Finally got mine about 2 years ago and hacked the crap out of it which fixed most of its issues including the crappy proprietary storage problem so I can now install a TON of games. It's now one of the best handhelds i've ever owned 👍
This is why game preservation efforts are important since it has become very apparent that companies like Sony and Nintendo don’t give a crap about old games and don’t care if they get lost to time. You can even say that Sony closing these digital stores justifies pirating these games because if they’re not going to make it available, then piracy is the only option
I have 2 both hacked.. I'm 35 so I had basically every system.. Vita is probably my favorite.. Though I did love my Dreamcast and original PlayStation... But Vita is AWESOME

Yes I wanted to say exactly this. Thank you for giving the Vita and PSP some love! I’ve watched some older MJR vids as well and it’s crazy how rare some of these vita titles have become (and the PSTV, too). I’ve been a gamer since the c64 and Intellivision and must say the PSVita is definitely one of the best and most versatile platforms out there.
One more Vita game I’d recommend for $10 is Mary Skelter-the physical version is now in the $150 range and I believe it’s exclusive-only the sequel is on other consoles. It’s a very good FP Dungeon crawler!
Yeah I never understood people that sold their ps3 after getting ps4. I kept mine most of my favorite games are on ps3. To me that was the best time for call of duty and Battlefield games. Bf3 and bops2 are my favorites. I recently bought battlefield 1942 I used to play the free demo years ago. It's still fun with lots of people playing.

The Vitas second analog makes PSP games so much funner to play esp shooters. I'm playing God's Eater Burst which I couldn't play on the PSP . 3rd Birthday is also another gem played on the Vita. That said I still find the original PSP 1000 more comfortable to hold . If they had a secondary analog it would of been the greatest handheld ever made ..IMHO 😉
Problem is, physical copies won't save you either in this age of games being released broken. Not like the days of PS2 and before where your physical copy was the entire game and it had to work right. I used to work in the industry in the 360/PS3/Wii generation and you wouldn't believe how broken our big AAA releases were on disc without patches. Sad to say, but piracy is the only true way to preserve games. Eg have custom firmware or at least a homebrew enabler setup on your console, have an iso image of the disc and have files saved for every update and DLC, and that's how you preserve your console games in the modern era. Can't even trust Game of the Year editions anymore. E.g. when I bought Spiderman GOTY I figured well I'll at least have the full game patched to a decent state on disc, but nope, all the DLC was given as a code with the game and I think it was the same disc you got if you bought the game Day 1.

Nice! Got my Vita and PS TV loaded up with all my purchases on a 256gb Micro SD card. I HIGHLY recommend all Vita owners to setup their Vitas to work with SD cards before the store disappears. There are lots of great tutorials online to help!

I sadly don't think any vita game sold that well. By far the most underrated handheld ever. Many of the best visual novels, RPGs, and rhythm games ever made can be played on it.

Yeah the oled screen looks great. I've had mine since launch and play it occasionally. Glad I got most of my games for cheap or free on PS+ Prices are crazy right now especially for physical complete copies !
I was lucky enough to pick up a 32gb blue vita and a complete copy of gravity rush six months ago for a total of about $160, jaw dropped when l checked ebay for prices on them now that the store is closing.

PSP hidden gem: Mortal Kombat Unchained This game is a port of MK: Deception. I have it on the original Xbox, but it didn't make the cut for the future consoles' backwards compatibility catalogue. Few MK games have an open-world story mode like this one does!
I'm not an MK fan by any means, but I loved playing Deception on the Xbox. The open world Konquest mode was really fun. I might pick this up, didn't realize they did a PSP port of that game.
My personal recommendations: •Grim Fandango •Full Throttle Two excellent graphic adventures from back in the day remastered. And this for Star Wars fans: •The Force Unleashed The PS2/Wii versions (which always were the best ones imo) on the go, it’s truly a treat to have this fun game and excellent story on my Vita.

Just remember guys and girls, whether it be the Vita, the PSP, PS3 or even PS4. If the cmos battery or online support is taken away there are ways to install custom firmware and still have access to your games.

I paid $40 "new" for the special edition from gamestop about a month ago. Of course it being gamestop everything was already open, but it was the cheapest price I could find. I already knew there was a risk ordering from gamestop.

