“For so long I wanted to be different…and now I realize, I just need to be myself” 👏🏽GO ‘HEAD DA’VINE
Beautiful 😭❤️🙏🏾
❤❤❤❤
Jodie Foster definitely felt that!
She just needs Ozempic*
@@autumn975 who is she? I love anything Danielle Brooks in it. Peace!!!!
People are so hateful. 1. She's beautiful. 2. Shes very talented. 3. She was asked for by name to audition. 4. She has an Masters degree in Fine Arts from Yale.
People are full of hate ,because her beauty shines from inside out * she's extremely talented & deserved her win.
1. Nope. She's the complete opposite of beauty in literally every way imaginable, and I think 99.9% of men would agree with me.
2. Maybe. Never seen her act before, probably never will. Her acting is not why she won though. They had to give you at least 25% of the acting awards or we'd have to hear you bitching about "Oscars so white" for the entire year. We'll probably hear it anyway.
3. And? Sounds like she had the PRIVILEGE of already being picked for the role before she even auditioned.
4. Who cares. Lots of people have lots of degrees in lots of things. Most of us don't need to be celebrated for simply graduating from school.
@@JakeKoenigYou’ve made like 5 comments on this video alone down talking this woman. Get a job and a life. She won and no amount of crying in the comments is gonna change that.
@@JakeKoenigI like to see you say it to my face and see what happens

Paul Giamatti is such a gentleman, escorting her to the stage and taking her up.
And tearing up!!
He's a powerhouse and a gentleman for sure.
She ain't have a black partner as her date?
And she didn’t even thank or acknowledge him. No surprise
shut up tyson
Fun fact: both Lupita and Da'Vine graduated from Yale School of Drama.
I wondered about that because I knew Lupita was a Yale Drama graduate, and they both wore ice blue colored dresses.
I thought Da'Vine went to Temple?
Yale was so lucky to have them both ❤❤
So did Paul Giamatti!
@@brotherofjunk, for undergrad.
Yale for grad.
Paul’s tear 🥹
A single man tear 🥹 if you know you know
The real star of the night! lol!
Paul should reprise his role as John Adams again.
Ohhhh that tear broke me all the way down 😭
PG is 1-of-1.. it's a shame he didn't win as well. Give the man a damn Oscar already!!
This was a lovely speech! Her performance in The Holdovers was brilliant. I love this concept of bringing past winners to present. It was very moving and compelling.
I do too. It made everyone in the category feel special!
This is a very nice way to introduce the nominees! Lovely.
Yes. I hope they continue this
Agree
Me too that was cool
The Oscar's should use this presentation idea forever more. Its brilliant. And each nominee gets honored in an immortal way.
I agree this is a great format
Agreed. One of the best changes they incorporated in many years.
I agree.
@@ColetteO_ most people haven't seen 90% of nominated films, so the majority really doesnt have a lot invested in who wins or loses. But everyone watching wants to see a movie star. There's always that "what has so and so been up to lately?" Plus, it's just a brilliant idea. You honor both the past and the present at the same time. Thanks for your comment.
Seriously!!! I came for the speech, but that was the best award presentation I've ever seen by like 700%. Do I need to start actually watching the oscars again? I'm so confused and intrigued :D
Rita Moreno At 92. Stunning!
93 going on 60, beautiful body and mind.❤❤❤❤
She should present every year.
She looks fabulous!!!
WHAT???? Bro how tf is she 92 looking that great? 😭😭😭
INDEED!
They NEED to keep this format, bringing back former winners to speak of nominees, especially winners that know the nominees personally. This is so heartfelt because regardless of who wins, they all get the flowers they deserve. It’s powerful and makes me as a viewer want to make sure I see all the films they were in.
They should definitely do this in future ceremonies. I loved seeing them do the same thing 15 years ago. ❤ Although if it was EVERY ceremony, then they’ll run out of winners quick and will have repeats. Maybe every 5 years?
Yea!!!
