Yes ps vita actually is amazing for RPGS, indie titles and platformers. Also wish Sony spent even more energy perfecting remote play connection and control mapping. If they had made vita even stronger by maybe waiting another year, game ports would be amazing. Potentially becoming a must buy for PS consumers. Imagine the titles we would be getting! Thinking back to the glory psp days.
Sd cards can be really fast as long as the system using them can support it, like an sd express card, so wouldn’t necessarily need an ssd which would jack up the cost. Don’t think Sony is going to mess around with another handheld, I think their big thing with PS5 will be to continue to push remote play and have people make their games portable with more of the stuff they already have. Probably counting on leaps to 5G and fiber internet to make it more feasible as far as performance. Was interesting they had a survey where they were asking what all devices would you potentially use remote play on, including switch.
I love Child Of Light, the graphics, the gameplay but especially the soundtrack...is absolutely phenomenal. It breaks my heart that such an amazing game on all fronts wasn't picked up by more people.

@@psychologyfact7010 completed both mario kart 8, mario kart 8 deluxe(and also 7, ds and 64 for that matter) and both all-stars racing games and transformed makes many things way better than mario kart 8. Mainly the fact that the tracks are constantly changing through laps and that items can't 1-to-12 you with so much ease. If the physics were a little more consistant it would be objectively better than 8 for me
I liked Playstation Allstars, but it was like the definition of wasted potential (sort of like the Vita itself) with its weird 3rd party character choices and the requirement of needing to use your super attacks to knock out your opponents. If it was just Smash Bros with Sony characters, I think it would've been a lot better (they could even keep some of its more unique features, like combining 2 franchises' stages into 1). I would support them trying this concept again with the PS5. Then again, I would support a Vita 2, and I don't think that'll ever happen.
Honestly, if you overclock your Vita (I recommend PSVshell for this), all framerate problems disappear. Also, using VitaGrafix, you can make the games higher resolution on your Vita, if they don't use the native resolution already
I love the OLED as well but I have a feeling the LCD screen might benefit some of the older games like ps1 and psp. I think those game might actually look better on the slim. What do you think?

I enjoyed the colour of wipeout on the fat ps vita but preferred killzone mercenary on the slim I think it’s the ergonomics of it. sometimes the oled can feel to saturated in some titles and over time black spots appear in dark images. I remember selling vitas while I worked at GAME which is a uk video game seller and unfortunately people just wanted it for minecraft or call of duty and had misconceptions that it could play ps3 and ps2 games. It was a shame the vita didn’t sell even if I tried hahaha.

CHILD OF LIGHT is one game i do not regret getting. its so beautiful and the battle mechanics are very simple. i love the progression too. i remember not being able to put it down for a few days...i was hooked. do yourselves a favor guys...GET IT🔜

One the OLED sure it looks amazing but since I have the PSVita 2000 it doesn't look as decent still I prefer the 2000 because it's just have a longer Battery Life
I really wish ps All stars woulda caught on more with the fighting game community, coulda been balanced and refined a bit more but honestly I think it’s fundamentally a better “fighting” game than smash. People cracked on ps all stars because it was all about building meter and the risk reward of final blows, but 8 always thought that was a better idea than the stupid floaty knock everybody off the screen on random hits that basically smash fights turn into. If PS All starts coulda had a sequel I think it would have shown well at Evo, a game with a legit combo system that was more of a chess match than Smash.
Definitely I would say All-stars was a more technical game. It didn't have the popularity smash had but in terms of gameplay mechanics I thought it was superior. It really is a shame we never got a sequel.
SuperJumpReviews 2v2 in tournaments coulda been something wit tandem combos building to set ups to land that finisher. The rumor on sequel still hasn’t died, last one I saw was it would be a ps5 launch title & is being co produced by Capcom, though I highly doubt it
I loved the PS Vita. Maybe I will pick up again some time. I still play GBA and DS games and I see that the Vita games have aged well. Uncharted and Killzone Mercenary were literally handheld PS3 games.
I gave it to my younger sister. She likes it more than the Switch due to Little Big Planet, etc. I'm still interested in it since I feel like it will go up in price due to the PS Vita no longer being in production.
I want to but I'd have to buy the switch version and money is a little tight right now with everything that's going on in the world. If it's on sale maybe I'll look into it.
Sonic and All-stars also has a few slowdowns on the PS3, at least whe you're playing the split-screen mode. It still remains as one of the best karting games out there, and it plays great on the vita. Have you ever played Dragon Quest Builders? I don't know if it counts as a port, but it's nearly identical to the console version, in my opinion it's one of the best games you can get for the vita. Seen this and FFx HD, makes me think that square was one of the few, if not the only, AAA company who actually gave a crap abbout the vita, there's even a version of Dragon Quest heroes, which sadly never came out of japan.
you should really bring up overclocking more in your videos, because all these frame drops that seemingly curse such well made games like these are really all because of the vita's crappy battery life to performance ratio. many people actually notice how hilariously conservative the vita is, thus homebrew to the rescue once again. so really a lot of the performance issues stated in the video are easily cancelled out, sometimes even making the vita version the definitive version of the game. other than that, yet again you never fail to give us even more great games to play on the vita.

