As an enthusiast and 2013 991.1 c2s you summed it up well. maybe in 2013 it was "fast' , but now it's best described as bit spirited, lively .And you nailed the handling about right ,noting the steering differences between c2s and c4s. Methinkz my next car will be 991.2 with added torque and about zero deficit for living in vegas/2000 ft altitude.
I have a 2014 991.1 C4S, but manual. I had a 991.2....it was boring with that engine. I bought the 991.1 with only 22K miles on it. Plus, its CPO for two years. Mine is a stripper... just sports chrono, Bose, PDLS and keyless entry. The day I bought it, four people were waiting to snag it if I did not.

I have a 2012 991.1 C2S. Mine is black, which is an impossible color to keep clean. You do not need more power than this. With launch control, it gets moving very quickly, 0-60 is about 3.9 seconds. It really shines from 70-100 mph. I would be intrigued by the GTS version. The handling of my car is just a bit soft. It does not have the sport suspension or the PDCC.
@@morganvon5664 Alas with our same cars launch control is impractical! It’s not like you can time your launches and traffic lights to coincide . And I for one I’m not going to abuse car trying. You are right about how spritely car is from 60- on to about 100 or little more. And I’ve tracked mine about 10 times and it’s plenty fast .straight line giddy up :Though not benchmark fast by any means… a newer m2 - m3 I imagine would be a match. Or an Audi RS or model 3 performance! But I’m not trading mine in for any of them. Enjoy and have a gudn
991.2 C2S owner here. Got caught with a rapidly deflating tyre (cut inner wheel so the foam wouldn't have fixed it), mid-afternoon in the middle of nowhere. Fortunately found a tyre shop before it completely went flat. I had 2 hours to find new rears before the garage, which did not have any in stock, closed and would have to leave it overnight. Fortunately after some wrangling with the garage owner that it was imperative that he sourced some new tyres because there was no way I was leaving the car overnight He managed to find them with 30 mins to closing and I was on my way. The point of this story is that I almost bought a GTS instead of this car and if it had been so, there was no way they would have gotten the centerlock nut off with the equipment they had and the car would have to spend a night in a very unfamiliar neighbourhood, without a guarantee that it would be there the next day. So yeah, centerlock nuts are overrated.
I swear this looks better than the 992 especially C4 S looks gorgeous from the back like the turbo plenty of power top speed on this car Porsche says 186 but I saw a video this guy on the autobahn you know Porsche there always Very conservative with their numbers he’s doing 190 in this car and it’s going to 191 192 completely stock and I think it was the convertible. Of course we have the top up lol and even 0 to 60 numbers are very conservative almost half a second . That’s a lot, especially with Sport CRONO and the PDK launch control, etc. awesome car it’s not too big like the 92.2 is getting and it’s not small like the 997 it is the Goldilocks truly that’s how a Porsche 911 should look definitely in size that’s it
god oh god why on earth did they ever stop making naturally aspirated engines. imagine we could have a hypothetical 450 hp naturally aspirated "S" piece of heaven by now in the 992 generation. what a car this would be. Turbos are ok. but this is where its at. Gt3 is so expensive. In a couple years i might be able to afford a 911. by then the 991.1 will be too old for me 😞
He talks about it. The torque dip between 1 and 2 is the Achilles heal. Not a problem on a race track, huge problem on your favorite back road. Still an amazing car.
@@JustinTipton 99% of drivers cant even use the power in this car to its full potential on a back road. you really dont need the extra power of the turbo in my opinion. 400 is plenty. of course the turbo makes the power band more usable in general.
@@gratler I have a 991.1 GTS. It needs more torque at the bottom of second. As is, you can just mash the throttle on corner exit with no fear of the rear ever stepping out, or any drama at all until you get above about 5k RPMs. Maybe I'm in your 1%, but I want more torque, I want it to take more skill to drive.
@@JustinTipton fair point i guess. but i mean cant you just always get a turbo if you want more torque? i think its a shame you cant choose between turbo/non turbo. All wheel drive/not all wheel drive etc. for me a Naturally A. 911 is just how a 911 is supposed to be. the turbo sound is simply not the same as a NA sound 😐 for me sound i guess is much more important
@@JustinTipton the 911 gets bigger with every new gen also. by now the could increase the displacement to like 4.2 or something for the s. I'm sure we would have a very healthy torque there.
I love my 991.1 C4S. Only thing that I really miss is Apple CarPlay and I wish my car had the PSE. Most likely going to be a forever car for me. Nice video.
@@gregs8685X51 makes it a GTS mechanically...the most overlooked option when shopping for an S/4S. Unfortunately the one in the video doesn't have it as you can see it doesn't have the 3rd radiator.
I've got a 991.1 that a friend coded GT3 steering into via PIWIS. Completely transforms the car and is absolutely required for this rack. There's a big thread about it on Rennlist and a number of videos here on UA-cam of how to do it.

I prefer the old sport steering wheel as compared to the smaller newer ones which actually look cheaper to me
The 991.1 is the Goldilocks version of the 911. Modern day classic.

Steering wheel swap to the 991.2/Macan/718-style wheel + GT3 steering calibration perfects this car

This is the Carrera S, not the GTS, so it’s actually only 400bhp, not 430.
I sold mine 80% because the steering was so uninspiring. Really quite numb.

My old car but mine was black 0-60 4.2 felt underpowered sexy car in black yes, but a slug by many standards
Sports cars need to be faster than at least 3.8 for it to feel powerful enough
991.2S in a manual is the sweet spot I think.
