    Marines are probably the most self sufficient and uniquely American fighting force with pilots, ground forces with the Navy, special operations, and now on par with and beyond the area of the Coast Guard. At least in my limited learning. Always amazes me! What makes a Marine unique in purpose and operation. Glad for more highlights on various military units beyond what we know popularly.

    Great Course and Instructors...went through in '90. I love the water but there were times when I was hating life!

      one more thing, paratrooping. as for as this. I am always wondering if this is optional.. let's say I wanted to be part of the "marines force recon team." (special operations) if I were in an elite team like that, would paratrooping still be opitonal?

    The tattoos these Marines have are grandfathered in, meaning they had them before the policy change.

      Yet you constantly complain about retention. Your tattoo policy was garbage. Glad it finally changed. Took way too long. Catch up Marine Corps.

      That's not entirely true, some need to be trained or else they die and it has happened.

    "Underwater swim." One breath. Full gear pockets open, flack sack, Rifle, Helmet. If you can make it to the edge you can take everything off. This was the wide side and not the 25 Meter or 50 meter side. I just sung scooby scooby doo, where are you 3 times. Bang head hit the wall. The instructors told me my hair was too long. On a Navy base, LOL.

    I have a question,
    Let's say someone is struggling with swimming, sinking, and self defense and that person also doesn't feel comfortable getting in the water? Will they still earn the title? Could they still remain a marine?

    • @davehenry6160
      @davehenry6160 8 років тому +5

      +Anoziah, There is usually a screening test before you go to the course. you have to pass all of the tests, events...otherwise you don't earn the MOS 8563. Not passing the course does not impact your career. Training Marines in Water Survival were some of the best times in my career.

    • @uhozzvy6930
      @uhozzvy6930 8 років тому

      Dave Henry , if someone does not pass the test, and does not know how to swim, can they still go on with training or remain to go home?
