Food for thought: I think Rocky Balboa is nerfed by the WVBA ruleset. The matches are only 3 rounds, 3 minutes a piece. Rocky's biggest strength, by far, is his endurance. His whole schtick is going the distance against even the toughest opponents, wearing them down bit by bit until he can clench his iron jaw and dramatically wail into them once they're exhausted. Such circumstances can't really exist in the WVBA. On the flip side, this allows fighters like Bear Hugger, who would realistically gas out around the middle rounds of a 12-round event, can more-or-less keep their foot on the gas from round 1. Anyone whose seen a Butterbean or Tank Abbott (MMA, but whatever) match can tell you how huge of a deal that is. That's also pretty big for the completely shredded dudes in the World Circuit, who's body fat percentages are so low they'd gas out quick because muscles require much more water and oxygen than fat, as well as being worse at storing and transporting it. Just something I thought about watching this video. Good stuff.
Also Food for thought: the WVBA ruleset on moves is near completely ignored, most people aren't even really boxing which helps Rocky believe it or not. Rocky has more experience on the streets, before his professional career he was literally doing shakedowns for organized crime. With this I think Rocky does go the distance against many opponents, such as Aran Ryan that was given 1-4 odds (Ryan favored) in this video should be far closer even Rocky favored. On top of this I think Rocky could beat Sandman although it is a long-shot. Ivan Drago could punch with 2,150 PSI on a "normal punch" being measured which depending on the size of his glove (4 square inches according to those who have bothered to calculate this all) would put Drago's punch at 4 tons of force. Sandman's feat due to the vague nature of the comic style could be multiple punches over an afternoon, multiple punches is what is suggested but we have no idea of how many punches nor the strength of the bricks. Drago could theoretically do this in an afternoon assuming his fist don't break in the process. It is worth noting, measuring punches in PSI could have been an accident on part of the writing staff but that has never been confirmed. As such we can conclude Rocky can probably take a few of even Sandman's serious hits, if he can be hammered by Drago and get out with his life, I think a few hits by Sandman won't be enough to end the Italian Stallion. Which really brings the issue to what you said, Rocky might have a chance in a longer fight but 3 rounds to beat someone that could take him out in 1 if he isn't careful is just not practical. If it were 15 rounds I would give Rocky a solid 30% chance against Sandman, as it stands with only 3 rounds, I would say betting odds start at 1-10 in favor of Sandman.
I personally think the three rounds are just the players perception of how long the fights are so the player does not actually have to play 12 rounds. I think in the actual universe they probably do go the full 12
Not related to much of your comment, but butter bean did have his share of boxing matches. He actually had a much better time in boxing than mma, because his forte is, well, boxing, and his weakness is kicks ( multiple head kick KOS) his submission game… idk, he’s gotten heel hooked by a tiny Brazilian man, but he has also gotten a key lock win. Sorry if this was unnecessary, but I’m an mma freak, can’t help it.
For unneeded clarification: I think it was because the Boxing Glove Aran uses for his Flail is broken, which means it would be unallowed to use in boxing
After reading all the Punch-Out!! Comics I can confirm that Don probably launched the bull juuuuuust above the coliseum sense he has enough time to talk to Carmen and flex before the bull crashes back down… right on top of him… and he was fine, so I’d say Rocky loses against Don, but he’d also lose against Sandman sense he’s shown to be much more powerful than any other combatant
Honestly how it would go is that Rocky and the opponent will get each other low and then Rocky keeps egging the opponent on to hit him and then he counters their attacks and continues to beat him up until they’re on the floor
The Nick Bruiser story's floated around a couple of times but it's worth noting that Nick didn't even exist until the SNES Super Punch-Out came out. I've also heard that instead the 1 win was vs. Gabby Jay (who also got his 1 win in another match against Joe), so it's best to not take anything as written-in-stone gospel.
i don't think don flamenco's cockiness is a sign of understimating you so much as it's a facade. He's trying to look good in front of his fans, but underneath the surface he's still focusing on winning. He's constantly taunting and baiting you to make you fight poorly, and trying to catch you off guard. When you knock off his toupee he drops the facade and goes all out. just kinda the vibe i got
I think Rocky 2 might take the whole thing. He might not have the power, but he has Mickey who has enough strategic knowledge to count as Rocky's star punches and with one of his speeches, could reset the table in round 3 and give him a boost. Mickey is Rocky's actual secret weapon and while it might not get him past Sandman in the end, almost everyone get's a whole lot easier.
If Little Mac can tank essentially everything they throw at him and he’s 17 a minor and like 100 pounds Rocky a 6 foot Italian beast that could easily plow through every single fighter in the game and especially if he was on the same cartoony level as them and Rocky would have time to prepare for harder fights like Sandman and if this is a real and the boxers from punch out came in to real life to fight Rocky would win because their tells are way too big and long and Rocky wouldn’t be stationary try unloading a dreamland express when someone’s walking away Rocky would win easy maybe not the title defense fights

If Rocky was in Punch Out, he'd probably have 10 times as much health as everyone else. Maybe you can knock him down once or twice in the ENTIRE match but never KO or TKO him. The guy took hundreds of 2145-lb punches from a Russian superhuman super boxer.

