Been living here in China for almost 7 years. Im about to get my ID ( basically green card here ) because im married to a Chinese. and yea.. 0 struggle here.. so much peace! A real place to raise a family and enjoy LIFE.
I'm a Chico, CA citizen, and have been in CN more than 17 years, now in Shenzhen. I've shared the same reasons with people, but not as lucidly as you have! One of my big fears is that if the US gov't (aka MIC) does anything stupid (stupider than they have already been doing), you and I and other US citizens could be deported. One thing I'll add is culture: I'm a composer, and use my music to promote peace, and another reason is that China is the people who is leading the world to Peace! 🌹
If war breaks out, Chinese democratism will be at an all-time high, but as far as existing Chinese history goes, it's unlikely that there will be a mass expulsion of expatriates from China. I don't know if you know anything about Sino-Japanese war orphans. after WW2, the Japanese left probably tens of thousands of war orphans in China, and these children and women were taken in by ordinary Chinese families. It was only after the normalization of Sino-Japanese relations that they left China in 1970s~1990s
Don't worry about it. The Chinese know the difference between the government and the general public. Even if the two countries are at war, as long as you don't do anything hostile to China yourself, the Chinese will still treat you well. Right now the relationship between the two countries is hostile, but have you ever heard of an American citizen being attacked in China? On the contrary there are many Chinese who are attacked in the US simply because they are of Chinese descent. Another example is the way the Chinese treated Japanese civilians in China after the end of the war. The Chinese people did not persecute ordinary Japanese and raised many Japanese orphans. So you have nothing to fear. The Chinese will decide how to treat you based on your own behavior, not that of the US government.
From Malaysia. Travelled ( By Bike and back packing ) in US and China in the 2010. Already i felt that it is MUCH safer in China than in US. And I am a season backpacker with lots of experience. Felt really "Afraid" in certain cities and location in US ,But in China I could not even care less when walking along at midnight on a deserted street. SAFETY when travelling is most important when travelling Solo.
I wish you would post some videos of your travel to China. I want to go there, but need to research about getting around, spending money, getting internet connection, etc, etc
You are lucky you didn't get assaulted, raped, robbed or killed. A lot of foolish people don't realize that you are a target because of your skin color in the west.
@sunshinesun121 Cities are where much of the poor people in the US live since they can't afford a single family home in the suburbs. This is probably the opposite in China.
Not me! The US government is bad enough, but the CCP takes the surveillance state to an entirely different level. But...1.4 billion cowards, what do you expect?

Well, for low crimes, cameras is one reason, but the fundamental reason is that almost everyone has food to eat and has house to live in, so they are not getting desperate.
You missed the most important point when you mentioned about safety and almost crime free environment…. Chinese are brought up to respect each other and their properties.. it’s in the Culture and Education..
Noooo... China used to be rough AF back in the early 2000. Highway men used to rob freight haulers. Mugging was rampant. Scams were so prolific that people don't help others in distress in case they get swindled. Guns were so widely accessible that armed robberies spilled over to Hong Kong. Lady you are lucky, you are smart and left while you can... there are so many Americans who can't and / or are still deluded/ brainwashed by the government to think that the hell that they are living in is actually normal.
There are 6000 Mainland Chinese blatantly running into the USA and asking for Asylum every year. This is a small number compared to over 60,000 who are living in the USA illegally by simply overstaying their visas. Nobody knows for sure the 'unknown illegal Chinese' but some evidence insists there are some 100,000 who live illegally in the USA. Of course there are a million fully legal Chinese living, studying and immigrating too. but really think about that for a minute? Thousands of Chinese a month are risking their lives and spending all they had to get out of China and into the USA even if it means living illegal lives without citizen rights etc. They still want that more than living as citizens in China. oh and nearly any American could 'get out' of the USA if they wanted. even the poorest Americans could get on a bus and in a day be in Mexico or Columbia lol

I am a Chinese American living in the United States for 36 years. I am planning to retire soon and move back in China. During this 36 years I have witnessed US going down the hill and it’s accelerating with those two old crazy guys fighting for White House.
I am from Guangdong of China. I would like to point out one thing that cameras are not the critical reason for less and less crimes in China. As you can see robber wearing mask to rob in the bank where has many camaras in the U.S. During the 90s when I was a kid, there are a lot of crimes including stealing and drug abuse , but as time went by, less and less such things happened, and there are many reasons for this I think. As economy develops, people can find opportunities making money everywhere easily, so why risk stealing and robbing, which will face severe punishment in the end. And the society has developped a culture worshipping those winners in both learning and work, it is shameful for those that do not study hard and work hard. American culture encourage personality, freedom and even enjoy violence, as can be seen in movie and games everywhere, which helps crimes and drug abuse. But sure it helps to make popular TV series and popular movie as well. And freedom is something many dream of in this world, which also has something to do with creativity I think. It is complicated to say which is better, or rather, which is worse.