The Vita is such a cool little console. I really hope that Sony would try again. Here's an idea: Sony should make new portable that's a companion to the PS5. It'd be awesome to be able to dock a new portable on the PS5; giving the PS5 a little extra power to PS5 games that need it. Sony's next portable could potentially be a mini PS5/PS5 power expansion hybrid. This would give almost every PS5 owner an incentive to pick up a new Sony portable console. Give your PS5 more power at home with your "PS5 Portable" or play all your PS5 games on the go (watered down, of course). Sony could pull off this incredible idea, right? Perhaps it's too late already.
As much as I wish this would happen I don't think it ever will. Sony is pretty much done with the handheld market. I think all their energy and money is going into the ps5. But then again, if they do announce another handheld in a few weeks, then I would be the happiest person alive🙂
When probably most PS Vitas out there don't have the OLED screen, it is an iffy point for the Vita. The lower resolution is quite obvious to me. Of course playing it on a small screen won't matter that much if at all depending on the game, but as I watch these comparisons on a PC monitor, quite obvious. LOL you mentioned the gyroscope....I completely forgot it had it and I use a Vita for years now. Hilarious. Virtua Tennis 4 is great, I am glad I have it on physical.

I'm still pissed off with how Sony handled it. Especially when I see the success Nintendo has with the Switch. Switch which I am pretty sure I will never buy because everyone tells me to buy it. Honestly two previous lists had solid games (although there were too many fighthing games for my taste), but I would sacrifice these 5 titles to have a good Borderlands 2 port.
Another great port are the project diva games that got to the vita. Besides not being able to use the sticks for the stars in F, both F and F2nd are identical and perform the same than in ps3 and there's little difference in x between vita and ps4
I might have to agree with you about Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed. I was a huge fan of Need For Speed Most Wanted (and still am) but I picked up Sonic Racing a couple weeks ago and have been hooked on it. Its my new go-to racing game on the Vita whenever I wanna race. The career mode is really challenging but lots on fun. As far as I can tell the online servers are still up but I haven’t met anyone else playing yet. Maybe some day.

I got 4 of the 5 games on this list (the only one missing is Virtua Tennis 4) and had a ton of blast with each, especially since I got most of them for free thanks to PS+ shame Sony discontinued the free PSVita and PS3 games on PS+ as both feature some really great hidden gems that people need to experience at least once
I'm playing the ac chronicles as you recommended finished china and india i didn't enjoy a ps vita game like this in a long time but the game got it's flaws i feel like the combat system is clunky and some of the sequence were really frustrating and hard i mean rage quit hard XD but despite all this the game is okay and catchy the important that it's catchy thanks :) anyway i'm halfway into russia dragon's crown is next :D
That's cool! Where you stuck at the beginning of Russia where you had to create a distraction by shooting the search light and then finding the magnetic key off the one guard? Part was a little annoying not gonna lie.
One other game port which is near identical to the console version is LittleBigPlanet. Yeah sure it may have a different story, but it has like a lot of if not all stuff from LBP1 and LBP2, excluding LBP3 (for the PS4 & PS3). IT LITTERALLY RETAINS THE FORMULA OF THE LBP SERIES!

