  • Mid mounted high revving NA 6 cylinder? Check. Light weight? Check. Steering feel and manual shifter of the Gods? Check. Been waiting to drive the Cayman GT4 for a long, long time. Conclusion? Porsche might as well call this the NA3 NSX.

    If you’ve driven an S2000 or NSX and still think the title is silly then fair enough. If you haven’t then please do. There’s nothing under $100k I’d trade my S2000 for. Over $100k this Cayman is their first thing I’d drive. Great review and thanks to the owner for sharing your car with us.

      Michael Cohen I think it's silly only because hasn't built a RWD vehicle for so long. The S2000 is so long ago. All they do hybrids, not fwd sports cars

      Fully agree with this. Currently weighing the option of supercharging the S2k or getting a Gt4. I think the former will hold me over for a bit, but in the end, probably will still get a GT4. Will have to see what happens with the 718 GT4.

      So you wouldn’t trade in your S2k for an M2/4cs, ZL1 1LE, corvette, gt350, etc?

    The owner actually takes his Porsche to the track..legit. Porsche GT cars were born for the track. However most GT owners would just store their cars away for collectibility rather than track it.

    This is what the new NSX should like. And this is why a lot NSX owners changed to this car instead of the 2nd gen nsx. PURE, RAW, NA, HIGH REV, MANUAL.

    • @FreestylerAlbert
      @FreestylerAlbert 6 років тому +4

      I care only about 1 thing. and these are "feelings" and "emotions". Noone cares about the 0-62 or top speed. This is why the old nsx is a beast and the new one is kinda fail.

    • @doctorferdinand1003
      @doctorferdinand1003 6 років тому

      Honda can be very stubborn about responding to obvious market forces. No one wanted the NSX to be a new R8 and now NSX's are sitting on dealer lots. It doesn't seem to matter how many potential customers ask them to release a GT3 variant.

    • @FreestylerAlbert
      @FreestylerAlbert 6 років тому

      5 NSX was sold in April... 5. (USA). From 180k + now you can get them for 110k.

    • @electricfeel9501
      @electricfeel9501 6 років тому

      the new NSX is just too expensive period. you'd have to be rich to own one. not only that it's still just a Honda. at that price tag there are limitless other options.

    • @doctorferdinand1003
      @doctorferdinand1003 6 років тому +4

      The NSX may be better than the R8, what I mean is they fulfill the same niche by being cars with similar missions at a similar price point. I don't meant to be rude but claiming the NSX is a 918 fighter, or a hypercar of any sort is a bit silly.
      I would agree that people are unnecessarily harsh on the NSX, it's good at what it's trying to do. But it's not the car that people wanted from Honda. People didn't want a 4,000 pound luxury exotic AWD hybrid with brake by wire. If they ever get around to making a GT3 variant I'm sure it would do a lot better, but Honda seems pretty committed to ignoring market demand now.

    I have a 2016 GT4 and previously owned a second generation S2000. You can't compare these two cars. The S2000 was a great car however the GT4 is an excellent car. The S2000 was extremely load on the highway and the ass end would come out easily. Anyway you can't please everybody. Carry on.

    Having owned 3 new S2000’s over the years starting with a 2000 model year as well as 2 NSX’s (1991, 1995) I honestly don’t understand the title. Nothing about either an S2000 or NSX is comparable to this car. It is so much more focused and motorsport feeling than either of those cars. I currently have a GT4 and had a chance to get behind the wheel of a friends bone stock 32k mile example and forgot how numb/slow/heavy the steering is...not to mention how much understeer and body roll it has. I still think it’s a great car and I have never tired of its VTEC growl but at the prices that used/nice examples are selling for currently you def made the right decision.

    This is undoubtedly one of the best sports cars in recent years. But, I can't help but notice just how many are for sale at any given moment. And, yet, they've lost almost no value from new. Porsche has hypnotized enthusiasts to the point where they just throw money at them.

    Depending on how Porsche curates their lineup in future years, I think these are either going to become serious collector cars ...OR they're going to be the track-addict bargain of the century in about 10 years. I've penciled them in for the latter optimistically, and will watch accordingly :)

    had an s2000, and drove a gt4 on track. never drove an nsx. the gt4 is better than the cayman s and gts in significant ways. the manual transmission is better, shorter/more direct/selfcentering, and the brake pedal is solid. there's no excuse for porsche to not improve the regular cayman with those two upgrades. the gt4 handling has a wobbly feeling before the chassis fully loads, which i didn't like, but there is a lot of grip. the engine sound was better than a regular cayman, but not all it could be. i could put my foot to the floor with no wiggle from the rear end, which was disappointing. felt like the car was being regulated by computers, but it was probably just the tall gears preventing any playfulness. steering feel was pretty good, you could feel the front wheels undertseer, which is important. having said that, i just keep thinking that the 911 GT3 would just be more direct and raw for a similar price. I also imagine that the nsx has a better gearbox ( i really want to try that gearbox), a better induction noise, and more accessible handling, which in the end would make it a better road car. it also looks more special, and is built with a more special structure and oozes history. i think the nsx fixed a lot of the mistakes that porsche still makes today with its normal cars. want to try an nsx next. ultimately want a gt3. if those dont satisfy, i give up and will go karting.

    Hondas are cheap, reliable and popular (especially when you include Honda motor bikes). I hardly see any Porsches around in the neighborhood in the Sydney western suburbs. Why? Because the Germans can't price them to the same level as say a Honda Civic Type R or Honda Civic RS. • @veganpotterthevegan
      @veganpotterthevegan 6 років тому

      Allen Sales Not even close in terms of performance. I had a Honda Odyssey minivan with a V6. That's not comparable to a front engine, 6 cylinder Porshe. The NSX of old isn't a very good performance car relative to cars of today. A Porshe from 1995 is still a pretty great track car. While these two cars are both mid-engine, the balance isn't the same. The NSX was very back heavy. A 911 is more back heavy but makes up for it with downforce up front

    • @allensales5534
      @allensales5534 6 років тому +2

      I own the GT4 in this video and i've driven multiple NSX's. Some stock and many modified. They are more alike than you realize. You just compared a Minivan to a Porsche? You are also comparing a Flat 6 Mid-Engine 2 seater Cayman to a Front Engine V8 Coupe in the RC-F. That doesn't make any sense.

    • @veganpotterthevegan
      @veganpotterthevegan 6 років тому +1

      Allen Sales never driven at GT4 but I've driven the original Cayman and an NSX. I'd much rather have an original Cayman over the original NSX and I'm sure I'd think the new one is even better. I don't care about comparing cylinders. I care about comparing how a car drives.

    Dream on, Asian boys. Don't ever put Porsche and Honda in the same sentence- I bet you guys wear Geezys and run around saying, ''Hey man, they're just like Yeezys '' !

    Dumb title. When I think sports car maker, Honda doesn't come to mind. Porsche however does.

      Jose Lopez As a follower of the channel I get it. Everything is benchmarked to the S2000 and NSX. Not many sports cars are high revving NA and Manual nowadays. Those Hondas were. Having said that the title is tongue and cheek.

      I can understand that but when Honda does make a sports car, they make a proper sports car. I'm still 50/50 on the new "NSX," though. Even the FWD Type R cars gave many RWD cars a tough time on the track.