Yes! This gave me chills. I wonder if they wrote it themselves. It was so personal and heartfelt.
For this category it wouldn't suprise me if the actresses did indeed wright the speeches themselves but for the other ones definitely not especially Jlaw 🤣@@panthera2013
She is so unbelievably likable
Literally no other way to put it!!!
@@marcusbailey4545 Danielle Brooks is better
@@jerriotglencamp7562they both are amazing..
@@tourissajoseph1378 I prefer Danielle Brooks.
I cried when Lupita revealed, Da,Vine wore her grandmother’s eyeglasses in the movie! 😢
I worked on the show High Fidelity with her. She was always so sweet and polite. She dived into her role in that and I hoped to see her explode and she did.
Congrats DaVine!
She was SO GOOD in High Fidelity!!
I loved that show so much! First thing I saw her in. That show was cancelled WAY too soon. She's amazing.
literally loved that show so much 😭
Amazing in that series! I had a feeling back then she was destined for even more!
The way Paul Giamatti stans for and loves her really gets me right in the feels. So sweet 🥹 Shine on sweet woman✨️
Da Vine and Paul were awesome in this movie! I had to rewatch it over again. She had a great speech and deserved to win!
Such a powerful speech. Paul Giamatti is a class act supporting his friend and colleague. So happy for Da'Vine Joy Randolph.
I JUST LOVE DaVine!!!! She NAILED the part as Mary Lamb and she DESERVED THE WIN!!!!! It was so sweet how Paul Giamatti escorted her to the stage AND the other girls applauded her win as well. She was, is, and Willie remembered AND her star is shining, you go, girl, and CONGRATULATIONS, Ms. DaVine!!!!!❤
👍 💯 ❤️ 👍
Well deserved.
These OG Oscar winners delivering these powerful tributes is such an amazing and poignant touch. Loved this so much.
❤❤❤❤❤
Each presenter was such a vibe....
Jamie Lee Curtis = Proud Bestie
Mary Steenburgen = Proud Teacher
Lupita Nyongo = Proud Classmate
Rita Moreno = Proud Auntie
Regina King = Proud Mama
To be honest, I would have been happy with any one of these women winning. They’re all incredible actresses and they all gave amazing performances.
Exept América Ferrara 👎🏻
This is true, all great performances ❤❤❤❤❤
@@RR-uq1fuexcept her bad performance
It was a weak category this year.
Yeah, this year was so special. I felt that way in pretty much all the categories.
Da'Vine Joy Randolph had me in tears in that kitchen scene. Side note, every time I see Regina King I just see Brenda on 227.
🎶 There’s no place like home!!!! 🎶
I sobbed when she was putting her baby clothes into her sisters dresser. Such a beautiful performance
I actually didn't remember her specifically from that show even though I used to watch it. I've only remembered her from the big screen for some reason.
Now THAT was an acceptance speech! Gratitude, grace and love. Just beautiful. Congratulations to Da'Vine Joy Randolph on her win tonight.
I think she got caught up in the moment and totally forgot to thank her brilliant co-stars and Director in the movie. That’s why sometimes it’s better to write something down.
@@chxtman absolutely agreed. They tell them before the show that it’s better if they don’t read their acceptance speeches. I’m sure she wanted to thank them and it just slipped her mind. I’m sure they understood.
@@juismac She has "this" much time to make an acceptance speech and she said the things which were a priority to her. I enjoyed it.
I totally teared up when she said she wanted to be different and realized that she just needed to be herself. ❤ There are a lot of people out there who don't realize how important self-love is to their overall well-being. I'm glad she figured it out.
Listen to yourself. Diversity award.
a little exercise is important, too.
A better form of self-love is maintaining a healthy BMI so you don't die before you turn 50. "Being herself" is going to end in a fatal heart attack or stroke several decades before the average human life span.
@@JakeKoenig Many people are assuming this is weight related. Wishing to be different can mean a lot of things. If she were thin and said the same exact things then what...?