The major problem with the Vita now are the memory cards failing. I’ve had three cards fail over the years and it hampers the desire to buy digitally. Sony really dropped the ball on this gem of a system.

I'm not going to worry about buying anymore PSP games, if you know what I mean... Anyway, I think it would be cool to follow up with a video on how to best archive Vita games/content. There's only so many Memory Cards to go around, so it might be a good idea to show options for storing the games - somewhere. I know that the PS3 has a manager of sorts, but available options would be cool.
Make sure to grab Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles too. You get the remake, plus the original Rondo Of Blood and Symphony Of The Night. Once the store goes, it's either the original UMD for PSP or... Other options.

This talk about a battery reminds me a lot about battery backed saves. By now most 8/16 bit games need or have had a coin battery replacement. Makes me hope that we get something akin to the Retrode's purpose for these things, to get important data before dealing with the battery.

Will be interesting to see how prices go with these systems. Here in the UK PSP games are common in charity shops (thrift stores) and usually £1-£5. Something tells me psp will skyrocket. Ps Vita is relatively uncommon with prices already going up so some on that will probably be astronomical.
Oh, I can think of a few PSP games to pick up (if they are still available, that is)...Lunar Silver Star Harmony (the first game, but with some new stuff added including a new, playable prologue), Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins, Power Stone Collection (collects the two Dreamcast classics), Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, Little Big Planet, minis like The Impossible Game, Young Thor and Twin Blades, and an embarrassment of riches on the PS1 front, including Xenogears, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Suikoden II, Wild Arms, Alundra and many more that will be impossible to get digitally once Sony shuts down the stores. Any PS1 and mini games I buy on the PS3 get backed up onto the PSP just in case.

Finally got mine about 2 years ago and hacked the crap out of it which fixed most of its issues including the crappy proprietary storage problem so I can now install a TON of games. It's now one of the best handhelds i've ever owned 👍
This is why game preservation efforts are important since it has become very apparent that companies like Sony and Nintendo don’t give a crap about old games and don’t care if they get lost to time. You can even say that Sony closing these digital stores justifies pirating these games because if they’re not going to make it available, then piracy is the only option

I’ve watched some older MJR vids as well and it’s crazy how rare some of these vita titles have become (and the PSTV, too). Yeah I never understood people that sold their ps3 after getting ps4. I kept mine most of my favorite games are on ps3. To me that was the best time for call of duty and Battlefield games. Bf3 and bops2 are my favorites. I recently bought battlefield 1942 I used to play the free demo years ago. It's still fun with lots of people playing.

I wasn't aware anyone needed to be online to play their Playstations unless you're into nothing but online me too flavor of the week multiplayer games and nothing else. Naturally, servers will be shut down from consoles 2 generations ago (14 years ago).

The Vitas second analog makes PSP games so much funner to play esp shooters.
I'm playing God's Eater Burst which I couldn't play on the PSP . 3rd Birthday is also another gem played on the Vita.
That said I still find the original PSP 1000 more comfortable to hold . If they had a secondary analog it would of been the greatest handheld ever made ..IMHO 😉

This further drives home the reason why physical releases are so important!
Sony is shutting down the servers that send patches to digital games too, so several physical games that need a patch to run are SOL too.
Problem is, physical copies won't save you either in this age of games being released broken. Not like the days of PS2 and before where your physical copy was the entire game and it had to work right. I used to work in the industry in the 360/PS3/Wii generation and you wouldn't believe how broken our big AAA releases were on disc without patches. Sad to say, but piracy is the only true way to preserve games. Eg have custom firmware or at least a homebrew enabler setup on your console, have an iso image of the disc and have files saved for every update and DLC, and that's how you preserve your console games in the modern era. Can't even trust Game of the Year editions anymore. E.g. when I bought Spiderman GOTY I figured well I'll at least have the full game patched to a decent state on disc, but nope, all the DLC was given as a code with the game and I think it was the same disc you got if you bought the game Day 1.
Modding the vita is always the awnser
Even though it isn't mentioned in this video, if you get (or own) Muramasa Rebirth, be sure to get the DLC for it! Don't miss out on this! Trust me!

