Anywhere west, north and east are great options and agreed on the Benton and Buchanan if that is what your desire is and okay being outside of town. We have such an amazing community especially in the gardening realm. So blessed. I will make sure to send them both of your recommendations and thanks so much for your great comment. Much appreciated💯
You'd be better off looking just over the border in Benton or Buchanan counties because the taxes are lower. Also, every acreage we look at that is decent is like.... $350-500k and that's a lot. That said, you're right about gardening and Linn County Master gardeners are wonderful, as well as the compost resource in town. Be sure to tell your new Alabama friends to check out Kula's in Walker and Midnight Smoker in NewBo. I imagine they'd like to know where the good BBQ is.
@@DagburnJohnnyGobble you don’t have to work with the builder. We can help if you are looking for outside representation or you can buy existing homes as well
This is one website worth visiting. www.extension.iastate.edu/linn/master-gardener-program I would also join some homesteading groups specifically Homesteaders of Iowa as they have great events a few times a year.

How's it compare with the Council Bluffs area? In what ways is it better/worse/same?
@@csa813 well I am not 100% sure on Council Bluffs as I am in the eastern part of the state. Check out niche.com ratings for each
Is there a homestead that you can buy without having to work with the builder?
