I like the G5 design over the G6, currently have an S8 and the curved edges aren't as curved as the s7 edge; the curves aren't even as noticable anymore
Specs, software and what not aside, I really like the G6, probably one of my favourite designs for this year. Very minimal bezels, but still looks pretty hefty and substantial. By no means are the other phones this year ugly, I think the S8, U11, and also the KeyOne look rather attractive, but the G6 attracts me most ^^

no contest lol.. SD 835.. AMOLED screen n Wayyyyy better OS(essentials for a phone) is more important than features like water resistance.. wireless charging etc. LG is okay but their UI is utter trash n once if u try OP's UI.. there is no going back!
Hence why I mentioned the price. Neither are perfect. For a $200+ savings I'll take the SD821. I would take water resistance over wireless charging any day of the week as it's a gimmick I've never used, and I'm not a fan of AMOLED at all. The OS isn't amazing but it's not terrible, which is 100% preference based anyways. Slap the pixel launcher on it, the last time I loved an Android skin was in like 2011 on HTC anyways. Then there's design, which no one can argue is very outdated on the OnePlus.
If LG G6 had SD835 it would win best phone of the year for me. I'm not talking about speed, just how efficient and cool SD835 runs. My U11 stays cool all day and gets 6.5hrs of SOT out of a 3,000mAh.
To me it's not about the price, I would be ok paying original price for the G6 if it did come with SD835. By no means is this a bad phone, just not for me at this time.
The camera app on both the G6 and V20 are amazing. If it wasn't for the flexibility that LG provided in their cameras, I wouldn't even consider an LG device.
Samir Dubois mine too. Ordered it in black and it should be here by Thursday. It should be the perfect phone for me as i am not a power user but I consume a lot of media and like to take pictures. Durability is also a must, the only thing im worried about is screen on time though.
I just got the LG G6 black too, btw if you're looking for a rugged case that's actually decent for it, check out the Spigen rugged armor extra since you mentioned durability, i usually go through like 5 cases minimum per phone and it's such a waste of money in my opinion, went through 3 on this already, i stopped on this, i just wish i could return the other 2 lol, just need to get a good glass screen protector. Edit: Side note, I get usually 4.5 to 6 hours OST, that was better than my galaxy s7 edge, as a comparison if that helps which usually only got 4 to 5.
How have they not fixed it yet? Wtf. I was considering buying one, since it's the cheapest way to get the latest hardware, but even the ROMs for the OP5 aren't that great.
OnePlus have only just come out (few hours ago) with the reason, Apparently its a screen fitted upside-down. Sounds ridicules but read a few stories stating that. So you get it your stuck with it

Then I saw Damir Franc's video and he said that something in the display was not right but he couldn't describe exactly. It was a matter of time until someone find the issue.

G6 is the winner feature wise, but for me who need a phone to last a 3yr span, OP5 ticks the fundamental boxes: Performance, Battery life, Aging. I could live without waterproofing and wireless charging. The only main downside is the camera but I can live with that. I am a G series owner and I fear LG UX doesn't age well
Do you think that the OP's camera is much worse than the camera on the LG - or are they comparable? Also, is the wide lens on the LG worth having on a phone?
to be fair he lives in a country that can't get it so he was referring to whats available for him, but yea the ones with the Quad Dac make this even a better choice over the One+5, especially for someone like me who can easily handle the older chipset and rather have all those features the G6 brings instead.
I agree. I'd sacrifice the better performance and battery life of the OP5 for the nicer design, better cameras, 2k screen, water resistance and SD card slot of the G6. Plus the G6 is likely to be better supported as far as software updates go.
ben owen Tbh what I'm most worried about with OP is that it won't get the standard 2 years of software updates. The OP2 from 2015 won't be getting Nougat at all, and there's talk that the OP3T might not get updates after the next major Android release. I don't root my phone (I know many do) so I want updates for at least 2 years.
LG G6 doesn't have a better camera. Check out the dxo scores. One plus is only going to improve the beast with its updates. I will sacrifice the 80$ for a better phone.
No oneplus update support is actually very good compared to lg g6.... I’m soon getting a new phone and I need to keep it for around 3 years.... LG g6 is more future proof hardware wise but software wise it is the oneplus 5. That’s why I think I should get the oneplus 5 for that smooth performance for a few years☝🏼👍🏼
American Because computers are like 50 times the size of a phone? Phones have to be compact. So they can fit in your pocket. You can't just switch parts out like that. They would have to be MUCH larger. You can't even do that on laptops or compact computers which are also much bigger than a phone.