Finally, someone who put some respect on Super Macho Man’s name. The man’s an absolute showboat and a cocky, spoiled SOB, but he’s still a damn good boxer. I don’t believe the idea he “paid” his way to the top before getting whooped by Sandman, he was truly champion-caliber. But like you said, underestimating his opponents is his downfall. And that’s what got him KO’d by Sandman, Little Mac, and now Rocky

I think a lot of people forget that sometimes combat athletes put on characters or have those larger than life personalities. I mean, have you SEEN the unhinged rants Tyson himself goes on? I could totally see a Mr. Macho Man existing in real life, which can't really be said for much of the other boxers.

Rocky taking on Punch-Out's opponents would be quite a sight. You're essentially putting someone from real life into a more cartoony world. Just love to see his reactions to these boxers. . . in fact. . . :) Glass Joe: Rocky questions how this guy is even still going at it, considering how much of a pathetic push over he is. He doesn't take it easy on him and gives him a good licking, though maybe he gives his Balboa wisdom to him when the match is over, maybe lighten the load a bit for the poor guy. Von Kaiser: Learning this guy got beat up by kids he was training he'd also question how this guy is still in the ring. Though he has a bit more respect than pity that he keeps on fighting, and the fact he clearly suffers from shell shock. I could see these guys talking about their history after the match is over. Disco Kid: This dancing buffoon definitely makes Rocky wonder just where the WVBA finds these guys, and how this is all up to snuff. Though considering his cocky and laid-back to a fault attitude, he'd use this match as a teaching opportunity for him: don't underestimate and goof off when your boxing. King Hippo: This is the point where Rocky legitimately questions the sanity of the WVBA for finding a giant beast like him. His usual strategy does work against him, though him over-eating does make Rocky pause and wonder how he doesn't have like a cholesteral problem. Piston Hondo: Rocky definitely respects this guy the most. He's serious, takes the sport serious, heck I could see these guys being pretty chill with each other. . maybe even friends. Bear Hugger: Rocky definitely doesn't believe the whole "trained by a bear" thing, but his overly mocking attitude and cockiness tick him off greatly. He just punches him out just to get him to be quiet. Great Tiger: Another arrogant weirdo that Rocky humbles. Though his magic tricks definitely give Rocky lots of pause, but he adjusts fairly well, probably even lectures him about relying so much on tricks and junk. Don Flamenco: So far, this is Rocky's least favorite guy. He's arrogant to a fault, doesn't take the fight seriously, and is a glory hog who underestimates him greatly. Rocky just serves his ass on a platter, and especially takes advantage of his toupe situation. Aran Ryan: Rocky. . DOES NOT LIKE ARAN RYAN . .at all. He's a blatant and proud cheat, beyond crazy, and shows little to no respect for the field or the people around him. The moment he outright throws the referee aside, all bets are off, and Rocky lets him have it. Heck, how bout a variation on the "you knock him, why don't you try knocking me down" line from Rocky V when the referee thing happens. Soda Popinski: Rocky's getting Ivan Drago flashbacks from this guy, especially in this TD fight with the "Soviet Superscience" thing. Though Soda is a lot more of a boisterous and proud guy that Rocky does significantly have more respect for him. Bald Bull: Rocky is wondering how this raging bull, pun very much intended, ever got a boxing license. It might be for show, but Rocky doesn't really care about that, when you're threatening to EAT folks and tossing your weights into the crowd where someone could get hurt, that's where Rocky draws the line. He's knocking him down just so somebody doesn't get hurt. Super Macho Man: He's an arrogant, spoiled, pampered FOP more than a boxer. Rocky barely gives this guy any time or thought of the day when he beats him. Mr. Sandman: Rocky may not be able to beat him, but he might still give him hell. A champion like him having such a superiority complex, lording his title as if he was some kind of god, and being an undefeatable man who puts down his opponents and mocks them, Rocky is gonna give this guy humble pie. He might not knock him out, but he IS gonna give him a heck of a time bringing him down. Break through the iron and reveal just what kind of man he truly is. A better victory I'd say is making Mr. Sandman lose his cool and make an absolute BEAST of himself, and how he mocks the profession.
Gotta be honest coming off micks death in rocky 3, i don't know if Rocky wouldn't kill Aran as Micks whole carrer was ended by a boxing organization that doesn't have or enforce rules letting someone stuff their glove full of nails.
Sylvester Stallone did all of the intros for Rambo when he got added to MK11. A large amount of his intros is just asking the other characters about their weird, magical cybernetic, afterlife, ghost filled lore and going "...that's fucked up, man" I can't help but imagine him as Rocky doing the same with all of these weirdos.

My personal headcanon for Don flamenco being able to punch a bull into the air but not deal as much damage in punch-out is two-fold. One, he knows bullfighting inside and out, he knows the bull will go down a predictable path straight towards him and he'll be able to give one solid strike at full force. Against a boxer, he can't be sure his attack will land, so putting his all into the attack is kinda shortsighted, even then he's seen overextending and leaving himself open, just imagine how bad it would be for him if he put that much force into a punch and *didn't* hit something, he'd send himself flying forward and probably down onto the mat.
Except the fact One:he was standing still when the bull charge at him Two:he used a single hand Three:he would need to have the durability of being able to send that bull flying without his hand becoming paste that means even if you don't think with your weird head canon he would still scale to the feat Four:even if the bull threw the match it can't make himself lighter to be thrown twenty feet in the air to possibly more Five:your nonsense scenario won't happen since he did the feat standing still and with one arm so he won't need to take any actions that will see himself flying one straight punch while standing still would turn rocky to paste

