Love this phone. used it 2 months. 1) there is quick notification button > Setting > Display > home touch button > button combination > insert notification button. 2) there is stock Android home UI > Setting > Homescreen > Select home 3) yeah, not everything is true full screen.
With my LG G6, I can go through a full day with about 30-25% remaining. I use it moderately (at 50% brightness and use it for social media and UA-cam.) Pretty good battery for me, and it recharges relatively fast too.
What version of software u use? The latest update? I am in dilemma which one to buy, G6 or S7 (regular, not edge). Camera for photos (auto mode) and battery are my priorities
Andrej Stojcev I'm still running Android 7.0. Last update I got was about 2 weeks ago, but don't expect fast updates from either companies. I actually used to have the S7 and I'd say the camera is slightly better than the G6's. The G6's camera does tend to over sharpen images, and is not the best nor worst in low light conditions. However, I did get through the day easier with the G6. But if you're looking for a new phone, I'd wait for the Pixel or V30 to come out.
I am not interested in updates as long as it runs smooth and stabile on basic version. I only do updates if something is wrong with existing version or newer version brings some improvements in battery life or new (revolutionary) features. I have Nexus 5x, still run on Nougat and everything works just fine. It's a great phone for me, but the lack of ram memory and poor battery is the reason I want to change it. Did you have any problems with scratching camera glass? I am sure that Pixel2 and V30 are way better phones, but they are out of my budget. I am looking for a phone up to 400 Euros, and for that price I can find both S7 and G6 in my country.
Andrej Stojcev Well, you'll get good performance from both of them. The only thing is that the S7 has a slightly better camera, and better screen (since it's an OLED). While the G6 has slightly better battery performance, that along with 4GB RAM and a newer Snapdragon 821 chip. (The Galaxy has the Snapdragon 820)
Justin Hing people who would consider the G6 now is mainly considering it due to the deal pricing you can get. V30 will take at least 3-4 months before any good discounts. (Excluding the US, the deals there for LG phones are insane)
Ron Asllani no issues with the software the phone is buttery smooth.but am still on android 7.0 it seems like no 7.1 update and just jumping all the way to oreo
the wide angle lense and the water resistance are the reasons i bought this phone and i have not regretted my purchase! this has to be the most underrated phone of 2017! if only people looked beyond samsung and apple devices :(
Here in India the G6 price has dropped by 26% since launch. Now costs exactly as much as a one plus 5 8GB variant. With some sales/discounts G6 is cheaper than than OP 5...
WELL NICK ACKERMAN DO U SAY THAT ME GETTING IT ON OCCASION BUY SECOND HAND IS BETTER THAN GETTING THE OTHER CHOICE I HAD WHICH IS A GALAXY S7 PRICED NEARLY THE SAME ??
Avi FiBe You should see the pixel them on the play store for the G6. This theme, coupled with Nova launcher fixes every complaint I've seen about software, plus you still get handy LG features like customizable on screen buttons, double tap to wake and sleep and always on display. The only complaint I have with this phone is the front camera should have been 12 megapixels.
I just recently purchased my LG G6. And I have to say I am happily obsession with this phone!!! Seriously!!! Specially the camera!!! Wow!!! It is the best I have used!!! Well done LG!!!!
Jamie I have a #GalaxyS8 & I love it that's my baby but I love it so much I feel I dont use it enough cuz its so fragile. I work for the railroad & they now adapted the BYOP method & no way was I bringing my S8 here! So I bought a G6 on Amazon took it to Cricket wireless here in Chicago & man let me tell you I found room in my heart for a 2nd baby!! Lol The phone is good UI sucks but the camera is better then the S8 in my eyes all due to the wide photo taking it offers! Why dont more phone makers do this its brilliant! Thanks for the video & Im a believer the G6 is a great phone!
+Pocketnow there is a reachability option for the G6, you just have to enable it from the settings. Once you enable it, you just swipe right or left on the navbar to toggle one-handed mode
I am a bit hesitant. Seems to be the first LG phone without any bootloop issues or image retentions. If they could somehow make a couple more phones without such issues, I may recommend it to some of my friends.
@@hammad310 yes, something I've heard about for 5 years from random people on the internet yet between me, my sister, my mother, my roommate, and an ex, we've collectively owned over 30 LG devices, and not one of them has ever done this bootloop. It's so much internet urban legend it's ridiculous. Oh noez. 20 recorded cases of bootloops out of over 2 million devices. Left. You have better odds of getting hit by lightning
There is actually a software option called mini view that you can use that makes reaching the top of the screen alot easier. You swipe left or right on the navigation bar and it shrinks your display.
Love my G6 but the sharpening algorithms are pretty harsh. I shoot raw and snapseed it. The results are still noisier than my old Lumias but easily match them for clarity and outstrip them for versatility. I still miss those Zeiss lenses but now can't do without the wide angle, which is why the Nokia 8's monochrome sensor was disappointing for me. If Nokia doesn't take up the wide angle baton then I guess I'll be LGs for a few years to come.
This video came up in the perfect time ! I'm currently really looking to upgrade from a galaxy S6 to the LG G6 ! I really like taking pictures and the wide angle is exactly the thing i need ! A great phone for only 450€ ! Great video 👍🏻
Says the software provides 'no reachability options', demonstrates by stretching for the notification bar, all the while one of the 5 shortcut options Jaime chose to be in his navigation bar automatically pulls down the notification shade :/
can you tell me how long ago you had a software update? and what is the current security patch? G6 is one of 2 phones that I am still thinking to buy and I want to know what is the status with software updates :)
