This was a great game. Stephen deserves the point for unique best theme deck for sure. Though a pity point for Jon wouldn't be a travesty for having the guts to cast an Epic spell that early in the game.
Save the playlist on your profile. They won't pop up in your feed but it's not like you watch this on a whim so whenever you have time you can check it.
Here's how big Kalonian Hydra actually got. It had 4 +1/+1 counters, then the trigger would have put 4 more, but instead putting 16 counters, making it a 20/20 creature. Solidarity of Heroes would have put 20 +1/+1 counters, but instead 80 are put, so in the end Wes had a 100/100 Kalonian Hydra.
Really though, everyone knows that Suarez rocked season 1. His Norin deck was one of the funnest decks i've ever seen, that Keranos finish was god like and his play, in my opinion, has been the best and most consistent.
+Ye Won K. Suarez is my favorite out of the group. Followed by Wes, I feel bad that they pick on him so often. But his Hydra Tribal resembles mine in the fact that I draw most of my deck a majority of the games it is played.
I love your commander versus series, it is always enjoyable to watch you all play. I'm happy to see how this turns out. As a suggestion... I'd love to see more commander versus with Planeswalkers!
This video was really good guys. The volume was a bit low but appart from that, you all looked like you were there just to have fun. Really enjoyable to watch !
+Tyler Ostrowski Yep, same here. The nephilim would be really fun to see, just not the one that gets bigger and then gets trample, he's the only boring nephilim.
If Lord of Extinction had trample he could assign damage equal to Progenitus' toughness and the rest would trample over to Wes. The damage assigned to Progenitus would just be prevented.
+Thorsten Böhme The only thing I could think is that since Stephen was involved in combat, priority passes to him first, since he Maze of Ith'd, che prevented the combat damage and so even IF Progenitus had blocked, it wouldn't be the one saving Wes from the damage, effectively forcing a save for the points? Even that sounds wonky
@ 1:13:51 when Justin deals 3 damage to Wes' Managorger Hydra with his Omnath trigger, he would not have killed it because Wes forgot to put a +1/+1 counter on the Hydra from casting Polukranos.
Whether this gets seen or not, I just wanna say what you guys do is awesome and if the opportunity ever arose I would definitely wanna play edh with you guys! Keep up the great work!
+tiny turtle sadly that's not how protection from everything works, which is why it dies to wrath effects which don't target it or do damage, including deed
1:07:45 No, the copies of Enduring Ideal do not count as spells being cast. They are copies of the spell being put on the stack, but he isn't casting them. This is why Enduring Ideal gets around Dovescape.
Cromat is an Illusion according to Gatherer. I guess Delusions of Grandeur wanted even grander delusions and became a creature. Also, huzzah for a Progenitus - Hydra Tribal deck!
+WallsEryx I've been thinking of trying Reaper King for five colour artifacts. Had a blast with Karn Colourless so I thought about trying something else artifact based and theres so many useful artifact support cards if you go five colour.
Epic point has to go to the huevos grandes on Suarez for firing off Enduring Ideal that early. Props to him for making the fun play for the audience. I also loved the Mirror Entity + token creator synergy.
Loved this game. Would be killer to see a guild wheel game. Each player builds 2 decks themed from Ravnica with Ravnica generals, and the Director creates the remaining two guilds as dud decks. Each player can't interact with eachother when building so they only know the decks they built - 2 week series so you'll cover 8 of 10 decks. Would be fun and let's be honest, Ravnica generals are crazy good :)
i agree on nephilim generals for a video! Justin with Yore-Tiller (recursion shenanigans) Witch-Maw for Stephen Green (fatties counters deck) Ink-Treader for Wess (instants and sorceries and tricks and cryptic command) and for Jon Suarez, Dune-Brood (tokens, lots and lots of tokens)
+ZakanaHachihaCBC very well. I ask here and now that Stephen Green's Name be in the Color Green for at least one week. I for one will ask what no one else did. Also to note, Green is the color I request! Not yellow-green, cerulean, aqua, light green, dark green, turquoise, or any other color that spawns because of mixing in green.... Just plain Normal Green.
A "Planechase" game using only the Lorywn and Shadowmoor plane cards, everyone running a deck with "2 commanders" The Lorywn Legendary and its Shadowmoor version. They act as a transformation card, changing depending on the plane. So Ashling would be a Black/Red deck, Sygg would be Esper, Wort would be Jund, Rhys would be Abzan.
at 1:25:00 did Steven really save Wes from Justin? The Lord of Extinction did not have trample and Wes blocked it. Even with the bloodrush from Rubblehulk, it doesn't give trample.