And consider this as well, telegraphed is don flamenco's whole damn thing, until his toupe is knocked off, he almost entirely works off formulas that can be predicted. Against anyone with a single braincell, *especially* normal boxers who use a moderate mix of face and body blows, he's really not going to be an issue.
I haven't watched the Rocky films, so I've never thought about this question, but this definitely made for an interesting video with a novel concept! (Also, a Title Defende video sounds cool)
According to Sylvester Stallone himself, Rocky could beat Rambo as long as he doesn't fall to the ground. Rambo was able to dodge a bullet and even ripped out a person's throat with brute force, move a military truck (with help of 3 persons), resist being shocked for hours etc. He is also much better than Muhammad Ali, who we know exists in the Rocky universe, thanks to the fact that he appears referenced in "Creed", but even so, Apollo was the champion and was always mentioned as the best of all, so we assumed that he was superior to Ali. So Rocky could definitely beat several punch out boxers, although he falls behind some with even more superhuman feats.
@@RedShocktrooperRSTYes he could. Clubber Lang is heavily based off Tyson and if Rocky can ride out Mike's power, than Rocky can probably take it in the 9th or 10th round. Tyson took people out around the 3rd or 4th round and wasn't used to going further. Rocky's concrete jaw and ability to switch footing would just make him too much for the dynamite kid.

But yes, outside of the universe Rocky is a disaster as a boxer and wouldn't get that far even with his resistance, most of his opponents would simply keep their distance until they won by decision if they didn't knock Rocky out first.

Essentially Stallone just says Rocky could beat Rambo in a boxing match, which is probably valid, but I don't think he'd beat him in a 'true' fight.
Fun fact: Von Kaiser's 'trauma' isn't trauma at all, the exact scene shown in-game is expanded on in the comics where it's actually his shock as being so easily knocked down, and only having one day left to get back in shape. The children laugh, but not at his pitiful display but because children laugh at people making funny noises when they're hit. They're even cheering him on in the last panel.

Nice video! There are a few things I would like to point out which remained unmentioned or I otherwise have a comment on: 1. Compared to Little Mac, Rocky is FAR heavier, with far more developed muscles. This ultimately means that Rocky would hit harder, and effectively have more 'health' than Little Mac. Rocky also fights like a real boxer, instead of standing in the middle of the ring and letting his opponent move around while he dodges; he WILL go up and punch them if he sees a chance. 2. A lot of the boxers are weaker than their intros can sometimes indicate, by their weight. Normally, when facing an individual like Mr. Sandman under similar circumstances, the 'expected' outcome of a match between their weight classes is someone by Little Mac taking a single hit to the hospital. We also observe the contenders that Little Mac faces not being that resilient to his punches. Even considering the cartoony physics, this likely means that they are not as durable as they look, which gives an opening for most contenders to be beatable by Rocky. 3. King Hippo, while still clearly taller than Rocky, will be much closer to Rocky in height. This means Rocky's face punches will hurt him more, unlike the scratch damage Little Mac does to the face. 4. Bullfighting, as a profession, is generally done in several stages and explicitly involves the bull being injured by a third party so that in the final part where the bull is killed, it is more likely for the matador to survive. As this finishing blow is done with a sword, however, Don Flamenco defeating a bull with a punch, regardless of whether we take the height the bull thrown to be literal or metaphorical, is frightening in power, as the bull appears to not even be injured at all. I think the only reason Rocky stands a chance is because Don Flamenco is acting cocky, no question asked. 5. Unironically, Aran Ryan actually is not as bad of an opponent for Rocky. Aran fights insane, but it has many extremely telegraphed attacks. Putting horseshoes in his boxing gloves is intimidating for your listed reasons until you realize that the way he put them in would distribute the force of the blow a lot more than traditional brass knuckles, and they would also be cushioned by the rest of the glove, however slightly they can with the visible cloth. Aran's headbutt, while nasty for Little Mac, is one of the first injuries we ever see him take in Rocky 1. While he certainly can hit hard, I don't think Rocky gives him the chance to do much. I would put the fight about as a 60% chance in favor of Rocky. 6. Mr. Sandman is strong enough to punch down buildings when he is blinded with rage. Since he is not that angry during the fight, I PRESUME he isn't hitting that hard, especially because actually killing your opponent would probably actually be punishable, even if kidnapping by a great ape isn't. As it wasn't covered, this is my opinion on how all the Title defenses change things: Glass Joe: The headgear means that Joe might be less injured at the end of the battle. And I question if it would do literally anything considering Rocky is still pretty much twice his size. Still has that minuscule risk of randomly winning, but still would not have changed that much. Von Kaiser: He is a lot more focused with this version of the fight in comparison to the original, and he has some nasty moves that can knock out even Little Mac in one hit. That being said, he likely can still be rushed by Rocky. He possibly can now knock down Rocky once, but I honestly don't think that he is capable of doing more than that. Disco Kid: Unironically, despite being more agile, I think he is arguably worse than his first appearance. Rocky's far more aggressive fighting style wouldn't let up for the Boxercising's agility to matter. King Hippo: Vast improvement, now that his weakness is protected. Rocky could still knock this off similar to Little Mac, but I don't think he is quite as willing to punch a sewer grate. I think instead he would switch to face shots more - even with better height and strength compared to Little Mac, this battle is going to be a slog. I would still call it for Rocky. Piston Honda: He hits harder, and is more agile than the first fight. While it is hard to put exact numbers on how this would change the fight, Rocky went from fighting the average boxer to fighting one of his final opponents in the movies. Any victory is going to be hard-fought. Bear Hugger: He is a bit more evasive, and he is a bit more resilient when he is stunned, but otherwise he is pretty much the same. Of course, this is still a fight between Rocky and a guy twice his weight, but Rocky's odds only slightly tilt against him. Great Tiger: Okay, his magic is starting to get genuinely ridiculous. The extra clones also could make it so Rocky actually has to figure out which is which. I would still put it on Rocky, as the weight class difference still benefits him by a bit, but he has a good chance of losing by decision, even if he can't lose by knockout. Don Flamenco: Well, he is actually taking the battle seriously, and he is far more evasive to boot. Rocky is most likely losing this 99% of the time, unless Don Flamenco's overdramatic taunts leave him vulnerable for Rocky to get the TKO. Aran Ryan: Ironically, he stopped stuffing his gloves, so his punches are weaker. Further, his flail, while presumably stuffed, he is not actively holding, and there is no such thing as a cutscene in a real fight, so Rocky wouldn't even let him get it out with his attacks. Sure, it will HURT if he manages to swing it, but he basically gave up his one advantage. He is also a bit faster, but he's not outboxing Rocky now. Soda Popinski: He's doing steroids. He is certainly stronger, and he can heal casually if he drinks more. We are reaching the limit of what Rocky could realistically defeat, but I think he still has an (admittingly longshot) chance of victory here. It is at least more obvious that SOMETHING is happening with the Soda, so maybe he'll realize he has to deal with it? Bald Bull: Congrats, the Bull Rush is now not a weakness. Honestly, I think Rocky loses. Bald Bull literally took a bull to the face, and beyond being pushed back was fine. If we ignore the fact he still takes damage from Little Mac, Rocky could not hurt him at all. If he does win, it would be by decision. Super Macho Man: Somehow still cocky as hell. He is a bit faster, but I would probably say Rocky's chances are basically identical, seeing as he taunts more often than in the original fight, though for shorter periods, leaving more openings. Mr. Sandman: He is quicker, and stronger than before, when he already had an advantage in both. He wins here, like he did in the original fight. Donkey Kong. Let's ignore that its DK for a sec and lay it out there: A human is statistically weaker in every way in physicality to a Gorilla. DK is stronger than a Gorilla. Rocky is going to be kidnapped at the end of this is the only conclusion.
Also, the Intros are canon so I’d take it to mean it’s superhero logic where they go much faster and hit much harder than their physical stats would imply, rather than the other way round
This was quite entertaining. By the way, Bear Hugger's record is listed wrong, it's 17-12, not 29-12. Soda Pop's record is also 33-2, but it is listed as 35-2.

