Absolutely. Very cool stuff. Sadly, even if I had the money for an upgrade now, I feel like the S24 Ultra would still have to be my go-to because I use the S Pen every single day.

Thank you for covering PWM flickering!!! Most people don't know about it. The flashing light causes your pupils to constantly dilate, getting fatigued and strained.
I actually know a cousin who was dealing with this, and has completely forced himself to go off the grid due to the fact that nobody could help him. Thanks for shedding light on it
The IR blaster is one feature I miss so much when I switched from a Xiaomi mid-range to an S23 ultra. Made controlling appliances in hotels and airbnb's pretty smooth and simple.
XiaoMi RedMi Note 4? :D Still my favorite nostalgia phone. For the fingerprint reader on the back (why dont they make those anymore) and the battery life and the IR sensor.
I had a one plus 7 pro for years and in 2022 upgraded to an S22 ultra. The main issue I had was there was so many bugs with the software that where never addressed. Maybe they've gotten better in the last few years, but I just don't see myself going back to a one plus phone.
The IR blaster & Aqua-touch is honestly fantastic stuff. If Apple announced just these 2 features as the sole new features of a iPhone, people would be extremely excited. They really seem that nice on a QoL level
They would actually do a full sized show with just their "I" blaster able to control their laptop, tablet, headphones, VR, pods everything... Market it as the "future" of technology, and then there would be ytube videos of how to HACK ur neighbor's TV and WiFi... (For context, these things have already been done 5 years ago, but it's just that apple would make it seem that they invented it) 😅😂 Also, their "I" screen with Hydro sense would supposedly work even if u got coffee on it and left it submerged in koolaid for a week... (Not sure why but they would surely advertise it that way)
Id be extremely excited! That would probably be the only feature having me switch from my iPhone mini. Until then I will keep that perfectly sized phone.

OnePlus 7T was one of my favorite phones of all-time. I've since switched back to the Pixel (currently have the Pixel 8 Pro), but I've missed the silky-smooth performance of OnePlus. But that's a bit nitpicky: from the Pixel 8 release a few months ago to the Samsung S24 release and now the OnePlus 12 release, Android-users have much reason to rejoice!
@ooogyman I too had one, one of the best smartphones I owned, my OnePlus 7T, but had to replace it because its board died suddenly 😢. Now I own the Pixel 7 Pro, which is so good in all aspects, except in the case of the battery life and charging speed. I remember my 7T could charge up to 60%-70% in just around half an hour, and of course it gave more than 11 hours of SOT with normal use. It was able to take high quality photos with the GCams and also smooth and stabilized video with the stock cam, even with the zoom cam.
I'm still using OP7T. Honestly one of the best phones of all time.urs still smooth and other brand new androids don't compare. The old Oxygen was just something else. Even the camera holds up to this this day (🤞🏻 since I've not really tested and flagships from last 2 years). I don't want to switch. They don't make phones like that anymore. The real reason why this phone stood out to me and just changed my life is the charging speed. I became a oneplus believer in a matter of minutes, I'm not even joking. I am able to use this phone for 1-2 days and then then charge it back up with that SUPERVOC 100W charging in minutes, it's a super game-changer that I never knew I needed. Having a phone with an IR blaster has been a life saver a few times. It's why I keep my old Mate 20 Pro in a drawer, despite it having a smashed screen. The question is, does it just interpolate over what the app serves already or can really overwrite it's running setting. Like if a game was designed for 30 fps, can you push it to 120 or just "create" frames to compensate?
@@alexandruilea915no,it just forces the display to constantly run at a fixed refresh rate, not the actual content of the app. Basically turns off LTPO for that app. For example,I have a Oneplus 9 Pro and I play game called PUBG Mobile which has the option to run at 90 fps. But my phone's display is designed to be forced to 60hz while playing games as to avoid overheating. So there's no way for me to take advantage of the 90 fps option. In this phone, you can just force the display to refresh at higher frame rates so when you turn on 90 fps option in the game you can actually see the difference.

