Thanks for making this video! The original Colts are too expensive for most so the Italian clones fill the demand. Having someone like yourself inform shooters regarding these copies is invaluable. I never knew that Colt at one time considered having Uberti build guns for them. I've read your articles enough to trust the strength of these guns but still look at their improvements (such as larger cylinder diameter) as a safety factor rather than trying to push them significantly beyond what the Colts would do. Great demonstration too with the disassembled gun. I had to smile when you were showing the tiny little set screw in the back of the frame where the Hand spring goes. I bought one of the Uberti Stallion revolvers in 38 Special a couple years back and it was the 1st I had with the coil spring so when I took it apart for cleaning, that tiny little set screw went flying out into the thick carpet. :) Couldn't find anything even close in size at any hardware store and all the on-line sources were sold out. Finally found it months later with a big magnet. Keep these kinds of informative videos coming! So much info here.
Great information, I am amazed at the quality product they are able to put out for the money. Good to see you on this platform, I have really been enjoying the channel.
Thank you very much Brian! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. I respect your thoughts and opinions I know that you have experience with these guns and really know what you are talking about.
Great video , great info! Thanks for making it. I have owned many Uberti revolvers over the years and they were a great. Never had problems with them. I once had two flattops, one in 38 Special and one in 44 Special. They both had a little manual safety on the hammer. Hardly noticeable and a little difficult to use quickly. Empty chamber for those beautiful revolvers. They had tiny little sights on the barrels but those sights were dead on at 100 yards with standard loads. Lots of fun for plinking at 100 yards.
That was the best comprehensive video I’ve ever seen on the uberti six guns. I’ve always avoided these guns because I thought they were rather fragile and wouldn’t stand up to a lot of use. I think I’ll pick one up now, or maybe two 😂
Fascinating. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. To see a revolver once owned by Elmer Keith, amazing! I think the boys have to run their zombie course with S.A.'s. I bet you'd beat them!
I own 3 ubertis ; an 1858 remington cartridge conversion 44-40 ; a beretta stampede bisley ( made by uberti ) .45 colt ; and a black powder 1860 army in antique finish. The 1858 required extensive tuning to work properly , but it is extremely accurate. The stampede has a unique transfer bar system. Great info in your video .
Great video Brian, thank you! I'm warming up to a purchase of a 7 1/2" Matt Dillon type SA in .45 Colt. I like to shoot Duplex loads with a few grains of smokeless and 3F Swiss Black powder, with a 250 grain Keith style lead bullet. Gives all the smoke, but much cleaner burning!
I have a Cimarron Arms “Evil Roy” 4 3/4” .45 colt made by Uberti , great gun beautiful action. Great video thanks for the information, have been you since you began.
Good stuff, im a pietta man myself, but uberti makes a pretty gun. Ive always cowboy loaded single actions, wether they have a transfer bar safety or old school hammer spur. I do it just to keep it the same across the board, but i got rid of all the more "modern" single actions i had that were 3 click and didnt have a hammer spur. I just prefer the original style and features, the piettas have proven to be very reliable, rugged and accurate for me.
Well done, Mr. Pearce! I was going to ask how the Ubertis stack up against the Pietta revolvers, but you beat me to the draw; I’ll be looking forward to seeing that video. All the best - TSB
I bought an uberti 1873 called called them to get some information they this revolver is only rated for moderate 38 cowboy action loads wasn't to happy with that enjoy your videos keep up the great work thank you
2017 I purchased an Uberti 45LC SA, 6 months later had the chance to buy a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag SA, now I needed holster rig, a Gent from Michigan comment he had a double rig and if i paid the shipping it was mine, I said great, send it, holy moly 3 weeks later a package arrived, El Paso Saddlery Hellfire, WHAT, I paid a little more than shipping,(75.00) but still, thx buddy
I'm trying to decide between Piette and Uberti. Really looking forward to your video on Pietta. Although I'm probably gonna drop the hammer on the Pietta I'm looking at before it disappears. Enjoyed the video. RockOn.StayFree.
Love mine ubertis I do want a USAF and standard manufacturing to see what the hype is and they are beautiful guns. Would be great if you made a video on them with comparisons of the the four.