The G6 camera is so so so good.. that it makes you take the phone out and take some snaps in every given opportunity.. I had a S7 edge but this is something else.. And then there is the wide angel shooter..
Unlocked G6 owner here, its only weakness is selfie cam at only 5 MP. I do not care however about selfie pics. Let's hope that LG keeps us current with Android system updates.

I disagree for $480 you get a great phone with solid performance and a from what I've seen a well above average battery life. It's biggest flaws in my opinion is that design looks outdated for 2017 and lack of carrier support, if you can get past those things it's a great buy.
Great video! one that I was waiting for. The first thing I did after finding out about the price of the Oneplus was to check the price for the LG G6, and I immediately found it for 420€ compared to 500€ for the Oneplus. I have a Oneplus 3T, so I'm not inclined to switch, but I think Oneplus made a huge mistake with this price

Might as well buy a used phone off of ebay & if the phone is under warranty but you dont have the receipt it does not have warranty lol, LG is garbage, I had multiple G4,G5, G flex & an LG texting phone & thr G series is the most garbage I even got one new from tmobile & never again lol, 99 problems & thet lost 1 customer lol.... A lot of eBay lg g6 are h870ds variant, which means it does not work well with T-Mobile(no band 2 support). I'm not so sure about the warranty of a model that was not supposed to be sold in the US. Consider all that, I would go for oneplus 5.
Oneplus isn't just the specs -_- it's the community, the roms, the ease of unlocking the bootloader, no bloatware.. Company not voiding warranties for unlocking the bootloader, rooting, rom'ing, etc. Every single video I've watched about the oneplus 5 vs x device has failed to mention this, and to a lot of people who ACTUALLY OWN IT.. it's the main selling point of the device..
for anyone in the UK, LG G6 is selling for £300-330 for the korean version (abeit through questionable websites) I took the risk and in a week im with my G6! For the price, £100 less than the OP5 its the best deal of the year. No complaints so far, i just put nova launcher on to make the phone look more stock.
The G6 looks like an attractive proposition. But these random lens cracks keep getting reported for them. Every year they will have some major issue with their flagships. Till last year it was the bootloop. This year the lens crack. Its frustrating!
The 1+ problem. Rising prices with every new release while the competition goes down. The 1+3 launched in the UK around £300 but after Brexit, they raised the price by an extra £20. Still a fair deal but it went up again to £400 with the release of the 3T and was an extra £40 I believe for the model with more storage which is really the model you want because it's non-expandable. Now with the release of the 1+5, the 128GB model is now sitting at £500. This is no longer a mid-tier phone. While it's still cheaper than a lot of the competition, that gap is nowhere near as much as what it was even just one year ago.

Thanks Juan, that's what I've been saying about the G6, here in the UK, you can get the Quad dac version for £110 less then the 64Gb OP5, so yeah a definitely better option, I ended up buying the V20 for £160 less then the OP5, can you compare these two? :p keep up the best mobile reviews to date :)
LG g6 is 41k and the top end 8 gig model of op5 is 37k while the cheaper one is 33k. The g6 at 37k would be a no brainer but in India however, the op5 is still the cheapest flagship money can buy.
People just don't understand. As someone who has owned a 3T and a LG G6, the 3T is just not as good a phone. GPS, cell reception, WIFI reception, waterproofing, the screen, the camera, general durability, and design. Oneplus phones are great but they definitely lack in a lot of departments that make phones nice to use. The perfect example is the screen. The OP3/OP5 screens are nice amoleds but only 1080 and not the greatest amoleds. This may not bother you in the moment but it will certainly bother you after a while and when you compare it to another phone. Also on paper you might think whatever about weaker cell service but just wait until you're lost and can't get google maps to find you. These things matter even if you don't think they would. It's often hard to get a real world understanding of a phone via tech review videos but trust me. The LG G6 is quality and great pricing. And if you care to spend a little more, protip: get the Hong Kong version with quad DAC.

