    After looking at dozens of videos of Greek speaking orthodox priests teaching this knot with complex procedures (and reciting prayers while weaving) without understanding anything this was the ONLY video where I actually realized how the knots were made! May God bless you, in the meantime I really personally and sincerely THANK you!

      @@bernardomesilvathe prayer is the Jesus prayer. In English it goes “Lord Jesus Christ son of God have mercy on me a sinner” and the prayer is said into every knot so when it’s done and you’re using it to pray 1 knot = 1 Jesus prayer

    Very clear instructions. Using paracord makes it easier to follow, compared to a thinner twine. I must say, though, this is the most complicated way to tie a double-stranded diamond knot I’ve ever seen!

  • @anastaziuskaejatidarjan4711
    @anastaziuskaejatidarjan4711 6 років тому +40

    Hi Mitchell. You likely already know this, but when I figured it out, it fascinated me. This knot is the same as the diamond knot. Different hand positions, same outcome. This technique is much more comfortable than the typical diamond knot but requires much longer leading ends. And of course, there's also the fact that you make the sign of the cross several times in the process with this technique.

  • @GarrettTheFool

    For my brothers and sisters learning this: It is going to take some time to be able to quickly and easily get the knot to look perfectly symmetrical. Just start making knots, maybe practice tying and untying on a small strand of thread. When you get comfortable, make a bracelet and keep doing that.
    To be able to do thus knot quickly takes lots of practice and patience. I've made 2 bracelets and a 50-knot prayer rope and only just started being able to tie one of these knots (and have it tight) in less than a few minutes. And even so, before I pull the loops through, sometimes it is wonky and lobsided, but that RESOLVES itself (usually) if you just patiently keep tightening different parts of the knot :)
    Don't worry about being perfect, just get going and get the practice and feel for it!

      I'm sorry I took so long to reply, but I had trouble at that stage, too. I just wound up being very particular with how I held them on my fingers. If you still have tricks after that, you might try using stitch counters or baby pins. Close them around (not through!) the cord of the loop, and it should help you keep them separate if they fall again.

    • @-Ravenscroft-
      @-Ravenscroft- 5 років тому +2

      Use a lot more cord than you think you need, because at the end of all your knots, however many you make, you're going to put the two ends together. I like to leave between 18"-36" of extra cord before my first knot, and the same or more after the last one. Bring both ends together, making a loop of your knots, and then use them to tie one big SUPERKNOT with all the cords of both ends (should be 4 cords this time! Starting position should be doubled!) This knot is just like the ones you've been making, except it's huge-mongous and made of four cords. Otherwise, just proceed like you have been. After that, leave a few inches to fray into a tassel, or to tie to a pre-made tassel, and cut the rest off.

    For those confused about the Elijah Ravenscroft with the same icon as the publisher of this video--he's me. I had a name change, and Google doesn't like to let you just transfer accounts easily. All my other religious videos will be on my own channel, under this name, in the future unless otherwise stated *on* that channel. Much love and light.

      Hi, i want to ask about rosary with this knot. I made all the 50 parts of Hail Mary knots and 4 knots in between every 10 of them. And now I'm stuck in the intersection between those 50 to the first mystery (along with the cross). How do you make this intersection knot? Thank you for the answer and the tutorial.

      @@dodogonzaga I'm so sorry I haven't seemed to answer this yet, but basically, you take the ends of the string, all four strands, and make another knot by doubling them up, treating 2 strands as 1

    how much cord do youneed to start with?

      whatever you think you need, at least double it. these knots take a lot of cord. I think I started with probably about a yard (just under 1 meter) for each individual strand. i had some left over, but it wasn't a lot.
