I’ve read Brian’s articles since he started writing. Thoroughly enjoyed them all. Stumbled on to this channel and love the content. I’ve watched these boys grow up in his articles over the years, and what a great bunch of young men they have become. Keep the great content coming, thanks.
Great video. Keep up the good work! For camping today, I would use my 2.75 inch S&W M69 with a Marlin 1894 in 44 Magnum. Year ago I would have used a 4 inch S&W M29 and a Winchester M88 in 358 Winchester.
Nice choices of weaponry. Nice to see several options for loads depending on the situation. Every weapon has a unique story. Beautiful leather holster on the .44! It's hilarious the father keeps pulling guns out of nowhere. 😅🤣
Brian, I talked with you on the phone a couple of times about seven years ago. You are a very nice gentleman. I comissioned Ben Forken to build me an old model Ruger Blackhawk in 44SPL. and Roy Fishpaw made the grips. Also bought many USFA guns back then, thanks to you my friend.
I love your channel, comforts me to know my family, friends and I aren’t the only red, white and blue blooded Americans out there. Keep up the great work 🇺🇸
I love the stories! Of course I love all the guns, especially the classics like the Hi Power, the Winchester Model 12, and the gorgeous USFA. However I always thought the best part of sitting around a camp fire when I was growing up was all the great stories. Thanks for the great videos and keep them coming!
I wish me and my 4 brothers and dad could make a video like this, but I would need to bring all the guns. I do have enough to cover it though, knives too.
I enjoyed your video. We live in the Smoky Mountains of NC. For the versatility, my long gun would be my Mossberg 500 12 gauge pump. My handgun would be my S&W model 69, 44 mag with a 2.75" barrel. I'm subscribing to your channel. Please make more videos like this.
Howdy, neighbor! I live on the TN side of the Smoky Mountains, but for all intents and purposes we’re in the same locale. I typically pack a Winchester 94 in 30-30, and a S&W Model 686-3, 4” in .357 Magnum. I’ll alternate those two with an old Remington Wingmaster 12 Gauge made in 1950, and a Colt M1991A1 in .45 ACP. Usually a .22lr (rifle or handgun) isn’t too far away either. Always handy to have around. Like you said, versatility is the name of the game. Pretty hard to beat an old pump action in that regard. Especially in our territory in the Appalachians. Take care partner. See you on the trail!
When I am working outside a single action usfa rodeo in 38 special was always handy. I keep it with 3 snake shot and 2 148 gr hollow base wadcutters. But unfortunately it has gotten pretty valuable so now I use a flattop ruger 44 special and I keep it with 3 shotshell and 3 246 gr round nose lee mould cast. I just recently changed the grip frame to an original colt style bisley aluminum frame from rw grip frames and a 2 dog's custom rear sight blade. I painted the front blade orange and the rear square outline in green. Between the contrasting colors I can still have a great sight picture and alignment even when the setting sun is in my eyes. I always thought one of the henry survival 22 rifles that store in the buttstock world be all kinds of handy for a backpack rifle. I, always like to hear the different discussions on people's different types of requirements for firearms it's always interesting.
Great question and a fine campfire discussion as well. Depending where traveling, what doing, and for how long, it might be a revolver like the GP 100 in 327 Fed. Magnum with a variety of handloads, from defensive to small game and plinking. The longarm of choice might be my earlier Winchester 94 in 30-30 with Leupold LER handgun scope, fixed 2x or 4x (I can't remember or maybe it's variable lol), again with a variety of handloads. From silent "Cat Sneeze" rounds and round ball @ 22 mag power level, up to cast rnfp at adequate velocity to handle anything encountered here in the Northeast. Side note, I only bought the 94 because I wanted the scope for another project, but liked the combo so much, I kept them together. It's mounted far forward kinds like the scout rifle concept. It handles very well, balances perfectly and the aim is extremely fast to acquire with both eyes open. Heck, now I want to go camping...
I just found your channel today and really enjoyed it. Yall remind me very much of me and my family here in north west Georgia. We are a gun family for sure lol. Especially single action and lever rifles.
Also, I'm guessing your dad is the same Brian Pearce who used to write for some gun magazines? Loved reading his articles/stories, because he seemed to favor the 'cowboy style' guns, same as me. I like them all, except maybe Ar's and AK's (bad memories from my career in the US Army including several combat tours in SE Asia)
Thanks for yet another cool video! "What future Camp Fire videos would you like to see?" I'd like to see a video sharing stories where a gun "saved the day," so to speak. You were in the wilderness and you used a gun defensively or had it with you in a close call. Could be any story each of you share where you thought, "Thank God I had this thing with me that day." What gun was it? What was the situation? What lesson did you learn that day?
There was once where Brian had to draw his revolver and shoot a badger that came out of an irrigation pipe. Then he went and finished his article that he was in the middle of writing.
