2000 Chevy Tahoe Installing 6 Inch Rough Country Suspension Lift Kit

- Today we are doing an install on a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. This is an 6" Rough Country Spindle lift with coils in the rear. You do have to have aftermarket wheels if you have stock 16 inch wheels. This will give you the DIY of doing a Suspension lift kit at home without a fancy lift like the shops have, it is a little more work crawling around under the vehicle, but we are going to show you it can be done. Great video really help me out just got a Tahoe and wanted to lift it myself thanks
Great video. Used it to help guide myself through a few install steps because rough country sent instructins for a leaf spring setup even though it was a coil kit lol.
amazing video
Thank you
Nice job.
I’ve been wanting to do my own 6inch lift on 2001 suburban. This video gives me more confidence.
Thank you!
Thanks for watching
Just did the same lift on my 02 suburban. It's really not that bad. The biggest pain is the torsion bars if you have frozen keys and grinding down the front diff.
That looks great!
Thanks
I would have used that time to clean all that up too. Degreaser. Scrub. Sand blast. Paint. When it's lifted you see all that. Change out those wheel well plastics or just pitch em.
If it was mine I agree
I have seen people put a thread insert on the bump stop extension instead of the self tappers
Excelente trabajo, gracias por el video explicado. Cuanto costó el kit y la mano de obra.
Lo aprecio.
🔥🔥🔥🤘
Thank you
Just did this to my avalanche. Have a buddy hhelp. The front end parts aren't light at all and as I upgraded upper and lower control arms i was worn out by the end of the day alone
Awew, I wish I got to see more of the tahoe. Didn't get to see the stance or angles or anything after the lift was done 😮
I'll have to get with the owner and get you some more footage
more footage at the end next time with before and after will greatly help
Sorry was rushing at the end to get back to the owner
Hello, is this supposed to sit/rest on the bump stops in the front when it’s done?
Looks great but I had one question how down do you grind down the fins on the trans axle
We used a handheld 4" grinder I bought from Harbor Freight, nothing fancy
le queda a la avalanche 1500 2003 ?
What size tires are those, and did they rub at all? Looks great!
34 inch, had to trim front plastic a little
Was this a leveling 6” lift or did this kit keep natural take in the back ? If it’s just leveled could you lower front alittle with torsion keys ?
It kept the natural rake
How many hours do you reckon this was total? Apparently you don't recommend to your customers that that they add the kicker bar option frim RC ??
Fizzybillylah did a video on using 2008 CV axles in this year Tahoe so that you can get rid of the spacer....just an option..
We took our time, so it was about 8 hours
Where do you get the rear kit? Rough country only has the front available. I have a 01 Tahoe
Owner purchased and brought to me, he did get all parts from 4 wheel parts store
Did u have to repace the drive shaft mines a awd 04 tahoe
We did not on this one
Is ot necessary for the cv joint axle spacer?
Yes it is
@BenFierro79 kool thanks. Never lift ifs. Always old straight axle chevys
Does the Avalanche 1500 2003 have any left?
I believe it's the same
Wait so why can’t you run stocks after lifting it 6inches? What changes that? The lug pattern ? Or because it will look silly or what
Back spacing, won't clear the new dropped spindles
@@BenFierro79 ohhhh okay say less thank you for letting me know that.
Did you guys installed the rear shock backwards???
No, but we did have to remove the spacers due to the owner bought extended shocks and did not use factory length shocks
Can you bolt the stock 16 inch rims on it just to move it around
Not stocks, aftermarket with right offset maybe
Kinda late to the party but it depends. If your truck came stock with 17s then no you can't run 16s. If it came stock with 16s like mine you can. I have this same exact lift setup with a few other goodies and I had too wheel it out of my buddies garage on the 16s with 255s on it because of clearance issues.
@Admiral_Potato41 my 02 z71 came with 17 inch stocks. I've got 16 inch mickey thompson wheels on it now. They have some offset, but if they fit now would they fit with the lift?
Will this fit a 05 suburban
This kit on Rough Country site is SKU 28040, the kit for suburban is SKU 27940, installations are the same I believe
What size rear shock?
The extension allows for factory length, this one owner ordered shocks with lift for additional length
Could you provide a link to both the kit and wheels? It may be good to have an Amazon affiliate link to get yourself some commission.
Owner brought me wheels and tires from local shop and Rough Country lift came from 4 Wheel parts
