Happy New Year everyone! We hope you enjoy this video! John has made a huge impact on the Sixgun world and this is a great tribute gun to him. Enjoy the video and keep John in your prayers.
Been praying for John for a while now and will continue to do so. His writings on sixguns have been such a blessing and pleasure to read over the years. Thank you all for keeping us updated on him and thank you for honoring him with this beautiful sixgun.
After reflecting on this video for a couple of days I've come to the personal conclusion that Johns contributions have been no less significant to our shooting and outdoors culture than that of our earlier icons that include the likes of Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton, and a host of others. That's a big statement to make but I'll stand behind it. Thanks for all the help John.
A few years ago I drove from Augusta Georgia by myself to Boise , three goals: watch my beloved Boise State Broncos, visit Elkhorn gun shop and meet Mr. Taffin . I accomplished all three. John was just like I expected, a consummate Gentleman and all around good Guy!!!
Mr. Taffin is truly a national treasure. I love everything he has written. I've never met him in person but have spoken to him on the phone. An expert on revolvers and PPP. Wish him all the best and pray God heals all his aches. I'm 62 and disabled so I can sympathize with him. Long life and God bless in this New Year.
I am so glad I didn't miss this video with John Taffin and Brian Pearce, two icons of the shooting world. I have four of Taffin's hard-back books so far. It's bad for me to get one of them because it flings a new craving on me for another .44 spcl or another .357 or .45. I'm glad John doesn't write cook books or I would probably weigh 300 pounds. John's books are like text books. They are HEAVY. They are printed on best quality paper and the pictures are the best reproduction quality I've seen. They're not cheap pulp paper gun books. They are the highest quality text book binding. I hope to have them all before I quit. I think John and I are within a couple of years of each other in age and health and he and Brian Pearce have both had a great influence on me. So, there you go, John and Brian, I'm blaming it all on you. 🤣🤣🤣
That is so funny! Isn't it great to have such a passion for Sixguns and cartridges! Thanks for the compliment and for taking the time to watch our channel.
Just fabulous Brian. Thank you. ... I've read John Taffin's 'Big Bore Sixguns,' and a countless number of his magazine articles. He's a legend. ... I've owned 5 .44 magnums, both single and double actions. Currently, I've settled on a S&W N frame Mountain revolver in .44 Magnum. It's a very fine packing revolver too I hard cast 250 gr Keiths for it. ... I climbed onto the .45 Colt bandwagon later in life. I own a Ruger SS Bisley Blackhawk 5½" in .45 Colt and .45 acp. My adult nephew shot mine, fell in love with it and bought one too. ... I haven't been able to cast bullets or handload for it yet, But I'm partial to heavy for caliber, hard cast, LBT shaped bullets. ... Brian, this video was particularly special to me, having grown up reading Elmer Keith, then carrying big bore sixguns all over Interior Alaska when I worked for State Forestry and hunted there.
Of all the great six gun writers an shooters,Elmer,Skeeter etc etc for me,i guess my generation its always been John Taffin and Brian Pierce writings that i favor the most From there handload knowledge and taste in steel and leather to there down to earth way of thinking and writing There teachings have helped make me a better person i thank them both for being themselves and great teachers I will keep John in my prays and try to carry on the lessons hes taught me to the next generation so he ll live forever
I am currently 400 pages into the book of the 44 and received the book of the 45 from my wife for Christmas. Heal well and God Bless JT and the Pearce family
Prayers for Mr. Taffin and family. I can't think of a more deserving person for a project such as this! A true legend and gentleman for this PPP! Get well soon, sir!
I have eead everything I could from Elmer Keith and Skeeter Skelton and John writing ranks right in the same skill abd his perfect packin pistol has always impressed me. I am still searching for My perfect packin rig.@PearceBrothersGearGuide
I posted a comment praising John and YT deleted it. Without posting. I hate coming up with postings just to have them not even post when they say they are UT you are missing off slot of people .Maybe we will get Lucky and have Elon put you out of business with a better format.
I ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO JOHN TAFFIN’S ARTICLES.HE WAS A BIG INFLUENCE ON MY LOVE FOR SINGLE ACTIONS.THANK YOU BRIAN FOR ALL OF YOUR INFORMATIVE VIDEOS AND STORIES.🇺🇸