Well done. It was easy to imagine sitting across from y'all, warming by the fire. My neighborhood is suburban but close enough to the big forest to have coyotes and rarely, even a mountain lion walking through our yards. The more likely threat here is downtown in the nearby city, which is overrun with crime. A S&W Shield, in .45 ACP, stays on my dominant side, with either a Springfield XD9 or Glock 20sf close by. Since my friend put down a monstrous cougar last year, I'm not going into the woods without the G20 (10mm). When driving around the back country, like over the Cascades, I keep a Kalashnikov with ~120 rounds of 7.62x39 in the trunk. One never knows... Your 45-70 lever guns are very appealing. The single action revolvers are charming but I know I'd be slow with one of those. Thanks for a really nice show.
Damn, I'd go camping with any one of you ha ha, awesome choices and all up my alley in some way! The Kar98k and 1911 combo was cool, along with all the sweet lever action rifles. When I saw the trench gun and no handgun well, that's practically how I end up camping a lot, love the versatily of 12 gauge and I camp in thick woods so 20" barrels are about max for me! I like that a 12 gauge can handle small game year round, do predator defense with lethal and non lethal shells, and are cheap to shoot for fun around camp too! In Canada I can't carry a side arm besides an expensive antique, but i a hypothetical situation, I think a Taurus Judge or S&W Governer would make a cool and adequate bushgun around here with .410 for small game, and .45 Colt for anything else that I may have to defend myself from. A jack of some trades master of none, but I think it would be fun and reasonably effective where no big bears roam.
Good video! Most of the time; half of my wood cutting tools becomes my melee self defense weapons whenever I do outdoor camping. I would use either my Shovel axe or my 12 inch chainsaw for close self defense. Then for long range; I would carry my old Mosin Nagant 762x54R. Depending on how dangerous the camp site would be from four legged/ two legged critters then I will swap out my bolt action for my semi-auto M1A Springfield 308. The typical AR-15 556/223 will work but nothing wrong with 308 when you're in bear country. Handgun wise any high pressure 9mm to 357 Mag would suffice for me.
Great video guys. My choice for backcountry camping, short hikes and sightseeing would include my S&W Model 18 .22LR and my Marlin 1894 .357 Or my Marlin 39M .22 and my S&W 629 4" Or my P365XL and My hybrid RR/DoubleStar AR Lots of options, but These are generally the lightest most compact...
welcome from the foothills of the blue ridge mountains in NC. I'm older with disabilities and don't get to hunt and fish like I used to. but not helpless or complaining .I wish all hunters and fisherman could be blessed to do what I have done. we have black bear and wild and ferial hogs near here. if I could go fishing in those areas I would have my Taurus tracker 44mag with 280 gr hardcast around 1000fps or my Taurus pt845 45acp 12shot with my reloaded 255gr hard cast 950fps.i believe these loads brinnel hardness factor of 18 to22 should take care of most anything in north America with exception of the largest of bears.. but only as a secondary weapon as a slug shotgun or appropriate rifle being main weapon in big bear country. I so greatly enjoyed the video. Papa wishing you well 😊
Good stuff! Some of those gems are too nice for camping, IMHO. Here on the east coast I like a Mossberg 500, 12 guage and a Ruger speed six 357, just because.
Savage 99 in .358 Win with Lyman peep sight, or .444 Marlin also Lyman peep. Handgun would be Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt (mine has the .45ACP extra cylinder as well), camp gun Ruger single six .22lr/.22mag. Buck 110 Lightwweight folding Hunter.
I’m in NE OH and would camp in east Ohio or western PA. We’ve got coyotes, feral hogs and huge black bear in western PA that are moving into Ohio. I’d probably take my 625-3 with heavy cast bullets and either my Marlin 1895 or .444. Cast bullets there too. Jealous it’s cool enough for you to have a camp fire!
For the last 4o+ years of camping or working outdoors on horseback ; I've packed a pair of 44 mags . 16" Winchester 94 AE Trapper model and a Ruger redhawk 5.5" barrel . Sometimes, I'll carry a 45 acp 1911 and a 30-30 winchester 94 AE trapper model if grizzlies are not a part of the equation . Those guns have cleanly killed anything I needed to or wanted to kill short of grizzlies, which I don't hunt and never had to protect myself from. I was charged by a 450lbs black bear in Arkansas and put him down with one head shot with my Ruger Redhawk and a 240 grs Remington semi-jacketed soft point . He folded dead in his tracks on the spot . My rifle was on my horse tied up in the bushes about 25 yards away cause I was patching fences and didn't pay attention on how far away I got from him while working . Those trapper models are the best saddle guns I ever found for my personal needs . I'm not saying that they are what everyone should carry . But those are the ones for me !
Thank you. Brian what is the model 81 chambered for? My guess is that it's a 250- 3000 ? Or something in .257 cal. I have been reading your articles. In Hand loader and Rifle for a long time and it is great to see you and your family in this video looking forward to seeing more. Keep up the good work. Your friend from NW Oregon.