I suspect the same reason I don't care for Child of Light is the reason most other gamers didn't pick it up as well. Before I finally played it I was always intrigued and always had it at the back of my mind/ wishlisted because of all the great things people and reviews were saying about the game but upon finally picking it up at a friend's I was majorly letdown with it's simplicity and not really living up to the hype people have created around the game.

Man, there's a difference between slow-downs (meaning framerate is tied to game speed) and framerate dips, but no slow-down. The first one is unforgivable, the second one can be okay, depending on the game.
With child of light: "People, for some reason, refuse to pick it up"... It is $14.99! For me, it is too expensive. If it was $9.99 then I would consider getting it.

Chrono phantasma had a worst online than the 3 consoles, some weird hitbox registration, you had to download the story mode (which if you don't have internet well...) and some weird background details. There's a reason why central fiction didn't come to vita and the ps3 version was very unstable

@@SuperJumpReviews dead nation is not a dungeon crawler in any real sense.. i meant more those games that you can kick in, play a round, get some loot (eather permanent like in diablo or just for one run like binding of isaac) and try your best to eather finish a run or survive as long as possible.. more often than not, those are the games that have in my opinion the most longevity in terms of replayability.. have a bit of time to play games, but not the time to really get into all the nitty gritty of the game mechanics? boom play some isaac or dead nations road to devastation..

Nah the best racing for ps vita for me is wipeout 2048 it is amazing graphically the best amongst others on ps vita and the 2 dlcs hd and fury make it even better by that dlcs you basically have a portable wipeout omega collection it is amazing

It's sad when you see all those affordable smartphones with full hd amoled display, snapdragon 660 to 865 that runs games with stunning graphics full resolution at solid 60fps like Call of Duty Mobile, Darkness Rises, even Black Desert, or console ports like GTA San Andreas, GRID Autosport, Fortnite, PUBG, Transistor, Bully... And Xbox/Sony don't invest on that tech specs for their portable console (I said Xbox because the cross-buying platform give a lot of potential for an portable xbox console). The only problem with mobile games are the disgusting microtransition free to play model, because there's no reason to blame the performance or graphic quality, even the touchscreen controls because you have the option to use a Xbox or Dualshock controller, or those hundred bluetooth gamepads, but, imagine a full console experience on mobile with multiplayer and campaign just by buying the game one time at full price? I hope that Sony or Xbox make a new portable console matching the snapdragon potential, or maybe studios like Ubisoft starts to release full ports of their games on Android/iOS
I mean, that's exactly why Sony and MS won't release a portable gaming console. Because like you mentioned, there's a host of other devices that can do the same thing and more. So why would Sony and MS want to enter into that market? I wish we got another handheld device from Sony but at the same time I understand why they wouldn't want to. One the OLED sure it looks amazing but since I have the PSVita 2000 it doesn't look as decent still I prefer the 2000 because it's just have a longer Battery Life

There is a new mod that lets you up the brightness and contrast on the 2000 model and it actually looks much better. ALMOST as good as OLED
I really wish ps All stars woulda caught on more with the fighting game community, coulda been balanced and refined a bit more but honestly I think it’s fundamentally a better “fighting” game than smash. People cracked on ps all stars because it was all about building meter and the risk reward of final blows, but 8 always thought that was a better idea than the stupid floaty knock everybody off the screen on random hits that basically smash fights turn into. If PS All starts coulda had a sequel I think it would have shown well at Evo, a game with a legit combo system that was more of a chess match than Smash.
Definitely I would say All-stars was a more technical game. It didn't have the popularity smash had but in terms of gameplay mechanics I thought it was superior. It really is a shame we never got a sequel.
SuperJumpReviews 2v2 in tournaments coulda been something wit tandem combos building to set ups to land that finisher. The rumor on sequel still hasn’t died, last one I saw was it would be a ps5 launch title & is being co produced by Capcom, though I highly doubt it
I loved the PS Vita. Maybe I will pick up again some time. I still play GBA and DS games and I see that the Vita games have aged well. Uncharted and Killzone Mercenary were literally handheld PS3 games.