So many post mortem complaints about battery life. Admittedly, I haven't been using it long, but in my weeks, I have found battery life to be solid. Maybe everyone is using active display? I don't use that feature as I have a smartwatch, and always on makes little practical sense for an LCD display.
The G6 actually uses less power for it's always on display than Samsung does on the s8. Sad but true. I keep hoping that people will wake up from the amoled is better display and more power efficient dream world. Unless you are running an all black or dark grey UI your amoled display actually uses MORE power than an IPS LCD display. Also since it's more than likely a pentile display it is actually less sharp as well. That and it will get dimmer over time. Will color skew. Is way more receptive to image burn in. And it's different colored pixels will age at different rates. And it's more expensive to make. Yeah. Deep inky blacks and punchy colors don't happen in real life. Neither do filters. Or photo editing. Stop pretending you live in a dream world.
I still have the LG G3 and it's only just starting to get a little tired now considering it's coming up to 3 years old. Looking forward to the V30 as a worthwhile replacement though.
about the UI you can change the launcher without downloading anything you just have to go to select home in the settings and change it to home and app drawer and done. I don't know why everybody complains about that if it's super easy to change it
Hello Jaime Rivera. That video you posted filmed by the LG G6 was in Lisbon, Portugal. I'm so glad to see a review of such a nice phone at my beloved city. :D I would love to meet you personally and discuss something with you about the next smarphones (note 8 and LG V30). If you're still at Portugal i'll pay you a coffe :D. Best regards. Marcos Dordio.
I just sold my Samsung S8 and for the money of a 5 month old Knox 0x1 phone, bought a weekend offer here in Denmark: An international LG G6, a LG Style smart watch and a B&O headset in a bundle for the price of a used S8. And could not be happier. Better battery life. A much more fun and versatile camera package, as well as good community support in regards to custom roms because of the unlocked bootloader and Snapdragon processor. I totally agree with this after the buzz review.
Panino Manino I have the same custom button. It's so you can pull down the notification tray without reaching up to the top of the screen. I also used this on the v10.
Oh, by the way, I live 8 miles outside of the path to totality for the eclipse tomorrow. I will be taking a time lapse video of that event and posting it to Google+
If you want this phone for the Wide Angle feature, wait for the V30 so you don't get distorted go-pro like images as they've resolved it in the V30. I had this phone for 2 weeks and put it to use in multiple every day activities. But ultimately I returned it for an S8 because I could not stand the grainy-ness of the front facing camera and the ghosting it has. As someone who makes a lot of skype and video calls, the G6's front camera is what made me return it for an S8, which does the job just the way I want it to. Yes, the rear camera has good quality but I've found if you zoom in just the slightest bit, the pixels become VERY noticeable. So that plus the Wide Angle distortion, really is what kills this phone for me. Although I do admit that the aesthetic of this phone is very admirable and preferred in my experience over the S8, but that just isn't enough to convince me to have kept my G6. I've also found in my experience that the S8 has about 30-60 minutes of longer battery life due to a newer and more energy efficient processor it has compared to the G6 even though the G6 has a larger battery. The G6 is a great phone without a doubt, but I feel UA-camrs review less mainstream phones in only the good light and not the bad. I can say though that this phone would have been top of the line, in 2015. But this phone simply isn't worth what it costs in 2017.
Watching on my LG G6. I know it's tad slower than oneplus5 but no stutters or app crashes so far . After so many Noooos from friends , Proudly bought after Pocketnow review and i can say am Satisfied with this G6.
its really surprising how the market disowns the g6s credibility and unfortunate because consumers are really missing out. I've owned a gif share of Apple and Samsung and the lgg6 has to be the most complete phone I've had. Its wide angle camera is uncanny and it really baffles and upsets me how other manufactures haven't followed suit.
Lg v30... that has my attention. I hope they keep the Quad Dac on all version. Glad im in asia and will pick up either the v30 or Lg g6 if prices go low
I owned a LG G4 and I kind of love LG phones but at the same time I think they just don't do a good job at getting across he great stuff of their phones and also they are not doing well in updating them as well which is a shame. Greetings from Germany.
LG should really invest more in their marketing strategy. Recently bought a phone and no reseller is recommending any LG device. The LG store is very quiet as well. The average consumer will not consider an infamous device. This device is great, especially the wide angle camera. But sad as it is, it just doesn't make the cut.
Hi Jaime. Great vid as usual. 👍👌 Could you do one like this of the Oneplus 3T please? I've been lacking sleep the past few days just thinking about which one to buy. I would deeply appreciate it. Have a good one!
Great review after the buzz! My question is this, I'm stuck between this and the 7plus. Been with Android for a while now but funny I still have a working ipod touch 3rd gen. Your thoughts. Thanks again for the review
I know the specs. What I want to know is if it's got any long term durability issues like my LG G4 does. It restarts itself, gets heavy burn in, I get around 2 hours of screen on time etc etc.
The only problem I had was the vibration I had to send it back to LG because out of nowhere it stop working.. But besides that I love the phone.. And of course more storage would of helped..
I'm a huge LG fan. I still love my G4 and I completely agree LGs UI and software are not the greatest but this was solved by switching to the Google Now Launcher. Now it feels like a Pixel, battery life is way better than before, and it's still got that AMAZING G4 camera
Love this phone. used it 2 months.