I have an El Patron with the factory Wolf springs. It’s back in for repair and will be gone for up to 12 weeks. The firing pin punctures the primers and the primers then jam the cylinder. All factory ammunition, no reloads.
Great informative video...two questions... If the Colt made guns are that much weaker, why has there been several models that were either chambered in just .45 ACP or in .45 Colt with an extra cylinder. Second, no one ever talks about how much pressure it takes to break the Safety Notch on a SAA. All the demonstrations I have seen are with the firing pin resting on the primer never as the instruction manual ssaid with the hammer in the Safety Position. Thanks for great videos...
You are correct....Colt began chambering the SAA in .45 ACP during the 1920's....and it has never been a problem. But the larger diameter of the Uberti is stronger. Regarding the safety notch; both the trigger sear and hammer notch break. And in controlled tests a large percentage of the time they fail. Thanks for the comments.
No, the stainless guns still have the standard SAA pattern trigger. And you are welcome! I'm not a natural at this video business, but I will get better! Thanks for watching.
@@PearceBrothersGearGuide I had a pair of 4 3/4 .45's about 15 years ago with very wide triggers and wish I still had them. Looking forward to your Pietta review.
I do, but I think we will discuss that in detail at a later date. If you are wanting a specific data with a given bullet and powder, I'm happy to share that information. Thanks for the comment!

We are planning on the doing a video on the Patton gun in the very near future. And we will definitely do some videos on conversion guns and model 70s. Thanks for watching!
I know you’ve said Pietta cannot handle the heavier loads in 45 Colt as compared to Uberti; however, some of the Piettas can use their 45 acp cylinders. Does that still mean they should use 14,000 psi 45 Colt loads? Also, I’ve long been curious about the pressure the black powder conversion cylinders can handle. Any information on that?
Pietta is making some fine Colt SAA clones. Hammer and drop forge frames, barrels, and cylinders. I think the bluing is nicer on the Pietta guns compared to the Uberti clones. No cast major parts like Uberti. Pietta also makes all its Colt clones with the "four click" hammers unlike Uberti.
You know how reloading manuals have loads for 45 Colt for Ruger and Contenders only? You do not see this warning with 357 Mangum loads, so, are Stoeger/Uberti/Cimarron 1873 revolvers able to stand the same pressures as a Ruger Blackhawk in 357 Magnum?
I have my working rigs that are made with a canvas belt that are 2 1/2-inches wide. They are lightweight, cool on hot summer days, very comfortable and they don't slip and slide....but they are very homely! I don't know who is currently offering webb/canvas belts. El paso saddlery does, but it is too wide for the belt loop of most holsters. When going to to a BBQ, I often choose a fully carved rug from El Paso Saddlery or a vintage rug from George Lawrence...but there are many excellent craftsman making great custom leather to your specifications. Thanks for watching our channel.
Own a 'few' love em. Most accurate Colt I ever had was a 5.5" second gen in 45 colt. all my Uberti's shoot at least as accurate. Yes.. real Colts did not have brass backstraps... Colt actually bought rough castings for their percussion re introction ones. My Uberti .357 has .357 chambers and .357 bore.. My 44 spl has .431 chambers and .4295 bore perfect. Yes cylinders are just a tad bigger in dia. And... cause of our dissagreement? the have better safety notch (better materials) I agree that the strength of the guns is more than original Colts but we do not agree that it did not carry to the safety notch... this seems odd to me. I think the old Colt notch (2nd gen) was plenty strong and the Uberti is even stronger. You load 5 I load 6 and use the safety notch. Seems odd that you would use loads that are 10% or more than you would use in a Colt but ... somehow don't trust the safety notch. but do trust the shallow base pin notch and soft screw? LOl and worst of all use the government for a reference? They say the 1911 is not save cause.. if dropped from 12' onto concrete it might go off but wait! only if it is in a guide to make sure that the 1911 hits perfectly flush in muzzle and concrete. Lotto chances anyone? got to ask.. when you carry with the hammer down on an empty chamber....Do you just expect everyone to trust you that it is indeed on an empty chamber? but.. if in the safety notch? I can see it in your holster and don't have to trust your memory.
