Hi, I have just done this play along in preparation for our Wessex Strings' concert tomorrow - we are going to play 'The Foggy Dew', your arrangement of string ensemble version tomorrow live in Sherborne. I am looking forward to it!
I play along with you on Bodhran, which I am just learning, I play piano, but I want to learn the Irish drum because our local Celtic jam doesn't have a Bodhran Player.
Charles, great stuff! Love this tune; I had just learned it on the whistle. Can I pay for a full-speed version where the melody track is turned down to barely perceptible, so I can whistle along without hearing the melody on the track?
Hi there! Thanks for your comment and I’m so glad you enjoy this tune, it is a great one isn’t it? 😊 Yes, if you check out the link in the description it should take you to this backing track on my website, where you can purchase your own copy of either SLOW or FAST backing track WITH or WITHOUT the melody. Hope that helps :) Do let me know if you have any more queries and how it goes 🙂
Great work!! I absolutely love it!! Have spent the last two hours in my car after work, whistleling to your backing tracks;) i would love it, if you did the dunmore lassies as a backing track version!! Greetings from Germany
Greetings, hallo 👋 ! And thank you very much, that is really wonderful to hear! 😊 I will definitely add that track to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
Cheers for the tune! Allthoug I play the song for 25 years now on the guitar I only Started to learn fiddle just recently. And your lessons correspond perfectly, downloaded the sheet music aswell :). A bit strange was the „a g a“ bit before you Go „h g a h g f#…“ in the Second Part. Thanks anyway and greetings from germany!
That's really great to hear and thank you for your comment! Danke schön! And I think I know which bit you mean in the second part; something a little different to try perhaps? :) Greetings and best of luck with the fiddle, let me know how it goes!
I can play that tune beautifully by myself, how come as soon as i add other back ground music i go completely to shots lol ?? Any idea as to how to overcome this problem....
Great question! To be fair, playing on your own is very different to playing with others which is again very different to playing with a backing track. One tip for playing with accompaniment is to listen more closely to the rhythm and bass to ground the beat and the chords. Another tip for a slower tune like this, is to make sure not to rush the notes; you probably have more time than you think.
@@CharlesHarrisonMusic Thanks for the tip i'll try that :) i think maybe also our own drive for perfection gets in the way i am forcing myself to ignore slip ups and just keep going with the tune despite the mistakes .
@@markc1234golf Yes, to be honest that is definitely part of it! Perhaps treat it a bit like a live performance in which you just carry on through any slip ups. The more practice you get at that, the less mistakes there will be :)

Greetings from England! That sounds amazing. I’ll have to visit Galway/Ireland one day too. I’ve heard the pub sessions are incredible! 😊🎶
Good afternoon... maybe we'll meet in Galway and play some Irish music together???
Maybe we will! I’d look forward to it. 😊🎶
Just played this on Cello! It's beautiful!
I bet it did! Your cello playing sounds beautiful 😊 You should post more videos on UA-cam! 😃
@@CharlesHarrisonMusic I am far to nervous for that! Better to be the secret gem! The myth behind legends! 😉😉
There’s nothing to be nervous about. Your playing is always wonderful and I’m sure people would enjoy the performances :) But that’s fair enough. 😊
Your video is so clear and your backing trucks are always brilliant!
Thank you! That is good to know 🙏

That’s awesome! I love Bodhran and it adds so much to an ensemble. You’ll become the beating heart of the group!
Thank You@@CharlesHarrisonMusic