I've seen really good demonstrations of the issue, but keep in mind it's not all 5's. I've yet to see it on mine, the screen is crisp and super fast

The first thing I did after finding out about the price of the Oneplus was to check the price for the LG G6, and I immediately found it for 420€ compared to 500€ for the Oneplus. I have a Oneplus 3T, so I'm not inclined to switch, but I think Oneplus made a huge mistake with this price

Gaurab Ghosh they charge double what the phone is worth to fix anything on it. Might as well buy a used phone off of ebay & if the phone is under warranty but you dont have the receipt it does not have warranty lol, LG is garbage, I had multiple G4,G5, G flex & an LG texting phone & thr G series is the most garbage I even got one new from tmobile & never again lol, 99 problems & thet lost 1 customer lol.... Im writing this from trash G5, if you want a real phone get galaxy s8 its beautiful & 1000x better
I'm sold by the design of g6. That face design at the back of the phone has swayed me towards LG
A lot of eBay lg g6 are h870ds variant, which means it does not work well with T-Mobile(no band 2 support). I'm not so sure about the warranty of a model that was not supposed to be sold in the US. Consider all that, I would go for oneplus 5.

Oneplus isn't just the specs -_- it's the community, the roms, the ease of unlocking the bootloader, no bloatware.. Company not voiding warranties for unlocking the bootloader, rooting, rom'ing, etc.
Every single video I've watched about the oneplus 5 vs x device has failed to mention this, and to a lot of people who ACTUALLY OWN IT.. it's the main selling point of the device..

for anyone in the UK, LG G6 is selling for £300-330 for the korean version (abeit through questionable websites) I took the risk and in a week im with my G6! For the price, £100 less than the OP5 its the best deal of the year. No complaints so far, i just put nova launcher on to make the phone look more stock.
The G6 looks like an attractive proposition. But these random lens cracks keep getting reported for them.
Every year they will have some major issue with their flagships. Till last year it was the bootloop. This year the lens crack. Its frustrating!
The 1+ problem. Rising prices with every new release while the competition goes down. The 1+3 launched in the UK around £300 but after Brexit, they raised the price by an extra £20. Still a fair deal but it went up again to £400 with the release of the 3T and was an extra £40 I believe for the model with more storage which is really the model you want because it's non-expandable. Now with the release of the 1+5, the 128GB model is now sitting at £500. This is no longer a mid-tier phone. While it's still cheaper than a lot of the competition, that gap is nowhere near as much as what it was even just one year ago.
I don't know where you guys are finding an unlocked G6 here in the US that is cheaper than 479. I would love to know where.

Have both as my drivers and I can 100% say I prefer the LG G6. The OP5 is just not up to scratch for a 2017 flagship

... Good job on the comparison... but shouldn't leave out the lastest with the OnePlus 5... Jello effect when scrolling the screen... and no fix coming because OnePlus says it's a normal thing...

the audio bit is kind of unfair, you forgetting that the LG G6 has international version with dedicated audio component.
I really had high hopes for the OnePlus 5... Unfortunately, they disappointed on the features I care about most: water resistance, battery performance & design. Waiting for the Pixel 2...

Thanks Juan, that's what I've been saying about the G6, here in the UK, you can get the Quad dac version for £110 less then the 64Gb OP5, so yeah a definitely better option, I ended up buying the V20 for £160 less then the OP5, can you compare these two? :p keep up the best mobile reviews to date :)
LG g6 is 41k and the top end 8 gig model of op5 is 37k while the cheaper one is 33k. The g6 at 37k would be a no brainer but in India however, the op5 is still the cheapest flagship money can buy.
For me this has become durability and better camera vs dash charging and almost stock android. really cant choose

People just don't understand. As someone who has owned a 3T and a LG G6, the 3T is just not as good a phone. GPS, cell reception, WIFI reception, waterproofing, the screen, the camera, general durability, and design. Oneplus phones are great but they definitely lack in a lot of departments that make phones nice to use. The perfect example is the screen. The OP3/OP5 screens are nice amoleds but only 1080 and not the greatest amoleds. This may not bother you in the moment but it will certainly bother you after a while and when you compare it to another phone. Also on paper you might think whatever about weaker cell service but just wait until you're lost and can't get google maps to find you. These things matter even if you don't think they would. It's often hard to get a real world understanding of a phone via tech review videos but trust me. The LG G6 is quality and great pricing. And if you care to spend a little more, protip: get the Hong Kong version with quad DAC.