The fact that the EU prices are so much higher than the US makes this a no option. It's 969€ for the 12 and 749€ for the 12R, compared with Samsung and Google prices, the OnePlus is a no deal.
Watching from my one plus 7 pro. I love this phone. Ive gone from nokia to samsung back to nokia then straight to Motorola. None of those phones have come close to my one plus. I just upgraded to a 12.
When apple introduced, USB C and the Titanium () as their new features, everyone is so amazed and talking and doing everything, When OnePlus introduces game changing features like IR Blaster, High PWM frequency and that rain drop touch, no one really talking about that. What type of a world is this?
I hope you're joking about IR blaster and "introducing game changing feature". Phone manufacturers have been putting them in phones for more than 10 years and basically every Xiaomi device has it.
Something called marketing. You'd be surprised at how many people use ads to make their purchasing decisions... OnePlus doesn't do any advertising so basically no one outside of techies knows about them
OnePlus has one of the best displays on Android I have ever seen. I have my OnePlus 8 pro and it still has way better display than my iphone 15 base model and also in comparison with my ROG Phone 5. The display is so striking, the colors are superb, and the QHD resolution really helps. The only downside I guess is they are really prone to amoled burns especially if you're using max brightness almost every time. Mine had a small one where the battery and wifi indicator is located. It's not obviously seen though.

The charging is untouchable and the battery life is awesome. Dual speakers and great display. It is on the fragile side due to the cirved screen. I have a busted top right corner. But for everyday use its a no brainer, especially at the price.
I really appreciate you listening to your fans and making this vid.
I saw a comment about bullying you into it, I hope you never feel that way, it good to understand what your audience want to see.
In any other year, I could understand the original thinking of skipping it, but oneplus really did something right here, and counting the oneplus open it's 2 in a row.
Keep making great vids, I'll keep watching.
I doubt he feels that way. As a UA-camr, he needs to make content that people will want to watch. When he says he isn't going to review something and then loads of people beg him to review it, then it's kind of a no brainer to make the video because he knows it will be watched by lots of people so will earn him some good revenue.
So, it's not being bullied it's responding to the wishes of your audience.
Bully ? Come on we gotta stop giving pity where it aint due. If anything, this is what he wants, he wants to know what people want to watch from him, more money
Totally agree. It's unfair for others to unsub because they didn't get their instant gratification. The culture is too good at writing people off these days.
If you are a tech reviewer you should be able to work on everything… It’s clear he leans towards certain brands compared to others
He was just waiting to review it at his own pace. He was one of the first to actually review a oneplus back in the day when nobody knew about oneplus
finally another IR blaster!!! such a major underrated feature. I used mine on the LG V20 everyday! so glad OP brought it back👍🏼
Thanks so much for doing a review of the OP12 Marques. Great that you keep listening to the community.

editors not doing their jobs
@@mrnarason Oh no, a human made a mistake

editor probably got exhausted editing Vision Pro vid hours before this
That actually made me a bit curious as to their workflow. Maybe I'm out of touch because I pretty much jumped straight from Vegas to DaVinci Resolve but I thought editing each clip on essentially its own timeline could avoid issues like that. Is editing timelines together like that not a thing on Premiere or Final Cut?
OnePlus is finally making a comeback with all these recent launches like OnePlus Open, OnePlus 12, and even the OnePlus 12R. Seems like a good time to get one...plus. 😂
Yes
Oppo-fication of OnePlus is a good idea after all 😅
Camera is still garbage so not really.
The camera is the deal breaker for me.
Not for me but battery is for me
Glad the comments from the podcast translated into a review. Lol..
To say this phone stood out over all the other tech at the start of the video, is great to hear! Having a Galaxy S from S4 to S20, this change is exciting 🙌🏽
RETURN OF THE IR BLASTER YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES. I was so sad to part with my LG G3 cos by the time I was upgrading my phone, no one was doing IR blasters anymore 😢
I have never forgiven Samsung for removing from the Note line. Literally my favorite part of that phone. You can control anything with and IR receiver, even with no remote! Also, be a little menace and change a sports bar's TV channel to your hearts content.
I was trying to remember which phone I had which had an IR blaster!! LG G3 - Thank you!!!
Marques bamboozled us 😭