Paul Giamatti tearing up during her speech!! ❤️❤️
SHE PRAISED HIM IN EVERY INTERVIEW THAT SHE DID ABOUT THIS MOVIE
I think he was sweating from carrying her chocolate butt up the stairs XD

Wow! I love how they took time to pay beyond deserving tribute to each and every nominee! What a beautiful soul Da'Vine is!
They did this for all the best actors nominees. I think they should do that from now on.
They are all oscar worthy, it's an honor to be nominated
Thoses speeches from the ladies got me and then DaVine spoke and now im crying!❤❤❤
Poooosy
So happy for Da’Vine! Also THE Rita Moreno talking about America Ferrera was the best thing!
Yeah, even though America Ferrera didn’t deserved being nominated
As a veteran (relatively young) I have written notes and cards to the families of my friends who have passed. Her character surprised me when I saw this film but her role was the whole movie for me. She was incredible, herself was more than enough. Beautiful woman and a beautifully written character.
Paul being such a gentleman and escorting Da'Vine to the microphone! Love this! Congratulations Da'Vine!
I thought she couldn't walk the stairs on her own
The stairs did bend tho XD
Have always heard he's a real nice guy 🙂
My personal pick was Danielle Brookes, but I couldn't be happier about this.
I just watched The Holdovers for the first time last night, and Da'Vine deserved this award 100%!! So happy for her!
Same
OMG! I love the way this was presented! Tremendously loving and warm. Every nominee was truly honored. Congratulations also to Da'Vine Joy Randolph.
Miss Da'Vine was the heart of The Holdovers. I'm so glad the Academy awarded her the Oscar. So well deserved! 💙🫶🏽
I agree! I don't remember seeing her in Office Christmas Party. I have to watch that again.
I skipped the Oscar’s and decided to watch The Holdovers! I just knew Da’Vine would win. Hers and Paul’s performances were so amazingly beautiful. What a beautiful film, and what acting❤
One of the most heartfelt genuine speeches at the Oscars you’ll ever hear, congratulations Da'Vine Joy Randolph you definitely deserve it. She did an awesome performance in the holdovers. Such a good movie I had to see it twice! Many blessings on the rest of your career.
That may have been one of the best Oscar speeches I've heard. Short but powerful...sweet but beautiful.
I am not an awards show fan, but I am so impressed with the way these award introductions were handled. Really impressive! Personal, honest and heart-warming comments from one actor/friend to another is perfect! Honeslty, I didn't think Da'Vine Joy Randolph was on screen enough to win...but her introduction reminded me of what an amazing job she did with her role. She was so relatable and had a huge impact on the really good movie, The Holdovers, in a subtle way -- which is a sign of really good acting! Congrats to her, the entire cast/crew of The Holdovers and the Academy!
It’s a Supporting role so you can literally be on the screen for as short as five minutes to win this award. I think the record is 5 mins 40s. Da’Vine was on screen for 25 and a half minutes. Agreed I thought it was a beautiful film ( Paul G and the newcomer Sessa were also very good) that I like more and more whoever I watch it.
You do know what a Supporting Performance is, right???? It doesn't matter how long you were on screen, it's still a Supporting Performance
Remember when Sir Anthony Hopkins won for best actor in Silence of the Lambs? His total screen time was about 30 mins...
Lupita looks absolutely stunning. Her stylist needs a raise because he or she never fails ❤Seeing Davine tear up was so beautiful. You can tell this moment meant so much to her 😢
Girl made ME cry! Congratulations, Da'Vine, we see you there!
Even from just seeing these clips, I feel that this might be the absolute BEST Oscar broadcast in years! I regret I did not watch the entire show!
They had no better choice after what happened last year. You didn't miss anything special
It really was! It didn’t even feel like 3 hours
@@SimbaRobynThe earlier time slot I think helped a LOT. But I absolutely agree that this ceremony was among the best-produced. It wasn’t flashy, but it was efficient while still giving the winners enough time for their moment. ❤️ They even brought back things from previous ceremonies I loved (the way the acting nominees were shown like in 2009, or having the sound nominees not being read aloud like in 2016). Well done producers!!