Justin Hing I think Jaime is revisiting the g6 to help bring light to the LG market prior to the v30 launch
dkimmortal the deals in Canada are non existent. Still over 200 on a 2 year contract or $750 plus tax (which rediculous in Canada) for unlocked.
Jaime Sherwood that is true considering that the G6 didn't sell as well as its competitors
Justin Hing
Same
Watching on my lg g6 ..i just love it .

Got the g6 about a week ago and I absolutely love it!
I just bought one. And I'm very happy with the wide angle lens and the manual controls of the camera. They're a joy to use.
I just recently purchased my LG G6. And I have to say I am happily obsession with this phone!!!

Did anyone notice that at 3:40 the battery dropped from 60% to 59% while he was talking about battery life.
1080p video sample was shot im portugal:D
Hi Portugal!

hi john how is the battery on the g6 thinking about getting one I have a s7 I want to return it
g6 camera nothing like it proffisional photographer should own this no need for nikon or canon
The G6 does have a screen shrinking reachability feature. Just swipe across the navigation buttons to use the feature
+Pocketnow there is a reachability option for the G6, you just have to enable it from the settings. Once you enable it, you just swipe right or left on the navbar to toggle one-handed mode

There is a one hand mode if you swipe on the navigation bar. I has to be enabled in settings.