I would love to see a lorywn themed week using the lorywn versus their shadow moor selves like one using ashling the pilgrim and someone else using ashling the extinguisher
at around 1:32:30 when the bury all creatures with power 4 or greater, they say that kills progenitus, but he has protection from everything so shouldn't he have been fine
+alex richman He can't be targeted by anything, blocked by anything, enchanted, equipped and damaged by anything but he can be bounced, exiled, destroyed etc. by spells that don't target.
Cromat is creature type Illusion, if no one has answered for them. It does look like a weird, giant, carnivorous caterpillar though, with wings and longer legs at the bottom. Stephen should've told them, "Cromat me, bro."
I'm super confused on why every time Suarez tapped forbidden orchard why Justin had to give up the token. I looked all over for an answer and am still at a loss. If someone could tell me why i'd appreciate it. Also I love the theme of this video.
I think it would be interesting to see all of you play the same commander. It would let the viewers see the differences between all of your deckbuilding decisions and play decisions when put in a similar situation.
Maybe I'm missing something, but did Stephen save Wes the first time he used maze of ith? Rubblehulk doesn't give trample, lord of extinction doesn't have trample, and Justin doesn't have brawn in his yard. So blocking with Progenitus (which Wes did) would be enough to save himself.
@Star City Games, this is an old video, but, i love those hippo tokens. My friend has a Phelddagrif edh deck, and i would like him to have some of those tokens. They are not sold on your website or anywhere else. Is there any chance that i would be able to get some for him for Christmas?
As a big fan of this current series I would really love to see some tribal out of you guys. But not the usual tribal like goblins that you see everyday. I'm talking Snakes, Moonfolk, Merfolk and changelings or such things. (I know Wes will like the shapeshifters)
You guys got the Doubling Season/Primal Vigor triggers wrong. It would go to double, putting four counters on it. Then Primal Vigor doubles that, making it eight counters placed on it. Then Doubling Season doubles THAT, making sixteen counters.
Lastly yes in fact cromat is now under the illustrious creature type of illusions, so he most be the imperfect vision what people think the ultimate creature would be, as he does everything a player would want including win.
Is it just me, or should Justin have lost 2 points for his search on Conflux? 1 for 40 seconds, another for another :30 since he was 1:16 (at 1:50:15 in the video)?
Am I misunderstanding something or was Wes incorrectly using Collective Restraint? At no time he controlled any basic lands. Unless ABUR duals count as basics?
I think John could've had a better shot if he had ordered his searches better. He could've gotten Solitary Confinement, then Dovescape, then (did he have this in his deck?) Night of Souls' Betrayal and locked everyone out of casting anything. Then the rest of his enchantments could've slowly gotten him the win. I love epic spells, and I've played Enduring Ideal before in a Commander deck, but it's all about the ordering. Still, great game, and way to go Stephen! Love walls, nice to see them kick butt.
Have to say IDC what Troy picks, Stephen by far stuck to his theme the best because what do walls do best protect people. Thank you maze of ith for your kind generous ways.
This was a great game. Stephen deserves the point for unique best theme deck for sure. Though a pity point for Jon wouldn't be a travesty for having the guts to cast an Epic spell that early in the game.
Overall volume is a bit low. :\
Yea, I had my volume at max and almost got a heart attack when the first ad played. Please fix the volume.
same.
+PrinnyDood Lol ich seh einen Prinny bei nem Commander Video ^_^ Grüße
If I could sub to just Commander vrs instead of star city games I would
Save the playlist on your profile.
Biggest creature in magic history?
To me, Wes Wise was the season one winner
+alekk miennert Justin Parnell may fancy himself season one champion, but Wes will always be the champion in out hearts.
That Phage finish was epic.
+Ye Won K. A lot of people who know nothing but FNM/kitchen table don't like competitive players, therefore Suarez gets shafted. C'est la vie.
I love your commander versus series, it is always enjoyable to watch you all play. I'm happy to see how this turns out. As a suggestion... I'd love to see more commander versus with Planeswalkers!
excited to see what this season brings. this satisfies my commander addiction until the end of the week
Words cannot express the joy in seeing this video up today! Cheers to the new season!
This video was really good guys. The volume was a bit low but appart from that, you all looked like you were there just to have fun.
Really enjoyable to watch !
I just started the video and I'm beyond thrilled to have you guys back. GO TEAM GREENE
Glad to see you guys back and I want to see the nephilim as your generals ( yes I know they are not legendary but should be fun)
+Tyler Ostrowski I am actually ok with this. I would approve if they worked the Nephilim in.