Ms. Randolph gave a marvelous performance in the Holdovers. My wife and I saw in the Theater back in November of 2023. It was very enjoyable.
What an authentic, humbking speech from a woman who you can truly tell has broke so many barriers to get to this point. I am so thankful that she can inspire any of us who do not feel like we are "seen". ❤
She really deserves it. Giamatti, Sessi, and her all came together in that perfect film that now has entered my top three films of all time. Without her that wouldn’t be true because her performance was incredible. Glad at least SOMEBODY from that movie was given the Oscar that literally every one of them deserved.
The presentation of this award is so beautiful!! 😢❤ Congratulations Da' Vine Joy! A phenomenal performance
She is a wonderful actress and person ever. She incredibly deserved it. Congratulations, Da’vine. ❤
I love her in The Lost City and Only Murders in the Building! Such a sweet and down-to-earth person!
I was just telling my friends this past weekend how much I loved DaVine’s performance. The Holdovers is a movie I will watch every Christmas from now on.
This has got to be the most heartfelt thank you - haven't seen all the others yet but I am so terrifically moved by her here!
I haven’t seen The Holdovers, and I wasn’t familiar with Da’Vine before this video, but I will certainly be watching it now.
To thank God before anyone else is so admirable, especially when no one else is doing it. All good things come from Him, and voices like Da’Vine’s can help people to see that.
Congratulations on your win!!
I WATCHED THE MOVIE LAST WEEK.......SHE DID GOOD WITH HER EMOTIONS IN THIS MOVIE
It's a surprisingly beautiful and very moving film. Really touching.
Amen!!
Cuz God isn't real. Also if you're going to say God gave it to you and this is all because of God you don't deserve it cuz you didn't get from your own talent. Also I disliked your comment
On my 42nd birthday in June of 2012
I went and saw Ghost the musical on Broadway. Da'Vine played Odamae (Whoopie Goldbergs role) in the Movie. She was fantastic. Little did I know I was watching an Oscar winner in the making.🙂 Congratulations
Ms. Da'Vine
Just finished The Holdovers and she 1000% deserved that Oscar, her speech brought me to tears!

Congratulations on your win! So proud of Da'Vine Joy Randolph. Her speech was so real and heartfelt.
Ahhhh this made me cry. This whole presentation of the awards celebrating all the amazing actresses and Da'Vine's win was amazing!!!
Da'Vine Joy Randolph was the soul of the Holdovers, flawlessly embodying a grieving mother, which ultimately resulted in an Academy Award winning masterclass performance.
I love this set-up giving each performance their flowers before announcing the winner. ❤️
I hope I’m not the only one to notice this, but Lupita’s dress gave me deja vu from the beautiful dress she wore when she got her first Oscar: similar shape, similar sleeves, similar almost identical shade of blue. It’s so fitting since she was part of the big five presenters this year and she won her Oscar precisely 10 years ago. Light blue is definitely her color
This speech brought me to tears!! This is well deserved for a phenomenal actress! There was something so nostalgic about this movie that resonated with me. Da'vine Joy Randolph, Congratulations.❤❤❤
From Dolomite is My Name to Puss in Boots The Last Wish to The Holdovers. I cannot wait to see the rest of her career!
I had no idea she was Mama Luna!! Outside of The Holdovers, I mainly know her as the cop from Only Murders in the Building. She’s wonderful! ❤
The Holdovers was amazing, and she absolutely held her OWN in that movie. I absolutely loved her, she reminded me.of my.misoc teacher, Mrs. Fowler. I love that she won!!!! Sosososo much!
The most genuine speech of the evening. So happy for Da’Vine.
