    Okay where to start?
I will try to keep this short.
1)if you are new to chainsaws do not buy a used saw or a clone saw unless you can tinker and do a proper inspection before you ever pull the recoil!
2)the reasons for this are many-I have an Echo CS 5500 on my bench right now that although the pot/piston are beautiful it had a teaspoon of powdered rust from the muffler inside the exhaust port. Attempting to start this saw right off would likely have resulted in a destroyed classic.
I also have saws (a Pioneer 1074 comes to mind) that were so jam packed with crud that someone previous to me destroyed the internals of the recoil trying to start it before inspection.
3)the sprocket doesn't care what gauge chain you have, it cares about the pitch. If you have a .325 sprocket you can run .050/.058/063-it doesn't care. Your bar does care about gauge, that's what matters.
4)you didn't say anything about this but if a seller says "runs on starter fluid" DO NOT PAY GOOD MONEY for the saw. There is a good chance it is nothing but spare parts now.
5)do not buy a vintage chainsaw thinking it is going to be your full time firewood saw unless you have all the spare parts you will need for the life of the saw. Too many channels claim this is the way to go and many of them actually have saws that they display that are in dire need of work but they mostly know how to hide this from the viewer.
Oh, the 550 and 545 Husqvarna saws are not the same chassis! They are pretty different in reality, same as the 555 and 562.
At the end of the day the best advice for a new saw owner is buy new and buy OEM! I hate to say that and I love my classics but it is the best advice any of us can offer.
Please understand, I am not trying to be inflammatory here but text can not convey tone.
    You have good content.

@@turtlewolfpack6061 I agree with most of what you say here. It was very cold and I did mis speak on a few points. How ever I did say I had a video on buying a used saw. It explains how to inspect a used saw. I will try to link that video late. I seen a CS 5500 come up on marketplace but I was working and it was already sold by the weekend. Thanks for watching and the feedback

@oakeymt.outdoors I kind of figured the cold had cooked your head a bit, I know the feeling! 48 hours ago it was -30 Celcius here, then rose to +5 the next day and is now -14 and snowing.
No fun at all. I will go and search up that video!
Old Echo saws can be a real pain to source parts for unlike an XL12 Homelite (of any generation) or even a McCulloch 10 series. They are awesome saws though and very well engineered. This one is a buddies he wanted me to clean up and source the chain brake parts (someone removed them) for, so far they are unobtanium! My only current Echo is a John Deere 55V, one of the last that has a chain brake.

Good advice for sure. I take my Huskys clutches off same way! No need to buy the expensive tool!

A sprocket is pitch specific but not gauge. A 3/8 pitch sprocket can run all gauges like .050, .058 and .063. The bar is pitch and gauge specific.
