Glad you enjoyed trying out the new lenses! We're excited to see them in the hands of all those E-mount and L-mount shooters out there. :)

@@TheHeartofuae Send someone who can beat the laws of physics over to Sigma then ;) Wide and fast for full frame simply can not be small and lightweight... That being said, if you can live with 2.8 and plastic body, check out the Samyang 24, it is quite good, although not as sharp as the Sigma.

Thank you for your video - I was really betwixt and between in getting a less bulky lens for walking around. I wanted a 35 to 40 mm lens and had handled this in a shop and really liked it. Friends kept suggesting others, both more expensive and less. Your night shots with the Sigma 35 f2.0 did it for me.

Thank you for the excellent first review of these new lenses. It is very heartening to see both Sigma and Panasonic Lumix releasing more affordable lenses in L mount format. I bought a used Leica SL to try out, as I was starting to have trouble focussing manually on my M2, M6, M9 and M(240) cameras, and absolutely love the SL. So far I have only been using my manual focus M mount lenses on the SL, but I think this defeats the point a bit! The Leica lenses and Sigma Art lenses are so big and heavy, so I think it is now time to sell the M mount cameras and lenses and buy into the smaller and more affordable Panasonic and Sigma L mount lenses.

Thanks for this review . In 2024 I'm torn between two Sigma DG DN 35 mm lenses for the L mount.
    The f 1.4 and this f 2.

I bought this series for my Leica SL as well but it’s not lenses that you reviewed. I bought Sigma 20mm f2 I really like it

Sigma created a great lens with this design. All metal, a real Aperture ring, but no depth of field scale. They were so close. I think the old manual focus Nikkor 24mm and 28mm were a landscape photographer's greatest tools. A glance at the depth of field scale and you knew that flower 3 feet from your lens and the distant mountain were all in focus. We need a lens like that specifically for the digital landscape photographer. Also isn't that depth of field scale on the Leica Q2 just wonderful? Hmm.

Very solid lenses. Wouldn’t mind having either for my SL2. I think the 65mm is interesting, the time lapse makes it seem particularly useful for landscape style shots.

Great review! I'm grabbing one for my new Leica SL2-S. The backlit sensor on the camera is a low light beast so F2 should be great. Love shooting in Flagstaff!

Thanks! I have the 35 f/1.2 for my a9/a7r3 but didn't want to buy a straight duplicate for my SL2; 93% likely to get that 35 f/2! (I do have the 45 f/2.8 already and am pleased with it.)

Curious to know how the 65mm performs compared to the APO LANTHAR by CV

Definitely complementary to the Leica cameras. + I agree about the focal lengths being friendly across FF and APS-C.

Regarding usability, is the aperture ring mechanical or electric? How is the focus ring? Mechanical or electric? If so is it progressive? Does the focus ring have hard stops? Can you change focus and aperture on the lens when you have it in your hands, not connected to the camera?

@@tamilhoward9708 it is slow. One I might want limited depth of field or I want to shot at the cameras base ISO. Raising ISO always increases noise.