There's one thing overlooked here. Little Mac himself. Technically, Little Mac trades blows with Sephiroth, Cloud, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and so on. His power level is NOT a human power level. He is less the strength of a traditional boxer and more akin to a Marvel character. By that logic, that means that the majority of the title defense fight intro sequences are probably depictions of real strength, and it really just doesn't look that powerful in-game because Little Mac just really is that dude that can tank those kind of shots. Little Mac could probably give Spider-Man some bruises. Realistically, Rocky isn't even able to score a knockout out King Hippo and has to win on accuracy of hits alone after a long, exhausting fight. Piston Hondo would be the toughest fight of his career, or at least as tough and as damaging as Ivan Drogo. Bear Hugger will shrug off Rocky's hardest hits like being slapped with wet newspaper, then he'll break every bone in his body. Anyone after bear hugger, even without the cheap gimmicks, turn him into red paste. Everyone after the minor league is simply on another power level. I'm not even sure if Mike Tyson could beat anyone on the world circuit, and I don't think Rocky could be Mike Tyson. They called him Iron Mike, but even Iron Mike can't take actual iron to the face with horseshoe boxing gloves.

Nah, both theaters of WW2 end in 1945, April 30th to May 8th for the European theater and May to September 2nd for the Pacific theater. Von Kaiser could have been a 3yo child soldier in Germany.
It's also possible that world history plays out differently in the Punch-Out universe. The characters may come from familiar locations, but that doesn't necessarily mean events had to follow the real world's timeline as well. Considering how characters like Great Tiger and Mr. Sandman surpass what humans are capable of, it might as well be an alternate Earth entirely. This answer is nothing more than speculation, though.
The general assumption, I would guess, is that they’re just in the same world and physics + stats are equalized so that there is more of an interesting discussion than being totally 🤓 about it.
To add, there is some acknowledgment of boxers Rocky might lose to and a bit of the powerscaling thing, but again, the latter makes the discussion slightly less fun/come to a dead end.
If you wanna make the Sandman fight even more bleak for Rocky - if he manages to survive long enough to encounter the Dreamland Express, he can't even exploit that. Sandman is the ONLY boxer who explicitly covers his weaknesses and focuses on dodging when he's taunting, and any one of those powerhouse hits could easily send Rocky to the mat
Rocky is the exact opposite of Little Mac in his fighting style: Where as Little Mac strongly emphasizes defensive fighting and dodging. Rocky just blocks all the punches with his face.