Thank You for sharing this, and Thank You to the people that made this happen. A beautiful, well deserved tribute to Mr. Taffin. 2025 is looking good so far!
Wonderful video, thank you for this. I've been a fan for a long time, since I was a kid in the basement reading John's articles and later Brian's. My Dad surprised me on Christmas when i turned 14 with my first revolver, a lightlt used 7 1/2 inch Blackhawk in 45 Colt with the spare cylinder in the red box. Since then, I have looked forward to the in-depth info from John. A real legend. Best wishes to him and his family right now.
Thank you for the video it’s good to see John and the enjoyment he had receiving that fine Ruger sixgun. I have read his get articles ever since he started writing and thank you and your fine sons for all the good work you guys are doing.🇺🇸
Happy New Year Pearce Brothers! I have one of the Lipsey's .44 spl flattops, I absolutely love it, but then, I'm a big fan of the .44 Special. I like the SSA style grip, but detest the high hammer spur, so I modify Bisley hammers to work with the SSA grip frame. I also have an old model .357 Mag, I replaced the alloy grip frame with an Old Army steel grip frame as I like the additional weight, it balances better by making the gun less muzzle heavy. At one time, Clements Custom Guns was making Bisley hammers for the OM Blackhawk that was a drop in fit. That's when I became enamored with the SSA grip frame/bisley hammer combination, and what put me on the path to modify Ruger Bisley hammers to fit all of my NM Blackhawks. I'm going to be drooling until that new gun hits the market. Also, thank you very much for including the footage of John Taffin, I've been a long time fan of him.
I always enjoyed his articles. Especially when he wrote about his life, not just about guns. But of course, i liked the guns, too. Nice looking revolver .
Thats was a great video. Two Great good ol boys in the end. Thanks for continuing great work. Glad Ruger did something for a great man like Mr. Taffin. I like that company even more now.
Yes and thank you. But keep in mind, that gun would never have been made had it not been for Lipsey's Jason Cloessner. I've known Jason for more than 20 years and he is a true gentleman, a great family man and a genuine good guy! He really needs a hand of applause!
Mr Pearce I always enjoyed reading your articles in handloader magazine. Both you and Mr taffin are proudly carrying on Elmer's legacy. Thank you for the work yall do
I've read a lot of JT's articles and a couple of his books. Handloading helped me realize what a great gun my BH 45 is. That process was influenced by JT.. Great video!
Bought my only Blackhawk in 92'. A .45 Colt 7.5" full sized for possible hunting as John Linebaugh's writings proved it to be superior to the .44 Mag. Glade Taffin has also embraced the .45 Colt over the Magnum.
Great video Brian! Great to see John is doing well!! I have read and reread John’s articles as much as I have read and reread your articles. Thank you for sharing!!!
Brian, please check out the testing that has been done with Ivermectin as a treatment/augmentation to cancer treatment - it has had some very positive results - at least see if John's doctor could prescribe it for him. Certainly can't hurt. I hate to see our legends passing unnecessarily. thank you for sharing that special presentation with us.
John, his wife Dot and daughter will be reading your comment....I would be hesitant to get involved in their medical treatment choices. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching our channel.
Ivermectin is an amazing drug! The big Pharma doesn't like it because it works! But the majority of Pharmacies won't fill a prescription! They have been neutered by Big Pharma! You have to find a "Compounding Pharmacy".
I’ve enjoyed John Taffin’s writing for decades. And I love my Ruger single actions in .45 Colt, but I’ve never owned a convertible, and I don’t currently have a Beasley grip in the safe. I’m gonna have to get me one of these. It’s a classy tribute to a classy man. 😃
Thumbs up from Yukon Canada ! Can't buy the revolver now ,but will get some of John's books. Over the years I have read his articles in " Gun Digest " , all very good reads.