He saying that because marques said on their podcast he won't be reviewing it.
9:30 woah the water type is something i never even thought to be possible. Making it useable in that state in impressive.
I got my OnePlus 12 Flowy Emerald with 512 GB storage here in Berlin, Germany, this past May. I've had it for a while now, and I absolutely love it. The fast charging is impressive, and the screen quality is fantastic. It’s an amazing upgrade from my previous Samsung Galaxy S21 FE (256 GB storage).
Glad you came around and finally did a review of the OnePlus 12. There was going to be a revolution if you didn't.
Thank you.
Hey Marques, thank you so much for listening to everyone’s feedback and reviewing the OP 12. This just one of the many reasons why you’re truly the GOAT UA-camr!
I bought the OP12. I was sceptical of buying it over Pixel 8 Pro because hardware performance and battery life is my priority. And I have to say that this is a banger phone. The performance, the battery, the camera, the display - there's nothing I could hate even if I tried. The camera does need a bit of work, but I found it better than than my sister's iPhone 15. The only thing I dislike is the curved display. I'm pleasantly surprised and in love with this phone.
Have only owned the OP11 for 6 months and pre-ordered the 12! They gave me +$400 for my 11! Can't wait!
Same 😊
With all the preorder incentives and trade in . It was a no brainer. @@adamrush8360

Almost got a Galaxy S24 Ultra but ultimately chose this phone instead. I feel like that aqua-touch is going to be life changing. Also hell yeah for high PWM, flickering has caused me SO MUCH eyestrain in the past years...
How do you enjoy the camera? Have you tried night shots?
@@chefnelsonsbbq I haven't really tried it yet! It's cold and raining here so I stay home all the time. Only got the phone a few days ago. The battery is phenomenal, I can tell you that. Charges in 20 minutes and lasts well over 24 hours.
@ShreetGupta wdym smsung is a bad company? That is such a bad answer to that comment, samsung makes almost everything, best budget phones and the best high end smartphones!
How is the display
@@gudlutripathy3283 it's great tbh I'm very satisfied. You can make it extremely dim or extremely bright. Never causes me eyestrain. HDR is good. Great display all around
On low light - I took side by side pictures with my OnePlus 12 and Pixel 8 (not pro) on the normal wide lens in very low light. The 12 took 1/12 the amount of time to take the picture, came out just as bright AND the Pixel was blurry. OnePlus retained more fine detail and honestly really shocked me. Dont sleep on this phone!! It's frigging incredible. Also, Pixel 8 feels SLOW going back to it (I gave it to my daughter) and fast charging is life changing. That is all ❤️
What about the little software featuress that Google has all over the phone, did u feel like you wouldn't need it? Like the magic eraser and other stuff
@@ankith1729i dont have a pixel or so but to be honest i dont think you need the ai stuff on your phone, more of a gimmick. But just opinion not because i have it on my phone.
@@nathanvrvrtI feel the same about those. I’m on iOS, but I have a Poco F1 with Pixel Experience and those features feel like a gimmick without any real life use. Samsung on the other hand presented some cool features, since the circle to search and summarise this page seem really useful.
I think danny pointed that as well on the older phones. It's a surprise that the Pixel 8 is still the same. The iPhone tends to be pretty fast for night-time shots and so is the Oneplus. Samsung's pretty fast as well, and the shutter speed of the S24U was said to be even faster than before.
@@ankith1729 I have a Zenfone 10, but I get Magic Eraser, Portrait Blur modes and other features like that in my Google Photos app because I have a Google One account. I used to love my OnePlus 7T Pro, but neither the Zenfone or the older OnePlus are anywhere near Pixel quality in terms of camera processing out of the box - that's what you will miss more than the tools themselves. My wife's Pixel 6 is consistently better and more accurate with shots.
What i really love about this phone is the signal strenght. The modem is so strong i have indoors at my Job finally super call quality. Also Aqua touch is awesome. Im in love with the OP12.
I have mine for a week now 16/512GB and it's insane.
Best screen i have seen so far even the edges don't change that. The battery is crazy 16hours screen on time is no problem. 26minutes from 0-100%
Connection is good even at places where i normally have bad signal.
Performance is typical for the snapdragon 8 gen3. Oxygen os 14 is also a big upgrade to oos13.
The camera is one of the best on the market. There is less after editing on the pictures so they seem less vibrant but very realistic. With pro mode it's perfect for nearly every shot.
Front cam is basic but it's good. Nothing special.
The speakers are nice and the rumbles are the best I've felt so far. Even better then iPhone haptic feedback.
That all and more for less then 800€ is a perfect deal.
PS: they already launched oppo ai on china version so maybe in the near future there will be ai on oxygenOS too.
OnePlus 12 equals Thirteen, took me a while but i figured it out.
OnePlus was never a One. Mind breaking
how is it 13?
@@Jolz0If you write it in terms of numbers, it say "1+12=13"
Woah mind blown 😂
Also the T phones like the OnePlus 7T; they stole the idea from Apple’s S phones like the iPhone 6s. OnePlus added a 1 to the S to make it a T 😂
underrated feature : the IR Blaster. I'm still keeping my Galaxy S5 only for that feature, as newer Samsung phones don't have that feature
I loved that phone.

