      @@bluflaam777 Again it's not about how many individual languages spoken in a country. It's how many languages the average citizen speaks. Most only speak 1. Not everyone in China speaks everyone of those "dialects". Most of them speak 1 or 2. That's the point. Also they may not all be native languages but the US also has hundreds of spoken languages (including some indeginous) being a nation of immigrants we have many if not most of those Chinese dialects represented here (especially Fujianese, Sichuanese, Wenzhounese, & of course Mandarin & Catonese. We even have some indeginous Taiwanese laguage representation here). Along with languages from the entire rest of the world.

      @@TRZN91 True. I wasn't trying to start an argument. LOL
      In the US, 1 in 5 speak 2 languages (or more). So, most do only speak one language. But 21% is still a lot of multi-linguistic speaking ppl. But just saying "a lot" (which is what some might say not having a specific number) is also subjective.
      The US (as does China) has a lot of different languages as you pointed out. It may or may not be English. But in order to commune with one's neighbor, it might actually be required to learn more than one language here.
      I believe the same happens in China as well? But I'm guessing. While most speak Mandarin, many speak 2 or more languages. Most vs many = I don't have any numbers. LOL

    I've 100% heard Europeans bash Americans for having Air Conditioning. It's probably the minority who are just bitter people who probably constantly look for reasons to hate America. I’m from the northeast corridor and we have only ever had box units my whole life and they tend to be what you see most often, granted most of our architecture is going to be much older than that of other areas out west so. kinda prefer them also to central air ngl, they cool a room better for sure then central air does.

    When it comes to languages spoken, the USA does not have a national language, unlike France who's national language is French. The USA has a common language, which is English, so that people can communicate with each other. When it comes to guns, I don't own any but my son owns a lot. I live in an open carry state. This means as long as the gun is in view you are allowed to carry it. You can also carry concealed as long as you have a permit. No, you can not go into a bar, with your gun on your hip and be served.

    It boggles my mind that Europeans would choose death, over spending like 200 bucks on Amazon, to get a small window A/C unit. These are not expensive items, in the grand scheme of things. They last for like 20 years.

    • @Timmycoo

      Here in Oregon (at least where I live) post - heat dome where people died, it's illegal for rental properties not to offer an AC unit. Called the "Oregon Renter’s Rights to Air Conditioning Law". I can't imagine living without it lol. I spent ~300 on my portable one and it's a lifesaver on ~110+ days.

    • @Timmycoo
      @Timmycoo 3 місяці тому

      @@Tijuanabill I don't think I explained the bill well enough if that's your takeaway lol. All it does is it's illegal not to give tenants access to an AC unit as long as it does not cause property damage or cause a safety concern. Before I guess some locations banned people from setting up window-mounted units, effecting the power grid etc. This is all before the heat dome that caused over 800 deaths. This bill has caused a lot of mostly company-run locations to install AC units in complexes.
      I bought mine 10 yrs before I moved to Oregon so, yeah. I should've clarified that.

    • @Tijuanabill
      @Tijuanabill 3 місяці тому

      @@Timmycoo No, you explained it fine. I just reject the premise that most laws are passed to benefit the public. The guise of helping the public, is how we ended up with taxi cartels before UBER. They tell the public we need to do X,Y, and Z to protect them, when in reality what they were doing was keeping small taxi companies from forming, due to the prohibitive cost of the consumer "protections". Sometimes it's the plan all along, and other times, they just take advantage.
      But I assure you that Z E R O landlords are just eating the cost of the units, out of the kindness of their hearts. So the public pays for an A/C unit that lasts 20 years, and the fees charged would buy a new unit every year.

    • @Timmycoo
      @Timmycoo 3 місяці тому

      @@Tijuanabill I doubt that portable AC units would have any impact on their bottom line. That's why there's so many restrictions for window units. But you are right, the bill was pumped out originally (even on the news) that it was going to force the landlords to put in AC units. A lot of mass-marketing of ignorance IMO. There is no fee that I've seen. That being said, I'm not sure what the more, impoverished apartments are like. Because you can get a portable AC unit for as low as ~$150 and that'd be good for a bedroom.