Enjoy your iron video…. I bought a new Ruger way back. The first Vaquero 45 colt. The big frame model not the new Vaquero Years ago I seen a brand new 44 magnum 5 1/2 inch barrel and four and three-quarter inch barrel 45. I bought the 45 with a smaller barrel. I wish I had the money to buy the 44 magnum version with the 5 1/2. It’s never let me down in a highball finish stainless with white Ruger grips I found it very accurate. I don’t think it was much heavier than my colt. I like the two cylinders though on this new Ruger 45 long colt and 45 ACP interchangeable. Me and my brother. Ordered brand new colts from the factory in the early 2000. I ordered mine 4 1/2 he ordered a 5 1/2. We told Colt to make us extra 45 ACP cylinder. They charged us $300 for extra cylinders 45 ACP. It’s nice to have an extra cylinder for different ammo. I carry my colt every day. I love five cylinder. It’s never let me down in the last 24 years. Take care keep the videos coming
Happy New Year you fellow shooters and hunters ! I think that is just amazing to a perfect packing pistol done for John Taffin ! Couldn’t have been better said ! I always enjoyed John’s writing and his fine books !
I've owned the same Ruger Bisley from Lipsey's for thirty years. Now they've rebranded it and added walnut grips? Well, OK then. I'm glad John Taffin approves. It is a nice packing gun.
This is the first time Ruger has offered the Bisley in 45 Colt on the medium frame, or 357 size flattop frame. This is new! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Great video. Love your knowledge and load data you put out Brian. John Taffin is also one of the great ones. Sending prayers. I have my dealer in Idaho and Oregon trying to get me one of these PPP’s. Love that it has the Bisley grip. It will go nicely with my other treasured revolvers by John Linebaugh. Gone too soon.
You will get your PPP....just might take a little while. And yes, John Linebaugh was another dear friend that left too soon! Thanks for your kind remarks and for watching our channel.
Happy New Year. I hope John and everyone else enjoys good health and prosperity in 2025. Cool Sixgun for sure👍. Fun to see presentation in John's home and hear him speak. Take care.🇺🇲🌲🔥🔪
John's books are hard to set down. This is a fitting tribute to him, and done at the right time, while he can appreciate it. Myself, I would rechamber that acp cylinder to auto rim.
Yes, I agree 100 percent on changing the headspace to accommodate the 45 Auto Rim. And for clarification to others, yes, you can still use .45 ACP cartridges, which is how .45 ACP revolvers were originally designed. Thanks for watching our channel.
I hope Mr Taffin recovers quickly and thanks for sharing. I have a lipsys special 45lc/45acp stainless with bisley grip . The Taffin model would a great addition.
Thanks for a great video! Seriously, thanks. That gun is definitely a keeper. I have all manner of single action revolvers, lots of those are Rugers. I want one of these. Very nice. I am also partial to the 44Spl. Probably my favorite cartridge.
hi from eastern idaho nice video about the new ruger and john nice to see him happy about the new gun hope he gets well to shoot it.i have the lipseys flat top they made in 2011 and your article from american handgunner your loads where a big help thanks
Great video! Perfect Packin' Pistol to Honor John and his work! The Bisley grip really reduces recoil for me. I loaded up some JHP 240 gr 1130 fps loads for my 5.5 inch 44 Flat Top standard grip. Recoil was lively. Shot in a Bisley model it had 1/2 the recoil. This new JT Model is all the sixgun you need, IMHO.
I think Tranter's smaller 5 shot 1879 double action revolvers are the Perfect Packing Pistol if there ever was one. Ruger's Redhawk 4.2" barrel chambered in 45 Colt would be my second choice.
Love your channel, hope you keep posting videos regularly. I would really like to encourage you to consider wearing shooting glasses, a family member lost his right eye years ago shooting a '17 Enfield when a case ruptured. He lost his safety glasses and shot anyway.
I just purchased a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in 44 Magnum. It has a 3.75" barrel and is a bisley grip gun. I love the feel of the grip and with the shorter barrel, I think it might have a little bit of muzzle flip. What do you reccomend for a good load for this gun?
Love john taffin he is skeeter/ elmer keith of my time. The door and most of walls of my loading room have 100s of taffins load wrote on them. Have to ask what is bobby got going on with uberti flat tops? Thank you for video.
Yes, John is one of the greats and a really good guy too! I have no idea about Bobby Tyler and the Uberti flat-tops.....maybe drop him an email and find out. Thanks for the comment and for watching our channel.
I tried to like the Ruger Bisley and even had a Bowen custom atnone point but the distance betwee the grip to triggerguard is too small. The Freedom Arms grip and BFR is the one if you have larger hands.
Happy New Year everyone! We hope you enjoy this video! John has made a huge impact on the Sixgun world and this is a great tribute gun to him. Enjoy the video and keep John in your prayers.