Actually LG just released an update which activates an option to use "Mini View" similar as one handed mode for S8...
I have had a G6 since June and I love it. Battery lasts longer than my old s7, but coming from samsung to lg I do miss some of the software tricks
I've had my G6 for a few months now and I completely agree...this phone is significantly underrated.
Awesome concept of after the buzz. Great video.
Anyone know the game he is playing at 2:54?
Branden W. I also want to know this
Branden W. Skyforce:Reloaded
My G6 still flying high ✈️
I believe they are waiting for Android "O" to release before a major OS update.
Should i get this or moto G6 plus?
Picked this up last Friday at Best Buy for $280 new. Very very good phone and really love it !
got the lg g6 and its still dope
I just got my LG G6 and LG is offering a 2nd year warranty. Love this phone.
Switched from Iphone to G6, really happy with it
The LG G6 is so nicely put together. I work on phone repair, and I love how it is put together compared to the S8. Just makes way more sense.
What game are you playing at 2:54 ?
I still have the LG G3 and it's only just starting to get a little tired now considering it's coming up to 3 years old. Looking forward to the V30 as a worthwhile replacement though.
One of those rare phones which was out of date even before its release. If only it had SD835, the story would've been really something else.
Nice coverage.
The starting tune reminded me of old when Michael Fisher was also there😭😭
about the UI you can change the launcher without downloading anything you just have to go to select home in the settings and change it to home and app drawer and done. I don't know why everybody complains about that if it's super easy to change it
i have an lg g6 lgh870 and it has security patch lvl of april why ? i connected it to lg bridged and it says that my lg is updated i do not understand
When vlogging you were using an (can't grab the name) external stabilizer ? Or is it really that smooth?
i love it but what about the battery life after a year of daily using ? still good or not ?

I had an LG G3 and I loved it for the same reason I love the G6: the camera.
Has there been anymore updates for the phone after this video was made?
the last update v10t have an option for one hand +facial recognition + 1 july patch
The LG G6 with stock Android and current pricing could have been the best phone currently.
Just swipe right on the bottom menu and you can reach the whole screen! You can even set the new screen size to fit you fingers.

My LG V20 has the same delay. With the finger print scanner
Any update on G6's software update to 7.1 now?
name of the game at 2:55 please???
Scary thing is, the V30 camera should be even better. Also, battery life will be better on the V30 because of the updated processor
Can you recommend a good memory card for the G6 please? I have and the phone just saying it can't store pictures.
Love my G6! Really wish we could get a full screen option on UA-cam.
Now I'm feelin so fly like a G6
Watching this on my G6. I love it! Its such a perfect fit for me!
4:00s WHAAAAAAAAAAAT???!!!!!Jaime, what is that button in the bottom right at the screen?
Panino Manino I have the same custom button. It's so you can pull down the notification tray without reaching up to the top of the screen. I also used this on the v10.
Exactly, this button is old, so why was he complaining about that? What could LG add? Option to shrink the screen? Personally I don't like that.
Oh, by the way, I live 8 miles outside of the path to totality for the eclipse tomorrow. I will be taking a time lapse video of that event and posting it to Google+
No, just the wide angle lens on the phone. I did some tests and it does not seem to hurt it to point it at the sun.
Matt Anderson Cool. Do it for us.

If you want this phone for the Wide Angle feature, wait for the V30 so you don't get distorted go-pro like images as they've resolved it in the V30. This review really makes me look forward to seeing the V30 (finally with a P-OLED display!) and the LG-made Google Pixel XL 2!
You went to menorca?
Post any deals available on lg6
How about an After the Buzz for the s8?
where can i buy this online ? any suggestions ?
btw the latest software update adds the reach-ability mode
What’s your thoughts with the G6 camera quality compared to the Microsoft Lumia 950?
Jaime what is your SOT on g6

Glad to see you in oldtown Lisbon! Cheers

Great review after the buzz! My question is this, I'm stuck between this and the 7plus. Been with Android for a while now but funny I still have a working ipod touch 3rd gen. Your thoughts. Thanks again for the review
5:24 Jaime is that your brother??
I know the specs. What I want to know is if it's got any long term durability issues like my LG G4 does. It restarts itself, gets heavy burn in, I get around 2 hours of screen on time etc etc.
You didn't talk about speed decrease or snappy performance
The only problem I had was the vibration I had to send it back to LG because out of nowhere it stop working.. But besides that I love the phone.. And of course more storage would of helped..
Sold my P10 for a G6. Only thing I miss is the camera and the slightly thinner chassis.
I'm a huge LG fan. I still love my G4 and I completely agree LGs UI and software are not the greatest but this was solved by switching to the Google Now Launcher. Now it feels like a Pixel, battery life is way better than before, and it's still got that AMAZING G4 camera