This was simply a strategy of containment, similar to what we see unfolding now.

"Wokeness" Bro, the term "woke" means "being alert to social and/or racial discrimination and injustice", that's everything that communists fight for since before the Great October Socialist Revolution. Even Chairman Mao himself was "woke": "Chairman Mao Zedong received visitors from Africa here this afternoon [8 August 1963]. @@Deee.X Corruption is inevitable. All governments have corruption. So you need to see what the government has done for the people/taxpayers when all governments are corrupt. There is a big difference between China and the United States from this perspective. The most classic example is the development of cities. For example, the Chinese government will use taxpayers' money to build some projects that will cause short-term losses but are beneficial to long-term development, such as high-speed rail. Currently, only a few high-speed rails in China are profitable. In the past few years, there were no high-speed rails that were profitable. However, the losses of high-speed rail have promoted the development of trade, logistics, tourism and manufacturing between different provinces in the north and south of China. The Chinese government is willing to use 1-10 years of losses in exchange for greater profits in 10 years. As far as I know, the US government will not do such a thing because it is difficult to make short-term profits.
Not really, you just have to get a job that can give you the chance. The best way to work for any foreign firm in China is to find the job in another country and then be sent here. Finding a job and THEN coming here is better for the following reasons: Housing tends to be covered Salaries tend to be higher Schooling (if you have kids) tends to be paid for. This is HUGE because international schools in China are all private and they are expensive. You might be provided with cleaners, cooks, and drivers. You’ll probably be provided with someone here to introduce you to the area and give you an “orientation” of some sorts. Believe me, you will discover that the quality of life in China is excellent, as the aforementioned experiences are genuine reflections of my current life.

I'll probably do okay against the freshly graduated, highly qualified beautiful people, and the applicants with experience, and everyone who got displaced by AI, assuming AI hasn't already destroyed the job. Instead of being dirt poor and waiting to die, I could simply ascend to the upper-middle class where I'll be valued, productive, happy, and surrounded by beautiful people with meaningful lives. Then I can go to China, or stay and buy a luxury car and a beachfront house for the beautiful and loving upper-middle class woman I'll marry. Or, as the OP said, I'm jealous, because I'm stuck in this propaganda shethole of a country and would love to leave. If we hate it that much, there's a good reason. For me, it's because life sucks and it always has. I'm permanently broke, alone, diseased, trapped, and miserable. If I save more than $2000, my income is taken away permanently. Not once have I come close to having that much money. I'll never know what it's like to "just" walk in, grab a high-end job, and get everything I've ever wanted.

You honestly believe all of this? You even know what they're doing with certain ethnic groups like the Uhyghers? The US has it's problems for sure but we don't force sterilize people.
The low crime rate is not only due to cameras everywhere. There is an ancient Chinese saying:"仓廪实而知礼节,衣食足而知荣辱",The meaning is: Only when the people have sufficient food can they understand etiquette, and only when they have no worries about food and clothing can they know honor and disgrace. We never lack food, clothing, shelter, and there is no need to steal. I am 25 years old and have never seen drugs, nor have I heard of any classmates or friends around me taking drugs. The government has protected us very well, and we can always respond quickly to any disaster. Let me give an example of a recent earthquake. The 8-magnitude earthquake in Jishishan County, China occurred at 23:59 midnight, and the first batch of rescue forces arrived 35 minutes after the earthquake; 2 hours and 40 minutes later, the Governor and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Gansu Province arrived in disaster area one; The main rescue team arrived 4 hours after the earthquake; The arrival time of the first batch of materials 6 hours after the earthquake; In the morning, people have already eaten steaming hot noodles; The rescue work was completed 16 hours after the earthquake, and all power and transportation infrastructure were restored. In China, the government's responsibility is to serve the people. If local governments engage in dereliction of duty, they will be held accountable by the central government. Once held accountable, a large number of senior officials will be dismissed and punished. So every local government is conducting various disaster drills in order to respond quickly in the event of a natural disaster.