    The making fun of Americans for air conditioning absolutely happens, but I think that's mainly from other European countries. I never heard it while I was in the UK or Ireland, but I heard it plenty when I visited France, Czech, Netherlands, and Germany. I've found there are about 8 things you'll hear on rotation while visiting those countries - we love guns, we don't care about the environment and use air conditioning, we are racists, too religious, we're too loud, Trump, your fatness, overly patriotic, arrogant, ignorant, how China will take over the US (for some reason I heard this alot like they can't wait), your fake, that we go bankrupt from healthcare, and that we need socialism to save us (never gonna happen). They aren't even shy about it either haha, especially in France!

    Guns: There are 2 kinds of Americans - gun owners and non-gun-owners. Those who own them tend to have several (or more). But there are many who own none. I live part of the year in Arizona where open carry is legal. But you rarely ever seeing anyone actually carrying one. When I've seen it is mostly at fast food places when ranch hands, who do carry guns for snakes and the occasional mountain lion (or armed drug smuggler) on the open range, come in for lunch.
    Racism: Americans are not at all more racist than other places. They just spend a lot more time dwelling on it and especially trying to combat it. In Asia, racism is intense but ignored.
    Where people live: Do you know the way to San Jose?

      AZ native here. Reason you don't see open carry much in AZ is because concealed carry is 100% legal and allowed in most circumstances to non-felons over the age of 21. Since a lot of people who carry are carrying concealed, you almost never know who is and isn't armed.
      From a self-defense stand point, concealed carry makes a lot of sense because open carry can make you a target for theft or aggression in the event somebody was nuts and doing some kind of "mass shooting" scenario. It makes sense that ranch hands would open carry though, as they might need immediate access to their weapon (and concealed carry sucks for that because you are digging into your waistband or pockets/etc, which isn't good when split seconds matter)
      I believe if you are 18-20, you are only allowed to open carry in AZ (but no concealed carry). You do not need a permit for either type of carry as long as you are legally old enough and not a felon or in some kind of special area where guns are not allowed. You can still obtain a "concealed carry" permit in AZ (CCW), and some people do because it gives a a bit of extra leeway when it comes to things like carrying in normal restaurants that just so happen to also serve alcohol. Normally you cannot carry, open or concealed, in any establishment that serves alcohol in the state of AZ, but CCW holders can carry in a normal restaurant that happens to serve alcohol as long as the establishment allows it and they consume no alcohol.
      I believe carrying is prohibited in all bars throughout the state (meaning establishments that serve no food), and I think there is a law that any restaurant that serves alcohol can still post signs prohibiting firearms, and this sign posted by such an establishment carries the force of law so a person who violated it would face really harsh penalties. Some establishments with these types of signs that aren't mentioned in the actual law don't have the law backing them up, but they can still ask you to leave/trespass you from the premises if you are doing something they don't like, like carrying when they have posted that it is not allowed. So it is generally advisable in AZ to respect the wishes of private property owners/businesses if they have "NO FIREARMS" posted, even if it is not lawful, or to find establishments that don't have a problem with it or even encourage it (you will sometimes see signs that say "POSSESSION OF FIREARMS ENCOURAGED" or something like that in gun-friendly businesses.
      AZ is known as a "constitutional carry" state (meaning our laws are meant to respect the 2nd amendment as much as possible, infringe upon gun ownership rights the least, etc.). I would say most people in developed areas aren't carrying, but of those who do, probably twice as many as that carry in rural areas, probably more. I think the fact that people can easily carry here, along with the state's laws RE: Castle Doctrine, possibly keep people more polite because you never know if the stranger you start to have beef with could end you. I think people are more careful about who they mess with because of the old saying "an armed society is a polite society." Anecdotal thoughts though....

