1. Cold Cornfields 2. Flyover State... 3. Small towns are amazing. But big towns are small towns trying desperately to be cities...

Iowa has some of the best soil for gardening. If you choose to buy a home in Iowa, most likely you will find yourself in a place with a huge yard for gardening. Don’t forget to small the lilacs every spring. 🤗😻

Moved here awhile ago love it so far better than the East Coast.

I lived in Iowa city for about 24 hours then moved down to bettendorf and have been here since.

Please don't believe anything positive about my state, it is an absolute horrid state. And there is nothing but corn everywhere and the stench of manure will never fail you, it even gets in your clothes and homes. Would you want to move to such a corny, smelly state? We do have one of the last Flava Flav's Chicken in Clinton I think but still all and all I'd stay away from Iowa....please?

Des Moines, yes, please

My husband and I moved to Jerome which is a hamlet 10 miles WSW of Centerville last December. I grew up about 17 miles west of Centerville. I will admit there are a few problems here . The general shabbiness of the town is disheartening, However, the people, while a but rough around the edges, are very nice and pleasant. Compared to Florida where we lived and its overt homophobia sanctioned by the FL governor there, we have been made to feel welcome in Centerville. It is a bit difficult having to drive to Des Moines (85 miles away) or Kirksville, MO (55 miles away) when we need to go to Menards or Home Depot. It is also a bit far to get NPR on the radio or TV. We had to put up a huge antenna to get either the Des Moines, IA or Kirksville, MO-Ottumwa, IA which are the closest television markets to us since we are not interested in subscribing to cable TV. I agree with you about Keokuk and Ft. Madison (both of them are county seats of Lee County, the only county with 2 county seats in Iowa), I was surprised that Ft. Madison was so low on the scale. Keokuk is on its way to becoming another failed city like Cairo, IL (another Mississippi River town). though and there is a palpable sense of hopelessness there. Take another look at Centerville and talk to the residents here. You might see that the city is nicer than what its statistics indicate. There are a lot of good people here.

I’m from creston and thought it could make the last. Economy struggling and lots of rundown houses. Some crime. But surprised that fort dodge, ottumwa, and clinton were not on the list. Osky should not be on it. Maquoketa I’ve not been to. Centerville is economically depressed so I’m ok with it here and it has some crime and lots of rundown housing. I think the methodology of picking towns he used was really flawed by only using outside data from three sources.

Why would u put co2 in the ground at the head of the river that supplies life to all of our states if that gets into our water eveything in the river is dead! I cant believe this is even being considered!

I used to live in Vinton. Because of my job I moved south to a warmer climate, After seeing this video I just realized how much I miss iowa in general. Marion would be my move to place as soon as I get a chance to move lback.❤

I don't know about anyone else... I drive through Iowa a lot along the 80 and as a trucker state drive me nuts... One minute you're going about 80 and the next minute you're going about 55.. I feel like I'm back in the Appalachians at times... That's my only drive about Iowa the rest of it... Some explanatory I guess... And I guess a lot of people would think State is all flat... One hell of a mission

This needs updating. There has been allot of police corruption exposed since this was originally posted. Not only does it go all the way to the top ( Chief) the Mayor himself has been in the limelight in a negative manner. You will find the cons not only supersedes the pros by far they are of the magnitude beyond acceptable levels. Do your homework, the lives of you and your loved ones depends on it.

While I hate living in IA in general, especially the heat and humidity. We moved from CO for my husbands job 4 years ago and I’ve been unhappy since. I hope to move out of here as soon as possible. However, IA nice is a real thing and really the best thing about living here.

The high crime he speaks of are petty crimes,very petty.i live in one of these small Iowa towns so I know.mostly small stuff like drug possessions,owi, minimal vandalism,minor theft,ECT .theres little to no real crimes like rape,murder,robberies,ECT. And we don't call it poverty,we just have less money than some but we still eat ,we still have housing no matter the condition you believe it to be in.not sure why you'd want to scare people away from towns like this,they need be warned of the big cities.id out desmoins, Davenport and Waterloo at the top of the list worst cities in iowa,thats where your problems are at,we good out here in little town Iowa..

I think that in every large city, you have to take this information with a grain of salt. These cities have some bad neighborhoods and some good neighborhoods. I was surprised that Muscatine (where I currently live) made this list. I don't think there is a neighborhood in this town where I'd be afraid to walk alone at night. Unfortunately, there are places in Dubuque (where I used to live and which I would suspect would be considered one of the best places to live in Iowa) where I would be quite afraid to walk at night. So, it is a big generality to list one entire city worse than another just because it might have a rough neighborhood that you don't need to live in and don't even need to visit if you lived elsewhere in that city.

I'm from Chicago but Iowa does have the Cubbies for a farm team. Iowa Cubs 😊

Curious as to the cost as how you are calculating? I'm local and looking for a company to do this. The quote we received is much great than you mentioned in your video on average. 1-4k seems very low.

Our hidden secret is trout. Depending on how you fish for them limits are easy. Big fish are even possible up to over 10#

Anywhere west, north and east are great options and agreed on the Benton and Buchanan if that is what your desire is and okay being outside of town.
