The Lost Coast in northern CA, Mattole valley blm. Right on the ocean. Dry camping but they do have vault toliets. Your camped right on the ocean. And a river off to the side. Very secluded. $14 a day if I remember correctly.

Sigsbee RV park on Naval Air Station Key West is a GREAT place to stay! Hard to get in from Oct thru April, but well worth it if you can get it. Must be able to get access to military base to use this. Pleanty of laundry available and over 500 dry camping sites if you can't score one of the 93 FHU site. Book exactly 180 days out if you want to get FHU...they fill up fast.

You guys are awesome. About two weeks ago we stayed at Clark County shooting facility. It’s a great place with nice view of Vegas at night. For shooting enthusiasts I would also recommend Josephine County Sportsman Association gun range/RV park in Grants Pass OR.👍🏻 And Ben Avery shooting facility campground, North Phoenix AZ. World class range.

Richardson Grove State Park on highway 101 in California. It’s part of the Avenue of the Giants. Right by the Eel River and the scenic drives are epic. It’s just a ten minute drive to Garberville, one of the centers of the counter culture of the sixties and seventies in Northern California, and yes, that includes all the pot farms back in the woods. Eureka is a little over an hour away and there are plenty of quaint little towns along the way. One of our favorites is Ferndale, an artsy city with several excellent examples of Victorian architecture.

I knew y’all would bring up creede despersed camping. We were nervous when we got up there with our cornerstone because the spots yall stayed in were full. We had to go further down the trail and it was way to choppy to get our rig down there. Y’all’s spot is always full now lol! But we went there to try at least. So we stayed at Mountain View’s in Creede it was incredible but expensive.

I'm afraid to share this, because it's so amazing, but we are at Big Hart Campground in Thomson,GA. It is stunning! It is owned by the COE but run by the county. It has the COE feel! W/E, nice bath houses, a dump station and amazing hosts! $30 a night. Every site has a view of beautiful Clark Hill Lake and the fishing must be great by the looks of the fishing boats each day! We have spent 12 days here and will definitely be back!

Many years ago when my wife and I were full timers we were the campground hosts at the Air Force Academy Campground and we loved it. Back then you could even eat your meals at the academy cafeteria. Unfortunately, years later, some of the campers wore out their welcome by not dressing appropriately (they had a dress code) so now that perk is no longer allowed😢

I'm not sure if you know this Phil and Stacy, but if you have any VA rated service connected disability, you can get an Oregon state park pass for free. The cool thing about Oregon is that you don't have to be an in-state resident to receive it. To top it off, you can stay at any state park in Oregon absolutely free for up to 10 days a month. All you have to pay is the eight dollar reservation fee.
And as someone who lives less than an hour from Wall, SD, that camping area is absolutely majestic. I like to take my telescopes out to the Badlands.

I'm afraid I've found some military campgrounds more expensive than local ones. NAS Whidbey Island, Cliffside RV Famcamp was more expensive than Fidalgo Bay RV Resort just outside Anacortes, WA. Admittedly some of the sites at Fidalgo Bay aren't as nice as Cliffsides, but you are closer to town, a bike ride and you don't have the inconvenience of going through the base's front gate.

  • @christinewarner3206

Phil - you nailed the pronunciation of Humarock (MA) the 1st time you said it. I was raised in that area. Have lived in Cody for 40+ years and the campground you called Elk Fork (Wapiti/Cody, WY) was not actually Elk Fork CG. Looking just as you were starting in that driveway was not heading into Elk Creek. The river doesn't really flow through this CG like your video shows. The dead end just leads into wilderness area. The only place the river runs through there would be on the right hand side driving in and the sites are all very small. Your rig & ours (50') would not fit in any of the sites and it would even be difficult to get turned around to get back out at the end of the loop within Elk Fork. Think it's most likely (99%) Eagle Creek CG where there is cabins across the river from the camp sites and the bridge down river.

First of all, Phil's pronunciation of Humarock is correct. You forgot to mentiom how lucky military folk are to have this site. There's nothing close to Boston... this is the closest. You mentioned the train (purple commuter line) to the city. There's a ferry from the south shore too, but I'm not sure if it's near Humarock

A big thank you to Ben and Chris of @TheMcMillanExpress for their video on inexpensive campsites near Disney World. We have stayed at Bill Frederick Park in Orlando several times. It is a big city park with a good sized RV park with water and electric sites (a few sites also have sewer, and there is a dump station at the exit). A lot of hiking and biking trails, a shopping center nearby with a Publix, and about 20 minutes to Disney. Last time we were there it was about 30 a night.

our mistake. Breakaway box? First camping trip with new Wolf-pup. Brakes locked up 0n camper. Fearing letting camp sit on side of road. We dragged new camper all way home.
Costly $500 mistake. New hubs, brakes, all new wiring.
Luckily it didn’t catch a fire.

I’m retired from the NY Air National Guard. Do I need a special ID or paperwork to use the military bases. I still have my retired NYANG retired ID card.

Does my fifth wheel need to be less than 10 yrs old to camp at state parks across the USA? We are retiring and want to go explore the states, but not live in an RV park. We want to move sites and see different areas. Thanks!

We have not experienced anything like that at State Parks. There are some campgrounds across the country that do have a 10 year age rule.