Sonic and All-stars also has a few slowdowns on the PS3, at least whe you're playing the split-screen mode. It still remains as one of the best karting games out there, and it plays great on the vita. Have you ever played Dragon Quest Builders? I don't know if it counts as a port, but it's nearly identical to the console version, in my opinion it's one of the best games you can get for the vita. Seen this and FFx HD, makes me think that square was one of the few, if not the only, AAA company who actually gave a crap abbout the vita, there's even a version of Dragon Quest heroes, which sadly never came out of japan.
Is Dragon Quest builders similar to minecraft? I've heard of it but wasn't sure how I felt about having to play another building game.
you should really bring up overclocking more in your videos, because all these frame drops that seemingly curse such well made games like these are really all because of the vita's crappy battery life to performance ratio. many people actually notice how hilariously conservative the vita is, thus homebrew to the rescue once again. so really a lot of the performance issues stated in the video are easily cancelled out, sometimes even making the vita version the definitive version of the game. other than that, yet again you never fail to give us even more great games to play on the vita.

The Vita is such a cool little console. I really hope that Sony would try again. Here's an idea: Sony should make new portable that's a companion to the PS5. It'd be awesome to be able to dock a new portable on the PS5; giving the PS5 a little extra power to PS5 games that need it. Sony's next portable could potentially be a mini PS5/PS5 power expansion hybrid. This would give almost every PS5 owner an incentive to pick up a new Sony portable console. Give your PS5 more power at home with your "PS5 Portable" or play all your PS5 games on the go (watered down, of course). Sony could pull off this incredible idea, right? Perhaps it's too late already.
As much as I wish this would happen I don't think it ever will. Sony is pretty much done with the handheld market. I think all their energy and money is going into the ps5. But then again, if they do announce another handheld in a few weeks, then I would be the happiest person alive🙂
When probably most PS Vitas out there don't have the OLED screen, it is an iffy point for the Vita.
The lower resolution is quite obvious to me. Of course playing it on a small screen won't matter that much if at all depending on the game, but as I watch these comparisons on a PC monitor, quite obvious.

Virtua Tennis 4 is great, I am glad I have it on physical.
I have it on physical too but it's only cartridge. I couldn't find one with the case. That would've cost an extra $20😬
@@SuperJumpReviews I was very careful what games I bought for my Vita. I have only about 10 I think, physical. So I made sure to buy them new or close to that condition. I'm still pissed off with how Sony handled it. Especially when I see the success Nintendo has with the Switch. Switch which I am pretty sure I will never buy because everyone tells me to buy it. I promise you I am not crazy.

Honestly two previous lists had solid games (although there were too many fighthing games for my taste), but I would sacrifice these 5 titles to have a good Borderlands 2 port.
Just buy a switch if you want a portable version of Borderlands 2 that runs properly
Another great port are the project diva games that got to the vita. Besides not being able to use the sticks for the stars in F, both F and F2nd are identical and perform the same than in ps3 and there's little difference in x between vita and ps4

I might have to agree with you about Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed. I was a huge fan of Need For Speed Most Wanted (and still am) but I picked up Sonic Racing a couple weeks ago and have been hooked on it. Its my new go-to racing game on the Vita whenever I wanna race. The career mode is really challenging but lots on fun. As far as I can tell the online servers are still up but I haven’t met anyone else playing yet. Maybe some day.

I got 4 of the 5 games on this list (the only one missing is Virtua Tennis 4) and had a ton of blast with each, especially since I got most of them for free thanks to PS+
shame Sony discontinued the free PSVita and PS3 games on PS+ as both feature some really great hidden gems that people need to experience at least once

I'm playing the ac chronicles as you recommended finished china and india i didn't enjoy a ps vita game like this in a long time but the game got it's flaws i feel like the combat system is clunky and some of the sequence were really frustrating and hard i mean rage quit hard XD
but despite all this the game is okay and catchy the important that it's catchy thanks :)

One other game port which is near identical to the console version is LittleBigPlanet. Yeah sure it may have a different story, but it has like a lot of if not all stuff from LBP1 and LBP2, excluding LBP3 (for the PS4 & PS3). IT LITTERALLY RETAINS THE FORMULA OF THE LBP SERIES!