That just wouldn't work: Mac is under-aged, too short and too light to fight the heavy-weights and, unlike in his universe, body classes actually exist in rocky's universe, so he legaly woudn't be allowed to fight, and even if they let him he still won't be able to fight rocky's opponents because of body classes Now, if they somehow allow him to fight rocky's opponents it still wouldn't work because little mac is OP, he is really fast and agile, has some crazy reflex and, even though he doesn't deal a lot of damage, if he has the star punch is game over, I mean, he defeated Mr sandman IN 3 ROUNDS, if he was able to do that i'm 100% sure he is able to defeat ivan drago in 3 rounds and the rest as well There are only 2 things that could make mac lose: 1. He isn't specially tanky and rocky's boxers doesn't have a pattern so he'll have to work extra hard to dodge and get hit as less as posible 2. Mac is used to 3 rounds fight so I don't think he would be able to fight as long as rocky, he would wear down just like drago's son in creed 2

I have recently have been on a weird hyper fixation on Punch Out from seeing a vid of the Cheating Infractions for each Punch Out Opponent in the Wii game and soon Super Punch Out (Bumbles McFumbles). I gotta say this was really cool to watch, and I LOVED the little “Back To The Video” Card Art you made of your character boxing. Also that would mean for the first 3 years of Von Kaiser’s life was constantly filled with threats of bombing and invasion till Germany’s defeat and the separation of East and West Germany would basically be a major defining point of his life. Just commenting before I finish the video, I was really hoping you were gonna pick Rocky 3 Rocky. He had the strategy, but he was also the fastest and had the most endurance. The sharpest and he could take almost as much abuse as Rocky 4 Rocky. And he would have both Creed and his head trainer at his corner. And 3 Rocky had some insane strength too still being able to lift up Thaddeus Thunderlips. 3 or 4 were definitely his best iterations and you could probably argue 4 Rocky would still superior speed wise. Just my two cents lol.

In Rocko's defense, he did fight Thunderlips to a draw. It's no where near the weight disparity between him and Bear Hugger, but it does show he can hold his own with fighters that massively outweigh and are taller than him.
Food for thought: I think Rocky Balboa is nerfed by the WVBA ruleset. The matches are only 3 rounds, 3 minutes a piece. Rocky's biggest strength, by far, is his endurance. His whole schtick is going the distance against even the toughest opponents, wearing them down bit by bit until he can clench his iron jaw and dramatically wail into them once they're exhausted. Such circumstances can't really exist in the WVBA.
On the flip side, this allows fighters like Bear Hugger, who would realistically gas out around the middle rounds of a 12-round event, can more-or-less keep their foot on the gas from round 1. Anyone whose seen a Butterbean or Tank Abbott (MMA, but whatever) match can tell you how huge of a deal that is. That's also pretty big for the completely shredded dudes in the World Circuit, who's body fat percentages are so low they'd gas out quick because muscles require much more water and oxygen than fat, as well as being worse at storing and transporting it.

Also Food for thought: the WVBA ruleset on moves is near completely ignored, most people aren't even really boxing which helps Rocky believe it or not. Rocky has more experience on the streets, before his professional career he was literally doing shakedowns for organized crime. With this I think Rocky does go the distance against many opponents, such as Aran Ryan that was given 1-4 odds (Ryan favored) in this video should be far closer even Rocky favored.
On top of this I think Rocky could beat Sandman although it is a long-shot. Ivan Drago could punch with 2,150 PSI on a "normal punch" being measured which depending on the size of his glove (4 square inches according to those who have bothered to calculate this all) would put Drago's punch at 4 tons of force. Sandman's feat due to the vague nature of the comic style could be multiple punches over an afternoon, multiple punches is what is suggested but we have no idea of how many punches nor the strength of the bricks. Drago could theoretically do this in an afternoon assuming his fist don't break in the process.
It is worth noting, measuring punches in PSI could have been an accident on part of the writing staff but that has never been confirmed.
As such we can conclude Rocky can probably take a few of even Sandman's serious hits, if he can be hammered by Drago and get out with his life, I think a few hits by Sandman won't be enough to end the Italian Stallion. Which really brings the issue to what you said, Rocky might have a chance in a longer fight but 3 rounds to beat someone that could take him out in 1 if he isn't careful is just not practical. If it were 15 rounds I would give Rocky a solid 30% chance against Sandman, as it stands with only 3 rounds, I would say betting odds start at 1-10 in favor of Sandman.
I personally think the three rounds are just the players perception of how long the fights are so the player does not actually have to play 12 rounds. I think in the actual universe they probably do go the full 12

He actually had a much better time in boxing than mma, because his forte is, well, boxing, and his weakness is kicks ( multiple head kick KOS) his submission game… idk, he’s gotten heel hooked by a tiny Brazilian man, but he has also gotten a key lock win.

Comics I can confirm that Don probably launched the bull juuuuuust above the coliseum sense he has enough time to talk to Carmen and flex before the bull crashes back down… right on top of him… and he was fine, so I’d say Rocky loses against Don, but he’d also lose against Sandman sense he’s shown to be much more powerful than any other combatant
Honestly how it would go is that Rocky and the opponent will get each other low and then Rocky keeps egging the opponent on to hit him and then he counters their attacks and continues to beat him up until they’re on the floor
The Nick Bruiser story's floated around a couple of times but it's worth noting that Nick didn't even exist until the SNES Super Punch-Out came out. I've also heard that instead the 1 win was vs. Gabby Jay (who also got his 1 win in another match against Joe), so it's best to not take anything as written-in-stone gospel.