Nice! Got my Vita and PS TV loaded up with all my purchases on a 256gb Micro SD card. I HIGHLY recommend all Vita owners to setup their Vitas to work with SD cards before the store disappears. There are lots of great tutorials online to help!

I sadly don't think any vita game sold that well. By far the most underrated handheld ever. Many of the best visual novels, RPGs, and rhythm games ever made can be played on it.

I was lucky enough to pick up a 32gb blue vita and a complete copy of gravity rush six months ago for a total of about $160, jaw dropped when l checked ebay for prices on them now that the store is closing.

Mortal Kombat Unchained
This game is a port of MK: Deception. I have it on the original Xbox, but it didn't make the cut for the future consoles' backwards compatibility catalogue. Few MK games have an open-world story mode like this one does!
I'm not an MK fan by any means, but I loved playing Deception on the Xbox. The open world Konquest mode was really fun. I might pick this up, didn't realize they did a PSP port of that game.

Just remember guys and girls, whether it be the Vita, the PSP, PS3 or even PS4. If the cmos battery or online support is taken away there are ways to install custom firmware and still have access to your games.

The major problem with the Vita now are the memory cards failing. I’ve had three cards fail over the years and it hampers the desire to buy digitally. Sony really dropped the ball on this gem of a system.

The psvita got me into jrpgs. I feel they are perfect for handheld platforms.
I think everyone should also check out Food 4 Dogs videos on Vita exclusives. She turned me onto a game called Oreshika Tainted Bloodlines which is fantastic. Definitely check her out!

I'm not going to worry about buying anymore PSP games, if you know what I mean... Anyway, I think it would be cool to follow up with a video on how to best archive Vita games/content. There's only so many Memory Cards to go around, so it might be a good idea to show options for storing the games - somewhere. I know that the PS3 has a manager of sorts, but available options would be cool.

There is a bundle pack on the vita for mutant blobs attack and gaucemelee as well as a 3rd game all together as a bundle package.
Is that a physical release? I’d love to grab that one up. Never heard of the blobs game until this video, but looks great. I’ve had to resort to using moonlight to play Guacamelee through steam on my Vita that’s modded.

This talk about a battery reminds me a lot about battery backed saves. By now most 8/16 bit games need or have had a coin battery replacement. Makes me hope that we get something akin to the Retrode's purpose for these things, to get important data before dealing with the battery.

According to Wikipedia, 1298 Vita games were released for it... but the vast majority of those are indie games. Sony abandoned it too quickly IMHO.

It didn't sell well at any point.the cost of the system was too high at launch, the storage solution was a shit show(sd2vita wasn't a thing at launch), the exclusive partnership with at&t meant lots of people would need another plan just for the vita), no killer app/must play game(the thing that saved the psp from becoming a disaster was monster hunter, there wasn't going to be a monster hunter this time),lack of sony support (if you don't believe in your product how can you expect others to), major third parties jumping ship due to low sales, and lack of exclusives(99% of vita games were available on ps4 and pc, so if you want to play vita games just buy one of those and get the vita library+ thousands of games that weren't on vita)

Will be interesting to see how prices go with these systems. Here in the UK PSP games are common in charity shops (thrift stores) and usually £1-£5. Something tells me psp will skyrocket. Ps Vita is relatively uncommon with prices already going up so some on that will probably be astronomical.

Oh, I can think of a few PSP games to pick up (if they are still available, that is)...Lunar Silver Star Harmony (the first game, but with some new stuff added including a new, playable prologue), Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins, Power Stone Collection (collects the two Dreamcast classics), Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, Little Big Planet, minis like The Impossible Game, Young Thor and Twin Blades, and an embarrassment of riches on the PS1 front, including Xenogears, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Suikoden II, Wild Arms, Alundra and many more that will be impossible to get digitally once Sony shuts down the stores.
Any PS1 and mini games I buy on the PS3 get backed up onto the PSP just in case.
Im not panic buying games. If I dont already have them then It means I was never interested in then.
I've had a list of games I wanted to make sure I had in the event this happened, so I'm scooping them all up now.
I'm surprised that Muramasa Rebirth wasn't included into that list.