Ive had my OnePlus 12 for just over a week now, i finally upgraded from my OnePlus 7 pro, which has been fantastic over the past 5 years but degraded battery life and a broken screen ment it was time to upgrade.
My first impressions are that this phone is fantastic in every aspect, performance, camera, battery life and charging speeds.
The last two are so good, here in the uk we get 100w charging and ive never had a phone charge so quick or battery last so long, 2 full days easy!
I also got a great deal getting a free pair of B&O headphones with it.
All i can say is i highly recommend anyone this phone, its great value for money.
Did u have colour OS or oxygen OS on it?
I'm about to upgrade from my OnePlus 7, I've had it 5 years and never needed a repair or new screen... but my battery life is bad and my keyboard is burnt in to my screen 🙃 so it's time. I almost jumped to iOS but I'm glad I waited because the 12 seems really good. Looking forward to it 🥳
@@rainbowcactus6774 The battery life was the thing that made me upgrade and I promise you this phone will blow your mind in comparison lol. Even performance wise you'll notice a big difference, trust me you'll be glad you didn't jump to iOS! Hope you enjoy your new phone :)
I was really unfortunate with my 7 when I got it when it launched in the UK, hardly any cases were available, took it out my pocket and it slipped and broke the glass, not the screen itself. Lived with it for 5 years like that lol.
@@rainbowcactus6774and how is the Oneplus 12??
The nostalgia! I remember having to get an invite to buy my OnePlus One, it was an extraordinary phone for the time. The last OnePlus phone I had was OnePlus 6, after which they lost me. It's nice to see them getting back up though :)
Yea i loved my oneplus 6 its just sucks how bad their cameras are! But i loved the software experience. if they make a flip oneplus with a flagship camera I would get it.
Aqua touch sold me. Every time when I got caught in the rain biking, my OnePlus 7T gone haywire. Been 4 years, phone still going strong.
@MarquesBrownlee @11:31 there is a slight editing error
Thanks for mentioning flicker and PWM.
Yes, American and Korean smartphone makers should be more concerned about flicker.
Really glad you made this video. Hope some other companies start to bring some of the features to their phones too!
IR blaster is crazy. I miss those days of being able to conveniently turn off my TV using my phone. Or turning off someone else's unexpectedly.