I think Rocky 2 might take the whole thing. He might not have the power, but he has Mickey who has enough strategic knowledge to count as Rocky's star punches and with one of his speeches, could reset the table in round 3 and give him a boost. Mickey is Rocky's actual secret weapon and while it might not get him past Sandman in the end, almost everyone get's a whole lot easier.
If Little Mac can tank essentially everything they throw at him and he’s 17 a minor and like 100 pounds Rocky a 6 foot Italian beast that could easily plow through every single fighter in the game and especially if he was on the same cartoony level as them and Rocky would have time to prepare for harder fights like Sandman and if this is a real and the boxers from punch out came in to real life to fight Rocky would win because their tells are way too big and long and Rocky wouldn’t be stationary try unloading a dreamland express when someone’s walking away Rocky would win easy maybe not the title defense fights

Glass Joe: Rocky questions how this guy is even still going at it, considering how much of a pathetic push over he is. He doesn't take it easy on him and gives him a good licking, though maybe he gives his Balboa wisdom to him when the match is over, maybe lighten the load a bit for the poor guy.
Von Kaiser: Learning this guy got beat up by kids he was training he'd also question how this guy is still in the ring. Though he has a bit more respect than pity that he keeps on fighting, and the fact he clearly suffers from shell shock. I could see these guys talking about their history after the match is over.
Disco Kid: This dancing buffoon definitely makes Rocky wonder just where the WVBA finds these guys, and how this is all up to snuff. Though considering his cocky and laid-back to a fault attitude, he'd use this match as a teaching opportunity for him: don't underestimate and goof off when your boxing.
King Hippo: This is the point where Rocky legitimately questions the sanity of the WVBA for finding a giant beast like him. His usual strategy does work against him, though him over-eating does make Rocky pause and wonder how he doesn't have like a cholesteral problem.
Piston Hondo: Rocky definitely respects this guy the most. He's serious, takes the sport serious, heck I could see these guys being pretty chill with each other. . maybe even friends.
Bear Hugger: Rocky definitely doesn't believe the whole "trained by a bear" thing, but his overly mocking attitude and cockiness tick him off greatly. He just punches him out just to get him to be quiet.
Great Tiger: Another arrogant weirdo that Rocky humbles. Though his magic tricks definitely give Rocky lots of pause, but he adjusts fairly well, probably even lectures him about relying so much on tricks and junk.
Don Flamenco: So far, this is Rocky's least favorite guy. He's arrogant to a fault, doesn't take the fight seriously, and is a glory hog who underestimates him greatly. Rocky just serves his ass on a platter, and especially takes advantage of his toupe situation.
Aran Ryan: Rocky. . DOES NOT LIKE ARAN RYAN . .at all. He's a blatant and proud cheat, beyond crazy, and shows little to no respect for the field or the people around him. The moment he outright throws the referee aside, all bets are off, and Rocky lets him have it. Heck, how bout a variation on the "you knock him, why don't you try knocking me down" line from Rocky V when the referee thing happens.
Soda Popinski: Rocky's getting Ivan Drago flashbacks from this guy, especially in this TD fight with the "Soviet Superscience" thing. Though Soda is a lot more of a boisterous and proud guy that Rocky does significantly have more respect for him.
Bald Bull: Rocky is wondering how this raging bull, pun very much intended, ever got a boxing license. It might be for show, but Rocky doesn't really care about that, when you're threatening to EAT folks and tossing your weights into the crowd where someone could get hurt, that's where Rocky draws the line. He's knocking him down just so somebody doesn't get hurt.
Super Macho Man: He's an arrogant, spoiled, pampered FOP more than a boxer. Rocky barely gives this guy any time or thought of the day when he beats him.
Mr. Sandman: Rocky may not be able to beat him, but he might still give him hell. A champion like him having such a superiority complex, lording his title as if he was some kind of god, and being an undefeatable man who puts down his opponents and mocks them, Rocky is gonna give this guy humble pie. He might not knock him out, but he IS gonna give him a heck of a time bringing him down. Break through the iron and reveal just what kind of man he truly is. A better victory I'd say is making Mr. Sandman lose his cool and make an absolute BEAST of himself, and how he mocks the profession.
Gotta be honest coming off micks death in rocky 3, i don't know if Rocky wouldn't kill Aran as Micks whole carrer was ended by a boxing organization that doesn't have or enforce rules letting someone stuff their glove full of nails.

My personal headcanon for Don flamenco being able to punch a bull into the air but not deal as much damage in punch-out is two-fold. One, he knows bullfighting inside and out, he knows the bull will go down a predictable path straight towards him and he'll be able to give one solid strike at full force. Against a boxer, he can't be sure his attack will land, so putting his all into the attack is kinda shortsighted, even then he's seen overextending and leaving himself open, just imagine how bad it would be for him if he put that much force into a punch and *didn't* hit something, he'd send himself flying forward and probably down onto the mat.
Except the fact
One:he was standing still when the bull charge at him
Two:he used a single hand
Three:he would need to have the durability of being able to send that bull flying without his hand becoming paste that means even if you don't think with your weird head canon he would still scale to the feat

According to Sylvester Stallone himself, Rocky could beat Rambo as long as he doesn't fall to the ground.
Rambo was able to dodge a bullet and even ripped out a person's throat with brute force, move a military truck (with help of 3 persons), resist being shocked for hours etc.
He is also much better than Muhammad Ali, who we know exists in the Rocky universe, thanks to the fact that he appears referenced in "Creed", but even so, Apollo was the champion and was always mentioned as the best of all, so we assumed that he was superior to Ali.
So Rocky could definitely beat several punch out boxers, although he falls behind some with even more superhuman feats.
I guess it comes down to almost asking "could Rocky hypothetically beat Mike Tyson in his prime?"

