, depression etc. from him and after that to planify making children, in order that they will not jump from balconie, have blood cancer, be born bodytobody joined twins or two headed and etc. These soul illnesses can be healed by eucharisty. In the afternoon before eucharist day you have to read " The prayers before eucharisty" where are asked from eucharisty such things like: soul and body healing, sins forgiveness, protection from devils etc. It is better to go to confession in the morning in the day of eucharisty(before eucharisty)because from evening to morning everyone can make the same sins again and again and also other bigger sins. If not to forgive someone who asked for forgiveness it is not worth going to eucharisty because the sins will not be forgiven. Humbleness is awareness that in every doing you can fall and not auto-oppresion as most do and think, someone without auto-oppression is 100% free in moves in every direction, it is like a lion at freedom .Entering(submersion 3 times with a certain prayer and crossing yourself) in water springs of orthodox saints (which are near or in monasteries)give very much power and sureness to people with depression, panic attacks, schizofrenia and other soul illnesses, there are some springs of mother of God Maria that even heal soul illnesses.

I am somewhat crafty and enjoy the video thing I am not Orthodox but I came here to watch the video and with great interest but it's so sad to see the comments and I'm even thinking myself why does it have to be so complicated to work when it's to remind you key you into prayer and try to help you to not forget to pray and many other things could be said but when I see the comments man I just don't get it watching various Orthodox groups squabble Over The Prayer chords and the way they're not tied or not qualified to be used by other Orthodox groups now I'm not saying that this is wrong cuz Protestants we put little sticky tabs on the mirror in the bathroom are on the refrigerator in the kitchen to remind us of our prayers and scripture memorization but at least we don't squabble over sticky tabs on the refrigerator are on the dash of a car LOL

We are very saddened by your comment, which was written in a spirit that is antithetical to both Christianity and our Orthodox faith. It does not benefit a person if he claims to be ‘Orthodox’, but shows no love towards others. Our faith is not like politics or a sports team where it’s all about “us versus them” and “we are better.” If you would do some basic research, you will see that the prayer rope, the Jesus Prayer, and indeed, Christian monasticism as a whole developed in the Egyptian desert along the Copts. They are part of our spiritual heritage and we are happy to share them with all people of faith and good will who yearn to come to the light of Orthodoxy. We will certainly pray for you.
