I remember how so many people hated his casting for ken and now here he is.
He was Kenough
😂😂😂 more than kenough
He's got real Kenenergy
You know what I totally forgot about that furor around him being too old for the role and what terrible casting it was. I must have missed the bit where all those loud critics admitted they were wrong. HA!
My only issue with it was they made him go platinum, like WHY? HIS NATURAL COLOR IS LITERALLY KENS HAIR??
Really From the moment I heard of it, I thought PERFECT CASTING! Never had any doubt he'd do great he ended up taking it to a whole new level! Much more than KENOUGH! 😂
The way that Ryan Gosling grabbed the Camerman's Hand, kissed it, and led him onto the stage was just absolute magic.
like thank u for the pov of my husband leading me on stage
absolute cinema!!
Camera man’s never washing that hand again
That was us. That was our hand, Ken. Ken led US onstage, and brought us into the moment. Hi, Ken!
My new Roman empire
Can we talk about the fact that they brought the original main dancing characters to the choreo?
You know they put effort into this when they brought the entire cast, Kens and Slash and Van Halen included, to perform
It was great - all four of the main supporting Kens from the movie came out on stage as a chorus line behind Ryan:
- *Ncuti Gatwa* (star of the BBC television series Doctor Who),
- *Simu Liu* (star of the Marvel Universe action-hero film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings),
- *Kingsley Ben-Adir* (star of the 2024 film Bob Marley: One Love; also known for UK stage work and TV shows like Vera), and
- *Scott Evans* (from US TV shows like One Life to Live and Grace and Frankie).
Also, the song’s two composers - *Mark Ronson* on guitar and *Andrew Wyatt* at the piano - were there at the beginning.
And *Wolfgang Van Halen* and *Slash* - who had done instrumentals for the film’s soundtrack, were there at the very end.
I think that just goes to show how much fun they had making this movie and playing these characters that they all came back for it (i know i would)
It’s so wholesome
This number is more like the Ken’s one last ride before they go separate ways.
Honestly seeing all these men dancing onstage and having the time of their lives is very wholesome. We need more happy, dancing men in the world.
War dances are also a thing....
You can see it any night on Broadway chief.
@@daveg9000Fairly certain this particular comment is referencing more obvious mainstream media culture.
Of course there are men dancing all over the place - and have been since forever.
HOWEVER, there is a whole faction of his acting this isn't/ can't be/ shouldn't be true.
Let's not play pretend here.
@@afankhan4666
Dance is for everything.
Plenty warriors are ecstatic to go to war.
Happiness does not discriminate.
❤😅
I love how Ryan Gosling just embraced his Kenergy and literally became the character.
Same with Simu Liu he absolutely killed it as Ken 2
He is literally me
😭I know!💖
Usually people just see Ken as some boring doll, I absolutely love that Ryan gave some character to Ken, it's Kens time to shine.
I didn't see that feminist junk of crap show but i gotta give it to Ryan Gosling here. The song is a banger 🔥
For an actor to do this, not take himself too seriously is just class,he smashed it!!
Stole the show.

Slash attended no rehearsals. He arrived from China right before the show and left immediately after for Thailand.❤️❤️🎸🔥🔥🔥
Slash doesn't need to rehearse. He's Slash. 🎸
Legend lol
Which might explain why he looks as if he's about to fall over and start sawing logs.
Oh god, poor dude! He was probably beyond exhausted. I saw Ryan kind of hugged him and kind of...tilted him back upright a little bit. Poor dude. Seriously, they probably should have just let him sleep, but he probably wanted to be there.
So he’s Asian now very interesting
Ryan Gosling is the GOAT for this. Just jumped right in, had fun, and didn't take himself too seriously. That's what we all need right now!
❤❤
Not serious but SERIOUSLY DELIVERED ❤
His dedication, his giggles without breaking character, Margot’s reaction, there’s nothing about this I don’t love
Also Billie Eilish trying not to laugh at the beginning haha
@@darth342 I just noticed that! omgs!
I was lowkey expecting Pete Davidson as well 😂
And Emma Stone singing so passionately ❤
I love also the effort of the other Kens
There's not a single person right there that's not smiling. He just won The Oscars…
Such an great actor like he deserves so much always!
Even Cilian Murphy has a genuine smile

3:06 the fact that the camera man even was added this gotta be the best Oscar’s performance
Probably the greatest live Oscar performance of all time.
Lady Gaga doing that Sound of Music medley was pretty amazing though.
This is up there. Hugh Jackmans opening number when he hosted was amazing too.
It's the best one I've ever seen, and I'm almost 60 lol.
I love how Ryan can't even contain himself during this performance. Makes me love this even more
Yet *still* managed to keep enuff of a lid on it to not break character... true professional

I love the idea of doing the marilyn Monroe concept but with the Ken character, it's such a funny yet super clever version of the hundreds of kens singing and dancing background of the movie xD
THAT’S what it was reminding me of!!! Spot on!
I hope that performance gets an emmy nomination. This is what should have won the Oscar for best song.
Between this and his appearance on SNL, Ryan better enter 2025 as an Emmy award nominee/winner!
If the Academy had voted after seeing this performance, certainly.
Ryan would have to put himself up for an Emmy to be considered. I doubt it since he doesn’t take award shows too seriously.
@@gabelogan5877 Wouldn’t that be up to his team?

