And nowadays people have warmed up to Infinite Warfare. I think it was just bad timing and bad marketing that brought that game down. Had they switched back and forth between different eras instead of 3 future games in a row, I think people would've appreciated it more back then.
I bought this game 2 years ago when I was 12, best £2.50 I ever spent. Still play it today and it's still in perfect condition. Call of Duty 2 is better then a lot of the other Call of Dutys and it will be buried with me the day I die. :')
Hey, BG666, I am in the mission where I have to shoot down 4 German planes with a captured aa gun. I'm getting killed every time. Any hints as to how to get by this mission?
Ron Papworth I'm feeling to play COD 2 campaign now. That's the beauty of this game, you come back to it even knowing you completed it already, you know how to complete it but there's always a challenge hiding in there. I like the 2 tank missions, they were cool. Except you were up against Panzer 2's and Cruisers stock gun can go through the front armour of a Panzer 2 like a hot knife through butter. But that's not possible in COD 2.
I dont get why people buy at steam in the first place, one of the most expensive places you can buy your games at. It should cost less to buy a digital copy not more.
There was just something so rewarding about running in and unloading a full mag of a Thompson or MP40 into a squad of Germans. You don't find that anymore. Now it's all about how many times you can spin around to land a gunshot that would NEVER hit anything in a million years!
My favorite COD as well. This game sold me an Xbox 360 when it first came out. This was playing on a demo at gamestop and I was blown away by the graphics and gameplay. Played through this one a couple of times and will again. Great campaign and am still impressed by the smoke grenades all these years later.
Ron Isahdkl You know, CoD paints the russians worse than the axis (this game is actually pretty neutral toward both US and the axis). You just get a chance to play as the russians.
Ell612 I'm gonna give you several reasons why an Axis side game would be interesting: 1. It's a game, A GAME! 2. Different perspective ("your" land will be in ruins at the end of the campaign, you in a Soviet Gulag) 3. Overwhelming enemy numbers 4. D-Day in reverse (we have stormed it too many times from 2000 onward) 5. Insight into average life in a dictatorship Of course if you are a racist bigot you can keep on saying that Germans should only be seen as monsters and killed by the billion.
I play this classic game on xbox 360.. but there is never anyone on the mulitplayer game.. sucks cuz this game was what started all the COD addiction. Still playin :)
@Olekrok i have only mw2 original disk as my freind gave it 2 me and world at war i downloaded for xbox 360 from torrent site and wen i finished the WaW i only had one zombie map which you get after finishing the game(in the house) and i can only get other map from ms point and now i dont have xbox live and i never had mspoints.by the way in which round did you reach in that house?
All these years, I never bought an xbox or 360. Now, in 2022, i get a 360 and TONS of games. Kind of glad I get to experience all the CoDs, all the Halo series and all the GoW games for the first time.
CoD2 is the best game ever made. This guy looks to be playing Singleplayer on easy, multiplayer is where it's at. Nothing trumps CoD2, and nothing ever will because it's unique in it's own way. It is the perfect game.
This game has some of the best Call of Duty moments out of the entire series. The Battle of Pointe du Hoc has got to be one of my favorite levels of any video game I've ever played!
Personally, I think Call of Duty World at War is my favorite COD game. It has that old, World War 2 feeling that these orginal COD's had, but it also had a new feeling to it. I think World at War is the best cause it feels like Call of Duty classic with updated graphics and better online system, but I respect these old COD's cause they started up an amazing series. Black Ops is also pretty good.
Right! when you were just a plain old corporal, and you and your seargent, and fellow pvts. were just trying to survive this massive battle. D-Day and Hill 400 in the American campaign were probably my favorite moments in shooter history. I really wish cod could recreate another great world war 2 game, but alas :( one can dream right?
