  • Check out this uncut video of us setting up the YOBO hammock stand, hammock, and tarp in windy conditions. We set up the YOBO hammock stand crossways to the wind to show that our hammock stand can stand up to even the most difficult conditions. The YOBO hammock stand’s fiberglass poles and solid milled aluminum top ring ensure that the stand is able to provide support in a wide range of weather conditions, ensuring that you will never be let down when you need it most. Let me first say WOW. One can say this was a hammock enthusiast hardcore video. Flash back to North Dakota! The wind, the hard/frozen ground and I imagine the low temperatures made this demo of the YOBO Stand special. Although I personally would not camp under these circumstances unless it was an emergency situation. The fact your equipment was minimal in size and weight yet appearing to provide sufficient weight bearing capability peaked my interest for this product. I believe you solve the question what if there were no trees?
If I would make any changes to your setup it would be with the size of the tarp used (it did not properly shield you from the wind but it's was a demo). I question having to carry a tape measure for accommodating the tarp size. Someone in the comment section asked about using the YOBO Stand with different ground surfaces. What would you use in sandy soil? Thank again for the chilling video.

In those conditions I wouldn't want to be under a tree.

I've never had much luck with fiberglass poles in deep freeze weather. They splintered, even in outdoor storage. Spring time and the poles were a shattered mess under simple shock cord tension.

Our stands are made of high quality aluminum! Never fiberglass!

Pretty good considering the weather, what’s the weight of the pole system?

nice system, how much is this and where can I buy one. Is it compact enough to carry it on a motorcycle?

Interesting concept, but the wind showed its instability

Kemp Arrendale instability? The guy is crazy. It’s very stable.

I'd agree, the wind did show the instability of the setup. Having just one guy line from the A-frames is a mistake and makes the frames pivot around their legs. I've added two more guy lines to each of my stands to stop them wanting to pivot - works a charm. This is a great portable hammock stand for camping, especially adding those extra guy lines

The instability comes from the hammock. The hammock is the only thing holding the two frames together so without anyone in it it's unstable. Perfectly stable while you're actually in the hammock though.

FYI these, well version 2 anyway, are now for sale again. Though it looks like it'll be quite a while before they're actually going to be shipping.
