I’m a pedicabber in Austin, TX. I’m a gringo. I had a Mexican couple take a tour and they wanted to hear Grupo Firme and some other Mexican music. I never listened to that type of music. As I was giving a ride people who heard the music kept making funny noises and it was good vibe. I started listening to the music more and more after that ride. A few months later I heard Tragos Amargos by Ramon Ayala and that was the jam I listened to a lot along with a bunch more songs I know now. Junior H, Fuerza Regida, Codigi FN, El Fantasma are a few I listen to. The Mexican folks can’t believe the gringo is jamming this music, But I play it because I like it and it’s good energy. I had a lady say she should have me DJ her wedding! I’ve had a lot of fun giving people rides and jamming this music. I’ve had whole groups singing songs in front of Mala Vida and Cielo here in Austin, Texas. Just a few weeks ago I was randomly looking for new music and I found Alma Enamorada and I really liked the song. So I’ve been playing it a lot lately. Tonight I was listening to more of Chalino’s songs. Then I decided to read about his life and wow. I watched the video of him getting the note and he was playing the song I first listened to of his. And what a beautiful song it is, I had to translate it to English, most of the songs I sing I don’t know what they mean! Expect for Ya Superame and Tragos Amargos. It seems as though this guy is the King of this music. And I just learned all this tonight and I’m blown away. Life is a trip. Music brings us together and doesn’t see skin color or Nationality. I’m grateful to that couple I gave a ride to who wanted to hear Grupo Firme otherwise I never would have found so much more great music and this sad but amazing story. RIP Chalino Sanchez.

Did you know one of his sons followed his path in music, and at his peak talked about getting at those who killed his father, and in a tour IN MEXICO he was dealt a similar faith to that of his father. The echos in life are very real.

there's a man who on account of many witnesses, tells the story of chalino's demise. the note allegedly wasn't a death note. the note read something along the lines of "see? i told you i could get u wherever i wanted u to." the show he was preforming at was put together by the man who sent him the note, emilio quintero. quintero was referring to when he told chalino he could get him anywhere. pretty much displaying the power he had and that he wasn't somebody to be messed with. quintero was a big shot narco at the time. allegedly , chalino slept with this man's wife. after the show, chalino and his crew were stopped by local police. they took chalino with them ordered by quintero. the plan was to scare chalino and talk to him then drop him off. they were never supposed to kill him. chalino ended up having words with one of the sicarios. this led to them pulling over and the sicario who was having a words with chalino shot him in the back of the head. this is supposedly the most credible version. is it true? who knows. i just thought it'd be neat to share. viva mexico y el rey del corrido!!!