Real cowboys😂 revolvers and lever actions with 1 shotgun. Seriously tho great vid enjoyed the content. Southern middle tennessee here i would take my 12 gauge maverick 88 and taurus g2c 9mm
When camping in the mountains I’ll take either a 12g shotgun or Marlin 30-30. Usually two handguns, my GP100 .357 and one of my Glock 9mms. When camping in the desert I’ll take several guns but my main carry guns are a 9mm Glock and AR-15. Camping on the beach I just take a 9mm.
I like how all gun videos on UA-cam have three comments. 1. The old folks who see a 20 of your something with a gun and believe that they're going to rebuild America or wine and mowing about how everything was better when they were a kid. 2. The Europeans bemoaning the fact that they can't buy a gun. 3. The people who actually watched the video and are commenting on the things actually said in the video
@@PearceBrothersGearGuide I actually forgot one. There's a fourth type of comment. There is always a group of old folks who cannot stand a firearm made within the last 10 or 15 years. If I had a nickel for every time I have seen some comment or other saying the AR-15s are just a gimmick and all you need is a 1911 or a Winchester 3030. Nobody would ever hear from me again LOL

My choice for backcountry camping, short hikes and sightseeing would include my S&W Model 18 .22LR and my Marlin 1894 .357
Or my Marlin 39M .22 and my S&W 629 4"
Or my P365XL and My hybrid RR/DoubleStar AR
Lots of options, but These are generally the lightest most compact...
Great options! Thanks for watching
Wish I could join you guys
But I'm unfortunately stuck in NYC
Wish I could live a life like you guys
We love it out here in Idaho
@@PearceBrothersGearGuide wish I could visit you one day
welcome from the foothills of the blue ridge mountains in NC. Papa wishing you well 😊
Thank you for watching! Good choices!
Loved it, just subscribed.
Welcome aboard! Thank you!
I love the Hogan's heroes background music I'm 17 but I watched it on reruns on Free TV
We loved Hogans Heroes growing up!
Good stuff! Some of those gems are too nice for camping, IMHO. Here on the east coast I like a Mossberg 500, 12 guage and a Ruger speed six 357, just because.
357 is a great outdoor caliber!
Great choices! Those Lyman peep sights are great sights for lever guns.
Right on men, still only have two hands. I too am guilty. lol
Haha that's right, backup is always good
Great choices 👍🏿
Thank you!
Those are good choices! It was plenty warm, we let it burn down a while before filming haha!
awesome video mine are a GP100 and a Henry big boy both in 357 mag
Great guns!
Your dad helped me with heavy 45acp loads, thanks. Just found your channel, I look forward to catching up.
Thank you! We have alot of cool stuff planned so stay tuned
Great choices
👍
Thank You for the great video & perspectives gentlemen!

Thanks for watching!
Nice rigs boys.
Thanks 👍
Id love to see a camping video with these guys
We've got a hiking video coming sometime soon, it's pretty entertaining
I wish I had a group of buds to sit around a campfire with to talk about guns....
The Great Obama Ammo Famine - we all remember that well!
Those were bad times.
Thumbs-up from the swamps of Florida ~John
Thank you!
Love y’all’s channel. I’m David from Louisiana.
Thank you!
From Canada ! I’m jealous 😢
I'm sorry! Canada is a beautiful country... I'm sad to see your gun rights constantly under attack
That's great! Thanks for sharing
Great video, I really enjoyed it in North Idaho.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wholesome 👍🏼
Thanks!
I have a ESP I think silver mat finish Rock Island.45 and it’s a very accurate pistol!
Very nice!
I don't think your Dad actually said what caliber his Browning BLR 81 was chambered in? He mentioned Hornady 87gr V-Max, so I'm assuming .243?
Yes, 243! He got a little ahead of himself haha
Real cowboys😂 revolvers and lever actions with 1 shotgun.
Seriously tho great vid enjoyed the content.
Southern middle tennessee here i would take my 12 gauge maverick 88 and taurus g2c 9mm
Thanks for watching! We appreciate the support!
I had a s&w 317 loved it, relocated and needed extra cash to move so it got sold...
It's always the worst when you have to sell a gun.
0:17 when you all posed with your weapons, it reminded me of Team Fortress 2
Overall, loved the video
Thank you! We appreciate the support. We were going for a gear up scene similar to 1984 Commando with Arnold Schwarzenegger
Liked watching youns video youns really know youns guns keep up the videos
Thanks!
Good choices for different scenarios!
Hahahaha all too true!
Where's mama? I bet she has her favorite guns too. My mother always had a 12 ga pump close at hand when we camped out
Subscribed.
Thanks!
I missed what caliber the BKR was. Think it was a 25 caliber, because of the 87 gr bullets
The BLR 81 is a .243 Winchester. Sorry that I was not more clear on that. And thanks for watching.
I believe that Browning BLR is a 243?
That is correct!