+Tyler Ostrowski Yep, same here. The nephilim would be really fun to see, just not the one that gets bigger and then gets trample, he's the only boring nephilim.
Also, they should build the decks around the Nephilim abilities.
+Tyler Ostrowski Agreed, that would be really fun.
There should be 4 legends we have all kinds of legends except 4c
Neither Lord of Extinction has trample, nor does Rubblehulk give trample. I don't get how Steven saved Wes. Progenitus blocks it just fine
I didn't get this either. Could someone please explain?
I think they made a mistake. Progenitus blocked it and there was no visible way for it to gain trample when Stephen Maze of Ithed it.
Even if it has trample, lord of extinction can't kill progenitus so it would never deal excess combat damage to Wes
God bless commander versus is back. It's great to see these guys again.
Great game! I have a 5-color deck with Cromat as my Commander, so this video did me proud!
Great to see this series back, looking forward to all that is to come.
1:26:46 Bloodrush Rublehulk doesnt give trample , how would Wess have died if he blocked with Progenitus ??
So stephen didnt save save him.
jace is like a wheelbarrow and sylvan library is like a shovel I just died there
12:10 "Maybe one day we'll be able to have a card viewer on the side of the screen" 😂😂
@ 1:13:51 when Justin deals 3 damage to Wes' Managorger Hydra with his Omnath trigger, he would not have killed it because Wes forgot to put a +1/+1 counter on the Hydra from casting Polukranos.
Atogatog, my precious. So glad to see another game with him in.
New intro is pretty sweet. Props to the graphic designer behind that one.
You are back for season 2!!! Hooray!!!!!
Yes!! Thank you Justin for winning! I can continue watching.
Yay! Such a wonderful opener to a no doubt amazing series ^_^
Whether this gets seen or not, I just wanna say what you guys do is awesome and if the opportunity ever arose I would definitely wanna play edh with you guys! Keep up the great work!
I feel like that zebra playmat is the season 2 winner
Just to note: pernicious deed could have killed progenitus if activated for 10 or more. it doesn't target ;)
+0ld1eye and the managorger wasn't a 3/3
+Aaron Lindsey among other things
progenitus has protection from everything not shroud. nothing can affect it
+tiny turtle sadly that's not how protection from everything works, which is why it dies to wrath effects which don't target it or do damage, including deed
+Sam Rooney but progenitus has protection frm wraths
1:07:45 No, the copies of Enduring Ideal do not count as spells being cast. They are copies of the spell being put on the stack, but he isn't casting them. This is why Enduring Ideal gets around Dovescape.
Can't believe Wes had a Progenitus into play and didn't attacked every turn with it... just unexpected.
Deck tech starts at 8:41
Gameplay starts at 17:10
Hopefully I saved someone some time not listening to stuff that they could care less about.
as a MTG beginner, these videos help me a lot. thank you
Cromat is an Illusion according to Gatherer. I guess Delusions of Grandeur wanted even grander delusions and became a creature.
Also, huzzah for a Progenitus - Hydra Tribal deck!
So excited for the new season
What, no Reaper King?
+Ben they already did Child of Alara
+WallsEryx I've been thinking of trying Reaper King for five colour artifacts.
Had a blast with Karn Colourless so I thought about trying something else artifact based and theres so many useful artifact support cards if you go five colour.
LOUDER! Please :-P
And Wes gets my vote for coolest deck. Hydra Tribals... I never would've thought of that :D
the Commander Revolution keeps marching on!
Audio is a bit low guys. Turn it up!
Tribal walls for the win man. Steven wins in my book for just running Obelisk of Alara.
Epic point has to go to the huevos grandes on Suarez for firing off Enduring Ideal that early. Props to him for making the fun play for the audience. I also loved the Mirror Entity + token creator synergy.
Cromat looks like something designed for Godzilla to fight!
low volume, but I'm so excited for the return of this series
1:58:07 Noise and Justin's score card show up without changing his score (should've gone from 0 to 2). Wouldn't want Troy to feel left out :p
this is class, great vid guys!
Props to Stephen on that bloodstained mire fetch.
Game start: 17:05
I would love it if you guys played a deck with the 4 new OATHS and a lot of planeswalkers! Thanks for the videos!
Steven Green, in the red seat? Red Green? I loved that show!
awesome game!!!! glad you guys are back
You are welcome Justin! My vote gave you the win.
Can there be an innistrad theme when we go back to innistrad? And have tribal zombies, werewolves, humans, vampires, angels, etc decks
That new intro is fire, fam.
You're back! :D
I love five color commander decks. It gives you so many options to work with.