Enjoy!!!! You will really enjoy the increased cellular speeds if you are on anything a few years old or older.
@@MegaLokopo oneplus 8 pro currently
@@jakewallwork2280 I upgraded from the oneplus 9 which doesn't have ultra wide band antennas for verizons service, the oneplus 12 does, my speeds are atleast ten times faster than on the 9. Obviously cellular speeds depend on the city you are in, but if you are in a semi large or medium sized city like SLC where I am, verizon has covered most of the city with ultra wide band.
That framrate setting is pretty dope
@@alexandruilea915It does both actually. It has a frame generator chip for games to run at 120hz even if they were not designed to do it and it can force 120hz on standard apps
@@ahsan.v8 getting more fps than your refresh rate is still better than just 60fps, i.e. improved latency
@@leking007 maybe in PC but nah in mobile it makes it worse. You get the overheating for the game being processed at 90 fps but visibly the game looks worse than when just running it at 60 fps. Also the phone overheats so much when rendering the game at 90 fps that the processor actually throttles after 5 minutes of gaming and then I can barely get 30 fps. But that's just Oneplus 9 specific problem since it has Snapdragon 888 which is notorious for generating too much heat for too little work and the phone has a pretty bad cooling system. It's improved in newer models from what I'm seeing.
I enjoy OnePlus, I had one of their budget phones and it didn't disappoint...I can only imagine their flagship version.
I just bought this today...what a beast of a phone..this thing charges so damn fast and the battery past long as hell..can't beat this phone for the price
Im convinced Marques' looking up at the monitor behind the camera is an intentional stylistic choice
It is the easiest place to put notes you need to reference. Or a prompter.
Nice video to see! Didn't expect it as you said in the podcast you won't cover it..:D
Finally MKBHD addressing the PWM issue , cant thank you enough , i am pwm sensitive and stuck on iphone 11 for 4 years now , hoping that Apple does the same for fraction of the people , thats still a lot of people if you really see
I just checked the PWM dimming frequency of the iPhone 15 pro and Samsung S24 Ultra, they're better than before. The iPhone 15 plus and pro are 480hz, and the iPhone 14 plus and pro were 60 and 240hz. The S24 Ultra is also at 480hz.
The Oneplus 12 is the best at 2160hz, but its not the only option for eye sensitive people. Hopefully this helps!
@@yensteel unfortunately 480hz is also not enough for my eyes , i found out that my Samsung tv is 960hz and that doesn’t bother me , so am hopeful that one day apple would be at 960
@@navneeta3Sorry to hear that, it must have been pretty bothersome. Hopefully this is a new trend for smartphones and Apple would pick up on it.
I was gonna go to a Pixel for my next upgrade, but the fact that this has an IR blaster might have sold me. Messing with the TV's at bars is a good time.

Also i am ok with the curved screen
What is your experience with the curved screen? Cause I'm thinking of buying the OnePlus 12, but man I'm not sure if I'll like the curved display. It's the only thing that's holding me back. Apart from that, I'm in love with this phone

Man that intro. I just can't ever get enough. Last year's was great, but this is truly tippy-top tier.
I always liked OnePlus I had a OnePlus 3T and I absolutely loved it. Now I am still rocking an almost 5 year old OnePlus 7 pro and amazingly it still works great and the battery can still hold up which is really impressive. So I don't see a reason to change it but this new OnePlus looks tempting not gonna lie.
The no AI was actually a big sell for me
The fact that the EU prices are so much higher than the US makes this a no option. It's 969€ for the 12 and 749€ for the 12R, compared with Samsung and Google prices, the OnePlus is a no deal.
Lol in Sweden the OP12 is 1200 euro..
That just doesn't make sense why higher in both places... I don't understand. Is there some kind of higher tax on it?
I thought you are done with the phone with just the description in the podcast. Glad you decided to take a deep dive and make a review video.

Seems like Marques saw all the backlash he got when he said that he wasn't gonna review the OnePlus 12
Yup. 🤣🤣🤣
Disregard for Bhadiya
why did’nt he want to
When apple introduced, USB C and the Titanium () as their new features, everyone is so amazed and talking and doing everything, When OnePlus introduces game changing features like IR Blaster, High PWM frequency and that rain drop touch, no one really talking about that. What type of a world is this?
Because people like IPhones generally more.
I hope you're joking about IR blaster and "introducing game changing feature". Phone manufacturers have been putting them in phones for more than 10 years and basically every Xiaomi device has it.
Yeah but those are international phones, not the global versions, samsung used to have an ir blaster but removed it for an unknown reason.@DINO92AVFC
Corporate sponsorship, "hype my stuff or be black listed"
Something called marketing. You'd be surprised at how many people use ads to make their purchasing decisions... OnePlus doesn't do any advertising so basically no one outside of techies knows about them
5 years update is good for me, I upgrade phone every 5 years anyway. I'm sure most upgrade every two years when their contracts end.
I'm so happy that you released this review the day I got my OnePlus 12. I haven't even used mine for 24 hours and I already love it.