John is indeed one of our national treasures. Such a kind man, and generous with his information and experiences.
John is a character, but has integrity and honesty in his very core. Thanks for taking time to watch our channel.
All the best to John Taffin and his family.
All the best to you Brian and your family.
It is great to see someone like John recognized!
Thank you!

Glad to see Mr. Taffin being tributed with a great revolver.
It was definitely needed.
John is a living legend, and I'm proud to have been able to meet and talk with him a few times through the years.

Thank you for that information. I just picked up one of the 50th Anniversary .44 Mag Blackhawks. Grew up reading Johns articles in all the gun rags.

@PearceBrothersGearGuide Thank you too Brian. I learned from the very wisest elders of the tribe. We stand on the shoulders of giants.
I’ve read his books and articles in the magazines for years, but nice to finally hear his voice and I wish him recovery

Thank you for making these videos preserving six gun history
Sixguns have long been my passion.....and you are welcome.
Loved reading his articles and that concept of the perfect packing pistol. Glad to get to hear him.
So wonderful to see John Taffin get his tribute 45 Colt 45 ACP Perfect Packing Pistol. Bobby Tyler is a great man doing this along with Lipsey.
We are very happy Lispeys got this all coordinated with Ruger and Bobby Gunworks. The pistol turned out great!
I am currently 400 pages into the book of the 44 and received the book of the 45 from my wife for Christmas. Heal well and God Bless JT and the Pearce family
I've got to get my hands on these books to go with my Skeeter and Elmer books
Prayers for Mr. Taffin and family. I can't think of a more deserving person for a project such as this! A true legend and gentleman for this PPP! Get well soon, sir!

The visit with John was a beautiful thing. ❤
That's a nice thing you guys did for John. Enjoyed that.
Thank you!
Thanks for posting this Brian Pearce. And thanks to Lipsey’s for getting behind this project.
Thank you for the support!
Great video. Thanks. Wonderful to see Mr. Taffin and my prayers are with you.
Thanks for the kind words! We appreciate your prayers and your support.

I always enjoyed his articles. Especially when he wrote about his life, not just about guns. But of course, i liked the guns, too. Nice looking revolver .
A great vid. of two of the best in the six gun writers in the world get well soon John

He’s one of the legends up there right along with the best of not the best. I’m sure he and his family will enjoy the tribute pistol.
Mr Pearce I always enjoyed reading your articles in handloader magazine. Both you and Mr taffin are proudly carrying on Elmer's legacy. Thank you for the work yall do
Thank you for reading my articles and for the fine compliments. Thanks for watching!
@PearceBrothersGearGuide I must admit this video has me thinking about what would be the perfect packing pistol for my own needs.
Prayers for you Mr Taffin✝️🙏💪
I've read a lot of JT's articles and a couple of his books. Handloading helped me realize what a great gun my BH 45 is. That process was influenced by JT.. Great video!
Johns influence has been impressive! Thanks for watching our channel.
What a great tribute to a great man. Thank you Brian.!
Yes, I agree! And thanks for watching.

Perfect Fudding Blaster.
Rick Simpson oil is a great thing to look into also.
John, his wife Dot and daughter will be reading your comment....I would be hesitant to get involved in their medical treatment choices. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching our channel.
@@PearceBrothersGearGuide Completely understandable. I just wanted them to have the visibility to that and be able to do their own research.
Ivermectin is an amazing drug! The big Pharma doesn't like it because it works! But the majority of Pharmacies won't fill a prescription! They have been neutered by Big Pharma! You have to find a "Compounding Pharmacy".
In years past, I always had to have chamber throats opened up on Ruger .45 Colts. You just made my day. Time to order a pair !! Thanks!
The history of chamber throats in Ruger sixguns chambered in .45 Colt is a story within itself! Thanks for watching.
Thank you John, prayers up for you. My wife is taking chemo right now as well. In a few weeks she starts radiation.
We are sending all our best wishes to your wife as well. Thanks for watching!
Great video!! I too share the passion for fine sixguns. Prayers for John’s recovery
Thanks for the comment and for taking time to read our channel.
Yes, I agree!
A really wonderful video to start out the New Year 2925. Reminds me of what a great bunch of people we have in America.
I bought one of those new flat top Rugers in a 44 special from Lipsey and I like it really well I put a a power customs hammer and trigger in it
Thumbs up from Yukon Canada ! Can't buy the revolver now ,but will get some of John's books. Over the years I have read his articles in " Gun Digest " , all very good reads.
Glad you enjoyed the video! You'll enjoy his books, he had such a huge impact on the sixgun world!
Thank you Sir for this video! Taffin has been a hero for a while!
Very welcome
Awesome! I can't wait to get my hands on one. Hope John is doing well.
Thanks for watching!
I especially liked that you chose the Bisley grip frame style.
I have a New Model Bisley in 44 special and LOVE it.
The Bisley is a great grip. Makes a single action very shootable.
My perfect packing pistol:
Freedom Arms 97 - 45 Colt w/5.5” octagon barrel.
That was a nice surprise to start the year. Boy, perfect packin pistol I reckon. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this. Great man and a worthy gun
Yes, I agree. And thanks for taking the time to watch our channel.
Happy New Year you fellow shooters and hunters !
I think that is just amazing to a perfect packing pistol done for John Taffin ! Couldn’t have been better said !
I always enjoyed John’s writing and his fine books !
Happy New Year to you too! John was a great writer and a true gentleman.
Just got his book on the .44 caliber for Christmas
Great read and information
Now that's a great present! I'm glad you are enjoying it. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful gun, love the grips!!!
They are very well done. Tyler Gunworks does some great work!
Happy New Year. I hope John and everyone else enjoys good health and prosperity in 2025. Cool Sixgun for sure👍. Fun to see presentation in John's home and hear him speak. Take care.🇺🇲🌲🔥🔪
Thank you, we appreciate the support!
Got my blk hawk last year 45 colt love it. Full house load is a hand full with H110. Will be trying to take a deer in 2025 👍
An absolute must have! What an excellent revolver!
Ruger and Lipseys really nailed this one!
Mr. Taffin's article on the 10mm Magnum is a good read.
Great To see JT! thank you for sharing this sir.
He was great to have on video. Such a blessing to spend time with him.
John's books are hard to set down. This is a fitting tribute to him, and done at the right time, while he can appreciate it. Myself, I would rechamber that acp cylinder to auto rim.