I suspect the same reason I don't care for Child of Light is the reason most other gamers didn't pick it up as well.
Before I finally played it I was always intrigued and always had it at the back of my mind/ wishlisted because of all the great things people and reviews were saying about the game but upon finally picking it up at a friend's I was majorly letdown with it's simplicity and not really living up to the hype people have created around the game.
The PSVITA brought us true CONSOLE gaming on the go before the SWITCH was even a thing... the Switch is just a Vita clone.
It can't be a Vita clone since it plugs into the TV, plus the Turbo Express brought us true console gaming on the go, not the Vita.

Man, there's a difference between slow-downs (meaning framerate is tied to game speed) and framerate dips, but no slow-down. The first one is unforgivable, the second one can be okay, depending on the game.

Almost every fighting games that use's pixels models are near identical to consoles, Blazblue Chrono phantasma as some weird quirks but that's it

Chrono phantasma had a worst online than the 3 consoles, some weird hitbox registration, you had to download the story mode (which if you don't have internet well...) and some weird background details. There's a reason why central fiction didn't come to vita and the ps3 version was very unstable

@@SuperJumpReviews dead nation is not a dungeon crawler in any real sense.. i meant more those games that you can kick in, play a round, get some loot (eather permanent like in diablo or just for one run like binding of isaac) and try your best to eather finish a run or survive as long as possible..
more often than not, those are the games that have in my opinion the most longevity in terms of replayability..
have a bit of time to play games, but not the time to really get into all the nitty gritty of the game mechanics? boom play some isaac or dead nations road to devastation..
interesting, had no idea Virtua Tennis has gotten rare and jumped up in price like that.. I actually own both US and Japanese versions.. (I like cover variants ;) It goes under a diff name in Japan - Power Smash 4, but plays exactly like the american version, English menus and all.
The US version is rare if you're trying to get it complete with case but I think the EU copy is pretty cheap.

Nah the best racing for ps vita for me is wipeout 2048 it is amazing graphically the best amongst others on ps vita and the 2 dlcs hd and fury make it even better by that dlcs you basically have a portable wipeout omega collection it is amazing

It's sad when you see all those affordable smartphones with full hd amoled display, snapdragon 660 to 865 that runs games with stunning graphics full resolution at solid 60fps like Call of Duty Mobile, Darkness Rises, even Black Desert, or console ports like GTA San Andreas, GRID Autosport, Fortnite, PUBG, Transistor, Bully... And Xbox/Sony don't invest on that tech specs for their portable console (I said Xbox because the cross-buying platform give a lot of potential for an portable xbox console). The only problem with mobile games are the disgusting microtransition free to play model, because there's no reason to blame the performance or graphic quality, even the touchscreen controls because you have the option to use a Xbox or Dualshock controller, or those hundred bluetooth gamepads, but, imagine a full console experience on mobile with multiplayer and campaign just by buying the game one time at full price?
I hope that Sony or Xbox make a new portable console matching the snapdragon potential, or maybe studios like Ubisoft starts to release full ports of their games on Android/iOS
I mean, that's exactly why Sony and MS won't release a portable gaming console. Because like you mentioned, there's a host of other devices that can do the same thing and more. So why would Sony and MS want to enter into that market? I wish we got another handheld device from Sony but at the same time I understand why they wouldn't want to. There's just too much competition.

If Ubisoft, EA or any studio port some full games like Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005, or Tekken 6 for Android (like Rockstar did with GTA San Andreas), I definitely would by an high end gamepad with a phone holder and pay a full price to have a complete gaming experience instead of download Need for Speed No Limits, or Gangsta from Gameloft and expend 15min or more just to redeem those "daily missions rewards/login rewards/recharge energy to play" bullshit... GRID Autosport for example is awesome and show us potential.
Maybe if Microsoft release a Xbox store for Android, but piracy and hacking will ruin it... :'(

Most of the aaa games run on 15 to 18 fps vita really struggle to play them they did not make a good use of the excellent ps vita

@@SuperJumpReviews definitely the OLED makes the games look more vibrant, but the LED is perfect for the game play to feel like you were playing it on your old big box TV. So, for old PS1 and PSP classics, I believe that the Slim is better.
