    An an owner of a 981 GT4 I was interested in your comments and comparison with 718 . For many people a major difference between the 981 and 718 is the latter's more muted exhaust note, due to the particulate filter installed in many countries. Did you find that an issue? The rawness for me is part of the positive character of the vehicle. If you want something smooth then dont buy a GT car. The GT car will talk to you. Now that I have a GT4RS on order my GT4 981 is proving itself to be better and better, and at close to 40,000 kms the car has loosened up and behaves superbly. Now I have buyer regrets as I can't keep two cars. It is a privilege to drive any Porsche.

      I will need to drive the two back to back to have a more definitive answer. I’m not sure if the US 718 GT4 has the same particulate filter problem as in Europe

    So glad I prefer the 981 with how much of a price gap there is between it and the 718. I think the 981 will go down as the more special car due to the rawness and sound. Perfect car would be 981 Chassis with 718s 4.0L. Both are awesome though! Dream garage is a 981 GT4 and a 997/991.2 GT3. Awesome vid. Thanks for all these reviews!

    Best bang for the buck car in today's market. Albeit with with ridiculous gearing and could use a touch more power.
    Doesn't draw too much attention.

    Also if anyone is actually considering buying one of these or a 718. Look into the Sharkwerks or Deman gear sets. Fixes pretty much the only problem. Headers and exhaust if you want a little more power/noise too.

    Nicde review, how would you compare an m2 or 718 gts?

      Never driven M2. 718 GTS (not 4.0) had three major differences I can recall. First, engine. Second, transmission had lots of lateral play when in gear which I didn’t like, felt loose and somewhat sloppy. Third, suspension was not as stiff.

    Great review. If you owned a 981 GT4 and had an Emira on order, would you swap out of the GT4 to get in the Emira?

    do you have any advice/feedback for someone shopping across caymans and 911s?
    in particular: the 987.2 base vs 981.1 base vs 997.2 carrera vs 991.1 carrera, with 987/981 in manual only, and 997/991 in either manual or PDK (whichever transmission is cheaper).
    they're all in the ~25k to ~45k range depending on miles/condition/age, maybe ~50k for a good one.
    just looking for a spirited, rewarding, joy to drive, engaging driver's car for the twisties/canyon/scenic roads.
    i find "driving a slow car fast" to be heck of a lot more fun than having to "drive a fast car slow."
    it will not be a commuter car, nor a daily, nor a track day car.
    practicality, passenger hauling, cargo capacity will be non-issue, as i have larger boring cars for that.

      I haven’t driven 991 yet so cannot comment on that. I personally prefer cayman chassis with MR layout. I think 981 was a balanced generation too with regards to raw vs polish.
      The way cayman feels an extension of you is more enjoyable IMO compared to RR with 997 generation

      @@jubbalandcars thanks. did you find the 981's EPS to be sufficient in terms of steering feedback, that it makes the refinements worth it over the 987.2?
      it seems like some people love the hydraulic power steering, and other people are saying the difference isn't as big as they make it out to be.