I won't use the word 'impressed'. The Chinese are intrigued seeing foreigners whether black or white or different. They are naturally warm and hospitable towards foreigners. Kids generally want to practise their English. Furthermore, the majority of Chinese are not exposed to western media and how anti-China the narratives are. We who live outside China feel that companies are using the Russia Ukraine war as an excuse to push up prices of everything, even goods that have no Ukrainian origin.
In Singapore, they are also very strict about drugs not because of the Opium war even though the majority of the population are Chinese, but simply because it is such a bad thing for the individual and the society. Now, talking about freedom, that is also not the kind of freedom the individual can have because it affects the society at large.
Individuals can't control themselves sometimes, especially those who have taken drugs. The success of the China administration lies in: Even if you want to take drugs, you will find that you can't find a drug dealer (the drug dealer has basically been caught)

Fortunately, a taxi driver came along and urged him to get in quickly; otherwise, he might have been in danger. In contrast, in China, we often stay out late for midnight snacks until two or three in the morning and then walk home without a second thought.

Yeah... China is safe with or without cameras. It's probably due in a large part to the culture in China and other East Asian territories which places the community good above self. Cameras are required for technology and surveillance is part of that, and why not? However, with cameras, you can be assured that you are like 100% safe that even an occasional drunkard can't get away with any crimes, petty or otherwise. And, why not? London, Britain has the highest number of CCTVs per capita, and yet the darn place is rife with crimes, the homeless, etc. And, OMG, the Brits, the pariah politicians, journalists, etc. want to lecture other people on freedom and safety, ethics, blah blah blah... they should take care of themselves first. OMG!
The only reason we have so many cameras in the UK is basically to make revenue from driving violations and the security companies who sell these systems. It's a racket between government and private companies. Nothing to do with crime prevention, or stopping ppl from driving violations, they literally want you to break the law so they profit from it. Crazy!
Bet most people don't even know that London has the highest density of surveillance cameras in the world. And yet, they cannot bring down the crime rate. You are right. All technology is only supportive and enabler. It is how people use them that makes the real difference.
Surveillance cameras do not simply monitor people to curb crime. They collect a large amount of data such as the flow of people, vehicles, natural disasters, etc. in a certain period of time. These data are used to more conveniently manage cities and traffic.

Owning a car is not so good now in many countries. My insurance has gone up by about 15% even though the insured amount has gone down. Then there's the price of fuel that keeps going up because of the fracturing of global supply chains. Unfortunately, my country doesn't have the convenient public transport that China has.

We definitely went through that bad time. I personally feel that decisions made by superiors are based on the words of medical experts. This decision is actually very harmful to the Chinese economy. Perhaps the top management will consider these two harms and choose to sacrifice the economy and close the city. Now I hate capital’s control of health care. I hope those people are punished.
Well, I do agree part of your opinion, depends on what kinds of products or goods. And you can also explore the way to get good quality products with cheap prices, too. I spent about 2 hours driving and gathering with friends in the downtown area of Shenzhen last weekend. I parked my car in a public parking space that requires a fee. When I left the car for 30 minutes, my phone received a message that the car had already left the parking space. I was very surprised because I didn't drive away! When I returned to the parking spot 2 hours later, I found that my trunk was open. I checked my belongings, including a suitcase, a newly purchased respirator, and an electric inflator pump, all in good condition! I pressed the electric tailgate button, but it still didn't close.

The best way to work for any foreign firm in China is to find the job in another country and then be sent here.
Finding a job and THEN coming here is better for the following reasons:
Housing tends to be covered
Salaries tend to be higher
Schooling (if you have kids) tends to be paid for. This is HUGE because international schools in China are all private and they are expensive.
You might be provided with cleaners, cooks, and drivers.

I was born in Hong Kong and raised in New York. My dream is to retire in China but I don't know if that will be possible. At the very least I'd like to visit China for months at a time. And yes, would love to know more about how you and your husband met, and where in the US you are from. Blessings.