Apparently Slash, along with Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang, contributed to the movie's soundtrack.

time stamp?
This will age well. Iconic.
Agreed!
Not enough can be said about how great Gosling's live performance is!! It was LIVE and he didn't make any mistakes in this really big musical number! He didn't miss a beat! How many people can do that? Not many at all!!
Well, it’s what professionals in the musical theatre do all the time, up to eight performances a week. Think of West End musicals, Broadway musicals, the Metropolitan Opera, and so on.
But he went _beyond_ that.
He managed to carry this off in the Dolby Theatre, which has over 3,000 seats including three balconies - it's two, three, or four times the size of a typical West End or Broadway theatre - knowing that millions were watching on TV.
That's what made it so truly extraordinary!
@@mirapollo8706 it’s not just that! Broadway shows don’t have giant cameras all over the place getting in the way. Broadway shows get to tech for weeks. The core of a Broadway show is its stamina and efficiency. I’m also just imagining those poor people in the trailers backstage calling the show on the fly. The core of an awards show broadcast is “you get one shot at this and we know you had half the time you needed to prepare.”
@diegolucano3354 Yes, absolutely.
The *Steadicam operators were effectively part* of the choreography, unseen, as were the spotters to guide them up and down the steps and indicate the edge of the stage so they wouldn’t fall off.
The *very first shot as Ryan starts singing behind Margot and then continues* to Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, and then onwards to the red steps, is a single shot all the way through, and the Steadicam operator was moving _backwards, up the steps_ in the middle of it.
The same sort of thing was happening later. It was all *a single camera shot when we glimpsed the four main supporting Kens* from the film (Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, and Ncuti Gatwa), then saw Ryan with his arm across Slash’s shoulders, and finally were looking up towards them from the main floor of the audience. Towards the end of that single shot, the Steadicam operator was descending the steps, sideways.
And then, of course, at the conclusion of the performance, *Ryan led the Steadicam operator Sean Flannery up the steps to bring him (and bring us, through the camera lens) to join him* on stage.
On top of that, there was no opportunity for “previews” of the performance with a full audience, to tweak the details prior to an official opening as there would be in the West End or on Broadway.
It was a performance that could never be repeated. It had to be absolutely right the first time.
*In those four minutes, he captured lightning in a bottle.*
It’s worth reading the interview with the choreographer. Very little rehearsal went into this. Ryan drove a lot of the ideas in it. He also asked if the cameraman would be cool with him kissing his hand. The cameraman was very cool with it.
Who wouldn't be okay with ryan gosling kissing u
you can tell there was very little rehearsal some of the back up dancers were faster than some others and it wasn't as sharp as thew movie but who cares, so glad they had fun with it
@@shanel4294 yeah regardless of by design or not, the spontaneity and rough edges added a lot to the fun of the performance.
"Can I kiss your hand?"
"You can take me home."
"What?"
"Huh?"
Gosling :- can I kiss your hand?
Cameraman :- You can kiss my cheeks I wouldn't care.
Gosling:- What??
Cameraman :- nothing
It’s rare to see so many people genuinely have fun on stage like that! Love it
Y menos en los Oscar ❤
Self-derision is many Scorpios' forte.
Especially Cillyan Murphy
But I was bored on my couch.

Why does nobody talk about how good he sings live?
he started as a singer when he was a kid with Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. There is a video of him singing as a kid so he is trained and talented.
He's great. There, I said it. He had a subtle run of notes on his way to the stage that was executed flawlessly - excellent pitch. And his last note was high and strong. The guy has looks, acting talent, musical ability, can dance, and can do both comedy and drama. I foresee an enduring career in Hollywood.

this is cinema
no sht
Such a manly hand. And how he kisses the hands...
This is probably the best Oscar performance of a song ever. I haven't seen Barbie but I like 1950s musicals and this ranks right up there.
1:26 stage crew f’d up the microphone stand height, and Ryan handled it soo well. Wow
That was the real moment he showed he was used to being onstage.
This moment will be forever remembered and embraced .... Ryan Gosling is so charismatic, he will be immortal
Very well said!
This HAS to be in the top 10 best performances of all time at the Oscars. I've played this video SO many times! Well done!
GEWELDIG meraviglioso Ryan Gosling bellissimo video e spettacolo.
Fair for you to say but for me, it was absolutely horrible lol.
@@bobabooey4537 you can't feel the kenergy

I cant stop watching this i think its my fav video of the year
That he couldnt contain his laughter and smile is just the best thing
Ryan Gosling, the pop star we never got 😢. This moment makes up for it.
apparently he was supposed to be one of the backstreet boys
@@heyjude6680but he did well as an actor
He has all the same training and background as Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera & J.C. Chasez. They were all castmates on the early 90s version of the Mickey Mouse Club on the Disney channel.
That's because he was an indie rock star 😊 Dean Mans Bones
Loved him on MMC! 😍
“I'm just Ken (and I’m enough) and I’m great at doing stuff” is the BEST LINE! Gosling is the only one who could've pulled this off! His commitment to character, his voice, the timing of running up to America, Greta, Margo and Emma. And seeing Slash and Wolfgang Van Halen on stage (I didn't even know they were part of the original soundtrack until I saw the BTS). Mark Ronson is a master. Makes me smile everytime. KEN IS A 10
Correction, He's Kenough
Wow. I thought the other guitarist looked familiar. I miss Eddie Van Halen. So, that's pretty cool how his son joined Slash onstage to help make this an awesome performance. Better than the movie version, really.
He had way too much fun doing this
Also gotta give some props to Simu Liu for just joining as one of 100 identically dressed background dancers.
How could someone watch this and not smile? Pure euphoria.
I didn’t smile🤷♀️. This song is okay, but it’s nowhere near as good as Billies song🤷♀️. IMO
It’s good but there’s a g3n0cide happening
@@Net_26 just because Billie’s won doesn’t make it a more fun song. Both of those songs are awesome! Stop comparing them when they are both completely different
@@Net_26billie's song is so boring
@@stoscherzando7095 Billie's song was fire.
