Summary: What Makes or Breaks a First Date
In this discussion, individuals share their thoughts on what behaviors and personality traits are attractive or unattractive during a first date. The conversation covers everything from manners and confidence to financial discussions and personal boundaries. Here’s a breakdown of the key points:
    Turn-Offs on a First Date
    Poor Manners:
Eating Habits: Loud smacking sounds while eating or being rude to waitstaff can instantly ruin a date.
Smoking: Smoking without asking for permission is considered impolite and disrespectful.
    Overconfidence and Show-Offs:
Bragging About Income: Constantly talking about how much money they make, especially if it’s average, comes off as arrogant and unappealing.
Finance Guys: Overloading the conversation with finance topics or showing off wealth can be a turn-off.
    Lack of Engagement:
Ignoring the Date: Focusing on personal activities like playing games or not investing in the date itself is unattractive.
Being Too Shy: Not expressing emotions or expecting the other person to guess their feelings can be draining.
    Rushing Into Serious Topics:
Talking About Marriage Too Soon: Bringing up marriage or long-term commitments on the first date feels rushed and agenda-driven.
Personal Questions: Asking too many personal questions upfront, like family details, feels like an interrogation.
    Disrespectful Behavior:
Physical Gestures: Getting too close or making inappropriate physical gestures without consent is a major red flag.
Lack of Boundaries: Not respecting personal space or boundaries is unattractive.
Green Flags: What Makes a Great First Date
    Thoughtful Gestures:
Protective Actions: Walking on the street side to protect the other person from cars or carrying bags shows thoughtfulness.
Polite and Gentle: Being polite to service staff and showing kindness in small ways leaves a good impression.
    Humble Excellence:
Subtle Confidence: Being excellent but not showing off-letting the other person discover their achievements naturally-is highly attractive.
Ambition Over Income: Having ambition and drive is more important than current income, especially for younger individuals.
    Good Communication:
Resolving Conflicts Directly: Speaking up and addressing issues openly is appreciated.
Comfortable Conversations: Being able to chat and make the other person feel at ease is a big plus.
    Respect and Boundaries:
Asking for Consent: For example, asking if it’s okay to smoke before doing so shows respect.
Not Rushing: Taking things slow and not pushing for serious commitments too soon is preferred.
    Quotable Quotes
On Overconfidence: “Guys who are excellent but remain humble, and let people discover their hidden glow, are more appealing.” - Participant
On Thoughtfulness: “Little thoughtful details, like walking on the street side to protect you from cars, are impressive.” - Participant
On Ambition: “Ambition is more important than income. A young man without a great job is understandable, but at age 40 or 50, that’s not okay.” - Participant
On Education: “Education is just a reflection of one stage in life. If someone excels later, that’s what matters.” - Participant
On Manners: “Being rude to waitstaff or smoking without asking is an instant turn-off.” - Participant
    Additional Insights
Income and Ambition: While income is a consideration, ambition and drive are often seen as more important, especially in younger individuals. For older individuals, financial stability becomes more critical.
Education: Higher education is valued, but it’s not a deal-breaker if someone has excelled in other areas of life.
First Date Activities: Simple activities like coffee are preferred over expensive dinners for a first date.
    Final Thoughts
A successful first date hinges on respect, thoughtfulness, and good communication. Avoiding behaviors like bragging, being rude, or rushing into serious topics can make a big difference. On the other hand, small, thoughtful gestures and humble confidence can leave a lasting positive impression. Ultimately, finding a balance between showing genuine interest and respecting boundaries is key to making a great first impression.

I am a Certified Wedding Specialist, a Professional Bridal Consultant, a Professional Wedding Planner, a Marriage Educator, a Certified Wedding Ceremony Officiant and an Ordained Minister in the US (Sarasota County, Florida) so I am constantly learning about relationships. I think it is great that young adults know exactly what they do and do NOT want in their partner. And if peeling shrimp puts a smile on this lady's face, then this gentleman is off to a great start. We need more kindness in this world! Dating is tough! Loving someone is tough! Maintaining a healthy relationship is tough! Thank you for all the great questions, Aiden. We have all learned so much about the dating culture in China through your questions and the responses from your many videos. Applause! Applause! Happy 2025!