    One thing I like to bring up about Americans being racist is the fact that America is one of the few large nations in the world that welcomes pretty much EVERYONE to come in. We have communities of people from all over the world. We have all kinds of races, religions, creeds, etc. When you take everyone into this "melting pot" that we call the US there's bound to be a bit of friction. What I find most funny is that many of the people that say the US is "so racist" do so from a country that has almost no other races in it when compared to somewhere like the US. How many nations are there that have 90% of their own race that throw stones at the US? I'd wager a whole lot. The big difference between the US and the rest of the world is that while we all have racism, the US lets A TON of different races and cultures into the country. How many homogeneous countries can say the same? I mean really, if we took away 30-40% of the population of Switzerland and replaced them with people from all over (Asia, Africa, the Middle East, ect) just how well do you think those people would be treated by the remaining majority? I'd bet my life that those new comers would be treated so badly that the native Swiss would probably kick them all the hell out.
    Let's not even mention that there are some countries within Europe that can't fucking stand the same people they live along side. I've never seen people who have grown up for generations only 20 miles apart be so damn indignant with each other. They even consider them to be a different 'race.' If I can bike down to your town from my town in less than a day then I shouldn't be able to claim that you're that different from me. Some of these communities have existed for hundreds of years and they still hate each other. At least in the US the people who sometimes butt heads are people who come from half a world away and share actual cultural differences. Some Europeans hate each other because a thousand years ago some bloke told the other bloke his wife was a bit of a dog.

    Here in Tennessee it's a constitutional carry state. That means a sober person, in good standing with the law, can carry a gun, but you can not conceal it without a license to do so. If more people carried guns, less people would be willing to shoot someone, or to rob a public business. You wouldn't want to pull out a gun to rob a place and have every other customer pull theirs out to stop you.

    Okay, another book coming. He said the federal government isn't the highest authority, the states are. And that some states write laws that contradict federal law. That is 100%, absolutely and totally not true. I have absolutely ZERO idea where he pulled that out from, I really don't.
    The deal with the US federal government is that it is in charge of certain things. These certain things are clearly listed in out Constitution. We also have the 10th Amendment in the Constitution, which states, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Which basically means, 'Whatever we don't talk about or have power over is completely up to you, States. Have fun." This can mean lots of things. States have the power to levy their own forms of taxes if they want to, or to not if they don't. The education system is run by State governments, which usually then allow the smaller local governments to really take over and do it themselves. The state gets to decide how they handle their automobile laws and license requirements. There's also limitations that the federal government has put on State governments but that also allow those States to put MORE restrictions if they want to.
    But to the point that he makes, no, the States do NOT supersede the federal government over ANYTHING that the federal government has power over. For example, we have a 1st Amendment in the US. A State within the US cannot simply ban certain forms of speech. If they tried they'd be taken to a FEDERAL court and the law would be over turned. There's something we have in the Constitution called the Supremacy Clause. It states, "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding." Which means that if a State passes or tried to enforce a law that violates federal law they will be shut down.
    And we see people try to claim this bullshit every once in a while in certain US states. CA will sometimes pipe up and say they have the authority to basically ban the 2nd Amendment. It goes to the Supreme Court, gets struck down, and CA has to abide by that. Then Texas might come along and say they can do this or that, and the federal courts will have to slap them around as well.
    This idea that the STATES rule over the federal government was test, and lost, in the American Civil War.
    No one in their right mind would ever argue that the States rule over the federal government. That's absolutely insane and ahistorical.

So, it logically follows that anyone who can legally purchase a gun can carry a gun for self-defense in those constitutional carry states. Child mortality is not measured uniformly across all countries. There are different standards it country uses to determine if it should be counted towards the child mortality rates. The US has pretty high standards (or low depending on how you look at it) for counting child mortality. That is part of the reason the number is so high.

    Here in Texas, we have open carry laws for guns. It is illegal to conceal your weapon, unless you have a conceal carry permit. If you have any interaction with law enforcement, just be honest about your gun; in the glove box, on your belt, on the passenger seat, etc. Unless you have outstanding warrants, or you're doing something illegal, you'll be okay. The video was right, you rarely see guns out in public, except on police, or sometimes long guns in the back window of pick-up trucks, especially during deer season.

    I've heard just about every one of these stereotypes at one time or another. Just a couple days ago I got into it with a guy from Britain in the comment section of one of Lawrence Browns videos. He said and I quote " Being loud and obnoxious is normal for Americans" We hear this sort of thing all the time. Sometimes you just have to hit back.
    We have guns. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the majority of gun crime is in the big city's and usually confined to certain areas. Not to say it never happens outside the city's but for example, in Chicago alone there were 2450 shootings in 2023 and that was a little better than 2022. If we were to add other city's like Baltimore, LA, New York, etc. our gun crimes statistics would look very different.
    Our news media hates the country and they delight in portraying us in the worst light possible. Our race relations would be 100% better if they would just shut up. While I am aware that racism exists, I don't think it's anywhere as bad as it's made out to be. At least where I live we all get along just fine. No one should believe a word they hear on the news. People who make their living by being race hustlers, never want it to end.
    If you walk around the US., unless you're in a place that has strict gun laws in place, like New York, you're probably going to encounter lots of people with guns, you just won't know about it. I carry a gun every day but nobody sees it. So far I haven't needed it lets hope I never do.