Justin with Yore-Tiller (recursion shenanigans)
Witch-Maw for Stephen Green (fatties counters deck)
Ink-Treader for Wess (instants and sorceries and tricks and cryptic command)
and for Jon Suarez, Dune-Brood (tokens, lots and lots of tokens)
Is there anyway to increase the volume on your videos? Its really quite in game.
50:05 would wes' collective restraints still work? wouldn't his x be 0?
Why is Steven still not green it's so ughghghg
People asked for him to not be yellow.
Great video lads, can't wait for the season!
Great game!!! Excited for the new season
I like these older videos but man it's impossible to hear them without headphones
Darn, a few weeks later and we could have gotten Tazri!
are justin misst 2lanfall triggers at 1:46 on onath or got i something wrong
Can you imagine if someone was running Vulturous Zombie with all the discarding Wes was doing from huge hand sizes?
DAmmit! Why didn't I vote?! I wanted Suarez to win, wah! Thanks for the videos guys they are friggen awesome!
I got the Florida joke rip gore
Nice Tribal Hydras! I'm trying to make a deck with every hydra in it
at 1:25:00 did Steven really save Wes from Justin? The Lord of Extinction did not have trample and Wes blocked it. Even with the bloodrush from Rubblehulk, it doesn't give trample.
Wes coming in clutch on that vote!
Invasion Block was a sweet format! I played Black/Blue control with Warped Devotion + Recoil / Rushing River and Nightscape Familiar. :)
I would love to see a lorywn themed week using the lorywn versus their shadow moor selves like one using ashling the pilgrim and someone else using ashling the extinguisher
So pumped for season 2!
John and Stephen switching spots threw me for a loop. xD
at around 1:32:30 when the bury all creatures with power 4 or greater, they say that kills progenitus, but he has protection from everything so shouldn't he have been fine
That's not how Protection works: non damage-based mass removals still get him.
OHHHH, thanks for the info, i had thought protection meant he literally couldn't be touched by it
+alex richman He can't be targeted by anything, blocked by anything, enchanted, equipped and damaged by anything but he can be bounced, exiled, destroyed etc. by spells that don't target.
Cromat is creature type Illusion, if no one has answered for them. It does look like a weird, giant, carnivorous caterpillar though, with wings and longer legs at the bottom. Stephen should've told them, "Cromat me, bro."
Thank u for playing atogatog tribal!!!
y'all should do pauper! Wes will find away to cheatyface cryptic.
+niko stengren
Are there Common legendaries?
In pauper edh you use any uncommon as the general and all 99 cards must have been printed as common at one point
+niko stengren Justin Parnell says he likees Shrikemaw so much, it's a fantastic pauper commander
+niko stengren I agree with pauper.
+niko stengren Needs to happen.....pauper I mean, not cryptic command, never cryptic command
You should make an eldrazi EDH deck vs Sliver vs Karona vs Tarzi
I'm super confused on why every time Suarez tapped forbidden orchard why Justin had to give up the token. I looked all over for an answer and am still at a loss. If someone could tell me why i'd appreciate it. Also I love the theme of this video.
Per Gatherer, Cromat is a Legendary Creature - Illusion.
That might explain why its head does not seem to be attached to it's body.

What if you did Block Commander, where every card in the deck (or at least the vast majority) must be contained in only one set?
Lastly yes in fact cromat is now under the illustrious creature type of illusions, so he most be the imperfect vision what people think the ultimate creature would be, as he does everything a player would want including win.
Is it just me, or should Justin have lost 2 points for his search on Conflux? 1 for 40 seconds, another for another :30 since he was 1:16 (at 1:50:15 in the video)?
Am I misunderstanding something or was Wes incorrectly using Collective Restraint? At no time he controlled any basic lands. Unless ABUR duals count as basics?
A Commander Eldrazi ?
Oooo idea for a theme: everyone uses a graveyard themed deck (bonus points for anyone using Haakon Stromgald Scourge?)
Justin forgot 2 omnath triggers when he evoked the spitebellows to kill his slithermuse, since they both do die from that.
Nice! you should do another 100 bucks decks match :D. I loved the goblins one of those =)
Can someone use a Zur the Enchanter deck? Mostly wanna see Parnell try it out!
I think John could've had a better shot if he had ordered his searches better. He could've gotten Solitary Confinement, then Dovescape, then (did he have this in his deck?) Night of Souls' Betrayal and locked everyone out of casting anything. Then the rest of his enchantments could've slowly gotten him the win. shirei vs heartless hidetsugu vs 8.5 tails vs cloudhoof kirin
Steven Green needs to have his own show, he makes me laugh until i cry.
i think that was actually 32 damage at the end because of kalonians ability stacked with the others