What’s the difference in job descriptions between your titles?

    • @AvisShivBran
      @AvisShivBran 12 днів тому

@@wyw201 I am the proud owner of a small Weddings and Events business in the US. When a engaged couple calls you, they have certain expectations about your knowledge in the weddings and events industry, and that's why I have so many titles and wear so many hats. There is very little that I have not been asked or seen or heard or experienced in regards to "getting married" or renewing a couple's wedding vows. I have done everything from convincing a young couple fresh out of high school who wanted to get married to postpone their wedding plans . . . to neutralizing Mom and Dad arguments about their daughter's wedding . . . to marrying a couple during a thunderstorm . . . to helping a senior couple fill out a Marriage License at a local Marriage License Department . . . to finding beach locations that are wheelchair friendly . . . to creating realistic wedding day budgets. I continue to educate myself, matter of fact the last course I took was in 2024. On more than one occasion, I have gotten up at 4AM because I have contracted several weddings that month that all need my immediate attention. When you love what you do, it is not work. I have a website and an Instagram account.

Its normal for men to have some qualities that turn off a woman on a date and vice versa.
However the biggest turnoff for anyone is the steep bride price and expecting the man to buy jewellery, handbags etc on a first date!
If you guys are looking for an ATM instead of messing with men please borrow it from a bank!😅😅

@ZedSpeakss Placing your cursor on the Chinese subtitles will cause a hand icon will appear. With the hand icon now visible, left-click and hold with your mouse, moving it at the same time. Doing so will allow you to drag the subtitles to more or less anywhwere you want on the screen.

I feel like a lot of these were very surface level, generalized red flags you see in every society. You should ask culture specific questions

These answers were probably based on their own personal experiences. Dating isn’t that different across the younger generations of various cultures.

Hidden glow is great but to lose interest in someone for making an effort could be expecting too much… Like you they are insecure about where it’s headed so overcompensate. Better to not trust our own analysis too much because relationships are dynamic. If you think I don’t like and it’s always going to be like that, you can miss many hidden gems.

The girl on the left wearing a hat at the 2nd minute of the video really caught my eye. I’d definitely ask her out; she seems so cool. Too bad I don’t speak Chinese, though. If she leaves a comment here, I’ll come visit and take her to a restaurant with all my heart.

The girl at 01:25 laughing about the guy who said just above average, not excellent... Laughing at a guy about his salary, that's a red flag.

    • @alcyonae
      @alcyonae 13 днів тому +5

Nah. She wasn’t turned off by his average salary, but by his self-importance while being very average

    • @silentperson233
      @silentperson233 9 днів тому

Yea I feel @alcyonae interprets her sentiment more accurately. In general, it seems proper 'presentability' is a green flag for women. If you're overconfident and express superiority but your competence doesn't match up, AND you're not self aware about that, especially while interacting with others in a group setting, then the guy presents himself poorly. A lady doesn't want to be with him.
Along the same line, being refined with manners and dressed up neatly is presentable. Just as being respectful and polite, as the lady at 6:40 expresses. One thing I slightly disagree with that lady is how she views paying for the first date. I think it's a way to expressing interest via investment.
Guys express attraction to multiple girls, girls choose among the guys who show interest (and accepts a date), and then guys go to the date and can express further interest (I like how you look, your personality) by paying for the date. Ladies who accept their interest (he's still presentable) would appreciate the investment and feel good about it. They can always pay back later in other ways, (cooking, covering next meal, getting tickets to an event to go together, etc.). Ladies are generally attracted to investment and presentability (idiosyncratic, investing to some standard) and guys are attracted to looks and personality (can be very choosy if their own attractiveness is very high along having many options)