Da'Vine was brilliant in this role. Really the best part of the film for me. I hope she has an illustrious career.
having the previous winners speak directly to the nominees and be there to welcome them into this wonderful group of women is such a beautiful thing. i have not seen the holdovers yet but i will definitely watch it soon! i'm so behind on movies from last year.
So glad Da'Vine won! Her role was so heartbreaking you could feel her pain!!
God bless you Da'Vine! Such a humble and talented lady. Yes, I hope we will be seeing you again on the Oscar stage.
Her speech had me tearing up, I'm so proud of Da'Vine!!!
So well deserved !!!
How?
As I watched her performance in the holdovers I thought “I hope she wins an Oscar for this” before she was ever nominated. She deserved this.
Coming back just for the graceful and sincere introduction by Lupita. Beautiful
I like the set up this year having past winners announce the nominees it’s a good look
The way Da'Vine made me cry this early in the morning! Her gratefulness to God is so rare these days. She now has a fan in me always

so deserved!! i love her and paul's friendship, and i loved them in this movie ❤❤❤
I'm so happy they brought back this concept of having former winners present the award. The last time they did this, I think it was 2009.
And as for Da'Vine, she totally deserved it. A huge congratulations to her and a big shoutout to the other nominees, who were just as worthy of the win.
Thank you! She finally did her thanks without reading from a paper and oh it sounded so profound. ❤
Are we not going to talk about how much of a chad Paul Giamatti is for helping her up?
Her performance in The Holdovers was absolutely amazing. Her win is 100% deserved.
Da’Vine’s speech was so touching and beautiful. She truly deserved the win!
I don't know I sat and watched the Oscars for over three hours this year when I said I wouldn't watch and seen this young Afro American princess miss DaVine Joy win her first Oscar literally brought me to tears 😭
I’m so happy for her. She makes everything she is in better by bringing a very deep and palpable undercurrent of humanity to her roles. She deserves to be recognized and celebrated for her work, and I’m so glad her peers (and everyone else ) agree. I also loved the new presentation format. This year every category was packed with nominees who might have easily won in any other year, and I loved how the new format allowed all the nominees to be honored.
She’s always Cherish for me. The best friend everyone wants❤
Got me tearing up, what a humble speech and a great performance in Holdovers. Hope she has a new exciting role on screen soon.

Da'vine joy randolph was the best of all The holdovers, a simple character like a school cook can be empathized with, although that was the magic of The holdovers.
So happy she won. She was great in the Holdovers.
She is so beautiful, both inside and out. And a perfect speech.
God is so good!!!😇You are so good!❤ You are more than enough! Congratulations!!! You deserve this!
Her gratitude, sincerity, and deep divine spirit bring me so much joy. Da'Vine Joy is an absolute treasure, and I hope this Oscar is the first of many accolades for her.
She gave the most relevant speech of the night: "....I realized I just need to be myself...."
No doubt Divine has faced obstacles along the way, but with the help of a selected few, she has forged her own path, a path most likely made all the more difficult bc of her race, gender and weight.
A lesson to be remembered for all of us
Let's be honest, she is not getting nominated ever again. This is the height of her career.
who the fuck are you to say something like that? if you can't be kind, don't say anything at all.
Are you jealous of Da'Vine's career for you to say something like that?
What a beautiful spirit this woman has she glows from the inside out. Her speech penetrated my heart and brought tears to my eyes.
Da'Vine so deserves it 👏🏻🤗 Congratulations D!! ❤️ 🤗🏆
She was so amazing in The Holdovers. When I was on my way to see it a second time, all I was talking about was her performance.
Rita Moreno, wow she looks incredible!
The Holdovers was the biggest highlight of the career of Da'Vine Joy Randolph so far especially in 2023.
Looks like this was a great show, actually giving the nominees a real moment, and allowing more participation from past winners. Very nice.
Whoever came up with this concept of having each nominee acknowledged in depth by a previous winner: Brilliant idea! It is so moving to see the communal support for each other! Very heart-warming.
The holdovers was such a great movie ….Da'Vine was excellent in it !
