RIP John Candy. You were one of the best comedic AND dramatic actors of all time. You got to show us what Farley and Belushi might have done with just a bit more time.
I hope you’re making Him laugh hard up there. You’ve earned that privilege.

Out of all road trip movies, I think this is the best. This music gives you freedom vibes of hitting the open road and at the same time a little emotional because you'll have to drive back home after visiting family.❤❤❤❤

The scene on the train where he first smiles thinking about his family, then humor when he recollects his trip with Del, then concern when he thinks back over Del’s words about his wife. So powerful and not a single word spoken.

Did you know that scene wasn't scripted? He was going back home after filming and he was actually thinking about all the things that happened on set. The camera guy saw him and filmed him. It's was unplanned and it lead to that scene at the end.

@@devenous They used footage from in between takes on the train. They were filming Martin's scene on the train but decided to include footage where Martin was preparing and trying to focus on his lines. The way you said it doesn't make any sense. They weren't surreptitiously filming Steve Martin as he made his way home on the train after filming lol

One of the most powerfully haunting, and beautiful music scores that I have ever heard. It's ambient and highly emotional human connective nature cries and speaks volumes about many things. It's very humbling and for me it just sets my brain straight. It's also very sad because it makes one realize just how much loss there has been in the last 27 years and how far this country has fallen. I feel like I live in a world today where everything is cold and shallow. Like no-one has any depth to them or feels any real human emotions anymore. This song is like a much needed cry and it feels so good. I literally feel like I haven't been home in years because America is just not the same place anymore.

I had this song on my IPOD a few years back. I plugged it in to my stereo and this song played. I had just got back from Germany, I had been gone 2 months. I was an equipment engineer for a large company. I took a cab from the airport and picked up some pizza and a 6pack of beer, it was the day before Christmas and it was cold wet and raining outside. I sat in my tub eating pizza and drinking beer while listening to this song feeling so good that I was home, I almost didn't get the flight. It was the last time I was gone that long and I never went out of the country near the holidays again. I don't travel anymore in my career, those days are over, I don't miss it.

A great soundtrack. You cant help but feel the emotion between these characters. To feel what Del has gone through and never looked back and live in this lonesome world he made of his own. We feel such compassion Del gives off despite some differences others like Neil may have had a problem ajusting at first. The fact is we sometimes forget were human.

"You're no saint. You got a free cab, you got a free room, and someone who will listen to your boring stories. I mean, didn't you even notice on the plane when you started talking, eventually I started reading THE VOMIT BAG?! Didn't that give you some sort of clue, like 'hey, maybe this guy's not enjoying it?' You know, everything's not an anecdote. You have to discriminate. You choose things that are funny, or mildly amusing, or interesting. You're a miracle! YOUR STORIES HAVE *NONE OF THAT*! They're not even amusing *ACCIDENTALLY*! 'Honey, I'd like you to meet Del Griffith, he's got some amusing anecdotes for you. Oh, and here's a gun so you can blow your brains out, you'll thank me for it!' I mean, I could tolerate any insurance seminar. For days, I could sit there and listen to them go on and on with a big smile on my face! They'd say 'How can you stand it?!' And I'd said 'Cause I've been with Del Griffith. *I can take anything*.' You know what they'd say? They'd say 'I know what you mean, The Shower Curtain Ring Guy, WHOA!' It's like going on a date with a Chatty-Cathy Doll. I expect you to have a little string on your chest, you know, I pull out and have to snap back. Except I wouldn't pull it out and snap it back, you would! ACK ACK ACK ACK! And by the way, you know when you're telling these little stories, here's a good idea: *HAVE A POINT*! It makes it so much more interesting for the listener!"

Lost my grandmother in july this will be the first holiday season without my grandparents... its going to be hard this song among some others reminds me of my childhood growing up now knowing i wont see my grandmother in her holiday apron waiting for family to come i wont see my grandparents at the table talking about anything and everything and i wont see them opening the door this year or putting up the tree with them now there is talk of no Thanksgiving this year.... just feel empty

Such an amazing movie and song.
How did you get a version of this without the lyrics? ??

I think they must have edited out the movie sounds with some software. It's why the recording itself afterward is left kind of flat and low quality when compared to the original HI-Fi. Even so it's better then nothing. It would be nice if the studio would release this rendition of the song in full quality. The problem is it probably doesn't exist. Studio engineer's would have to pull out the original tapes and blend the different tracks together in this way all over again to make a new recording without the movie sounds added. It can be done but it would take time. I would love to do it myself.