Call of Duty 2 was the first shooter I played Call of Duty 2 was the first online game I played Call of Duty 2 was the first xbox360 game I played and was also the game I saw in HD It is now 2011 and it is still my favorite Call of Duty game and is also my favorite shooter ever. Some things never get old
I'd love a WW1 COD. It doesn't have to be just trench warfare, either. You have aerial battles, submarine combat, sappers tunnelling under enemy lines, mustard gas attacks, 'Lost Battalion' style forest battles, the Eastern campaign, the Gallipoli beach landing, etc, etc. A great developer can make any setting interesting. i'd buy a WW1 game if it was well done.
I used to love this game when it first came out. The guns actually sounded like they were shooting unlike this black ops crap where the guns sound like plastic toys. COD should really stick to what made them popular, and keep it simple. Battlefield keeps it simple, they have the same good game going for 10 years.
@MasterOfRiffs : Big red one is composed entirely of American missions. The Xbox 360 American missions take place in the Summer and winter of 44, while Big Red one's missions begin in North Africa and end in winter '45. Essentially, they're two different games, with CoD 2 BIg Red One's control scheme is more akin to the original's (the ability to lean sideways, health packs, etc)
I have COD 3, COD 4, WaW, MW2, and Black Ops (and COD Finest Hour on PS2 as well!), so I'm a fairly big COD nutcase! I have played COD 1 and 2, though, and gotta say, they are both excellent games!
have to agree. I'm playing COD 2 on VB360 and COD WW2 on PS4 Pro at the same time (ok, alternating) so while PS4 pro rocks the graphics gameplay feels very much constrained, channeled and more like just a mad thrash. COD 2 feels far more open, tactical and fluid.
The campaign in this game was AWESOME. Back went he campaigns were lengthy and about soldiers on the battlefield, not about soldiers BEING the battlefield as the new games seem to be about
I actually really like the graphics. The atmosphere is thick, the fog only adding to it. It's like Silent Hill and Morrowind where the aging process actually refines the experience, especially once you see it all in motion.
that actually helps a lot man. I like the mp40 too, just not so much the slow rate of fire and reload speed. gotta say though, the lee enfield is my favorite rifle in the game
@treverpatey I disagree but everyone has their preference. The graphics on pc are top notch. Plus pc allows you to use not only mouse+keyboard, but a custom num pad or controller (xbox 360 included). Computer gaming has better graphics, better customization of controls, yet it costs more and is more complicated to set up and maintain than a console.
Call of Duty 2 was fucking brilliant! Man it's my favourite CoD too! It's just so hectic and really cinematic in a good way! It's true what Insecur says, the new ones are like 3 guys killing an entire army. In this one and the 3rd, you'd move forward, kill a couple of enemies, knowing there was still a war going on behind you, felt much more realistic and cool!
hell yeah. this one ties cod 4 for my favorite. ahh, back when cod was good. damn i miss those days. played the hell outta this one and recently installed it into my shitty old laptop and playing it again. It's incredible how much atmosphere the 2 older WWII can transpire even on limited graphical processing power. COD 2 is basically a copy of the 1st that said I can't recall any real benefit in the 2nd. I still prefer the 1st game and the expansion over the rest. COD one has no regen health but it works out great even if it can be so tough from the very first moment of the 1st mission that you'll have to put it down for a while,
One of my friends said that Infinity Ward is not going to make any more Call of Duty games. I just hope Black Ops will own every other Call of Duty single player.
i like how he said that he would like to see a sci-fi call of duty and now we have one but no one wants it
He never said that
And nowadays people have warmed up to Infinite Warfare. I think it was just bad timing and bad marketing that brought that game down. Had they switched back and forth between different eras instead of 3 future games in a row, I think people would've appreciated it more back then.

