Nice interview, good job. Learning Mandarin will open up another whole new world for you while there. Don't bring the mindset of where you come from and expect it is the same over there. Learn the rules and be respectful to their culture/people. Be a good human being willing to learn will work most of the time. Hope everyone who travel there have a wonderful time. There is a lot to see even for the Chinese who live there. 😄

Young people have a positive view of China. They made everything we needed for a long time, great food and culture, and never caused problems in foreign countries. The old western politicians have a prejudice and jeously towards China that is understandable for a rising power. China❤

I so agree with you. Met many young Americans, Brits, Aussies in their early to mid 20s during my current trip in South East Asia, have to say Younger Westerners have a much better, healthier, at least less biased attitude toward China and Chinese. I notice this only in recent years. Many older generations' perception of China was nothing out of toxically fantastical - a mixture of unfounded hostility and spite.

I don't know, when I see a man and a woman walking together, unless I have something specific that I have to address to the woman, I'd for sure choose to start talking to the guy first, just so that they, particularly the woman, don't get the wrong idea. I thought that'd be the more polite way to go, but apparently it's being considered as sexism?

When approaching a group of mixed men and women, people go for men first maybe just because they try to be less offensive. You may also observe sometimes women go for women first. It might be a cultural difference (or may not necessarily be a difference), but definitely not sexism.

China is very safe for women, so is East Asia in general. There is misunderstanding that this safety is due to authoritarian, lots of security cameras and etc. This does not explain why other East Asian like Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, even Singapore are extremely safe places for women. This is more likely due to values-based system (Confucian & culture), focus on courtesy & harmony that make these places very safe.

There is a HUGE number of Americans who do not know any of this information. Sadly there are a huge number of Americans that dont really care. Why does America continue to treat others this way? Its frikin weird!!! Self Interest they act and operate with no shame, Its pretty embarrasing. If this world falls into world war a huge blame falls on American conduct on foriegn soil. As citizens of America individuals just simply have no sway on the government level. What they do on that level is just another world.

Shanghai is safe, life in China is great, very true, I enjoyed my first 18 years of my life there, but also kept in mind that there were security cameras at every corner, internet surveillance, and the great firewall. People like to say under this type of video: China is just awesome, don't trust "western media", but honestly I'd say they are somewhat true: surveillance, racism, sexism, autocracy... They are just not a big deal in daily life, and they only become important either when you are a victim, or once you start thinking about human rights. So you do have to evaluate life in China in a logical way, weigh your opinions before mindlessly believing in a interview or a news feed.
