All the pulls were gorgeous ❤ Since following you I use medical exam paper a lot and can use a roll in a few days 😅. But i keep all thr small bits to use fir even dots or squiggles, squares or odd pieces like you made with the pretty word stencil. No tiny piece gets wasted by me 😁
Your knowledge of what colors to use to get what you are after is awesome! I always have to do it three or four times to get what is in my head. Oh no just saw the sketch paper failure. I have used gel medium or fluid to lift off difficult areas! Takes longer to dry but it saves it.
Thank you, Joyce - some days the colors come more easily than others. You are right, using other mediums will usually lift the remaining paper, but when I'm filming I usually don't have the time to wait. 🥰
I really enjoyed seeing your oyster and the papers being made for something specific. Showing where in the oyster you might use the different prints was very interesting.
Always so much fun to watch and learn from you. I have gotten away from any of my rice papers because I prefer the bamboo over it. If you have not had an opportunity to try it, it's definitely worth it. Oh also have you thought to try a small drill bit by hand to unclog the lids of your paint? I've done that with all types of things that clog up. If you happen to have a pin vice, it will hold a very thin drill bit ....Thanks as always for all you do.
Paula, thank you! I had not thought about using a drill bit, but that is an interesting idea. Next time I'm at the hardware store I'll pick up a pin vice! 🥰
I'm overjoyed watching this video, Jackie! Nothing is more fun than Gelli printing, am I right?!?! And watching your expressions is a close 2nd enjoyment!! All of the pulls were fantastic! One idea about your paint bottle lid situation, I'd bet if you reach out to Golden and ask them to send you new lids for your bottles they would be happy to accommodate you! Especially when you tell them you've hit 1 million views! Whoo Who! xoxoxo D
That last print with the glistening pearl just sang. I do hope it can be used in your collage. What an amazing array of textures and colors. Cant wait to see you piece it together and trial different ways of creating what you feel you want. Im waiting by. Jo😊
13:47 WoW!! Too many prints that are amazing to timestamp - it'd be most of the video! Loads of tips and techniques which are great, thank you 🎉🎉 I love when I get a notification that you have posted a video, but when I see you are using the gel plate, I'm extra excited!! 🩵🖤🤍
I really hope so Jeannie - I'm having a hard time figuring out where to do it! Not only does the wall (or floor space have to be large), but to film it the room has to be large so the camera placement is far enough to capture the entire piece being worked on. I'm certain I'll figure it out, but it's a real challenge. 🥰
Jackie you are so fun to watch and to listen to. Thank you so much for your joy and enthusiasm. I cannot find your supply list for this video. I would love to find that large alphabet you used.
Using holiday days and even to catch up on your videos. Do you always use fluid acry!ics and are they "open"? And it goes without saying Thank you for all you give us.
Hi Bella! I'm so happy we got to spend some time together over the holidays 😀. I usually use fluid or soft body acrylics. I have not used the "open" paints yet, although I am sure I'll be getting some for the giant oyster project. Thank you for being here. 🥰
How do you decide on which color to use? The physics of gelli printing, especially the layers, is baffling to me. Love your art work and your enthusiasm - it is inspiring.💛
I love that, Tango, and you are absolutely right - the physics of gel printing can be baffling. Some here likened it to a pineapple upside down cake - and she's right! As for what colors I choose, most of it is based on intuition (not helpful, I know), and years of playing with colors and color combinations. I haven't talked a lot about color on this channel, so maybe I need to in 2025! 🥰

I had the same thing happen the first time I used rice paper and I almost gave up before I even got started. The adjustment I made moving forward, was to never leave it on the plate for long. Haven't had one tear again after that ... except once, when I, again, left it on for a smidge too long. 😢
@PaintedPaperStudio That is very true. And, as many videos as there are now on how to use all the different papers, trial and error really is the best way to learn for yourself. Frustrating as it can be. 😭 🤷🏼♀️
Hi Gidge! The series that I'm doing right now is a study on how I hope to do the 6' painting you can see all the videos in the series here: ua-cam.com/play/PLgIXaAju7by1v94SnZpL8sA-oGfySaBVX.html
Hi Lynette - I'm not sure which script stencil you mean. If you could let me know what time in the video I talk about it, that would be helpful - although this video only came out 6 or 7 weeks ago, I just can't remember what I said 🥰
I have found when I use that same rice paper if I leave it on the plate too long it always does that. I find I have to pull it up shortly after laying it down to not have that happen. I think that was what might have happened to yours. I could be wrong, but that has been my experience.
The rice paper has a right and wrong side. The side facing up when you open the cover is the side to print on. Also, it soaks up paint quickly so doesn't need to sit as long. I've had this happen to me as well...not fun.
Hi Tracie, you are correct -there is a "right side" with rice paper, and I used that, but I really think the problem was that I left it on too long. And you're right - it's not fun when it happens. 🥰
@@PaintedPaperStudio I was thinking about this again last night so I went back to watch your video again. I noticed that the rice paper had been left for quite a long time on your plate, so the paint had probably had time to soak into the inner fibres of the paper, which would mean that it would also require a lot more time to dry. This has happened to me in the past with thicker water colour papers. I am getting problems with tearing these days because of another issue: I bought some of my gel plates from a company that was a little less expensive than Gelli Arts. They were fine for the first 2 years or so, but now they are starting to "disintegrate" and get very sticky and it's hard to pull off the paper without it tearing. I wrote to the manufacturer enquiring about this, but I never got a reply.

I've been having horrible pills with this rice paper...bad batch? I bought from Joggles and wonder if something is up with the supplier. Never happened to me before.
I'm so sorry you're having the "pill" problem - it's so frustrating. I don't think my problem was paper related - I think it was user error - I may have left it too long (but not long enough) on the plate. *sigh* I don't mind learning new things, but I hate it when the "learning" happens on film 😂 🥰