I remember walking to gamestop multiple times just to play this demo when the 360 was first coming out! one of the best fps campaigns ever!!!
The classic reviews need to make a comeback

Hey, BG666, I am in the mission where I have to shoot down 4 German planes with a captured aa gun. I'm getting killed every time. Any hints as to how to get by this mission?
Hmmmmm....
Well, take out the lead planes and if sensitivity is too low or high, adjust it a little.
Thanks for your response, that is what I finally did.
Ron Papworth I'm feeling to play COD 2 campaign now. That's the beauty of this game, you come back to it even knowing you completed it already, you know how to complete it but there's always a challenge hiding in there.

i got the game its fun to play missions
imo the best CoD ever, though the first one was very enjoyable aswell
$20 on Steam for an 8 year old game. Bravo Activision! Way to keep your profits up, you greedy bastards!
IKR, friggin BS, lowering the price would actually get MORE sales!
I dont get why people buy at steam in the first place, one of the most expensive places you can buy your games at. It should cost less to buy a digital copy not more.
Steam has a lot of sales, so overall, it is cheaper. And Steam has games that are really hard to find otherwise or are exclusive to steam.
4 months later for replying to you, and yes even on Xbox marketplace it's 20$! Even the first cod is 20
ketchup
Lol what?
There was just something so rewarding about running in and unloading a full mag of a Thompson or MP40 into a squad of Germans. You don't find that anymore. Now it's all about how many times you can spin around to land a gunshot that would NEVER hit anything in a million years!
Yup, v true

has a budget like 20x lower than IGN and is still the best review show on the internet.
The earlier games were the only ones to not be pro-war and make war look like it really is.
I feel like the beginning d-day scene shows this well by throwing you strait into what it would have been like on the beach In d-day
I like the the old Call of Duty games, but I think they should make a campaign for the Axis side so we wont always see them as monsters.
Won't always see them as monsters? You do know of some of the evil and twisted things they did right?
The Average Reviewer go read a david irving book

If this were to come out on PS3 as a digital release or disc only release, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
"I wish them to put this exact gameplay into a massive science fiction epic" - Oh, boy, that's exactly what they did.

3:40 "massive science fiction epic" infinite warfare
In my opinion this games graphics are actually great but I know many people will disagree
They were probably great for 2005.
Good graphics mixed with bad animation.
anything behind Black ops is amazing.

@UncleRecolour what about Novalogic's Delta Force? or Day of Defeat? People still playing those?
This gem is now backwards compatible
100 % agreed on everything you said about cod2´s gameplay. one of my favourite games of all time!!!
Anyone wanna play multiplayer on Xbox 360? I'm up for playing the stuff and barely anyone is on it aha. Comment your gamertags and il add. Thanks :)
Boggy Videos2 ill play with you. my gamertag is hughjasole.

Best CoD game.
Paulo Lameiras original's better. Not the xbox, but the PC
+Iz Happy nah mate. This one is better by far and can play on most modern systems, you need workarounds for Cod1 and uo
Paulo Lameiras hi
This game is so nostalgic to me on the Xbox 360, and it still holds up to this day.
Should i buy this for my Xbox 360? Only other Call of Duty i have played was World at War. And does it have split - screen?
This is still one of my all time favorite games!
@TaimoorAUG whats the difference between this version and the big red one version?
Still my favorite COD. What a campaign!!!!
CoD2 is the best game ever made. This guy looks to be playing Singleplayer on easy, multiplayer is where it's at. Nothing trumps CoD2, and nothing ever will because it's unique in it's own way. It is the perfect game.
I loved this game, especially the online multiplayer and the fact that the sniper was a one shot kill no matter where you shot them on their body.
This is such a great game..for me it holds more value to me then any of the newer games for many reasons
picked it up for $13 last sunday and LOVING it!!!! thx 4 this review
@TheMightySinnerHD are the graphics better on pc version and wont i need a joystick with trigger to play on pc?
Just found my old copy of this game, man the memories playing this.
lol what i loved most about the older call of duty's is the sound effects enemies made after they died
I really enjoy all your reviews u really convince me to get games
One of the best CODS around, this is the reason why I bought the X Box 360 !.
@mod3rnwarfare1 I wonder if we could use this game to help predict upcoming battles.
Whats the 2:48 mission? I dont remember it being in PC version
Is this game longer or shorter than mw2 or 3??? I would like to buy it ;)
Plz reply!
this has multiplayer mode right? not just the campaign?
@TheMightySinnerHD are people playing it on xbox live?
@991saleem and do you play zombie mode on world at war ? if you do what is your favourite ?? because i'm going to buy a map pack
Being a regular guy is what made the CoD 4 and MW2 so damn realistic. In MW3 I felt like a Spartan than an average joe.
Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4 & Call of Duty MW2 all have first class production. Terrific games.

ive just found out this COD2 and COD2 big red one, are two different games...what isd the difference or is just a name change for ps2 etc?
I miss this game , it got it on launch day.
How long is the campaign in this??
does cod2 on the marketplace have multiplayer?
How did you get it running at 60fps on Xbox 360?? It's so smooth! Am I missing something?
