If you somehow survive that preemptive attack and take it out, provided you can also take out the last 2 forms, you enter a secret developer room and earn a secret ending out of it!
So the 1999 AD apocalypse is really a repeat of this event in 12,000 BC. I wonder if their society became more advanced in tech and they re-discovered (and exploited) some energy source that turned out to be Lavos.
I think Lavos was artificially awoken in 12,000 BC and naturally awoke in 1999 AD. Lavos in 12,000 BC awoke right under Zeal and when he fired his lasers, he mostly hit Zeal. Thus saving the rest of the world from armageddon
@@scottgrasser9737 Still it saved the world from the destruction. The way the game describes it, it seems like the 1999 AD apocalypse won't allow the world to return to normal (until the plant seed was found), while the 12.000 BC apocalypse was mostly blocked by Zeal, allowing the world to rebuild itself. Oddly enough, either way it seems like even though the apocalypse happens, humanity survives.
@@johnbishop9621 hard to say 11,000 years later man was only in the medieval ages also i watched a great lore video on the game by lorerunner and he points out it seems in the future the reason humans are perma screwed this time seems to be because of the robots but one great thing about the games is how it lets you make your own head cannon ^-^
@@scottgrasser9737 I also believe the perma-screwed theory. After all the 12.000 BC to 1000 AD timeline is technically parallel to the timeline of real world humanity. I also just remembered that the fall of Zeal and Lavos emergence ended the Ice Age in 12.000 BC, which was actually a hood thing for humanity
Well, Schalia wasn't killed iirc. However, she's basically fused with the Dream Eater from the DS version. I think Chrono Cross goes into more detail, but I never played it.
I've wondered about that. Was he planning on fighting it at all? Or was part of the ritual some kind of banishing? Drag it up out of the earth and then dump it into the sun.
Kefka isn't the only one who destoryed the world Zeal even ruled forever in the Dark Omen over the skies in thoery I think Queen Zeal was more powerful then Kefka
not only they have technology, they also have magic. so of course they became more advanced. what make me wonder is, why they didn't just expand to other planets?
Because 2300 is so ruined it doesnt look futuristic, but if you played Chrono Cross, 2300 ad ruins looks futuristic so they probably just didnt show much of the era in Trigger
One of the most memorable moments of the game!
What happens if you defeat lavos there?
If you somehow survive that preemptive attack and take it out, provided you can also take out the last 2 forms, you enter a secret developer room and earn a secret ending out of it!
this is the point when this game when from good to great. chrono trigger truly shines when the quests and pacing become completely open-ended

Its sad knowing that Chrono, Schala and many civilians from the Kingdom were killed.
20 yrs later I found this... some how idk why it didn't affect me as it does today

If Marle is with party, her dialogue is most sad and important, which reason it's my favorite scene.
i've never had marle in my party at this part, i might do that next time i play through the game
The same if you have Luca, I had both at the same time, and ngl, it was sad
Thanks for the video. This was such a huge moment...
Magus was so cocky. Really thought he could take on Lavos alone
I've wondered about that. Was he planning on fighting it at all? Or was part of the ritual some kind of banishing? Drag it up out of the earth and then dump it into the sun.
And then he has the audacity to mock Crono for being weak. Heh.

It's pretty pointless to compare a planetary parasite with a human.
How can be zeal kingdom so futuristic than 2300 A.D.
They were using Lavos's power to enrich their own kingdom with magic. Eventually when Lavos was temporarily defeated all of the magic drained away