I hope Mr Taffin recovers quickly and thanks for sharing. I have a lipsys special 45lc/45acp stainless with bisley grip . The Taffin model would a great addition.
Thank you!
Can't wait to get my hands on one.
Thanks for a great video! Seriously, thanks. That gun is definitely a keeper. I have all manner of single action revolvers, lots of those are Rugers. I want one of these. Very nice. I am also partial to the 44Spl. Probably my favorite cartridge.
Great looking gun. Happy New Year to all. Prayers go out for John.
Happy New Year, and thanks for watching!
I really like these educational videos you guys do👍
Thanks for watching!
hi from eastern idaho nice video about the new ruger and john nice to see him happy about the new gun hope he gets well to shoot it.i have the lipseys flat top they made in 2011 and your article from american handgunner your loads where a big help thanks
wrong magazine it was handloader mag 2011
Hello and thank you for watching! Glad those articles have come in handy!
Very nice sixgun! I need to pick one up
That's a good idea!
The Bisley does make a huge difference in recoil.
I have the flattop in 44 Special..but my main carry gun in the woods is my NM Blackhawk in 41 Magnum.
Both of those are great calibers! You have good taste. Thanks for watching.
When is Brian going to write some Books?! Love your articles and online info
That's a good question! I really, really hope to someday. But right now life is just a little too busy. Thanks for the comment.
Good to see John doing better. I hope for all to have a Happy New Year. Wonderful piece. Look good with my flat top 357
Thanks! I hope you have a Happy New Year too!
I think Tranter's smaller 5 shot 1879 double action revolvers are the Perfect Packing Pistol if there ever was one. Ruger's Redhawk 4.2" barrel chambered in 45 Colt would be my second choice.
I have a three screw Blackhawk, great revolver!
They are great pistols.
Great to see the MAN
NICE! Buuuuut, how much?!!! I love that holster style! I Always liked John Wayne's holster! I like the trigger guard above the holster rim!
The price is reasonable. Contact Lipsey's and your local FFL dealer to arrange a purchase. Thanks for watching.
I bought a 50th anniversary 2005 Blackhawk in 44 magnum, it was a tank and super accurate.
They really are great guns, the 44 Magnum is a beast!
Beautiful gun , thanks for sharing. Happy New Year 🇺🇸
Your videos keep getting better and better, great videos in a sea of garbage. Please keep making them.
Thank you! I appreciate that. And thank you for watching!
Love your channel, hope you keep posting videos regularly. I would really like to encourage you to consider wearing shooting glasses, a family member lost his right eye years ago shooting a '17 Enfield when a case ruptured. He lost his safety glasses and shot anyway.
Great video Brian. Good Luck to John.
Thank you!!!?
John Taffin was one of my favorite writers. By the the way me and my uncle have the exact same shirt you are wearing.
You've got great taste in shirts!
Fantastic video!
Thank you for watching!
Great video love that Ruger
Take my money!
Many Thanks !
You are welcome!
John is on of my hero! How is Diamond Dot?
Dot is Dot. She is great and doing well!
🎉Happy New Year!🎉
Happy New Year to you too!
Beautiful work
Thanks for watching!
I heard Flat Top Ubertis..... tell me more Bobby!
I tried to like the Ruger Bisley and even had a Bowen custom atnone point but the distance betwee the grip to triggerguard is too small. The Freedom Arms grip and BFR is the one if you have larger hands.
