    YES!!!!!!! Canadian sports are back on tv! Who needs the NHL. We have down river mushroom racing. Please do this every Saturday night. All you need is a catchy theme song that's easy to whistle.

    Great piece of literature that Erin is reading! Hatchet is one of the all time greats! Also, those hammocks are slick! Scandinavian products are definitely elite. Did the ancestry kit for Christmas last year and found out my wife and I are both primarily Scandinavian. We are now both really wanting to make a trip over there!

      It's a classic read! That's awesome...one more reason to go. Erin also has roots there. All my vacation is dedicated to paddling but I would love to go there when I have more free time...so retirement I guess lol.

Looks like you have the latest update (I got the original XL when they first released it) I am curious to see if the bug netting is any better, yours should be grey I think, originals like mine are white mesh... works fine for bugs of course but visibility sucks and god forbid you turn on your headlamp inside the hammock at night and blind yourself!

    Next time you guys go out with your Amoks, I know your like 6’4 can you lay in the smaller one? Just curious because I’m right at 6’ and want to know if I end up buying one what I should do. Thanks!

      Great idea, I'd like to test that myself. Will have to remember to try that :) The regular size is supposed to be good for up to 6'1", but I might err on the side of big.

    What a little piece of heaven you’s found there. Those hammocks were friggin amazing. They looked so comfortable. Just amazing shots of the river and ice and great competition on the river. Always the best with you’s. Thank you so much.🥰

    Just found your channel a couple weeks ago and simply love it. Living in central Iowa, I’m about 7 hrs south of the MN boundary waters. It’s on my bucket list now. After watching your vids with the AMOK I think I’ve decided to get one. Do you still recommend? While the whole set up is spendy, it sure looks like you guys have enjoyed it and it’s comfortable. I will however, use a different tarp. I saw yours leaked a bit durning the heavy rain. Keep up the great adventures.

    • @LostLakes
      @LostLakes  3 роки тому

      Thanks a bunch Travis!! It's my favourite shelter, excellent quality...definitely recommend. Yeah the tarp is sweet aside from that issue which the seam sealer solved easily. Though a larger one it nice too sometimes

      LOL only $250 which includes the suspension and bug net 😜 You can use your own tarp or they have a very nice custom one for it. Cheers to that Pete 🍻

    Doug Ford's latest policy of "no camping on crown land during state of emergency", is hopefully going to be re considered so you can continue to create great content.....if it does'nt end soon, I wouldn't document your adventures for a while.

    • @LostLakes
      @LostLakes  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah man I was gutted by that news. Going to abide by it even though it makes no sense here. I can camp locally, without going through any other town, very easily and safely. What they should've said is no regional travel...if a CO finds you, they ask for ID and see where you're from. Just put a big fine on that instead of banning it for all.

    • @simonlawson2772
      @simonlawson2772 4 роки тому

      @@LostLakes agreed. Blanket policies like these have the best intentions in populated areas like Toronto where the policies are developed, but in areas like where you are and myself as well, where crown land is abundant and largely unused, it makes absolutely no sense. Be safe.

      Thanks Anders :) I've never used it myself but when I camp in the cold I use a closed cell foam pad, a sheet of Reflectix, and the Amok Winterlight, along with a -20C down bag. I'll use that down to -15C but any colder than that I'd rather camp in the hot tent with a stove

    I’m still skeptics about these hammocks. My thoughts: Looks awesome, super comfy, and functional. In comparison to a typical hammock, I am not seeing a great advantage. The simplicity of a hammock is a big seller for me. Kinda like a canoe, nothing to it so nothing can go wrong. I will let you be the guinea pig with this one and in a couple years, if you’re still in love with it and it’s on your Amazon shop, maybe I’ll pick one up. Knowing it’s not some cheap made in China crap is reassuring.
    Wishing you and Erin all the best through this. Hopefully we get some spring tripping in soon.

    • @LostLakes
      @LostLakes  4 роки тому

      Just curious, in what way do you find traditional hammocks simpler? Seems equally simple to me (just perpendicular to the ridgeline rather than in-line), except of course for the need for a sleeping mat. But the sleeping mat enables side and stomach sleeping and extends the temperature range especially with an r-value 5 pad like this. Also the strap system is genius and will make setup WAY faster and easier than the ropes I used to use. Thanks Rob, wishing the same for you! Hoping against hope that we can camp for May long.

    • @paddlehooked4687
      @paddlehooked4687 4 роки тому

      Backcountry Angling Ontario traditional hammocks are about as basic as a canoe and not much can go wrong. The Amok seems to have lots of buckles, adjustments etc, feel like if one buckle bends, breaks, jams etc then you may end up sleeping on a funny angle unable to adjust it. For example, my ice hut has some buckles that don’t tighten anymore and need to be replaced, could be an issue on a trip. I might also just be over thinking it, Amok hammocks are sweet AF by the looks of things lol. Your old system seemed overly complicated. I upgraded a lot of my hammock hardware this winter to make it simpler and lighter.

    Great to see you outdoors during this crisis.im hiking the PCT and and they’re telling us to get off to go home to populated areas where we would have more exposure to the virus. Point in case, had I gone home, I would have been exposed to the virus like my family has been. Now they’re all quarantined. Have fun and enjoy nature’s beauty like I’m doing.

      Sorry to hear that Jerry....I hope you guys are doing ok. Totally hear you, it's frustrating. Camping is completely banned in Ontario now. A safe, easy outing like this with maximum social distancing is forbidden but you can mill about in Walmart and touch everything.