People seem to welcome foreigners and are easily impressed by your appearance, I am an average looking guy, yet people take photos of me in China, lol. Oh and cost of living is fantastic, and foods are great, very easy to get around, the stations are state of art and huge.
Ccp educated Chinese people to be over warm to foreigners
I won't use the word 'impressed'. The Chinese are intrigued seeing foreigners whether black or white or different. They are naturally warm and hospitable towards foreigners. Kids generally want to practise their English. Furthermore, the majority of Chinese are not exposed to western media and how anti-China the narratives are. One day soon they be less impressed with the west.

@@sarahye3529 I've heard they prefer CPC.

You forgot to mention that all the beautiful women are in China. All beautiful Chinese local girls and foreign girls are in China. Hi BeeRose, you are so lucky to live in my favourite country.
I moved from UK to China, and lived there for 5 years, until I married my Chinese sweetheart.
China is such a beautiful safe country.
Last week, I went to Los Angeles for business travel, the bottled water in China is 2RMB, while on the street of LA, it's 2 USD. I know I can expense it, but still didn't buy because I think it's crazy😅
I stayed in a hotel in Santa Monica, I got up early due to jetlag, Like In China, I tried to walk around, but I came back to hotel after couple minutes because quite a lot homeless guys on the street, some of them are talking to nobody. 😅

I can afford it 😂
@@nxkm813 it's not about affordable or not, it's worthy or not. 5 yrs ago, when I came, the price is not like this

In Singapore, they are also very strict about drugs not because of the Opium war even though the majority of the population are Chinese, but simply because it is such a bad thing for the individual and the society. Now, talking about freedom, that is also not the kind of freedom the individual can have because it affects the society at large.
It's a Chinese tradition to be strict on drugs anyway.
@@andrewlim7751not really. China was engulf by opium addiction in the 1900s

Interesting timing - we both put a similar video out at the same time. As a fellow parent (3 little ones here) I agree with your points and have subbed. Nice one!🎉
When I was studying in the United States, a classmate once told me that he was dragging his suitcase down the streets of Seattle in the early hours of the morning when he was followed by several people. Fortunately, a taxi driver came along and urged him to get in quickly; otherwise, he might have been in danger. In contrast, in China, we often stay out late for midnight snacks until two or three in the morning and then walk home without a second thought.
That is Sweet!! I wish I be there and didn't have to Worry about American Hate all the time.
Great video! The feeling of safety is something that many of us in the USA have no concept of anymore. In my city, crime is rampant and unavoidable, it just wears you down. Would love to see more of your videos and one of how you met your spouse!
OMG!
In western society, a CCTV doesn't mean anything when criminals are on the loose and get away with anything they can afford.
Crossing beautiful Xinjiang since 10 days ago and no crime, vagrancy, forced labour and oppression to report.
Surveillance cameras do not simply monitor people to curb crime. They collect a large amount of data such as the flow of people, vehicles, natural disasters, etc. in a certain period of time. These data are used to more conveniently manage cities and traffic.
I am currently on my fourth trip travelling in China with my Chinese girlfriend. I'm from Australia and blown away for all the points that you say. I have one more to add... It's so futuristic. I am flying along the freeways of the Yunnan province in a quiet fast mostly self-driving electric vehicle, at a fraction of the price to rent and recharge compared to other places in the world. I love it here
Living in China is really like living in the future! I want to make a video about this one day in the future 😄

Owning a car is not so good now in many countries. My insurance has gone up by about 15% even though the insured amount has gone down. Then there's the price of fuel that keeps going up because of the fracturing of global supply chains. Unfortunately, my country doesn't have the convenient public transport that China has.
Me too. I hate driving and owning a car is expensive in Canada. But after doing grocery shopping by bus for 2 long and cold Canadian winters, I realise not owning a car while living in the suburb is impossible.
I would live in China if I could.

China is not perfect, but the few plus points you said about living in china are spot on! Living quality, healthcare and the conveniences for the people are very much better than many of the Western countries.

Yes a 144th ranked healthcare system is so much better than those healthier , living longer Europeans. Cancer rate survival important?Doctors per citizen ratio is appalling . So full of shit.
Living quality? Like all those days off work. Awful.

Driving 30 mins for a pharmacy is "near". Last June we walked across the homeless and boarded-up city centres...and very limited food offerings. That's my memory for a vacation. Did you just described paradise?

It turned out that the mat was affecting the door closing. I just remembered taking a bottle of drinking water when I left, pressing the tailgate close button, and then leaving. Surprisingly, the door did not close successfully and opened for 2 hours.