Fun fact: Von Kaiser's 'trauma' isn't trauma at all, the exact scene shown in-game is expanded on in the comics where it's actually his shock as being so easily knocked down, and only having one day left to get back in shape. The children laugh, but not at his pitiful display but because children laugh at people making funny noises when they're hit. They're even cheering him on in the last panel.

1. Compared to Little Mac, Rocky is FAR heavier, with far more developed muscles. This ultimately means that Rocky would hit harder, and effectively have more 'health' than Little Mac. Rocky also fights like a real boxer, instead of standing in the middle of the ring and letting his opponent move around while he dodges; he WILL go up and punch them if he sees a chance.
2. A lot of the boxers are weaker than their intros can sometimes indicate, by their weight. Normally, when facing an individual like Mr. Sandman under similar circumstances, the 'expected' outcome of a match between their weight classes is someone by Little Mac taking a single hit to the hospital. We also observe the contenders that Little Mac faces not being that resilient to his punches. Even considering the cartoony physics, this likely means that they are not as durable as they look, which gives an opening for most contenders to be beatable by Rocky.
3. King Hippo, while still clearly taller than Rocky, will be much closer to Rocky in height. This means Rocky's face punches will hurt him more, unlike the scratch damage Little Mac does to the face.
4. Bullfighting, as a profession, is generally done in several stages and explicitly involves the bull being injured by a third party so that in the final part where the bull is killed, it is more likely for the matador to survive. As this finishing blow is done with a sword, however, Don Flamenco defeating a bull with a punch, regardless of whether we take the height the bull thrown to be literal or metaphorical, is frightening in power, as the bull appears to not even be injured at all. I think the only reason Rocky stands a chance is because Don Flamenco is acting cocky, no question asked.
5. Unironically, Aran Ryan actually is not as bad of an opponent for Rocky. Aran fights insane, but it has many extremely telegraphed attacks. Putting horseshoes in his boxing gloves is intimidating for your listed reasons until you realize that the way he put them in would distribute the force of the blow a lot more than traditional brass knuckles, and they would also be cushioned by the rest of the glove, however slightly they can with the visible cloth. Aran's headbutt, while nasty for Little Mac, is one of the first injuries we ever see him take in Rocky 1. While he certainly can hit hard, I don't think Rocky gives him the chance to do much. I would put the fight about as a 60% chance in favor of Rocky.
6. Mr. Sandman is strong enough to punch down buildings when he is blinded with rage. Since he is not that angry during the fight, I PRESUME he isn't hitting that hard, especially because actually killing your opponent would probably actually be punishable, even if kidnapping by a great ape isn't.
As it wasn't covered, this is my opinion on how all the Title defenses change things:
Glass Joe: The headgear means that Joe might be less injured at the end of the battle. And I question if it would do literally anything considering Rocky is still pretty much twice his size. Still has that minuscule risk of randomly winning, but still would not have changed that much.
Von Kaiser: He is a lot more focused with this version of the fight in comparison to the original, and he has some nasty moves that can knock out even Little Mac in one hit. That being said, he likely can still be rushed by Rocky. He possibly can now knock down Rocky once, but I honestly don't think that he is capable of doing more than that.
Disco Kid: Unironically, despite being more agile, I think he is arguably worse than his first appearance. Rocky's far more aggressive fighting style wouldn't let up for the Boxercising's agility to matter.
King Hippo: Vast improvement, now that his weakness is protected. Rocky could still knock this off similar to Little Mac, but I don't think he is quite as willing to punch a sewer grate. I think instead he would switch to face shots more - even with better height and strength compared to Little Mac, this battle is going to be a slog. I would still call it for Rocky.
Piston Honda: He hits harder, and is more agile than the first fight. While it is hard to put exact numbers on how this would change the fight, Rocky went from fighting the average boxer to fighting one of his final opponents in the movies. Any victory is going to be hard-fought.
Bear Hugger: He is a bit more evasive, and he is a bit more resilient when he is stunned, but otherwise he is pretty much the same. Of course, this is still a fight between Rocky and a guy twice his weight, but Rocky's odds only slightly tilt against him.
Great Tiger: Okay, his magic is starting to get genuinely ridiculous. The extra clones also could make it so Rocky actually has to figure out which is which. I would still put it on Rocky, as the weight class difference still benefits him by a bit, but he has a good chance of losing by decision, even if he can't lose by knockout.
Don Flamenco: Well, he is actually taking the battle seriously, and he is far more evasive to boot. Rocky is most likely losing this 99% of the time, unless Don Flamenco's overdramatic taunts leave him vulnerable for Rocky to get the TKO.
Aran Ryan: Ironically, he stopped stuffing his gloves, so his punches are weaker. Further, his flail, while presumably stuffed, he is not actively holding, and there is no such thing as a cutscene in a real fight, so Rocky wouldn't even let him get it out with his attacks. Sure, it will HURT if he manages to swing it, but he basically gave up his one advantage. He is also a bit faster, but he's not outboxing Rocky now.
Soda Popinski: He's doing steroids. He is certainly stronger, and he can heal casually if he drinks more. We are reaching the limit of what Rocky could realistically defeat, but I think he still has an (admittingly longshot) chance of victory here. It is at least more obvious that SOMETHING is happening with the Soda, so maybe he'll realize he has to deal with it?
Bald Bull: Congrats, the Bull Rush is now not a weakness. Honestly, I think Rocky loses. Bald Bull literally took a bull to the face, and beyond being pushed back was fine. If we ignore the fact he still takes damage from Little Mac, Rocky could not hurt him at all. If he does win, it would be by decision.
Super Macho Man: Somehow still cocky as hell. He is a bit faster, but I would probably say Rocky's chances are basically identical, seeing as he taunts more often than in the original fight, though for shorter periods, leaving more openings.
Mr. Sandman: He is quicker, and stronger than before, when he already had an advantage in both. He wins here, like he did in the original fight.
Donkey Kong. Let's ignore that its DK for a sec and lay it out there: A human is statistically weaker in every way in physicality to a Gorilla. DK is stronger than a Gorilla. Rocky is going to be kidnapped at the end of this is the only conclusion.

