Swallowtail Jig Playalong (Getting Faster) Advanced Level

- This is the third of three playalong videos designed to help you increase speed and accuracy at playing the tune Swallowtail Jig. In this fiddle lesson you can play along with the Swallowtail jig as it slowly speeds up, moving gradually from 87bpm to 120bpm. You can play a lot faster but that is a fairly comfortable end place for me. When you can reach the end of this Swallow Jig Playalong, then try out some of my other playalong videos.
The fiddlers way is a channel aimed at helping you learn folk and traditional tunes.

I did it! I played at top speed. Thank you so much for helping me out!
Great job well done!
I usually love your workup on these songs but this one just doesn't sit right with me😞
Oh sorry to hear that Judi, is there a reason it’s not working for you? I’m always trying to improve these videos so all feedback is really helpful!
What key is this in? I use these videos to learn songs on the harmonica.
E minor - or to be more precise, E dorian, the scale with a flattened third, a raised sixth and a flattened seventh. It’s the second mode of the D major scale so shares the exact notes with that scale, therefore you can use a D major harmonica!
Thank you so much for this video!! I'm learning the violin. I'm a begginer. I'm currently studying the Gavotte from the Suzuki's book 2. And I play Swalowtail Jig everyday. I can play well along with video till the middle of this video. When I try to play even faster I mess up because my left hand is not fast enough so I will practice with your video till it sounds good. Thank You!!🙏
Hi Liliana, thanks for this comment, hope you are finding the videos useful for speeding up your left hand! Enjoy the journey and the results will come! 😊
Trying to learn fiddle after years of the Suzuki method. These videos really help me, thanks so much
Ahh, great to hear your finding these videos helpful. You must have a good basis from your Suzuki training. Keep at it!
This vídeo inspired me to record again! Thank you very much. This harmonic arrangement is very cool.
Thanks a lot Tiago - what have you recorded in the past and what are you inspired to record now?
I can do this!!! 5 months playing violin and I can play this!! Yesss😁 thank you so much for these videos.
Great, well done Liliana 👏
