Chrono Trigger 016: The Kingdom of Zeal

- So we are in the Dark Ages, or as the DS update calls it, Antiquity. The folk that can use magic live as gods on a floating continent called the Kingdom of Zeal. The ones that can't are called the Earthbound Ones and are shunned since they can't use magic. It sucks I guess.
Remember for the the cities, Water Summons Wind, Wind Makes Fire Dance. A Nu will say that but not for a while, so try it out in Enhasa and Kajar. If you lose to the Nu, they will call you weaklings, so get revenge and stuff on them. Remember to heal, and that they have two types of attacks. One will take away only one HP and the other will take away all of your HP but one. They give you a ton of exp and tech points. Then another area you can access will give you the Black Rock.
We find out that one of us will shortly perish and are all worried. Confused might fit the bill better though. That kid is the prince, Janus. He has blue hair, and a cat that follows him everywhere. People think that he isn't skilled in magic, but he is... Then there is Schala. Schala is a kind-hearted young woman that has a pendant like ours, only hers can glow and stuff. So we go to the Mammon Machine and get our Pendant powered up. Now we can access doors sealed with Lavos energy.
Dalton will summon a Golem to take you out. It seems that if you attack it fast enough, it can't make out what to do, but don't keep it on Physics forever. As you might have noticed, that attack is super powerful. It seems the weakest one is Ice or Water magic counters, so try to get it trapped in that mode. On the other hand, you don't really have to win this battle. You will get the same cutscene pretty much, Dalton will just be pleased with himself instead. Why he didn't seal us in a pyramid in the first place is beyond me.
Schala comes along with Janus and saves us. Then the Prophet comes along and saves us too. He sends us back into the Portal we came through and now we have to go and find another way back to that time period. Perhaps the Wings of Time can help us out...
This is the best game of all time.
That is true
wonder what a full on ps5 reboot be look like
There’s no online, no world pvp how the hell can this be considered one of the best games of all time? It’s only you vs computer generated monsters… so boring… lol
@@Toxieqt How do you manage to keep the drool in your own mouth?
@@Toxieqt Online has its ups and downs if it even stands the test of time, while self-contained greatness is forever.
Song is so good
This game still gets me even after all these years.
"This is the eternal kingdom of Zeal, where dreams can come true.
But at what price?" 9:01
...The Blackwind howls...one among of you will shortly perish...
Happy 25th anniversary! Chrono Trigger!!! ^^
1:41 that little weird boy ending up being Magus was greatest reveal!
I love the time dynamic of being so far back in time to make everything feel alien and otherworldly, yet not so far back as in prehistory to let your imagination run too wild. There's also the uncomfortable aspect that they were far more advanced 13K years before Chrono's time, and then the tragedy of seeing it all get crushed for the pursuit of more power, with the world going thru a dark age.
Kinda like when the Library of Alexandria burned. So much ancient knowledge is forever lost to human pettiness.
This part is when everything else makes sense.
The best part of the game
I have recently finished it for the first time and agree 100%. The game grows and grows until it reaches its peak in zeal
This music 🔥
Could've saved a shelter by going to that spring of recovery next to the lightning book.
That happened to me this time, I used one, and STILL hit the spring unintentionally!! Dammit.
Big bumpin bass Zeal.
somehow the distorted audio makes Corridors of Time sound even cooler
Perhaps the best, if not one of the best sound tracks in a video game
Man this takes me back 😢 wow.
This brings back so many memories, probably my best experience with a videogame.
Its been a few years. Not sure when I'll get the chance to play it again!
been 9 my friend where has time gone and i dont know if we can play it again
@@ares4466 this comment fucked me up bad.
@@adamplentl5588 yeah i shed a tear tinking about it
@@ares4466 shit like that gets me. Like we can never really go home once we grow up because home is as much a time as it is a place, and time keeps on going.
@@adamplentl5588 could not of put it in better words. I remember the exitment of me coming home to play it and get lost in a fantisy, times has really changed and i just want the game where i could forget about reality to come back to me so bad.
Floating mountains are a possibility, if you understand the laws of physics.
_Welcome ._
_Those clouds , by the way ? . Those are glaciers ._
my favorite part of the game
Does someone know if we can actually climb to the north palace with all the weapons??
Fantastic!
Use aura whirl
Why not using the hp mp restoration point, rather than cure or ethers?
I don't remember why I did what I did in this game anymore, but I appreciate your comment.
I probably forgot the restoration point was there.
It would've been better of the ancient people were brown
What's wrong with them being white in a fantasy game made by Japanese people?
Why
Maybe my favorite area of any video game, just so memorable when I first ran into it