Also, the Intros are canon so I’d take it to mean it’s superhero logic where they go much faster and hit much harder than their physical stats would imply, rather than the other way round

There's one thing overlooked here. Little Mac himself.
Technically, Little Mac trades blows with Sephiroth, Cloud, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and so on. His power level is NOT a human power level.
He is less the strength of a traditional boxer and more akin to a Marvel character.
By that logic, that means that the majority of the title defense fight intro sequences are probably depictions of real strength, and it really just doesn't look that powerful in-game because Little Mac just really is that dude that can tank those kind of shots. Little Mac could probably give Spider-Man some bruises.
Realistically, Rocky isn't even able to score a knockout out King Hippo and has to win on accuracy of hits alone after a long, exhausting fight. Piston Hondo would be the toughest fight of his career, or at least as tough and as damaging as Ivan Drogo. Bear Hugger will shrug off Rocky's hardest hits like being slapped with wet newspaper, then he'll break every bone in his body.
Anyone after bear hugger, even without the cheap gimmicks, turn him into red paste.
Everyone after the minor league is simply on another power level. I'm not even sure if Mike Tyson could beat anyone on the world circuit, and I don't think Rocky could be Mike Tyson.

It's also possible that world history plays out differently in the Punch-Out universe. The characters may come from familiar locations, but that doesn't necessarily mean events had to follow the real world's timeline as well. Considering how characters like Great Tiger and Mr. Sandman surpass what humans are capable of, it might as well be an alternate Earth entirely. This answer is nothing more than speculation, though.

Rocky is the exact opposite of Little Mac in his fighting style: Where as Little Mac strongly emphasizes defensive fighting and dodging. Rocky just blocks all the punches with his face.

If Little Mac Was In Rocky 1-6
That just wouldn't work:
Mac is under-aged, too short and too light to fight the heavy-weights and, unlike in his universe, body classes actually exist in rocky's universe, so he legaly woudn't be allowed to fight, and even if they let him he still won't be able to fight rocky's opponents because of body classes
Now, if they somehow allow him to fight rocky's opponents it still wouldn't work because little mac is OP, he is really fast and agile, has some crazy reflex and, even though he doesn't deal a lot of damage, if he has the star punch is game over, I mean, he defeated Mr sandman IN 3 ROUNDS, if he was able to do that i'm 100% sure he is able to defeat ivan drago in 3 rounds and the rest as well
There are only 2 things that could make mac lose:
1. He isn't specially tanky and rocky's boxers doesn't have a pattern so he'll have to work extra hard to dodge and get hit as less as posible
2. Mac is used to 3 rounds fight so I don't think he would be able to fight as long as rocky, he would wear down just like drago's son in creed 2

I have recently have been on a weird hyper fixation on Punch Out from seeing a vid of the Cheating Infractions for each Punch Out Opponent in the Wii game and soon Super Punch Out (Bumbles McFumbles). I gotta say this was really cool to watch, and I LOVED the little “Back To The Video” Card Art you made of your character boxing. Also that would mean for the first 3 years of Von Kaiser’s life was constantly filled with threats of bombing and invasion till Germany’s defeat and the separation of East and West Germany would basically be a major defining point of his life. So he could have some trauma from that point in his life.
Just commenting before I finish the video, I was really hoping you were gonna pick Rocky 3 Rocky. He had the strategy, but he was also the fastest and had the most endurance. The sharpest and he could take almost as much abuse as Rocky 4 Rocky. And he would have both Creed and his head trainer at his corner. And 3 Rocky had some insane strength too still being able to lift up Thaddeus Thunderlips. 3 or 4 were definitely his best iterations and you could probably argue 4 Rocky would still superior speed wise. Just my two cents lol.

In Rocko's defense, he did fight Thunderlips to a draw. It's no where near the weight disparity between him and Bear Hugger, but it does show he can hold his own with fighters that massively outweigh and are taller than him.
You forgot that Rocky has his own superpower, the ability to remember the montage he had, which spontaneously gives him the energy to win