    You fine gents keep reacting solely from the British point of view which is closer to the US than any other European country. Many of the items he mentions are more geared towards continental Europe. I will say that the one thing I get most upset about from all of Europe, including Great Britain, is the snotty “we have free healthcare and the US is so backwards.” Europe as a whole has gutted their militaries and relied on the U.S. for protection; pumping the money they save on defense into domestic initiatives such as free healthcare. If the European countries finally start building their militaries to where they should be free healthcare may not be so free anymore. Why should US taxpayers pay for the defense of so many countries who have neglected it for 50 years? That European attitude just infuriates me. But thanks to Great Britain we have one true ally we can trust. I know NATO countries are attacking us for being unreliable but we have not been able to trust or depend on NATO countries (other than Great Britain) for years especially lead by France and Germany. - a side note, I think most of these misconceptions are the younger generation who get their information about the US on social media platforms in stereotypical bursts of information.

    Here in Florida, open carry is illegal unless you are going to the range, hunting, fishing or walking on your own land/ property.
    Constitutional carry tends to mean that Americans are allowed to carry guns without a permit to carry. The states which follow the constitutional carry doctrine say since the US Constitution has the Second Amendment, that no government should be allowed to limit that right at all. Other states agree with that same mindset, but they also place some limits or stricter laws

    I live in an open carry state. The city I live in has had a massive increase in crime. Women being attacked at night, gang violence, people being robbed at the ATM for their money and cars. Our police department has had problems keeping people on the job. It was also investigated by the FBI and let’s just say there aren’t many officers to help keep things in check. So, I carry, my mother and brother both carry.
    The issue I do have with US gun laws is how easy it is to purchase one. Took me 15 minutes to legally purchase a firearm. I don’t have to get a license and I’m allowed to open carry. Even though I benefitted from it I still find it to be a bit ridiculous. It shouldn’t be that easy.

      Why would you want to make it harder to buy a gun? When you buy one you have to pass a background check, if you pass the check, you get the gun. If I get the gun in 15 minutes or it takes 5 hours how does that benefit anybody? I guess it might give one a "cooling off" period but how often does somebody legally buy a gun and then immediately shoot somebody?

    • @Raijin-RyuX24
      @Raijin-RyuX24 3 місяці тому

      Because a background check isn’t enough. The Us needs to also have mental health test as well as require courses for proper safety, use and maintenance. We should also raise the age requirement to purchase, own and use.
      You would be surprised how many people buy firearms legally and then use them in crimes. Many are bought from gun shows. From 2017-2021 those crimes alone, ones committed using legally purchased firearms from gun shows, increased by 19%. That’s just one statistic. This doesn’t include items sold from online and brick and mortar businesses.
      More than 40,000 people have been killed in gun violence in 2023 alone. Sure, many of those are illegal purchases and stolen. But many are also legal buys. In 2021 there were 48,000 gun deaths. 54% of those were self harm. The other 43% were violent. How many accident deaths?
      Yes, there are responsible buyers. Not everyone’s a criminal. True. All I’m saying is it shouldn’t be a 15 minute process. That’s all.

This is why you have situations like the whole Flint Michigan water thing. The federal government can't legally intervene, so they would give funding to the state to take care of the problem and the funds would get misappropriated. The only time the federal government can intervene in state matters is if it's affecting multiple states and it's declared a "national issue"

    The federal government 100% is the highest authority. The Civil War essentially affirmed this.
    State have certain agency to do whatever they want (which is why some states allow for weed or guns and others don’t), but the federal gov’t still has the final say.

      The federal government doesn't necessarily have the final say on powers that are delegated to the states, but states cannot make laws that violate federal laws. However, the Supreme Court prefers interpretations that avoid preempting state laws.
